Hi Eds, any update on what's likely to happen with Bellerin this summer?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

Needless to say Arsenal are interested in anyone that breathes AGAIN!

Hi Eds,

I was wondering, given that Real are apparently looking at Lewandowski this summer, if we would return with a bid for Benzema? Also, could you clarify Benzema's circumstances with things that have apparently happened outside of football and whether this will effect the likelihood of him moving.

Thanks Eds.

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely anyone will take him, this incident with Valbuena is only the latest in a series of issues which surround him. He is a bit of a Ravel Morrison, still hanging round with gangsters and involved with their issues. Hence why he was asked to be a middleman in the blackmail. Knowing Wenger, and what he told me about how he looks at a player's background before signing them, I very much doubt he will move for Benzema.}

Ed01, I read that in a L'Equipe article Wenger is going to spend big on a striker. I assume he has a couple of targets on the radar and it seems that Giroud may not be guaranteed a first spot as much next year despite Wenger saying otherwise. Can you share anything with us? Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - Morata is the big target he wants. Comes down to agreeing a deal with Madrid and the player. Strange situation though. Not a fan of this way of working. Teams should not be allowed to put buyback clauses in if you ask me.}

2.) 28 May 2016 14:03:17
Cheers Ed.
I agree with the you on the buyback clauses. In the Morata case this summer it seems like its just going to make things a lot more complicated. Hopefully it won't become the end of the transfer window excuse for having not signed a striker. Fingers crossed Arsene pulls his finger out this summer.

{Ed001's Note - Real Madrid will be looking to sell him somewhere, so it is no excuse for not signing Morata.}

3.) 28 May 2016 14:52:10
Thank you - is this another case of all our eggs in one basket?

{Ed001's Note - if all your eggs were in this basket, I would have expected it to be done by now.}

4.) 28 May 2016 16:19:26
Well apparently we're in for Napoli's Duvan Zapata, although from what I've seen of him I'd prefer a proven world class 20+ goals a season basket.

5.) 28 May 2016 17:03:47
We need a much better stronger basket.

6.) 28 May 2016 18:34:58
More of a hamper really 62. Part of me still thinks we should have a go for Lacazette, but I just don't see it happening.

7.) 28 May 2016 19:11:37
Chances are we will huff and puff but I'm not sure we will be breaking our transfer record for the natural goal scorer we so obviously need to compete.

8.) 28 May 2016 19:58:40
To be honest I can see us signing a mediocre striker now that Welbeck is out, but I don't think we'll be breaking the bank for Morata or any other striker. Having said that we have made an early signing for what is big money by Arsene's standards, so who knows what the rest of the window holds.

9.) 28 May 2016 23:43:36
Marco rues or Alvaro Morata?

We'll get one of them :)

10.) 28 May 2016 21:08:50
I feel like I'm dreaming just now. Feels good to be a gunner this summer. Thanks for the info Ed001. Really appreciated mate.

{Ed001's Note - it is a big summer and a final push.}

11.) 29 May 2016 20:42:47
Didn't a lot of Arsenal fans say that last year Ed?
The years of almost criminal ignorance of the needs of the team in the transfer windows has left me seriously jaded, I really don't see us trying very hard for the central defender or striker that we need, yes all the right noises will be made now as it's pay up time for season tickets but ultimately we'll fall short and the same old excuses will be made and then don't forget Danny Wellbeck is on his way back and that's just like a new signing!

{Ed001's Note - I know it has been said before, but this year there is a lot more income to spend.}

12.) 30 May 2016 05:42:25
I really do hope you're right Ed and as ever thank you very much for all the work and insight you all give to the site.

{Ed001's Note - I am right there is more money to spend, the only question is whether it will get spent. Fingers crossed, because everyone else is spending so Arsenal need to keep up.}

13.) 30 May 2016 05:45:41
And thank you mate.

14.) 31 May 2016 03:32:56
Almost sound like an Arsenal fan there Ed!

{Ed001's Note - just thinking of what will make the season more exciting mate. You received the most money from the Prem TV deal for last season, so there is no excuse.}

Hi everybody, just thought I'd drop a January update to maybe help answer some questions. It is my understanding from different sources all about the place, that for now all January business is done. At least in regards to the signings of any first team players. So don't expect any more signings unless circumstances in the next couple of fixtures change the Wenger's mind. But given how going the start of February could see the return of Wilshere and co. it is unlikely that this will change.

Cavani now and in the summer will remain a big 'no' for the club. The truth is that after going to PSG, the player would have to take a pay cut that he will be unwilling to in order to move to any club outside of the big spenders.

Aubameyang is also no for the time being, despite a couple offers having been made the player will remain in Dortmund for the season and a move may be possible in the summer.

Heard a lot of people elsewhere talking about Götze, and the possibility of signing him in the coming weeks or in the summer. It is my understanding that despite interest, any move will not be decided until Ancelotti takes over for next season. Should he decided to get rid of Götze, I can see him remaining in Germany or going elsewhere, the only British club looking at signing him being Liverpool. Although in this instance the Klopp connection may be over-stated.

A little while back Ed 02 wrote up a big update, addressing a lot of the possible targets and subjects of interest for the club, and I suggest to all interested in targets for the summer to go and read that, as there are certainly a few names that we will be looking into.

So there we are, best to sit back and enjoy the rest of the January fixtures.

Hi Ed's, thanks as always for the work you guys do here. Just wanted to ask if there was any interest in ..................
Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - This is simply a random name - there would be no end to it if we answered such questions.}

Afternoon Eds and all,

Seen a lot over the past week or so about Van Persie getting offered to a few PL clubs, and wondered if there was even the slightest interest in Arsenal making a move, but also which clubs (if any) would be interested.
Admittedly, this really is a shot in the dark as I know that many of the fans wouldn't want to see him make a return to the club, but I just had to wonder.
Well that and I wondered what fellow gooners might think of of it all.

Thanks and great work as always Eds.

{Ed001's Note - none that I am aware of mate.}

1.) 09 Jul 2016 16:35:02
I think West Ham United said no thank you to him.

2.) 09 Jul 2016 17:51:51
Obviously it's a non starter but on free without the history he'd have been a good 1 season option from the bench.

3.) 09 Jul 2016 19:40:58
Fair point 62.

4.) 09 Jul 2016 23:24:03
If I was Ranieri I'd be looking at him.

5.) 10 Jul 2016 01:23:54
Gg he wouldn't be able to keep up with vardy and marez. Past it, i don't think many will touch him.

Hi Ed's,

Given that Stoke have put a £13m price-tag on Arnautovic, could you see the club going for a bid. I think his ability on the ball and versatility across the front three would make him a useful addition

Cheers Ed's.

GoonerSwan

{Ed001's Note - unlikely.}

1.) 15 Jun 2016 06:36:40
He is a player that I like. He is tall agressive and has an eye for goal. At £13m, he would definitely be worth considering.

Carvalho would be a good choice, although personally I think if we make any move for a player with unproven fitness at high levels, then we may as well gone in for Khedira on a free, that way we had the injury liability but also a world class player. Personally, i'd like Wenger to splash the cash on Krychowiak, although from what I've read here and around the internet, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen in January.

Personally, as a short term solution I would have liked it if we had gone in for somebody like Parolo or Biglia - both of Lazio - in January. Both are decent at covering that defensive midfield position and whilst neither are particularly young, their experience might be useful to us. However, I think the lesson learnt from signing Kimmy K a few years ago may stop us taking that route in Jan. Which is a shame because in his day Kim was class.
