@Ed002

Any interest in Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Krychwiack of Sevilla?
REDFAITH
{Ed002's Note - PSG may look to Higuain if Cavani is sold and Lacazette are not available to them. Arsenal may yet turn to Higuain as an option but the price may put them off. Do not rule out a move from Bayern Munich if they lose Lewandowski - they have been looking and Ancelotti is an admirer. Conte has told Chelsea he is keen but I suspect Chelsea will be unwilling to pay the asking price. His agent wants an auction involving PSG and Manchester United.

Arsenal has sustained interest in Sevilla's Krychowiak - but he is not the first choice and they will only return to him if they cannot get the player they are looking at. An enquiry from Southampton was rebuffed although the amount of money theu suggested was well below the asking price in any case. Right now no one has made an offer for him according to Sevilla and I suspect he will stay there after signing a new contract with an increased release clause which would reflect the minimum an English club would need to pay. Barcelona and two other sides have also made general enquires. }.

Striker-wise, I can't see us chasing one of the top strikers. We don't appear willing to pay what it takes to sign a Higuain, Lewnadoski or Cavani. We showed our true colours by chasing Vardy for £20m ish.
In respect of Krychowiak, we appear to have sufficient midfield players, unless we are going to sell.

2.) 15 Jun 2016 12:12:35
As Ed said in the post I copied further down, vardy is our top choice. If we don't get him, we will look at other options. I'm guessing other options would be Morata, higuain or even benzema, in spite of his off the field antics.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, eds.

3.) 15 Jun 2016 13:38:40
I'm all up for getting vardy. But how on earth can our options be vardy then morata and hiquain. Is Arsene reading that list upside down?

4.) 15 Jun 2016 16:35:03
In all seriousness, I'd much prefer vardy to Morata. As for higuain, I'd love him, but itd cost a fortune. I think with vardy wed have more money to spend elsewhere - lower transfer fee to start with, and about 60k a week less in wages. So vardy is about the best option I think, all things considered. Though granted if they were both 20 mill and 120k a week I'd go for higuain.

5.) 17 Jun 2016 05:23:06
Aaaaaarrrggghhh! Not the Higuain rumours again please let's not start that again I'm pleading with you.
It's like Groundhog Day.

On mkhitaryan:

10 Jun 2016 19:11:44
Hi ed, can you give us info on which teams are looking at Henrikh Mikitariyan . Thanks
Being Human
{Ed002's Note - Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan was of interest to Juventus over last summer but the player, who earlier in the year was unhappy in Germany, seems content right now but has contract demands that Dortmund are uncomfortable with. This has not put off Chelsea who have switched their attention to Mkhitaryan after losing out on Griezmann - but right now it is going nowhere with the player for a couple of reasons. Juventus and Arsenal may look to him again, but might well encounter the same problem as Chelsea if they get as far has having any discussions. }.

On Kante:

13 Jun 2016 03:24:06
Ed was wanting to know what the deal with Kante is? I mean who is actually interested and who are the ones most likely to come up with a deal and do Barcelona or even Real hold interest? Or will he stay at Leicester for another season and may well sign another contract? I ask because it's very intriguing how every big team in the prem has been linked with him and others through out Europe.
Thank you in advance Ed!
Cr92
{Ed002's Note - Leicester's N'Golo Kante performances this season have attracted the attention of a number of sides not least Juventus, Chelsea, PSG and Arsenal. Although they will offer a new contract and would like to keep him, Leicester will be willing to sell on a couple of conditions and it will be Arsenal and Chelsea who will look to see if a deal can be brokered early in the transfer window - but it will be PSG that will be the most attractive of these clubs for the player and if they put an offer on the table that is acceptable to the club - and then they will have an advantage. Last summer Kante was on the verge of joining Marseille after rejecting the interest of West Ham and Rennes when Claudio Ranieri intervened, telling Caen their price would be met and taking the player on a guided tour of the Leicester City ground and training facilities. Anecdotally Shakhtar Donetsk approached Boulogne about taking Kante as a replacement for Fernandinho but Kante decided his future was in the French second division with Caen. }.

Ed can you give us any info on which teams could be looking to buy morata
jred
{Ed002's Note - Morata remains of serious interest to Real Madrid who would like to re-sign the player (possibly for the purposes of resale or exchange) but Juventus are looking for a way to keep him unless a replacement is found - Berardi being one possibility and Batshuayi another - although a previous agreement is now very much up in the air. There is also interest in him from Chelsea and Arsenal in London (although he is not first choice for Arsenal) and from Dortmund - who Real Madrid hope are open to a deal involving Aubameyang - again something that is very much up in the air again. Morata would certainly be be open to staying in Turin but know that they Juventus would need to discuss the buy back clause with Real Madrid and extend it if necessary. Interest of Manchester United would be dependent on a number of factors but cannot be discounted. }
10 Jun 2016 17:56:53
Ed002,

I know you don't answer arsenal questions but seeing as the Euros are upon us I thought you might let one through.

If morata isn't first choice does that mean Vardy is and can you see Vardy joining Arsenal?

