Hi eds, got any news on the Martial link? Any truth behind it? Would be good for us

Cheers!

Groger

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what link you are talking about. Sorry.}

Sky saying Ox wants out. Just when he was starting to play well.

Groger

1.) 09 Mar 2017 10:40:55
Yes and it beggars belief that we have let the following players contracts run down to little over a year;
Sanchez
Ozil
Ox
Gibbs

There are possibly others.

2.) 09 Mar 2017 11:28:33
Fishy isn't it.

3.) 09 Mar 2017 13:06:53
Santi as well. Something is weird there. Then again who handles these contracts? Doubts it's arsene who sits there and handles them.

4.) 10 Mar 2017 12:15:48
Ox has been average for a long time now, has a few games a season where he plays well then slips back into mediocrity. Could honestly been 6 players from current squad maybe more, they're just not up to it.

Assuming thst Mahrez is now staying (judging by the owner's instagram post and the fact that he hasn't accepted our offer by now) , was wondering if we are looking into any other wingers? Up top and cb are the priorities i feel.

Thanks in advance eds.

Groger

1.) 05 Aug 2016 19:33:17
I'm not an ed, but I'd guess you're more or less correct mate, a striker and centre half are probably priorities, more so a CB with per out for 4/ 5 months.

It'll be an interesting 3 weeks, but I'm guessing that IF, we're making another signing, it'll be in the next 4-5 days.
We NEED a CB in before Liverpool.
Even Arsene can't be crazy/ stubborn/ deluded/ confident enough in a pairing from Gabriel/ Chambers/ Holding/ Bielik and I'm hoping we aren't rushing Kos back.

2.) 05 Aug 2016 20:52:58
I do agree we need a CB asap. But that aside I've been really impressed by holding.

3.) 05 Aug 2016 22:29:18
Him and beilik have both impressed D16 but they need game time to progress so what do we do?

Keep one, loan the other?
Loan both?
Keep both?

4.) 05 Aug 2016 23:15:39
Wenger mucked up chambers, i suggest they both find suitable teams and managers who will bring them on and teach them, they are the future. But so was/ is chambers and he is not progressing in the presen4 environment.

5.) 06 Aug 2016 12:39:35
Steve you suggest our players suitable teams and managers 😂😂. Come on Arsene is frustrating for a number of teams but there's a reason people like Alexis and ozil say they joined because of him. He's not useless at managing players.

6.) 06 Aug 2016 12:50:19
Spot Steve

Chambers has been damaged, he needs to get out on loan but then again so does Holding . surely?

7.) 06 Aug 2016 13:20:32
D16 I won't go into great detail but wenger for a start has never ptoduced a top class center back from a young age in all the time he has been here. He has produced some stinkers but defence has never been his strong point. And no I don't rate wenger that highly now. i'm not on about players liking him ( read the post) i'm on about his ability to produce central defenders and with the exception of one, defenders, . what's that got to do with liking someone.

8.) 06 Aug 2016 14:27:14
That's ridiculous. Kolo toure was 20 he turned out pretty good. And the others on the top of my mind should've done better but didn't live up to their own expectations. Such as senderos, Bartley, it's not easy finding defenders around the age of 17/ 18/ 19 and bring them through at a young age at a club like Arsenal. Us as fans will not give them time to settle in as we've explained we want everything now not few years down the line. When you say defence has not been his strong point do you mean youth wise or overall.

9.) 06 Aug 2016 15:29:59
" that's rediculous" and in twenty years you come up with not bad toure. And gloss over the djurous, senderos and say my statement was rediculous. If it was rediculous, cone up with the names that reflect that. The truth is you won't be able to and that's my point.

10.) 06 Aug 2016 15:32:57
D16 defence full stop has never been wengers strong point. As gunner said a few months back, without the influence of gg players in there we have never been regarded as being good at defending. Not by me by people who have played the game.

11.) 06 Aug 2016 15:51:29
From 2003 these are the good CBs we've had when they were signed initially.
Sol Campbell
Kolo Toure
William Gallas
Thomas Vermaelen
Laurent Koscielny
Per Mertesacker.
Squillaci and Silvestre were signed as back up when we didn't have the budget to sign good CBs.
Djourou and Senderos were not good enough.

