There is a lot to be said for walking away from public life and simply enjoying the millions you've made once your career in football is over.
Some of the older pundits never earned the money players do today but any top players of the last 10 to 15 years should be well set up for life financially, why have all the grief that comes with TV work for a few extra quid you don't need.

All the more baffling as to why such a great servant to Liverpool would do that Ed0001 mate, our of touch with reality I guess but I also guess it's an easy trap to fall into if you've been used to the limelight.
He was interested in management when he first retired and he prehaps would have been better advised sticking to that plan.
