Clubs don't seem to have too much problem selling their striker's, ie Suarez to Barca and James Rodriguez to Madrid.

A lot of clubs want Defensive midfielders, ie Schneiderlin, Bender, Khedira, Pogba and Carvalho, but their respective club's won't sell.

Are DM's now recognised as possibly the most important component of a team?

The latest fashion accessory?

PS, Jenjen did touch upon this subject earlier.

More important than seen before. However Strikers will always be the most integral part. You can't win a match without scoring!

DMs are critical for ensuring you don't lose the big matches. Strikers ensure you win. And in top top games, you need the ball and service and a quick transition to win = the modern DM and a top striker. Just like with a car - You need wheels and an engine for it to go.

A tough tackling DM, with an engine, who can decide the transition from a short pass to the long ball quick counter attack, is rarer than a striker IMHO.

But if nothing else we need a midfield disrupter.
