Eds are we keen on Draxler a lot of talk about it today?

Cphayes75

{Ed001's Note - keen? Yes, but there has been no move to sign him yet that I am aware of. Nor do I expect one this summer.}

Dear Ed002 can you please confirm to me if Arsenal are interested in Lacazette please, gutted that you no longer give us a breakdown on players, a few have spoiled it for all.

Cphayes75

{Ed002's Note - Interest in Lyon's Lacazette from Newcastle and Inter (who would struggle to fund a move) has long gone. Additionally, whilst Guy Hillion has continued to extol his virtues but there is no support whatesoever from the folks in London for a bid at this time - so prior interest of Chelsea has gone. Barcelona, Juventus and Spurs have also recently had him watched but Barcelona has another solution in mind and will not be following up, Juventus have taken it no further but are expected to return with an offer after losing out on another player. Spurs have also their sights set on someone else.

West Ham enquired after Lacazette's availability and are certainly interested as long as his wage demands are not too high - as they will have the money for transfers but are very much constrained over wages. West Ham have made it clear that they will what they see is a very good fee but will not over pay on the transfer - but Lyon will look for at least €10M more for a sale to an English side as they know what they can expect from elsewhere. Regardless of that, West Ham has submitted two offers for Lacazette - both rejected.

He is not first or second choise for PSG but they could potentially turn to him. Lyon are very difficult to negotiate with and they may well see an Gallic shrug in response to any initial bids. Lacazette wants English money and Champions League or Juventus, but two French players who have played in England are providing advice that it is not essential immediately. If a price can be agreed, then West Ham has the opportunity to complete the transfer unless another English side with Champions League on offer steps in. Arsenal may turn to him if they cannot get their preferred choices - but may baulk at the money. Lacazette certainly remains of interest to Atletico Madrid and don't rule out them putting an offer on the table.}

Cool, THX Ed.

Our striker situation is very unsettling at the moment, nice to know we have a fallback position.

2.) 01 Jul 2016 11:30:49
You have some impressive knowledge ed002. Great to have such insight.

3.) 01 Jul 2016 13:18:25
well if lacazette is not our preferred option, i assume he should be.

with Morata likely to move to chelsea and higuain to PSG, unless Asano is our primary target i don't see how we can compete with other teams.

read on the chelsea forum that Morata is a target after them almost confirming the belgian michi batchuyashi. so a good 100 mill or whatever on 2 strikers and we are still unable to find one?

seems like that year when we got all desperate and ended up with mert, santos and chamakh all over again.

atleast we got Xhaka so one signing a year maybe what we are able to do.

not sure sanchez and ozil will stick around if we finish 4th this season.

4.) 01 Jul 2016 13:47:36
Still early days laker. Just got to be calm I'm sure they're working hard. Do we as fans really want us to overpay? I know it's not our money but I don't personally.

5.) 01 Jul 2016 20:29:56
Thanks Ed.
Incredibly informative as usual.

6.) 02 Jul 2016 02:30:48
nice feedback from Ed002 as usual!
I sincerely hope we are focusing on Barbosa or, dare I say it, Benzema!
Got to agree with some of the above comments, our striker situation does not inspire any confidence as we get closer to the new season. We need to be more ruthless in the transfer market.

{Ed002's Note - There will always be some nervousness about Barbosa - who will be going to the Olympics - in that it is a major move for him culturally and football wise. Real Madrid might say otherwise but they would be more than happy to move Benzema on this summer although the player is keen to stay. PSG continue to look for a high-profile French signing - and Benzema is one of the options if the off-field issues he has to deal with can be overcome. However, the powers that have influence at PSG have other targets in mind and do not see his being French as being of any consequence and I would, at this time, discount a bid. Milan has spoken directly to Madrid about another player but have said that Benzema is not a player they can look to any longer - and with a change of manager coming I suspect they can be discounted. There may also be interest from English clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United. Right now there have been no approaches by either club and Arsenal have clearly defined targets they are working on already. I would not discount Arsenal from making an approach but other matters need to be clearer before that would happen. Manchester United are headed in a different direction.}

ED001 I'm getting slightly worried can you actually see us making anymore signings, as everyone we are linked too is all nonsense.

Cphayes75

{Ed001's Note - it is beginning to look like Wenger has given up on trying to strengthen the first team again, since Vardy turned down a move. Quite odd that he didn't even have any options set up ready in case it failed, as the Japanese lad would have been bought anyway. I have to say, it looks unlikely that it will be any more than a few unknowns for the U21s and academy now. Though a lot can change as moves take place elsewhere, making players available that are not currently. Clearly there is money there to spend if the right player comes on the market.}

1.) 13 Jul 2016 17:24:21
So we go into the new season with one recognised striker who won't even start the season, what a stingy club we now have,! itll come back and bite him on the a**s!

