This Mesut Ozil saga has to come to an end. This post may cause a bit of stir, but i still believe this guy has a massive role to play. I know some of you have been slating him and he deserves some of it. But since his omission from the squad, has any player actually stepped up to create chances?

We're constantly leaving ourselves short at LB as Kolasinac is the only player in the team who actually puts a ball into the box, but due to his commitment going forward we suffer. No other player in the league picks a pass like Ozil, and this guy needs to be given a free role in our team. As for Emery i can’t see his reign lasting two long.

Also can i just point out that one of the only first team coach still left at the club from the wenger reign is the supposed defensive coach of Steve Bould? How can we not get this defense right with such a great defender coaching them?

Steve Bould wasn’t a great defender mate! . Ozil is a great player.

I'm with you there JG but I don't know how much of the Ozil situation is down to Emery and how much is due to the guys upstairs. Do they want him out to free up the wage bill? Are they trying to embarrass him deliberately after the mistake they made giving him that contract? Baffling and frustrating.

It sounds like a pretty desperate defence of Emery blaming the club for Dick not playing Mesut wire mate.
Sorry but it does sound ever so similar to the naughty stadium defence of Arsenes choices and decisions that backfired too.
Personally I think it's easier to deal with what we know and see for ourselves rather than guess at possible answers that deflect from the fact that we look no better now than we did under Arsene but Mesut is reduced to watching Xhaka play in almost every game now.
Dick in my opinion took the easy option of dropping Mesut and it's not worked out well.

To be fair g62 none of us 'know' anything except that Ozil isn't playing and there's a different excuse every other day. I'm willing to bet Ozil would be playing if he wasn't on 350k a week, which to me seems like the club want him gone so he can free up the wage bill.

Maybe someone ITK can elaborate further. I'm not making excuses for Emery, the whole situation irritates me as we are clearly a lot better off playing Ozil than this situation as it drags on, whatever you think of the player himself.

Fair comment Wire mate but although I agree the club would most likely wish Mesut off the wage bill I really don't think it's the club choosing not to select him or Ramsey I think that's 100% Dicks choice and one most fans are struggling with simply because we struggling to be betrer without him than with.
Managers stand or fall by their decisions and Dicks big choices aren't paying dividends when I watch the team play.
I just can't see any difference between Arsene and Dick being in charge in the way we perform on the pitch which when all said and done is what really matters.

{Ed001's Note - Emery has a free hand in team selections, it was one of the things he insisted on before he took the job after his experience at PSG where he was forced to play certain players.}

Thanks Ed0001 mate, that's some crazy set up where someone else picks some of your team for you or worse still players have it on their contracts they must play.
Now I would have total sympathy for any coach who was forced to include certain individuals and question why other than money they would work under such restrictions, seems like a hiding to nothing job to take in the first place.

{Ed001's Note - hiding to nothing but it makes you wealthy and you still get big jobs afterwards as everyone knows you were on a hiding to nothing. It is win win really.}

I get the whole "Get Ozil off the wage bill " thing but let's face it, he is still one of the best players in the world on his day and talent like that is not to readily available. So you take a massive hit on Ozil and buy what? Another player that could not get in at Barcelona or Citeh you then have their wages to find. Wish Dick would just swallow his pride and admit he is wrong about Ozil.

As someone who’s not an arsenal fan, I’d see your best midfield as a three of Xhaka Torreira Ramsey (obviously not long term) then Ozil ahead of them behind lacazzete and aubameyang. Torreira and Xhaka can drop deep if needs be so Ozil can play freely and Ramsey can bomb on. Wouldn’t have much natural width but could dominate the centre of the park so Kolasinac and Bellerin could provide it.