12.) 06 Aug 2016 15:56:07
Right Steve cb's them players you named had the ability to be a lot better it's not arsenes fault they didn't live up to their potential. Granted it is hard to name any Young defenders who came through. But you could say that about a lot of clubs. Defence has never been his strong point there's always going to be bad with good and we've had many good defenders because of Arsene. Lauren, Campbell, koscielny, TV5, Cole, clichy, Sagna, bellerin, I'd say they are all very very good buys defensively. I see your side of it and you make a good point, But you need to see there is some good with the bad. As with every club and every manager. You continuously moan about every detail. i see you post so much about people lacking respect of you and attacking you on here. Is that any wonder why when it seems you lack respect of OUR manager. The one who despite what you say is still highly regarded as a world class manager by many professionals playing and not playing. And attacking him for every single thing wrong at our club.

13.) 06 Aug 2016 17:06:24
Course forgot about gallas.

14.) 06 Aug 2016 17:23:47
I guess Fergie and The special one develop all their own centre halves?
I think he helped enough players to say he develops players - I not going to list them all but you would be pretty stupid to think otherwise
Every manager has his strengths and should surround himself himself by back room staff etc to help the weaknesses.

15.) 06 Aug 2016 17:27:21
Steve - was Kos the finished article? What about Bellerin? EPL doesn't really give top sides like us time to develop a quality CB. Look at Stones and look at Adams in his early years. There is no room for a top 4 team to develop a CB because their mistakes cost too much.

16.) 06 Aug 2016 17:40:58
Finished articles sy4. Course they was when Arsene got them. Along with Cole, toure, TV5, clichy, Lauren, Sagna.

17.) 06 Aug 2016 17:50:57
Im not on about ready made replacements, will you lot read the posts. i'm on about youth or young lads who come with promise ie senderos, upson, djorou, miguel, chambers etc who do not get any better, in fact get worse. It is not only me if some ex footballers knock the way we defend a lot more than they praise it. Sol cambell etc all learned to defend else where under another coach. I repeat in twenty years name me 5 young center backs who have come in and improved and gone on to play top football under wenger. I've named five who didn't, if i'm so wrong name me five to equal your statement. He is not renowned in the world of football as a top defensive coach.

18.) 06 Aug 2016 17:53:16
Gallas was in his late twenties when he came and he learnt his trade not under wenger. Nothing to do with wenger but i'm sorry gallas was awful for this club, a right dick if you ask me.

19.) 06 Aug 2016 17:54:41
So the defenders that Wenger has brought through - Cole, Clichy, Bellerin, arguably Toure, Lauren (was a midfielder) , Djouorou (had a very good spell when played regularly) - not to mention out make shift back 4 that got us to the Champions League final.

But yeah, Wenger. Sh! t at coaching defenders.

Idiot.

20.) 06 Aug 2016 17:56:45
Wesley wrong debate mate, but you left out cygan and steponovs. Now they were embarrassing.

21.) 06 Aug 2016 17:58:31
Sy stones is at everton mate and adams was a product of gg.

22.) 06 Aug 2016 18:05:42
Come on guys you are really clutching at straws here, kos was 24 when he joined us, not quite a spring chicken, you are getting the point are you. Profile: young under 20, we signed or brought through the youth, gone on to be a top central defender. Just like the players we are talking about, holding and chambers. You know players we produce for the future.

23.) 06 Aug 2016 18:45:32
Well to be fair Steve it's hard to Nurture and bring through young CB's. It's a vital position which you can't mess up in. And they'll need game time. Arsene did that over the years you'd be straight on here moaning that he's playing them and not ready made players. He cannot win when people such as yourself criticise him for ever single thing. I'm not saying he is the perfect manager I'm not even saying i want him here. But stop being so determined on faulting him for everything. That list you provided most of them should've done better and become higher quality players. But they didn't because they didn't work hard enough or progress enough. That's their fault not Arsene.

24.) 06 Aug 2016 19:26:17
Steve - clearly you just want a pop at Wenger. Would you rather we still had GH!? Anyone can pick faults in anyone. I doubt Shakespeare was great at maths. If you want to pop at AW then fine but he has plenty good points and has done well for us. He is operating with a hand behind his back due to finances and many still believe he is the best option
Why do you always have to pop at our most successful manager?
GG played crap football, joined Spurs, sincere some of THE most boring players, was a tyrant Nd was not as successful as AW. Big deal, he still did well for the club and we had some great memories.
Can't we move on and accept he is staying and show him the respect he has truly earned.

25.) 06 Aug 2016 19:29:59
Kos was terrible when we signed him - someone developed him.

26.) 06 Aug 2016 19:31:48
Steve
You never answered my question

I guess Fergie and The special one develop all their own centre halves?

