Hate to say it, but I think our incoming business is completed for this summer. If the likes of Ox, Gibbs, mustafi, Lucas leave then this has to got to go down as one of the worst recent windows.
Come winter time when we inevitably have half the squad on the injury table we will regret losing our squad depth.

{Ed002's Note - The club may still make an addition or two, but they will stand firm and not be ripped off or make knee-jerk changes just for the sake of it. They know that in the next 48 hours Manchester City, or PSG if Mbappe moves elsewhere, could still come after Sanchez and they have to make provision or reject any sale. The club has an interest in an Inter player and Mustafi gives the opportunity to facilitate a discussion (there has already been a discussion on Thursday as I explained) to see if something can be done. If Mustafi goes then the club will lookto replacing him but I doubt they would shift attention from those they have already looked at to buy just for the sake of it - so if they cannot get someone they already see as a good option, they might wait.}

1.) 27 Aug 2017 12:08:59
would that player be Brozovic.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I have explained that there is interest (over and over).}

2.) 27 Aug 2017 16:00:34
I've seen you mention it once or twice ed 😂.

3.) 27 Aug 2017 21:07:04
Thanks Ed, what you say makes sense.

Do you see Ozil leaving before the deadline?

Thanks,

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

4.) 27 Aug 2017 21:37:53
Ed - you doubt we'd buy at the last minute for the sake of it, even though Wenger has done this consistently with players he clearly doesn't fancy that much like Perez? Appreciate you don't have a crystal ball, but I'd say it's guaranteed?!

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly AW should be spending this season finding a successor for next season but he needs to keep the team together. There is no easy fix. The players have not suddenly gone bad so there is a need to get them aligned. There is a lesson to be learned over Lemar. We will see what happens this week but he should move for the three that are needed.}

5.) 27 Aug 2017 22:34:24
ed what do u mean successor for next season? arsene signed a two year deal so should be there next year, tell me if i'm wrong though, i might of got it wrong.

{Ed002's Note - he is far from a stupid man and part of his remit will be to identify a successor. I explained over the summer that the club looked at options and they cannot go beyond the end of this season without knowing the way forward.}

6.) 27 Aug 2017 22:43:25
Sorry Ed- what 3?

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts, but it may have ended up on the European pages.}

7.) 27 Aug 2017 23:32:49
Cheers Ed. This feels frighteningly like when United spanked us bank holiday weekend 6 years ago. Nothing has been learned, nothing changes. In all 3 games this season we've looked vulnerable, and now it looks as though he's lost the dressing room to me. That nice run at the end of last season seems like a distant memory and was just papering over the cracks.

25 Aug 2017 18:13:55
Saw a rumour we were looking at Asensio from Madrid. Certainly not holding my breath on that.

HgF

1.) 25 Aug 2017 21:24:22
He's probably the replacement for lemar. We were looking at him.

2.) 26 Aug 2017 09:53:30
We are just looking at him nothing more and nothing less, I can't see R. Madrid selling such a player nevermind him wanting to join us when I'm sure he would have better options and better suiters.

10 Aug 2017 21:01:02
Real Madrid reportedly looking at Alexis, I'd take the money and run. Get bale coming the other way 😂.

what a shambles. We'll be lucky to get Europa League football next season.

for those of you saying that Sterling is on a par with Walcott I'm afraid you are wrong. Sterling has achieved far more in his shorter career than Walcotthe and, has a far better injury record.

Im interested to see where Arsene would rank among the managers in the premier league.
I Seriously think he'd be lucky to be in my top 10.

HgF

1.) 28 Aug 2017 16:52:59
If you took away the fist 10 years and judged him 100% on the last 10 he would be relegation material but because people include his past record when deciding who is the best now he would still make top 10, but that would be heavily reliant on his past record.
Pelgrini Mancini Mourinho Ranieri Ancelotte all did better and titles but were sacked yet Arsene hasn't got even close and has outlasted them all with the Arsenal fans approval, says a lot in my opinion.

28 Aug 2017 12:49:45
Wenger signed both Mustafi and Lucas last year due to fan pressure. Wenger did not want to sign mustafi and looked at Kostas Manolas first to no avail. I think Wenger now is letting them both go in order to prove a point. Due to Wengers stubborness I don't think we'll buy anyone, and even if we do because he has left it so late the prices will be massively over inflated and they will ultimately be panic buys after what was probably.

