I have got to say Dick is doing some job, we had mustaffi in (need not say no more) mavropanos first game for light years, auba and myki with their boots on the wrong feet, iwobi with sawdust for brains and xhaka passing every ball to the opposition and he still managed to get these 11 clowns to win somehow tonight. Well done Dick you are my hero. Lol.

that was all luck! and soul destroying to watch! we in no way deserved to win that, I don't blame emery, the players out there should of performed way better! an extra man for 80 minutes yet by far the worse side for the whole game and only won it because of an apsolute howler by their keeper, that was dire!

Totally disagree on the goal, it was brilliant by auba and only auba could have done that, no howler, just lightning speed.

Regardless, we were massively out played, despite being far more expensively assembled and having a numerical advantage, it was a truly shocking performance and if we play anywhere near that on Thursday our 2 nil lead won't be anywhere near enough, how can we be so different home and away? Home form exceptional away form diabolical!

{Ed0333's Note - does it matter if you win the UEFA cup/and or finish 4th? You’re a work in progress mate Emery has been there only 1 season and he’s had financial constraints. Judge him next season when he’s had time to wheel and deal and really implement his blueprint. In my opinion you’re above expectation. Rome wasn’t built in a day but Everton Man United’s defence was.

Easy Eden mate, it hasn’t been easy playing away this season mate, the goal was excellent from Auba the way he pressed with speed which shocked their keeper. We defended well, yes they are playing with ten men but they had nothing to lose and they only played on the counter, you can see Watford they were angry about the red and their reaction was great, in the second half we controlled the game way better. Lucky with the red, some may say yes but other say it was pure stupidity from Deeney. They had chances we did too so it was a great scape with the 3 points.
So give some credit to the boss and enjoy the ugly win rather than being sour, beside we are resting players for Thursday. So hurray for the 3 points.

Much needed 3 points and our first away clean sheet.
With an exhausting schedule Emery managed to start without Sokratis (suspended) , Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac. Ozil and Lacazette, giving half the outfield players a rest.
How we cope with the current fixture congestion will, of course, define our season.
Looking forward to Thursday's match v Napoli. It will be interesting to see how our rivals for a top four spot emerge from this week's matches. Particularly as the Toot have two tough matches away to Man City, Man U have to travel to Everton after playing Barcelona away and Chelsea entertain Burnley at home, after a midweek EL match.

Agree whole heartedly Ed0333, i think the same as you. Why should we apologise for an ugly performance and 3 points. Other teams have uglier performances and don't bst an eyelid, why should we. Great 3 points.

Disagree with you on xhaka we have missed him and torrira in midfield, you just have it in for him no matter how good he plays.

I was maybe overly critical after I've slept on it 😂 and like I said I don't blame emery, I think he's doing well with the hand he's dealt, we were clearly the 6th best team last year and he wasn't given enough resources to change that, so if he gets 4th or the europa league, he will of exceeded my expectations and done a fantastic job. But yesterday the players were a disappointment that after 80 minutes of being a man down it was Watford who had more energy and fight than us. Anyway I was riled, I'm no longer riled 😊.

Ha ha eden, we are all critical and we are all passionate. don't get angry with 3 vital points. At the end of the day the table doesn't paint pictures or tells a story, it tells you how many points you get and don't get. We have had some brilliant performances this year and got nothing. Workmanlike performances are something we aren't used to but we need to have more of them to progress.

Say that Steve but I thought Leno had another great game. Made two decent saves.

Welsh, i haven't got it in for xhaka at all. He is an awful player and players like him and mustaffi are the main reasons people like you write about how poor we are when we lose. You say, even when he has a good game, well he definitely didn't last night, he was one of the main culprits and he doesn't do "good" games. If a player for us has talent i acknowledge that, if he hasn't, i acknowledge that too. He is just plain awful and up his own backside. Apparently he is using arsenal as a stepping stone, REALLY!
I wait on Real, Barca, Citeh and Juve giving us £150 mil this summer.
He needs replacing for us to progress and that is what i want. Do you really think he is going to take us higher?
I know he isn't.

I personally agree with you on Xhaka Steve but I don't think Dick agrees with either of us and actually rates him.

The thing with Xhaka is he does distribute the ball better than our other midfielders, and apart from the occasional blip, you know when he has the ball it will proceed to another Arsenal player. However for me, he just slows the play down too much. Recently, with Guendozi and Ramsey playing the midfield role, for example against Newcastle, it was a revelation. Their workrate more than made up for the lack of a "ball winner", and the speed at which the ball moved down the pitch was fantastic. Once Xhaka comes back in, everything has to go through him, and the sideways play returns, as against Watford.

Gunner, i'm not sure he has a lot of choice this season. He inherited a lot of wenger jewels that he has had to rely on. Rate or rely, i think he would not hesitate to trade, if he could.