Thanks in advance mate all the best
PeterC
{Ed002's Note - Vardy is indeed for choice and I can certainly see him moving and Leicester are actively working on a replacement. I cannot guarantee this will happen. }.

I've taken the opportunity to take the odds I found that arsenal will sign nobody on transfer deadline day. I got evens. Lemar won't happen and I doubt Draxler or anyone else will.

Haven't bothered to post much in a couple of years, and I've never said it in public before, but I think Wenger needs to go. I was hoping he'd leave on a high after the FA Cup final, but he evidently decided not to.
Problem is, you have to defend as a team. Wenger doesn't seem able to coach a team to defend, and won't allow coaches to properly coach the team to defend. That's why nothing will ever change. Forget the players, signings, it's irrelevant. If a team can't stop the other team from scoring, every game you're in an up hill struggle. Players like Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette are always going to create and score goals, whatever the system being played. But you could stick de gea in our goal with Maldini and Nesta in front of him and we'd still concede every game. It's the manager that's the problem, not the players.

And for the record, I've never before the day of 2017 FA Cup final said I want him to go.

1.) 28 Aug 2017 14:58:17
We had our chance for change last season when everything was pretty much as it is right now but people didn't want change when push came to shove, I personally was disappointed we didn't take our chance when Arsene was out of contract but respected the fact that I was because of a 7 game run against the beach boys and the fa cup win back in the minority and reluctantly accepted what the majority wanted.
I just find it a bit rich that people who refused change when they had the chance now demand it after 3 games in the new season, whatever kind of decision is that?
It's just not right to back the man then turn on him so quickly when he's done is what he's been doing for years now, Arsene hasn't changed its some of his backers who have and that's not Arsene fault.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 15:15:50
I think most people, even the biggest Arsene supporters, thought he should have left once his contract was up in the spring. I'm not going to lie, I was in denial about the Wenger situation for a while, but a while back I deep down knew he had to go, and was praying he would leave on a good note back in May.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 16:42:17
Give it a rest g62.
The guys is failing at his job again and it is not right to turn on him?
He gets 10mil a year!
Who still wants him really? And how many did want a new contract?
You think more are Wengerin?

4.) 28 Aug 2017 17:22:33
TG it's not right to say to someone I'm with I'm right behind your staying and then turning on them the first sign of trouble.
Who didn't expect us to get thrashed yesterday? It was obvious it's was going to happen, who thought beating Stoke at the end of last season was truly a reflection of things and we would get a result there this season? it was obvious Stoke would be up for it and highly likely would get thier usual 3pts against us.
Being wise after the event isn't a brilliant talent mate.
People fooled themselves into thinking what they wanted to think and backed Arsene because it's how they wanted it to go, they shouldn't now turn on him for their own lack of foresight
Arsene is Arsene we all know his stenghths and weaknesses and the vast majority accepted him worts and all for 2 more years just last May, it's a little rich to say I didn't expect this after just 3 games especially when the 2 defeats are pretty standard defeats for us most seasons.
TG it's about consistency mate and I've consistently heard Steve Malaga Derby and plenty of others say they want change but not so much from some who are now demanding it 3 games in.

5.) 28 Aug 2017 18:06:42
I and many others haven't backed Wenger for many years. You act like we voted him a new contract.
He was given one, nothing to do with us all backing him so you say because actually most people didn't anyway.
I'm not turning on him now, that happened many years ago.

With all this crazy money flying around, I was reading up footballers salaries. I found something far crazier than I expected: Gervinho is the 9th highest paid footballer on earth; £312,500 per week.

What was Sanchez asking for a few months back again?

C S

1.) 04 Aug 2017 21:03:12
He traded competive football for that wage though.
Only the very best can have that sort of wage and top football too.

26 Jun 2016 22:18:41
How long ago raver? I was exaggerating with 44 years, but how long since the fa cup? Must be nearly 30 years. And that was the last thing you won apart from the mickey mouse cup unless I'm very much mistaken?

C S

1.) 26 Jun 2016 22:58:25
The funniest thing was raver talking about Hoddle winning European trophies and it was pointed out to him that Hoddle wasn't even in that squad in '84. ;-)

We offered 4 times what he will probably be worth in 4 months. Tbh I don't think Evans is worth much more than 12 million. Wouldn't be much point in spending huge money in him. Would be better off spending the money in the summer on a defender who is actually worth bug money.

I worked in Usmanovs house in Highgate. On his patio in the garden he has two cannons. And there was an arsenal magazine on his coffee table. He clearly actually loves the club. Doubt you'd find that in stans house.

All I can say is, for all Walcotts faults, he could score some goals. And when you're like arsenal shipping more goals than the team bottom of the premier league, by god do you need goals!

Anyone can pick up a decent android box for 40 quid and have limitless streams for next to no money - with no worry about viruses. I'd recommend anyone considering it to join the Facebook group 'merlinites' to get instructions of how to do it etc. I'd explain on here but it's difficult unless having an clear conversation in real time.

In 2008 piers morgan wrote an article in the daily mail explaining why Wenger had to go. I don't really like the man, but if you read the article 9 years on, you can't now disagree with what he was saying. And there are many parallels for now.
