Nketiah is going out on loan to augsburg.

Just heard that we are trying to convince ozil to move to inter so that we can get perisic.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 26 Jan 2019 21:21:56
Ive heard inter aren't interested.

{Ed0333's Note - where did you hear this?

2.) 26 Jan 2019 22:47:22
I think a lot of teams would take Özil. It's the wages that I bet not a lot of teams would like to pay.

{Ed0333's Note - not many teams would like to pay £350k a week to a 29 year old? No really?

3.) 27 Jan 2019 17:49:26
I reckon we would still need to continue to 200,000 of the 350,000 if he leaves Just to make a move possible for anyone to accept.
How ever did we agree to pay 350,000 per week in the first place, just writing it makes my jaw drop.
Whoever negotiated that? And who ever rubber stamped it rather sacking the bloke who agreed it on the spot.
No wonder we are short of transfer funds.

4.) 27 Jan 2019 11:11:10
From my sauce ed0333, can't remember if it was the red or brown one.

{Ed0333's Note - mixture of ketchup and HP maybe lol.

5.) 27 Jan 2019 20:20:16
It's got nothing to do with his age, Ed. I'd happily have Arsenal pay a 29 year old, 350k a week if they made the difference week in week out.

6.) 27 Jan 2019 20:33:31
The ozil payrise is up there with the worst financial decision this club has ever made and ozil is nothing but a theif at the moment. I just hope that for arsenal football club a solution can be found to end the financial strangulation.

22 Jan 2019 07:35:43
According to Ornstein, Arsenal have approached Monchi for the Technical director role. would be brilliant if this happens.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 22 Jan 2019 08:58:42
He also noted that we are targeting 2 loan deals this month, with Denis Suarez being one. I wonder who the 2nd is, does anyone have any idea who the other one could be? He is a very reliable source and is rarely wrong.

2.) 22 Jan 2019 11:16:50
A right back maybe? I don't think Lichtsteiner is good enough cover.

3.) 22 Jan 2019 12:11:40
I very much doubt a RB will be on the cards, we have Lichsteiner and Jenkinson who both play there, also Maitland-Niles and Mustafi are capable of playing there and we have the quite highly rated youngster Osei-Tutu.

4.) 22 Jan 2019 14:13:50
I'm sure we won't sign a RB, but we should! They are capable of playing there, covering a game or two, OK. but would you want any them to for the rest of the season, in big games? that's been the whole problem with our defence, we have loads of defenders by name, but hardly any actually want to see on the team sheet! 😂.

5.) 22 Jan 2019 17:47:19
I still think teams with poorer individual defenders perform betrer as a unit than ours do, there lays the real problem in my opinion.
An organised team of average players will always compare favorably to a group of disorganised individuals regardless which individuals you bring in.
Get the game plan first then bring in upgrades to improve an already established organised unit.

6.) 22 Jan 2019 22:08:33
Read that it was Rodriguez as, with ramsey going to juve this month for a fee. Not sure how reliable the info is.

7.) 23 Jan 2019 11:28:48
I can only see Rodriguez being used as ballast for Hazard or Erikson - why would RM recalibrate his loan deal to come to us.

8.) 23 Jan 2019 15:19:54
Recalibrate? Hahaha.

9.) 23 Jan 2019 16:54:35
I'm all ears for a better word Jackskin.!

10.) 23 Jan 2019 17:19:24
Maybe the Ed's could confirm but there has been reported interest of Arsenal trying to get Athletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins on loan.

Don't shoot the messenger.

{Ed002's Note - If you are a Newcastle fan I can confirm talks. If you a Monaco fan I can confirm a slightly strange proposal.}

01 Jan 2019 14:12:24
And will the club look at Benatia? I think he would be decent for us. And I've heard from someone that Arsenal are trying to tie up a loan deal for Keylor Navas. Don't know how accurate it is.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 02 Jan 2019 03:50:11
Navas is good but that would be a baffling move. Leno is proving to be a solid keeper making do with a rubbish defence in front of him. Cech is an able backup. This whole window might end up being very weird.

2.) 02 Jan 2019 09:07:12
I envisage us brining in a keeper in the summer when Cech's contract expires, not before.

3.) 03 Jan 2019 03:55:08
Agree, Navas would be puzzling given our needs elsewhere.

As tough as it may be to accept, it looks like Arsenal will try to sign 1-2 players but will not be spending big.

If we make it to the Champion's League then I'd expect bigger spending in the summer.