2.) 13 Jul 2016 17:27:25
I've stuck by Wenger every window. If this is true fire away lads it's unacceptable. However a can kind of understand no CF. just seem hard to come by. No CB is outrageous.

3.) 13 Jul 2016 17:45:27
Lol D16

Why are you surprised? This is typical Arsenal, after the 30 mill was spent that was it for me, the only way we will buy anyone else is to fund it with the sale of players, currently, Theo and Ox look like staying.

4.) 13 Jul 2016 18:26:56
Lmfao

If it wasn't wengers last season, I would be shouting wenger out

I for one will be glad to see the back of him.

5.) 13 Jul 2016 18:42:15
So if that's the case wenger obviously thinks that the reason we didn't win or even compete last year was because we were missing xhaka! If he is that lack lustre and wants to go out in a whimper in his last season then that's sad. Me for one thinks that a few more quality first team players will come in the next few weeks or so! Wether it's the world beating striker we all crave is another thing altogether.

6.) 13 Jul 2016 18:43:25
If we really are done in the market its going to be a very long miserable season for everyone and a poor way to end a 20 year relationship and holding on to both Mesut and Sanchez will be very very difficult and I for one wouldn't blame them if they left, at 27 both are in their prime and to good to spend thier best years chasing 4th and champions league last 16.

7.) 13 Jul 2016 18:49:00
Maybe he plans to use Theo of Alexis up front. Not saying I'm all for that but trying to get my head around it. And yes tbh I am still surprised after all these years. But still seriously who would you guys buy up front who's available and realistic? I wouldn't want him spending for the sake of it. I thought a CB was a must.

8.) 13 Jul 2016 19:28:11
I've thought that 16

He has the option of Giroud, Theo and Sanchez, then hope DW gets back a bit early .

16 he didn't need to spend 30 mill on yet another midfielder, add another 20 mill to that and he could find a striker, and yes we can afford it.

9.) 13 Jul 2016 19:28:38
The problem is even a few years ago players found us attractive (Sanchez and Ozil to prove the point) but now players think coming is a bad idea add that to the fact that wenger will not spend the money required! We are now in a cue behind United, city and Chelsea for players and soon to be competing with Liverpool and Spurs for what's left. And if wenger is leaving next year why is he wasting money on players for the future when they are not going to feature for 3-5 years? The next manager might want to play a different style and ship em out. We will soon find out if it's wenger or the club who refuse to spend top dollar when the next manager comes in. Knowing our luck I bet it's George bloody Osbourne.

10.) 13 Jul 2016 19:46:06
Let the fun begin, I going to get slaughtered for this but I'll stick by Wenger until at least the first game of the season, trying to be optimistic but I for one know if this Wengers last season which I don't believe it will be, Wenger stated 3 players max first team that is, so a CB and CF will be bought in my opinion but that's what it is my opinion it's been talked about a lot that we need to improve the spine of our team and Wenger might be arrogant and ignorant however stupid he is not and if this is going to be his swan song he's not going to wanna leave with his legacy some what in question he's going to wanna leave on his note and a premier league trophy for us fans
Hey all my opinion let the fun begin.

11.) 13 Jul 2016 20:07:24
Ignorance is making him look stupid, that can't be argued in still waiting for this super signing you announced lol.

12.) 13 Jul 2016 20:21:27
Convincing good players let alone top players to join us is getting more and more difficult as each not competitive season passes.
Mourinho Gardiola Conti Klopp and Poch can all paint a convincing picture of how their club is going places and why their clubs futures will be so much better next season, where does Arsene even begin to convince people our next season will be any different to our last 10 seasons?

13.) 13 Jul 2016 20:31:41
Exactly G62,
Especially when we sign top quality players like Sanchez and Ozil and than it's widely publicised they want to leave due to lack of progress and investment.

14.) 13 Jul 2016 20:32:34
I do agree these convosations are pointless at the moment let's worry come 1st September try and enjoy the summer boys. Me for one won't accept the heartbreak without the excitement and anticipation first.

15.) 13 Jul 2016 21:24:21
No point in having a Banter page until the start of the season then Sanogo.

Trouble is the transfer window mirrors many previous ones.

16.) 13 Jul 2016 22:52:19
I didn't mean that lol. I meant we can't call him for something he hasn't done yet, not let's not discuss it. The chances are it will be same old same old you never know.

17.) 13 Jul 2016 22:52:19

I hate the excuse used by Arsenal and Wenger that they are 'waiting for the right player to come on to the market' - I remember Gazidis peddling it out to some fans on ArsenalFanTV. That is utter bull. The reality is that they're just too lazy to go and find that player. As Leicester and West Ham showed, the right player is always out there if you look hard enough.

Do you think another striker might be looked at ED002, or just Asano?, is he good enough?

Cphayes75

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window opened yesterday and I am sure Arsenal will look to a number of players - and as I have said another striker is a possibility. I know nothing of Asano.}
