Cheer up lads, citeh wasn't improving with pep after 6 months, Liverpool fans wanted useless klopp out because he couldn't organise his defence and solskjar has turned utd into the best team in the league in 5 games. Lol.

Hopefully Dick will turn it around too mate but so far it's business as usual at Arsenal with absolutely no sign of anything changing for the better, the future no one knows but the reality is as we stand it's same old same old with a different manager.

{Ed002's Note - Well, as I said he was never the first choice coach and I was certainly unconvinced by him. But keep in mind there have been a lot of expensive changes made over the past year and that cannot be sustained without finding the spaces in the squad and the money through sales. If they cannot get the players they want they have to make knee jerk purchases or wait.}

Ed 02, i agree, Rome wasnt built in a day and arsenal won't go from 6th to challenging top 4 in a couple of months. What i don't get is though, how did he win all those europa league trophies and why on earth did PSG think he was good enough for them, if he isn't a good coach.

Hi Ed002 hope you good mate. Out of curiosity who was arsenal's first choice coach? Didn't Gazidis say that Unai was the unanimous choice?

{Ed002's Note - I dealt with this at the time.}

It's not about what Dick has or hasn't done before Steve it's about what he has and does do at Arsenal.
So far change has proved underwhelming to say the least mate with little to no improvement anywhere and defensively where as awful as before he arrived.
I don't think anyone expected instant transformation but there is no sign of improving to be seen and that's worrying mate even you must be disappointed?

Do You mind reminding me ED please? I don't remember you mentioning that bit of info. Why did the club say Emery was the first choice then?

{Ed0333's Note - i was referencing many a conversation we both had about how Nagelsmann would be a good fit for you guys. I remember both of us eulogizing about him. As I recollect I made no mention of the Arsenal hierarchy talking to Nagelsmann about the Arsenal job.

Yes i rememmber me and you having that discussion. I thought you meant Emery wasn't the first choice for the Arsenal board. Was he the unanimous choice or is it true that he was picked because he was willing to work with what he had as oppossed to the likes of allegri who wanted money?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Nevertheless it was a shocking decison by the Arsenal board not to talk to nagelsmann. He is a miracle worker. The same can't be said of Emery. He couldn't achieve anything with that PSG in Europe with all their money, what will he achieve with Arsenal that is stripped of cash? I never saw the logic in hiring him.

Punani, do enlighten me on this miracle worker who has a win % of 43 at Leipzig and has won what in his career. Not knocking him just saying he would be a massive risk.

Nagelsmann is still a very young coach but what he has done at hoffenheim is exceptional. He is one of the few coaches who actually improves players. He took a relegation team into the top four in bundesliga in his first full season. In his second season, he finished above teams like borrusia and leverkusen that had far better players. THe only reason they were above leverkusen and dortumund was due to the quality of the coach. His training sessions are revolutionary.

Since it was clear that Arsenal is not a team that is willing to spend, it was my opinion that coaches that are tactically astute and known to punch above their weight like tuchel, pochettino or nagelsmann and ones who have a history of improving players where we get to perhaps buy them, improve them and then sell them for profit, are more suited to Arsenal than a luis enrique or a unai Emery.

The ideal scenario is where we get an A list manager, very proven like an allegri and give him money to spend but there is no way that is happening under kroenke. Best we can hope for is coach who can punch above his weight or kroenke sells the club and we get an owner who is willing to invest.

I don't get it Punani, emery was doing similar things to that before he went to psg. Nagelsman, Smagelsman or ever would need time at arsenal. i'm sorry improving a team in the bundesleague where there is only two top teams at best that would survive in the prem, is totally different to getting an Arsenal team to challenge fpr a title. The speculation about wether he could do a better job is just that, speculation. Give our guy a chance and a bit of bloody credit. He isn't a mug at all.