27.) 07 Aug 2016 00:24:25
Sy, i'm not picking on wenger, i'm asking for you to to show me i'm wrong in saying the lads we have now should go out and get experience with a manager who can improve them. I happen to think wenger isn't good at doing that. I want you and any other person to tell me some players who wenger has nurtured from a very youthful age and brought through and turned into a top central defender. If you can then i am obviously wrong. I don't think he has and his record for doing so doesn't back you up. Chambers when he came here was a top young center back, whar has wenger done for him. I don't want to see holding go the same way, for arsenals sake not arsenes.

28.) 07 Aug 2016 01:21:07
Skywalker the idiot is the idiot who doesn't read the posts properley since when have those players been central defenders.

29.) 07 Aug 2016 01:38:27
Sy I will answer your question. I do give him the respect I think he deserves.

30.) 07 Aug 2016 01:47:12
Ok Steve just because we've had players not fulfil their potential at CB does not mean Arsenal is crap with young CB's which is what you're saying. Many clubs and many big managers do not bring top quality CB's through the system as its not easy Hense why all the top clubs now buy them. And to furthmore add to my disagreement to what you're saying you said chambers coming to Arsenal was a top young centre back. That proves to me you are simply just having digs because if you search into chambers background you'll find he was always trained and nurtured as a RB at Southampton. Its Arsene who sees him as a CB. He may have been able to play there yes. But he was highly regarded as potential as a RIGHT BACK.

31.) 07 Aug 2016 03:21:06
Skywalker thanks for the idiot. If you read the post properly, you would see that most of the players you mentioned never played center back and please please, djurou good, he was a total disaster, what do you look for in a center backs. Respect.

32.) 07 Aug 2016 09:13:39
Steve - I have not seen him nurture an Adams or a Terry. Not sure that's a crime. We have seen him nurture players all over the pitch. If that means he has to sign a very unpolished Kos and IMPROVE him then I am fine. Personally I want a finished article at the heart of defence. I don't think the football world allows time for a top top team to develop one. Special one, Fergie etc buy for this position and so should we. Like I say, we developed Kos and you know he is a far far better defender now - I assume Wenger did something there or his defence coaches did.

33.) 07 Aug 2016 09:42:59
How many top class cb's has mourinho produced from a very young age? Actually, how many players has mourinho brought through from a young age at all.

Wenger isn't in charge of youth development.

34.) 07 Aug 2016 11:10:48
Cs how many trophies has maureen won in the last 10 years. How many senderosses, djurous, miguels or upsons has he produced. I don't follow maureens achievements that closely to know who he has or hasn't produced he may not have produced a single one but I do know this, he wouldn't have ever put out players of said quality and the likes of cygan, stepanovs and sqillachi, however desperate he might of got.

35.) 07 Aug 2016 11:24:33
To be fair Steve he might've with such a shoe string budget. It's no excuse now but back then it was understandable. Do we really have players of that quality in our squad now? Players that you dread to be on the picture. Really think you're being far to harsh here. Personally.

36.) 07 Aug 2016 12:43:00
D16, a lot of teams run on a shoestring budget, don't get as much success as us, but they don't have players like that playing for them andchow many of the lesser teams came to buy them off us, only fulham and where did they end up.

37.) 07 Aug 2016 23:03:24
Essentially Steve, I think you're talking out of your arse.

If you think Wenger is the sole person responsible for coaching defenders, or any other position, then you really are an idiot. Any head coach has coaches under him to do the specifics but under a remit.

And to narrow your argument down specifically to central defenders is also farcical. You're moaning for the sake of moaning.

Do us all a favour and leave your nonsense off an enjoyable site.

38.) 08 Aug 2016 21:38:05
Skywalker i suggest you don't answer my ridiculous posts pal because i won't yours. Lack of respect.

39.) 09 Aug 2016 02:51:38
Okay let's do your plan of loaning them out, certainly can't be during this window. Without a cb signing they will get mins and then we will see.

Hi eds,
Was wondering if you knew anything about Ozil's contract situation? Is it looking likely that he will sign a new contract? Same goes for Jack. Both playing well!

Cheers.

Groger

{Ed002's Note - I try and avoid everything about contracts - they are not of interest. However, if Arsenal make a stupid offer Oezil may agree another contract. I can't help about JW}

21 Jun 2017 13:05:11
Welbeck given Number 7 shirt at the store. Thanks for the good times Alexis.

Groger

1.) 21 Jun 2017 14:41:27
Another example of media spinning things and people being gullible. It doesn't mean he's leaving. Granted he probably will but this indicates nothing. At the top of that very same list was alexis with the number 7. They wouldn't have advertised both if he was 100% leaving.

2.) 21 Jun 2017 17:42:13
You can't buy a Wilshere 10 shirt, what do you think about that Sanogo?

