Does anyone remember the first Arsenal game they attended? For me it was on a Saturday my dads mate was round and said if the sun comes out would you like to come over to watch Arsenal play Blackpool. It was a horrible cloudy day but I was willing the sun to break through and about 2 pm the sun came out and we walked from my house to Avenell Road Highbury to the old stadium, in those days you paid at the gate, we stood at the clock end. I think the score was 4-2 to Arsenal (maybe someone knows the correct score love to know might have been 4-3 )and that was it for me I was hooked! That was about 1964 I was 7. Always remember George Armstrong on the wing I was amazed that a little man could run so quick what a great player he was, strong as an ox.

23rd November 1963 the score was 5-3 to Arsenal, they didn't play at Highbury in 64. George wasn't in the starting 11 of Jim Furnell, Freddie Clark, Billy McCullough, Ian Ure, Laurie Brown, John Barnwell, Johnny Macleod, Joe Baker, Terry Anderson, Geoff Strong and George Eastham.

There was only 14 players in the squad that year and George Armstrong was one of them, aged 19.

Scorers were Barnwell, Brown, Eastman with Geoff Strong getting 2.

33, 847 at the game.

Wasn't there myself as only 4 but thought you might like to know.

The game at Highbury on 19th April 1965 ended 3-1 to Arsenal and George did start that game as did Terry Neill. Only 17, 063 at that game.

Arsenal finished 8th and Liverpool won the League. Blackpool were 18th.

Mr Bored from Bored Town, Boredington, on a day off and its fricking raining. again.

Must have been 1963 then. Did George Armstrong play at all in that match then because if he never I must be remembering him from another time I saw them. I know he joined Arsenal before 1963.
I was watching old footage of George Armstrong and if anyone has the time I thought it was uncanny the resemblance between him and Jack Wilshere in the way they play. Same posture, movement etc if you have time have a look on YouTube.
