This match just shows us that whilst Giroud works hard and gets in the right positions,
We don't have that one chance = one goal striker that we need, especially in games like these where chances are limited.

Van Persie was that, and we lost him.

Last year with Van Persie, we won 1-0. He only needed one chance and he took it.

Giroud, Podolski and Walcott are all good. But good strikers don't win you titles, the best ones do.

Nick.

Maybe maybe not. It's easy to say in hindsight that RVP would have scored that chance but you just don't know. RVP missed plenty of chances for us aswell. I understand what you saying mind if your betting man united would not confidently back Giroud in a one on one with keeper like you would RVP. For me it is still too early to judge Giroud for his overall contribution, I do think he needs a partner with 2 up front.

What annoys me with our forwards is the lack of urgency and drive to get on the end of crosses into the box. There were two clear opportunties tonight (Cazorla and Gibbs) that were screaming for a forward to take a gamble and drive to into the box and get a clear sight on goal, they would have been almost tap ins really if someone had gambled. Platt and Lundburg used to be brilliant at that for us back in the day running deeper from midfield into the box.

Weather its Wenger's training or what I do not know but there is always a tendancy to sit on the edge of the box when the ball is wide, why?.

We miss out on quite a few good scoring chances because of this. We are still looking for that real box predator forward that would naturally do this and take the risk that the cross will come in low near post of to the back post.

Rvp missed plenty

Not sure we have had a 1 shot = 1 goal striker since Wrighty to be honest

Robbie and Freddie were awesome with late runs to pick up goals and help the strikers

The way we play - not sure we can afford a fox in the box as we ask a lot from the front guy.

I agree though as too early to judge but I like what I see but he is better as in a 442 set up and need a little more pace plus killer instinct up front to feed off the big guy

THIERRY HENRY was just as good, if not better finisher than wrighty

Giroud is not good enough the season has proved that needs far to many chances to score. The first game of the season proved that.

Send him back to the French league.

Ok so giroud didn't take his chances and he should of easiley taken the one towardes the end of the 1st half and the one in the second half, but its still his first season and has scored 16 goals for us- I personally don't like one up top we should go back to 4-4-2 pod an giroud or pod and theo up front with ox and gervinho on the wings, and why don't we have runners in the box any more, when we had the invincibles if henry didn't get it pires would if he didn't freddie would bergkamp ect
