talking to people at an arsenal game, the news doing the rounds/ rumours is that the management want to get joachim loew.

now i dismissed this obviously but now been reading on ed002 favourite platform twitter ;) that this is being bandied about more.

maybe its just rumours but this game was just after new years took awhile to catch up.

i do apologise if this is not juicy as i don't know any builder who has an aunt who drives a cab with a dog and the dogs puppy told me the rumour.

Lakerville

1.) 01 Feb 2018 11:48:13
Exactly rumours i had been seeing and hearing. Interesting appointment if true.

2.) 01 Feb 2018 12:46:47
it seems like there is something going on behind the scenes, obviously it maybe just everyone reading too much into it, but ian wright said the players are not responding to wenger, and it feels like there is an internal power struggle, not sure if he knows something or is assuming like the rest of us.

i do hope wenger can win the carabao cup and call it quits or even the europa. anyway i think this season is a wash, give youth a chance and build team chemistry.

Good thing is the players from arsenal who will be at the world cup playing major minutes won't be many. Iwobi, ozil, kos will start, but monreal, mustafi and bellerin will likely be subs.

3.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:40
That rumour seems to have been floating around for a while LV. Perhaps people are looking at international managers who may call it a day after the WC this summer and putting 2 and 2 together? To be fair I could easily see France looking for a new manager if they don't win it with their current squad, and I am sure plenty would put Arsene forward as the next french manager if he wanted it? Combine that with perhaps Jochaim Lowe also perhaps calling it a day and looking to go back into club management, and i suppose you can see why these rumours exist.

04 Jun 2017 08:33:29
eds i don't want to talk about players arsenal are linked with, but who is interested in the players we currently have?

ox, lucas perez, giroud, sanogo, gibbs, wilshire, debuchy.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - (a) Possibly Liverpool but it makes no sense (b) Sevilla, Villarreal and possibly Real Sociedad (c) Marseille but it won't happen (d) Lower French or Italian sides I would think (e) ? (f) Bournemouth (g) ?}

1.) 05 Jun 2017 04:48:14
Wilshere's being touted to WHam I think. Might be best for all parties really.

2.) 05 Jun 2017 11:01:16
I hear Newcastle are interested in Gibbs, any truth in this Eds? The fee i heard was £15 million, this seems unrealistic however due to his injury record and only having a year left on his contract.

{Ed025's Note - it certainly looks a possibility at this stage jim..

3.) 05 Jun 2017 10:11:53
appreciate the response ed, would have assumed they would have to go on a free, as most clubs who would want these players probably would not want to pay the insane salaries we have put them on.

{Ed002's Note - You are right that clubs in Europe would not match the salaries.}

4.) 06 Jun 2017 14:32:38
Because you have a team of mercenaries who wouldn't play for Arsenal if you didn't bribe them. That is exactly the problem with the squad!

You will soon find out the horrible truth of Europa League football. Top players like Mbappe won't sign unless you pay £100M and budget breaking wages on top. If Arsenal follow this path then they will soon become the next Leeds or Nottingham Forest.

03 Aug 2016 15:04:47
can i ask if arsenal are entertaining offers for sanchez?

and if so what sort of price are they looking for, as we know juve want Sanchez.

Lakerville

1.) 03 Aug 2016 19:54:53
I'm not 'ITK' but I see no chance of Alexis leaving. He's excited for the new season and seems keen to stay, we have no reason to sell, and I doubt the club would let on of their only world class players leave with only a couple weeks before the new season.

Snowball's chance in hell mate.

2.) 03 Aug 2016 20:48:07
Sanchez is going nowhere. For this season at least.

3.) 03 Aug 2016 21:23:18
Malaga said he's leaving.

Thank God, that mean's he's definitely staying :-)

13 Aug 2015 05:00:04
Ok I have no idea on the latest with benzema and arsenal. Could be the same in regards to interest but no move yet.

I have been reading that Manchester United are now in for the player. And are willing to pay him 250 per week while we can only offer about 160.

