Yet another majestic performance by the clubs manager in a press conference.

still going on about his record which has not got any better in the last 8 years.

its got to the stage now where I feel like turning over the channel every time I know he's about to speak on tv.

please just go arsene and take your mental strength with you.

you have brought every criticism on to your self, no 1 else is to blame.

there use to be a time when the club would never let it get this bad.
there use to be a time when the name arsenal use to mean something in football.

just go.

I hate it when Wenger harp's on about, don't challenge me, as I have won things 8 years ago or I have been a manager for 30 years. Its a huge sign of weakness. Alas, I see nothing in Wenger's post Highbury football philosophy to illustrate that he will once again be successful. If he were to revert to his hugely successful fluid 4-4-2 formation, sign at least one tall commanding centre back, an experienced quality keeper & two beasts in the centre of midfield, I would give him another chance.

Im glad wenger was overly aggrieved at the press conference today. It shows that despite him saying he never listens to what the 'outside' has to say. he clearly does listen, and he doesn't like it one bit.

If he doesn't like it, he knows what to do! sell the rubbish and buy some talent!

Not here for a row just want to make a point re your "there was a time when the club wouldn't let it get so bad".
Now I know your a supporter who goes back to the 70s era. Between '71 and '89 what did we win? 2 leagues 2 FA cups and the Fairs Cup. Yes we reached some other finals but ultimately how competitive were we in that 18 year period? Up until Wenger arrived we hadn't had sustained success. No this isn't a staunch defence of the man but an opinion that we have been spoilt somewhat in his earlier years as manager. In that 18 year period, Bertie Mee Terry Neil Don Howe and George Graham between them won 5 trophies. The club as a whole has never pushed for the success in ways Manchester United Chelsea and man city are doing now. In the 80s it was Liverpool and Everton.

Be interested to here your view on this opinion

Paul that is very true, however back then we did not have the resources to push for almost seasonal success like we do now. Massive commercial deals, huge stadium, finance-free almost, we have developed club profits of £195m in the last 5 years or something. So back then sure we didn't win all that much. But back then we weren't all that different to smaller teams. We are now in a totally different echelon to teams like Wigan, QPR etc, yet we have nothing to show for it. I can totally understand that success often has a yo-yo effect and you are not likely to win all the time, but this is usually because clubs go through periods where they spend money and have all the players and then periods where they sell the players and recoup and rebuild. This cycle usually last for a few seasons max, and it usually involves shifting key players, bringing in big funds, and rebuilding. The team that is assembled as a result usually has a settling season, then a growing season, they a season where it's clear they're back in it. Whereas with us, we've sold our best players, not brought in younger versions who would grow to be as good, not kept the group together, not incorporated youth talent, sold more players, not brought in younger version, rinse and repeat whilst consistently diluting the overall quality of the squad year after year for 8 years now.

Weren't we told the minimum spend period would be 5-6 years max? Yes. In that time all that happened was we sold amazing players, paid peanuts for worse ones, paid them far too much, and repeated this. Sure, two summers ago Wenger spent around £50m. But he did so after selling Nasri and Fabregas for a combined total of more than that. This was two months after the club announced a £55m war chest.

Sure we spent a lot last summer. What we got for our money on the whole was great - Podolski, Giroud and Santi. However, this amount was covered by the sales of RVP and Song - but weren't we told there was £70m available to Wenger his time?

So I know success is not guaranteed, but it is not so readily avoided like it is at Arsenal. A club of our stature and resources should be going a few seasons here and there without seriously challenging. not 8 virtually identical seasons of having absolute no chance of winning the league or Champs league.

That's just my view.

Hi metal

Generally the amount in the "transfer kitty" is revealed by the media so how accurate that is I'm not sure. The word from the club usually goes along the line of "substantial money will be made available. "
Your right we have spent a lot of money pretty much ALL covered as you say by the sales of our best players. Is this what the club means by "substantial money will be made available"? The money we create from sales.
I'm of the opinion that IF there was a lot of money available players like Giroud would NOT have been signed. We would have gone for the next level up.
It's a bit like watching an episode of the X Files. There's a secret that needs uncovering due to a mass cover up.
I hope we get the truth soon but I'm not holding my breathe.
