With only 12 days until the window shuts, it will be interesting to see the outcome in respect of Ramsey.
At his age he can easily afford to run down his contract, knowing that he will be a free agent next season and can benefit financially as a result.
Perhaps Ozil's reported £300,000+ per week is causing a problem in the negotiation?
Psychologically it would be a great help, going into the new season, if he signs a new long term deal.

If Ozils wage is a problem for Aaron what is the solution?
A Make Aaron happy by matching Mesuts wages?

B let Aaron go where he will be happier and bring in someone who is happy to be with us on the wages we pay? Which aren't exactly poor

A brings more problems than it solves because if Aaron gets super wages to stay who else will think if he deserves that what am I worth?
Giving in to blackmail never ends well in the long run, it just encourages more blackmail in the future.

Perhaps a deal is in place for Ramsey, but it won't be announced until just before the window closes, as a boost to the supporters, if as many supporters believe that we won't be making further signings. I hope he stays and Welbeck as well.
Good feeling about the squad from what I can gather and the new 3rd kit, despite my reservations actually looks decent.

I don't think ramsey can afford to run his contract down. If he doesn't sign and we can't get him sold and replaced, i don't see any reason why Dick should play him. Whatever the reason he isn't signing, we as a club need to be proactive in what we do with him. We and he either wants to stay or go, it needs to be sorted to a satisfactory conclusion for arsenal, whatever that is.

Surely the answer is to negotiate new contracts when there is 2 years remaining on a players contract then if no agreement is reached consider the next season as a player working his notice just like a real job, this gives you a season to line up a replacement plus listen to offers for the player who you are parting company with.
Surely this works for everyone as players and his family get a year to plan their next move/ home and the club gets a transfer fee plus time to find a replacement.
2 years is a long time for a player to run down his contract training alone and not playing competive football which would virtually end their top level careers so it would be in their interstest to agree to working a notice period and use it as a shop window.

I would let the contract completely run down and then the player can go get the best offer he can get from another side and we’ll offer him 6 quid more to retain his services (assuming we value the player)

but no transfer fee money to replace him with if we can't match what others offer the player Q
We offer Pea 400k but City 500k and we end up with no player no replacement funds mate.

Personally I think it's better to deal early than be held over a barrel later on.
If you give a new player a 5 years deal it should be on the understanding that if you can't agree to extend at the end of year 3 both parties can give notice to each other notice period of a season allowing both player and club plenty of time to find good alternatives to each other.
There has to be a limit to how many 10s of millions you can spend without ever recuperating along the way somewhere.

It isn't in arsenals interest at all to let a player run down his contract and possibly lose the player for nothing. On the other hand, it isn't in ramseys favour to not sign and for the club not to play him in his last season either. There has to be a reason why he hasn't signed and if that reason can't be sorted and quick, it would be best for all parties a solution is found. If we can sell him and get say 30 mil for him, then sell. If he wants to stop for footballing reasons then get it signed and get on with it. Either way a solution must be sorted for all. He isn't a ronaldo and he isn't a jenkinson so he is playing a bit of russian roulette with his career.

At the start of summer we were talking about 50 million now it's 30 million who wants Aaron? If any big clubs.

I would think he wants to see where Arsenal go with Emery in charge before he makes a commitment. He won’t want to commit his long term future to the club if Arsenal don’t start to improve.

NE, i'm not sure he's in a position to be like that, like i said, he ain't no ronaldo and he isn't so important that he can be that fussy. He might wait but he also might find his place in the team taken and in the process, unlike sanchez, he might find any possible suiters lose interest.
