Hi Eds,

I just wondered if we are interested in signing Richarlison?

If reports are to be believed, our interest in Malcolm is dwindling. Could you explain why this is please?

Cheers for all the great work.

From one Ed to another.

{Ed002's Note - (a) The interest in Richarlson is limited to a watching brief - he can get game time and experience at Watford which he wouldn't get elsewhere. He needs that before a move. (b) The problem with Malcom is the price his agents told the interested sides that Bordeaux would demand. They would like lots of your English pounds Eddy.}

Hi Ed's,

I just wondered what you considered to be the biggest changes at Arsenal since Emery replaced Wenger?

Do you have an opinion on which Arsenal youngster may become the next big star / potentially be fast tracked to the first team next season?

Many thanks in advance,

Ed.

{Ed002's Note - The biggest change is the senior management structure that is disrupting the club and led to SM leaving. I cannot answer about players being fast tracked to the first team but Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun were the two picked out by an ex player at the start of the season - but I have not been following them in any way.}

Difficult to argue with that Ed - until we sort out that we will always have issues.

Then the back room staff

Then establish our true objectives as a club

Then a manager who can achieve that

Then sort out the wage bill

Then sort out the players

Gotta have strong foundations to build on.

I agree with that SY
We do need to
Define what our immediate objectives are first and foremost, it's no good just saying to be Champions of England and Europe because that's what people want to hear, at the moment that is a totally irrational expectation.

I think top 4 has to be our realistic aim.
How do we achieve that?

In my opinion it's pointless moaning about what we don't have until we start making the most of what we do have.
I genuinely believe we had the players to finish top 4 this season, probably not most other seasons but this season yes.

76 points wasn't beyond our capabilities and that would have put us 3rd.
Yes we are not alone in grossly underachieving this season but in truth we are all we are really interested in, United Chelsea Spurs are observational talking points but ultimately it's what happens at Arsenal that concerns us.

Where do we go from here?
Spending silly money isn't going to happen but that really isn't our biggest problem our biggest problem right now is exactly the same as it has been for many years now, getting the best out of what we do have!
I think if we achieve that then spending more money would bring results but there seems little point in spending more money on players who extremely quickly deteriorate after a few months leaving us back at square one.

Do you really think we had the players for top 4 g62? I think we should of finished top 4 from the position we were in with 5 games to go and the opposition we faced and its a travesty we couldn't get the points we needed, which would of been meagre in the end probably only 6 from the last 12,we got 1! 😂 The only reason we are so close is everyone else was somehow just as bad. Imo only really pea, laca, Leno and maybe torrira and kolasinac at a push are top 4 quality. Player for player I wonder how many of ours Utd, Chelsea or spurs fans would swap with ours, as bad as they think their own are?

This season as it turned out by luck more than judgement I do actually think we had the players but not because they were the 3rd best squad but because the others were so poor.
United have been in disarray since before the season started
Chelsea players and managers are like marmite and fish, when they gel they are formidable but when they don't they are underwhelming to say the least.
Spurs well they bought no one in the last 3 windows and had so many players at the world cup latter stages it was almost inevitable they would simply implode at some point.

While we had a brand new start with a new manager for the first time in 23 years, it was a fresh start for everyone that was reinforced with some excellent new players brought in by Sven.
I think we had more than enough ingredients coupled with loads of good fortune and top 4 was there for the taking Eden mate.
Next season is unlikely to be so generous in terms of the bar being so low and I'm pretty sure one way or another Spurs and Chelsea will be in much better nick, us and United with Ole and Dick? It's difficult for most Arsenal and United fans to get overexcited about our chances next season already:- (.

Why will Chelsea be in a better condition next year mate? Very high chance Hazard will go and they can’t strengthen if anything they will be just as weak.

6.) 06 May 2019 19:35:03
I'm not sure they will Banbury mate but I think they might part company with Sarri so might get the Mourinho Conte Chelsea/ new manager effect was behind my thinking.
Also I'm not 100% convinced Ole will be in charge of United next season that's a tough one to call because I'm not sure loyalty will outweigh the necessity and urgency at United to get back to the top.
