Quite a bit of drama about our poor performance yesterday. But it was a poor performance with some key players missing and a team which has had the same weaknesses all season. So nothing particularly surprising about that performance, but I agree, it's disappointing. Let's not forget, we didn't make the top four last season, nor did we look like doing so, so our current position in the top four, despite yesterdays result, should invoke a degree of positivity.

Yes, Chelsea (if they are able) and ManU will strengthen in the summer; it remains to be seen if the Spuds are able to afford much after £1b on a stadium. But, if we don't address the serious problems in defence, midfield, and the lack of width, then it will be obvious what the ambitions of the club are, and what the future is likely to resemble. But that future is not going to be determined by a poor performance against a tricky opponent away.

Everything that happens is a learning process, some things can be sorted and some need change, in personell or/ and structure. Like you say, last year we were never really involved in fourth, this year surprisingly we are. If it comes off great, if it doesn't, i'm sure enough has been seen to see what can be accomplished in the summer. We still have an exciting period to come between now and the end of the season to come and the truth is anything can happen. We are in the mix for various accomplishments still and that's great. We are blooding and relying on young players and that also has to be great going forwards. Both Amn and Gouendouzi made errors yesterday along withe nearly all the players. Some of the vitriolic write ups i have read on the internet from bogus or infantile sites, slagging and picking on the younsters, especially amn are fit for the gutter. These lads are learning every game from every mistake, something some of our elder players don't seem to. This season is a learning season for all after years of one regime that had run its course. i'm looking forward to the last few weeks of the season and beyond. Yesterday was a defeat, let's move on and see if we can recover from the defeat like we have so far this season. The away form is massive and the players have to find a way of dealing with their confidence and emotions when they aren't at home and quickly.

Would 75 points be enough?
Win our 2 home games plus 1 away game then getting a point in the other 3 away games would be a very good return for us considering our home/ away ratio of remaining games.
18 points up for grabs and personally I think 12 points will be needed to see off 2 of United Chelsea and Spurs.

Gunner, i think two home wins and two away wins would be great and we then see if it is good enough. It usually is for fourth but 75 points would be good first season.

I actually agree Steve 75 points season 1 would be an excellent return.
Ultimately we all know where our problems really lay, exactly the same place they have done for years now and we really need to see some real genuine improvement their next season more than anything else mate.
We can't keep relying on our oppents attackers to finish poorly.

Gunner, i would like to think we won't be relying on mustaffi, monreal or al ninny next year at least. If that is so, an obvious improvement will naturally take place. Mustaffi is not a calming presence, monreal is past it as a defender and al ninny is just rubbish.

I do think that mustaffi and monreal are that dodgy, if we do have to rely on them, we won't improve. Both are capable but also culpable.

Remove from squad - Licht, Mustafi, Carl, Elneny, Granit, Cech, Nacho

Part of squad not starting 11 material - Kos, Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Welbeck,

Gone - Rambo

Never arrived - Suarez

Build team around or sell - Özil

Major works required in the summer.

Yep - plus Elneny and Guendouzi can’t start next season while Elneny should be sold.

3rd or 4th - who cares unless we compete. The above two should not be near our starting eleven. Guendouzi runs and runs but gives away possession and caught out of place - his time will come but we won’t compete until we get leaders in our spine.

Add Welbeck to the list of not good enough as well as a Granit.

We need a new captain - why is Özil captain when a Sokratis displays the passion and aggression needed.

What’s the point of being in UEFA cup to never compete.

Let’s aim high and set the bar high.

75 points is useless when your defence means you will never compete. When the opposition improves, the bar moves.

Ok first season but no issues Es addressed - lack of tactics, passion, pressing, leadership and defending. Sorry to be negative but that’s the truth.

Too little time to correct it ( one season ) but to be honest - Emery has done very little to suggest he’s the man. Hopefully next season is judgement season and he delivers as I have nothing against him but he’s not earned more than that as displayed nothing to warrant anything else. Let’s also be jones - his last window was a disaster.