Please no Cahill.

01 Jan 2019 14:09:01
What is the situation with our lb's? With Monreal leaving in the summer, is jose gaya still an option? Are the club still interested in junior firpo?

Joseph Citizen

1.) 03 Jan 2019 03:59:57
Emery seems to like Kolasinac, and so do I, so I hope he stays. He's better as a LWB than a LB in a back four, so it depends what formation Emery wants to go with long term.

Ricardo Rodriguez would be my choice, I think he could be available in the summer if Milan don't make the Champion's League.

With an 'option to buy' clause, when a club decides to exercise that option do they pay the fee upfront or can it be paid in installments?

Joseph Citizen

{Ed002's Note - Case by case.}

29 Jan 2019 11:35:13
We may not be signing any players which is a good thing. in the summer we need to ship out over ten players and start to rebuild.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 29 Jan 2019 12:00:48
The job Emery and the new backroom staff were left by Gazidis and Wenger is huge. Emery was left the weakest Arsenal squad in decades. He made some decent signings last summer, but many more are needed.
Ramsey, Lichsteiner, Cech and Welbeck are almost certain to depart.
Jenkinson, Elneny, Ozil, Mustafi, Martinez and Mkhitaryan should be shipped out.
That leaves a squad in desperate need of reinforcements.
The squad that should remain for next season:
G: Leno
RB: Bellerin (when fit again)
LB: Kolasinac and Monreal
CB: Koscielny, Sokratis, Mavrapanos and Holding (when fit)
DM: Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi and Maitland-Niles
AM: Iwobi, Nelson,
A: Lacazette and Aubameyang

That is 16 players, including U21 players such as Guendouzi and Nelson. We therefore need to bring in as amany 9 players! Of course we also have some promising youngsters. Absolutely essential signings are a keeper, a RB and a pair of offensive midfield players. The magnitude of Emery's job is huge, particularly working under the coinstraints of the poor financial position he inherited. There are question marks over some of the players I inserted for next season; 2 are long term injuries extending into next season. Players such as Iwobi and Xhaka need to improve and youngsters such as Nelson need to settle into the PL.

2.) 29 Jan 2019 18:47:24
The thing is getting the best out of what you have and I really can't believe our current defenders can't be better organised and trained into a much more effective unit than they currently are or have been for a very long time.
On Xhaka! He is the only player to start every game this season and last season too, in fact he's never been absent from our premier league stating 11 since he arrived other than when he's been suspended and coincidently we haven't finished top 4 since he arrived either.
If Dick like Arsene isn't prepared to leave him out of his starting 11 no matter how poor he is what is the likelihood of Emery being prepared to part company with his only ever present starter?

3.) 29 Jan 2019 20:31:21
So true 62 - what is the defence coach doing. Emery should be doing far better with what he’s got and came into the season with a weak and depleted defence but did nothing. Tactics - pack midfield and compromise creativity. It’s not worked and he’s in charge. No organisational skills and poor tactics - something we were crying out for under Wenger. So no improvement there but less exciting going forward. People can hang their hat on the Chelsea performance but they sucked. Our 22 match run was littered with good fortune and terrible defending plus strange tactics.
Seems like a nice man and let’s the board know he needs funds. But grade C this season for effort and results for me. We are still relegation material in defence and poor home record.
.

4.) 29 Jan 2019 21:20:36
I never expected improvement on our league position in season one SY mate but I did expect improvement where we needed it most in defence.
Until we sort our defence out we will never challenge again for anything other than domestic cups.
Ideally we need mix of Arsene and George in our next manager but if we had to chose Just one of the two we needed someone who could lay good solid foundations and make us difficult to beat again and more than capable against anyone before appointing another Arsene who could add the razzmatazz to those solid foundations to make us brilliant again.
I like Emery on a personal level but then again I liked Arsene on a personal level too but Arsene certainly wasn't ever going to make us contenders again even with another 22 seasons and I've seriously begging to have bigger and bigger doubts about Dick the longer he's here, obviously he needs two seasons at least but he needs to start showing he capable of organising us defensively pretty soon.
The players we have are better than Arsene got our of them and dito for Dick too.

5.) 30 Jan 2019 06:30:45
Couldn’t agree more and also on the two season piece.

27 Jan 2019 14:11:10
Gary cahill? 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 27 Jan 2019 16:49:49
Doubt chelski will be keen on helping us out but could have been a good call to help out until the summer. don't see it happening somehow.

