Hi Ed's,

I was curious as to whether our transfer planning or activity behind the scenes would stop or be hindered with Mislintat leaving, or if the wheels are in motion for what we want to do in the summer already?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It will certainly be hindered and there is the potential that the new appointment will derail it completely. However, in the interim it will continue down the road it has been going - but keep in mind some good and trusted people from the scouting side, one in particular, have moved on.}

That is bad news because we need to buy well and we need to buy at reasonable prices if not better than reasonable prices and scouting bargains was an avenue I hoped we excell in as a way back to being competitive again.

Ed if I’m honestly I don’t know much about the director of football role, but in this your opinion who is perfectly suited for the role and why?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal already have Raul Sanllehi in the role of Director of Football. What they need is a new chief scout or a bit of a restructure as Sanllehi is very much a football administrator. This means that whoever arrives to replace Sven Mislintat needs to adapt to work in a slightly odd set up where he would be given the title of Technical Director or Chief Scout but would not have the overall say over the football side of things - as that would still be in the hands of Sanllehi - and that could make it difficult to recruit the right person. There is no secret that Monchi is having a bit of a tough time at Roma after a not so good summer, losing focus over players signed for the AM role and a struggle with the owner to some extent. He has been in London this week discussing a player with another club and maybe someone sneaked him a drink and had a chat with him? Perhaps could be convinced that the job is for him - but I rather suspect not having full control over transfers and the youth system might put him off. Overmars has done well in the Netherlands and knows the club well - if he could be persuaded to join it would be necessary to certainly give him powers over the youth system - so again it depends on the job spec.

If money is not going to be available and the hadcuffs are on or the coach interferes or the Director of Football interferes, then Monchi is not the man for Arsenal, regardless of how good he is. Overmars would have certain demands and may suit the club better at this time.}

It's not sounding good to me as an outsider looking in, sounds like there could be trouble at tut Mill and may well be behind Sven leaving.
I think losing Sven might have set us back further than we will probably ever realise,
Some of our best signings for very long time came in the two 2018 windows he was around.

Thanks Ed for the info, really interesting. Hopefully arsenal appoint the right man.

Just caught up on this thank you Ed love reading your comments. I wouldn't mind seeing overmars come to the club. Seems to being a good job over there and if he has a big say in the youth set up I can only see good things coming from that.