Is there any truth to uniteds interest?

Lakerville

1.) 13 Aug 2015 09:31:26
It would seem a likely solution to the De Gea situation as Ramos isn't interested leaving.
I doubt utd are interested in Reals Euro's so Benzema could well be the ideal currency to resolve things.
It wouldn't exactly be a shock if it happened.

2.) 13 Aug 2015 12:08:15
As much as I would love to get Benz, I really don't think it will happen. Kinder reminds me of the whole Higuain scenario, we have been linked with both every summer for like 4-5 years now or so it feels.

16 Apr 2015 11:42:11
Can any ed shed some info in terms of the coaching carousel which we may encounter this summer?

with klopp now in the hat, which teams are looking to him as their new manager?

I know Liverpool will have interest, Arsenal have ruled out their interest.

do madrid and barcelona figure in this? or are they more likely to stay with their figure heads?

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - If the European page was not having issues right now I would say take it there. So a really special treat:

Klopp: Liverpool don't have an interest in Klopp and he has a number of options available - take a year off being top of the list. He will be approached by Napoli, don't rule out PSG or Real Madrid.

Blanc: It is fair to say that an alternative to Blanc was being considered by PSG but he is no longer available. It is also fair to say that there was a third party looking to see if a deal could have been brokered with Liverpool for him. That however is a while back and long before Liverpool began to improve. Right now I would not want to speculate too much.

Ancelotti: There is a third party who wants to steer Ancelotti toward Manchester this summer - either side.

Manuel Pellegrini to Napoli (may be an issue now that Klopp is available.

Benitez: Benitez wants either the Liverpool job or Manchester City - there is a chance of a one year deal at Manchester City whilst they await the man they want.

I am not going to give details about what is happening elsewhere in Europe here, that will wait until the page is fixed. Again, a blast for managers this summer.}

been reading on and off for many many years, post occasionally and I thoroughly enjoy the fan perspective and all the eds who give their insight and some of the eds who give us information tabloids would drool over.

much ado thanks to you all for making this site interesting across all pages.

lets hope the end of the season is somewhat fruitful for us gooners. regardless i'm looking forward to the world cup. can't believe its every 4 years. 1990 was my first world cup age 5.7 bloody world cups. looking forward to no8 and I maybe in Russia, got hospitality tickets, but not sure how serious the risk to travel there is, as a man with a tan I was advised by a friend who is from st Petersburg that its not ideal. anyone travelling from here?

Lakerville

{Ed001's Note - you would be well advised to speak to the consulate before you consider going.}

1.) 04 Apr 2018 11:07:07
Mate watch it at home or down the pub but don't go to Russia it's just not worth it.
It's a very different country with very different attitudes and ways before you even add the football element to the equation, Euro 2016 told me that no England fan should take a chance at Russia 2018.
Russian leaders aren't bothered what the rest of the world thinks of them or thier country public and world opinion will count for nothing and hold no sway at this world cup which makes it even less appealing still.
Russia will simply deny any problems before during and after the world cup.

2.) 04 Apr 2018 13:09:13
You have swallowed the bait hook line and sinker with the anti Russia propaganda haven’t you G62. If your part of traveling England fans who want to have a scap then I’d say go because you will certainly get one. If you want to go and enjoy the football and your a adult with a normal amount of wits about you then I’m sure you will be fine. Ultras are looking for ultras not family’s and moderate enjoying football . I can’t give advice specifically for you though lakerville as I don’t know what the Russians feel about tans mate. Ed’s advice is the one to take for that.

3.) 04 Apr 2018 13:58:01
to be fair I did travel along time ago well 11 years ago on the trans Siberian and it was amazing, I understand the situation has changed, although I did have a lot of people just stop and look at me like I was an alien, further east I went, girls were friendly though ;)

yea I understand the situation has changed and I really want to see a world cup live, never been to one. not even the euros, now that I can somewhat afford it was thinking of doing it.

to those I have spoken to have told me not to travel, I am considering not going but i'm not sure i'd survive Doha 2022 in the heat :)

Yea I wanted to know if anyone is going. right now its jack jones and that scenario will be a definite NO.