HgF

1.) 28 Aug 2017 13:33:24
Nonsense. When has Wenger ever done anything due to fan pressure. He signed them because of a team need and tried to budget buy. Letting both go is a mistake, plenty others I'd release before them.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 15:28:31
I've read that Wenger has said or at least is inclined to not sign anyone and wait for VvD and Lemar in January or next summer. As neither mustafi or perez were first choice i'd say that these signings were due to fan pressure, and panic buys after another embarrassing loss to the scousers last season.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 16:24:42
The signings were due to Wenger missing his original targets because of his stubborness. He wouldn't spend money to keep fans happy, what sort of a statement is that.

24 Aug 2017 19:08:02
it's all well and good letting players like Alexis and Ox and letting them see out their contracts but you have to question the motivations of players who have made it clear that they do not want to be at the club.

HgF

1.) 24 Aug 2017 19:32:07
The Ox better be motivated or else he will not be going to the world cup! If he doesn't perform Bellerin is a more than decent FB and Iwobi is just as good up top.
I don't worry about Sanchez form as he's actually world class! At least we had him for 4 years:) He's done more than the Ox has and will ever do. I don't mind players wanting to leave or demanding high wages as long as they do the business on the pitch to a high consistent standard anybody who doesn't is easily replaceable.

2.) 24 Aug 2017 19:58:03
What does everyone see in Iwobi? Sorry but the lad has 1 good 2 okish games and 7 virtually invisible games every 10 he plays, there is simply no comparison between Iwobi and Rashford or Ali so he shouldn't be good enough for our first team.
Xhaka and Iwobi what is it about them?

3.) 24 Aug 2017 20:22:28
Xhaka and Iwobi are squad players until they prove otherwise. I don't think either is better than Ox nore is he much better than them. The difference with Iwobi is he is at the beginning of his development yet the Ox is in the middle of his. If he doesn't sign a new contract I'd rather Arsenal played Iwobi to further his development quicker as we will need him on form to prepare for Sanchez and oxs inevitable departure. The Ox is playing a dangerous game leading up to the world cup as Arsenal have plenty of players who can do a similar job.

4.) 24 Aug 2017 21:07:58
I see what your saying but where would Iwobi get game time but with Arsenal? Burnley Brighton? Certainly not Chelsea Utd City Spurs Liverpool or Everton there for sure, same question about Xhaka? Yet many are happy to build a team around him and incorporate Iwobi into it.
Sorry but until we expect the same from all our players as the teams who win and compete for titles we will always be on the outside looking in.

5.) 24 Aug 2017 21:20:28
Gunner I think the "club" have managed over the years to lower some people expectation. The fourth place trophy attitude.

6.) 24 Aug 2017 21:42:36
I don't rate him at all.

7.) 24 Aug 2017 22:08:14
Without meaning to be sure to anyone Steve for a very big club we have very low satisfaction levels and that includes many of the fans.
No one at Liverpool City Chelsea Utd will all be thinking of last 16 in the Champions league as success and along with Spurs none of their fans will see 4th and 10+ points behind the champions as premier league success, but an awful lot of Arsenal fans will see regaining 4th and 15 points behind the winners as a very good season as top of course will Arsene and the board.
We have forgotten what it takes to be considered a big club by anyone but ourselves.

8.) 24 Aug 2017 22:11:15
I won't knock iwobi but he has a lot of improving to do and we can't just say let's rely on him to replace a player. We won't ever win the league with hope.

we're blaming Arsene because it is the same thing season in and season out. He's been manager for over 20 years, yes the players didn't play well enough but these are all his players. He picks the team.
When we moved the Emirates we were told we would be competing with the likes of Madrid and Barcelona so we went along with it, paying higher prices than any other club in the world. These prices have only gone up.
In this time we have not won the league. 13 years and you have the cheek to ask why are people blaming Arsene. If you could name me another supposed big club that would keep a manager who fails time after time I'll eat my hat.
We came 5th last year for the first time in the Wenger era, and what does he do? get a pay rise of 2 million a year.
Of course the problems come from above Wenger but whilst he is at the helm we are only going to get worse.

About half of my original post didn't send for some reason. I went on to say that when the times comes (now) when we are financially ready to compete again and want to offload the squad players on high wages, clubs lower down the league cannot afford to pay for them. I think our fallure to get rid of the likes of debuchy, gibbs, Jenkinson etc. is because of a terrible wage policy in recent years.
And Stoner, I don't think anyone knows what you're getting at with that reply.

By no means am I saying Lacazette is a bad player. And I'm not in the a Wenger out brigade. I just don't know if he is the player who will score the goals to win us the league.