3.) 21 Jun 2017 18:39:47
I'm having trouble getting this season Benzema shirt too, I've had not problem the last 5 seasons, I've had to settle for an Higuain home and away for this season :- ( what ever is going on?

4.) 21 Jun 2017 18:48:44
Ffs stoner it was going to be my one saving grace mate. Get his number on my back every year. In an ideal world we make signings that we need and Jackie boi comes back and does the business for the gooners. i love anyone who bleeds arsenal mate.

5.) 22 Jun 2017 07:09:56
Sanogo it would be fantastic if that happened and having been a huge fan of his nothing would please me more.

Sadly the games I watched him play for Bournemouth he looked a total shadow of the player I believed he was going to be.

6.) 22 Jun 2017 18:51:13
I don't believe it stoner the guy looks like a world beater. And no I'm not taking these rose tinted specs off.

7.) 22 Jun 2017 19:40:06
OMG Stoner! You just said something negative about Jack! You think you can just speak about his shadow without repercussions? Now Sonogo is going to have to keel you! Was nice knowing you mate.

8.) 22 Jun 2017 22:12:21
Jesus Sharpie, I thought I'd got away with it but you've just stoked his fire. I'm leaving the country A-sap! 😂.

15 Jun 2016 00:09:06
Don't see why we don't go in for Lacazette. PSG, Tottenham and West Ham are all showing interest as far as i am aware. Does Wenger not rate him?

Thanks Eds.

Groger

{Ed091's Note - ill text him and ask.

1.) 15 Jun 2016 12:51:36
Few times I've seen him live he's looked pants.

Anyone notice who's been starting up front for France? ;-)

2.) 15 Jun 2016 13:40:28
Did he reply ed091 :p.

{Ed091's Note - he says he rates them all as equal, like his children.

08 Jun 2016 20:52:20
Hi eds, hearing that we recently put in a bid for Mahrez. Bit of a longshot I know, but any truth in it?

Groger

09 Jan 2016 09:35:46
Hi Eds,
Just reading all this stuff about pep would be a perfect fit for us. Say Wenger does win the league, would him going upstairs and pep coming in be a possibility or is it just between City, united and chelsea for his signature?

Thanks!

Groger

1.) 09 Jan 2016 10:00:17
If Wenger were to leave at the end of his current contract in 2017, I do not believe he will consider moving upstairs. Assuming his health holds, I believe he may, if offered take another club job abroad, possibly at PSG and then manage the French national team. As Wenger keeps himself fit and loves the day to day work running a club side, I could see him managing at club level until his mid-70's. Don't rule out an extension of his current deal at Arsenal. He is taking the club into a new era, with 2 FA Cup wins and a serious Premier League challenge this season. Imagine he were to win the Premier League this season and follow that up with a successful 2016-2017 season, would he want to leave without winning the Champions League, assuming he has a squad capable of challenging?

{Ed025's Note - its called going out at the top RG, SAF did the same mate..

2.) 09 Jan 2016 13:09:58
I may be proved wrong, but I don't think Wenger would depart as a desire to go out at the top. He has stated that assuming his health holds, he would depart when he believes he has taken the club as far as he can. I also believe, he was wounded by the fans turning on him, as well as the possibility that now his marriage has broken down and his daughter has grown up, he may have other reasons, possibly a new partner, to be in France.

3.) 09 Jan 2016 13:51:13
Rg69, he will be offered a role uostairs. He might or might not take it. But as for moving abroad full time, no he wont. He's lived in the same part of London going to the same restaurants and seeing his same local friends for 20 years practically. He's settled. At most he'll take the France national job because that is practically part time. But I know for a fact he's settled where he is.

Sky saying that West Ham want him. Personally think its a good move. He would do alright for them and not sure he would be happy if we bought in Lacazette (mbappe just ain't happening) .
Definitely want to see the back of Theo but i know he's one of those players that will go somewhere else and start banging in the goals, especially against us.

Na can't see sanchez signing for us. What i don't get is that Sanchez will have to compete with Aguero and Jesus up top. In the wing positions, sanchez would be competing with Sterling, Bernando silva and Sane. If he were to stay at Arsenal he would be the main man for us but it doesn't seem like he wants this. Not sure what this fascination with Champions League is as i cannot see Man City winning it. If its for the mere fact of the pull of quality players, eds have already said that this shouldn't be too much of a hinderence and i think they're right. I think its just that Sanchez was promised some big signings and that just hasn't happened. I would be very surprised if we brought any big names again this window but would like to be pleasently suprised.

Surely a bid of this size for a striker means Sanchez is on his way out. Worrying times.