4.) 04 Apr 2018 14:19:00
If you have the opertunity to go and you can find some like minded easy going people then I say do it. Everyone has danger radar and as long as your responsible with the booze I’m sure you will have a great time.

5.) 04 Apr 2018 14:37:57
lets see what comes of it mate. for now some cracking games on tonight and one more tomorrow.

6.) 04 Apr 2018 15:00:30
I know mate. It’s not often I watch other teams from the prem but I’m really excited tonight and will be cheering Liverpool on, as will most of the country.

7.) 04 Apr 2018 17:21:34
Sanogo we can all only offer our true opinion mate, if one of my family asked the same question as Larker that's what my answer would be.
Propaganda I'm sure there is plenty of that flying around but there is also real risks too mate and its a brave man that decides to ignore those risks and an even braver one who advises others to ignore them.
Each person has to weight up what they personally have to gain and potentially lose from their decision.

8.) 04 Apr 2018 17:49:26
A friend of mine, who is a football watching family man went to France 2016 and inadvertently got caught up and trapped in street battle with Russian hooligans. He says if it wasn't for a stroke of luck, where he escaped and hid over a garden wall, he thinks he would have been seriously injured in the fighting. The Russian hooligans in their own country fuelled by the political situation as an excuse, could cause mayhem. While 95% of the time i think it will be safe, their will always be the 5% that isn't.

9.) 04 Apr 2018 19:32:41
And the streets of London have been a really safe place haven’t they. We can’t account for henny penny’s.

21 Sep 2017 13:14:11
i have been watching La liga recently and with madrid having a terrible run of games and probably out of the title race, a slip in the champions league and zidane is likely to be ousted.

i do hope we have him as a successor, i'm not sure wenger will stay beyond this year, and i feel he should move to madrid or psg, we need a fresh start and he could do with not having to penny pinch every buy or sale.

Lakerville

1.) 22 Sep 2017 02:57:02
Zidane? No thanks. No disrespect he's a footballing genius and legend of course but that wouldn't be a step in the right direction for me.

25 Jul 2017 13:52:30
considering the price they sold mendy for i just don't think we have a chance with lemar under 70 mill.

i hope we can close out a transfer or two soon. defender and CM needed asap.

Lakerville

1.) 25 Jul 2017 14:08:46
That and the fact that everybody else is managing to do business with Monaco.

28 Jun 2017 09:25:32
i know its a pipe dream but with perez stating last night that mbappe is only 18 and cannot guarantee him a starting spot, does that mean we are in with a shout to sign the player?

also he rubbished claims of 120mill for the player so maybe the figure is not as high as some make it seem?

thoughts?

Lakerville

1.) 28 Jun 2017 09:39:03
not sure perez has much say in the matter hopefully he will be sold anyway back to deportivo.

2.) 28 Jun 2017 10:51:28
I think he means the Real president Derby not the Arsenal player :-)
Personally I think Mbappe will stay put for now but if he moves it will be the best move he can possibly get regarding pay and footballing ambition.
People talk about a stepping stone move but football has a very long history of young players not realising their full potential and a wrong move now to a stepping stone club could see his chance of ever joining the likes of Real disappear for ever.
James Rodriguez joined Real and it hasn't gone brilliantly for him but he is still in demand simply because big clubs aren't put off by a player who couldn't quite crack it at Real which is almost certainly the hardest of all clubs to make your mark at.
If James Rodriguez had joined Liverpool instead of Real and struggled to win a regular place his options would be as attractive as they are today.
Real don't come knocking to often and that's why few refuse them when they do come calling.

3.) 28 Jun 2017 12:14:39
Every time there is a world class player, real come knocking.

4.) 28 Jun 2017 12:29:41
They do indeed Perfect but seldom for the same player twice which is why few refuse them when their chances comes along.

