It's not so much the place we finish in that worries me Banbury mate its the progress and improvement that stands us in good stead for the future.
Come on Dick give us something to buy into and get behind, everyone wants you to succeed but you need to give us some reason to think you can do the job we need doing.

I know i'm clutching at straws but i read somewhere that when Dick was at Seville, there was a point where he knew the league was gone and concetrated all his efforts into winning the europa league. So much so that before the semi final and final he completely rested the first team and played kids and reserves in the league. I don't yet (i might next week) but when 4th is completely out of the question, i think at some point he may start doing the same. Would finishing 6th and winning the europa this season be a good season?

Would winning the europa league make us better next season mate? Ok with champions league football and the money it brings it might help us sign more players but what if we go all out for the Europa at the expense of working in the league week in, week out at improving then lose in the final?

We've got to put in the hard yards week in week out if we are going to improve throwing everything into the europa would be a very high risk strategy similar to selling your house and investing in 100,000 lotto tickets :-) all or nothing bravery or madness.

Keep your house by 1 lotto ticket and go to work as normal Just in case the lottery numbers don't come up is what would seem the sensible approach to me mate.

Agree gunner but stepping stones, you have to play at a higher level to be able to play at a higher level. Whatever way you look at it CL football takes any club to a higher level in more ways than one.

Gunner Seville under Dick were not in the champs league position when they won and qualified for CL via the europa. I believe if i'm right the next two seasons, they finished 3rd. It took them up a gear.