2.) 27 Jan 2019 17:28:12
Trouble is no one seems interested in what we want only what's good for them, Juve Barcelona and individual players don't share our view on it all being about us, strange people:-)
Surely it's a case of

Dear opposing club would you be interested in loaning us player X with an option not an obligation to buy in the summer
Love Arsenal

Dear Arsenal
No!
Love aposing club.

Dear aposing club
OK
Take care
Arsenal

Ask the question accept the answers move on. Is it really any more complicated than that in reality?

3.) 27 Jan 2019 17:49:49
I don't think it is quite as simplistic as that, gunner, nice if it was.

4.) 27 Jan 2019 18:28:33
But surely Steve if someone wants to sell a car and you offer to borrow it for 5 months then decide but they say no they want the car gone done and dusted, it is as simple as buy it or walk away, no?
What's to talk about?

5.) 27 Jan 2019 18:47:48
That would be great gunner, if we were buying a car. Dealing with finances, ffp, footballers, agents, directors of football, managers and coming to agreements make it nothing like buying a car. Lol.

6.) 27 Jan 2019 19:21:45
If the owner wants to sell and you only want to borrow then I'd have thought it was exactly like buying a car house or old suitcase at a boot sale the seller is only looking for a " sold as seen no return policy " regardless of who gets involved lawyers traffic wardens or mother in laws the possession is 9/ 10 of the law and it's up to to the buyer to agree or move on.

7.) 27 Jan 2019 19:29:37
The only thing that is like buying a second hand car, is, you don't know if you have bought a dud or a good un until you have had it a while.

8.) 27 Jan 2019 21:20:09
That's how it works for everyone Steve, the seller calls the tune ultimately, I'm not saying give them what they want but I am saying accept move on forget it and look elsewhere if your not prepared to do a deal on their terms because ultimately they hold all the cards.

9.) 27 Jan 2019 21:44:33
Gunner, wth all these links coming out, it looks like that's exactly what we are doing, we are moving on and leaving our card.

10.) 27 Jan 2019 23:10:12
Then in that case let's watch our cards unfold in the next 4 days mate when all the media talk will mean nothing and facts will be facts.
We will either have new players or excuses/ reasons why we don't have new players.

20 Jan 2019 09:47:07
I think the club should take a look at Jeremy toljan.

Joseph Citizen

13 Jan 2019 22:28:36
Just watched a betis game. Quique Setién is a superb manager brings about the memories of lucien favre at Dortmund. still kick myself why we never went for him but as Klopp once said, the premier league loves "hollywood" managers.

Joseph Citizen

1.) 14 Jan 2019 07:57:04
We already have a decent manager. The problem is that he inherited a weak squad and has lost 2 players for the season to injury, one player out with a long term injury and 2 players on their way out: Ramsey as his contract isn't being renewed and Ozil because he doesn't fit Emery's requirements, In addition their are some players who simply are not good enough.
Emery did a decent job when he brought in 5 players for £70m in the summer. He has his hands tied due to the poor financial decisions made during the Gazidis/ Wenger era and reportedly has to what until the summer to make permanent signings, when income comes in from new commercial deals and funds to pay the wages of new players will be freed up as players going out of contract and/ or being moved on are made available. It'stelling that the highest earner, Ozil, appears surplus to requirements and Ramsey who reportedly demanded high wages are being moved on. Both players, Ozil in particular add little to the team defensively. The attcking midfeild lacks any players that can help defensively and in the modern game, particularly in the PL, defensive ability throughout the team is essenatial. No longer can teams accommodate players that fail to contribute defensively. It seems that we may well sign Denis Suarez, a player I know little about and if we can get Ozil off the books, perhaps Ever Banega may join. There is talk of a swop involving Ramsey and Benatia, but thsi would surprise me as another defender in his 30's makes little sense. Indeed, I believe Emery would prefer to sign midfielders that can help defensively and will play his favoured 4-2-3-1, with 4 fit CB's and Holding to return next season, we have sufficient cover.

As i had said, i'd be very surprised if his 2 year contract will be extended. he is just a transition manager and not a long term manager. his job is to get us back to the ucl in 2 years and then he's gone after that but be careful what you wish for coz Arteta may come in and just mess it up all over again.

The 3 at the back is killing us. We're playing 3 centre backs and all of them don't want to tackle. I'm not in any way panicking but I don't think Emery's 2 year contract will be extended.

Type I saw somewhere that he had a signed a pre-contract with Benfica in anticipation of being released from his contract. I don't know how true that is.