5.) 30 Jun 2017 16:09:54
I know 62 :)

14 Jun 2017 11:44:18
with toliso and gnabry signing for bayern i think alexis sanchez won't be moving there. or that's what i assume. unless they do manage to sell douglas costa and renato sanchez i would assume.

Lakerville

1.) 14 Jun 2017 12:36:23
Even with Douglas Costa going (likely to Juve) , I think Sanchez will still be unlikely, as they have lots of attackers.

Robben
Coman
Thiago
Kimmich
Gnarby
Muller
Ribery.

2.) 14 Jun 2017 14:04:38
I believe Sanchez wishes to stay with us but that depends on the players we sign. He wants to win trophies and if another club is likely to give him that chance, he might join them. So why don't we make it right as a club this time by bringing in few quality signings and secondly play as though it were our last chance to win the league. Our new system makes us play better and it reminds me of the old arsenal side that used to create chances for fun. Coming season, we have to be more clinical with every chance we create if we want to win the league because it's going to be tougher as Pep and Mourinho are in their second year as manager of their club. Other teams are getting better and better.

3.) 14 Jun 2017 14:28:02
Willy - I hope you are right, but we have seen this too many times.

Our best players having bigger ambitions than the club.

RVP
Cesc
Henry
Cole
Clichy
Nasri (for the best)
the list goes on and on.

4.) 14 Jun 2017 18:23:27
Not all of that list had 'bigger ambitions than the club'. Cashley Cole's departure was 100% down to his desire to be paid more rather than anything else I'm sure, Henry loved Arsenal and was an invincible when we were a tophy winning team - he has said his decision to leave was largely because of David Dein leaving (Wenger also offered to leave the club at the same time but Dein insisted he stay for the good of AFC) . Also, can't blame someone for moving to the two big Spanish clubs especially once they've already had a great career and probed themselves in a league for so long. Cesc was tempted by his boyhood club etc etc.

Basically, my point is that I don't think the clubs ambition has been an issue until the recent (cough Kroenke) years.

I get it gunner, i'm not blind, but I can't be asked to over react. I am going to give it one more year, there has been a push to make some statements, we have ozil, and aubameyang, I don't rate mikhitaryan, our defense and gk is woeful and that balance is just not there.

I do not see the need to keep wilshere, its guys like him we pine for on sentiments that keeps the club where it is.

Ramsey is another who has one good game every 10 and is injured most year, and i'm sure he will thrive in another setup be it man utd or Chelsea or wherever.

GK has to be a priority, a CB has to be another, another season of lacazette and aubameyang fighting it out should be good for the squad, welbeck stays purely for numbers.

Ive no idea what the club are going to do, if dembele is an option we should go for him.

Santi and per and cech and ospina have to head out the door.

we have done well to let go of giroud and sanchez and get something back in return.

if there is to be serious change I would give it another 2 years before we see ourselves competing again, right now we just don't have the depth or balance to pull of a consistent league standing.

the objective of football is to win.

win a trophy at the end of a season is to me a successful season.

no one has the divine right to win anything, and I think fans are feeling too entitled these days. I love how everyone thinks its bants to say something funny but not take it when something is funny against you.

Arsenal fans having a meltdown on twitter and outside the emirates, like wenger has decided to ruin the club.

get allegri they shout or whoever else, yes I can understand the frustration, but trust me it does not turn around in a season, sometimes it takes a few years.

I was talking to a fan recently who said I want to enjoy the success Barcelona and marid have had, well we don't have either one of the key players those teams have, and you take away that key player from Madrid and Barcelona and xavi and iniesta or modric and kroos can pass all they want they will not get the result.

the landscape will change eventually until then while this season is not the way any of us hoped, i'm still optimistic, and I want to see it out, however bad it is, and any trophy for me seen with my own two eyes a real victory.

doesnt matter if we get auba and mikhi then maybe top 4 push doable, without sanchez we can rebuild in the summer and will need to buy.

dont see point losing out on a fee for a player who does not want to be here.

all players are 30, so i don't see us getting a better deal than them.

while they complete their team we are dithering looking for space cakes.
