Can i ask if Arsenal are scouting/ have interest in Evan Ferguson.

seems like a few others have interest in him, including chelsea.

is he a likely target in 2024?

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - Not for Arsenal.}

1.) 06 Sep 2023 14:17:32
Are we interested in Ivan Toney Edoo2.

{Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

2.) 07 Sep 2023 19:37:43
Bryan Mbeumo Was definitely looked at.

Does Arsenal still have interest in youri tielemans now that it's likely caciedo is staying.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Can I ask ed what is happening in regards to Lucas torreira. Did a search could not find anything. Thanks.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - Lucas Torreira (DM) Fiorentina would keep him at the right price - but not the price Arsenal wants. Lazio may be an option again but they have a preferred target. With Matic signed Roma interest will probably have gone.}

Thanks ed.

talking to people at an arsenal game, the news doing the rounds/ rumours is that the management want to get joachim loew.

now i dismissed this obviously but now been reading on ed002 favourite platform twitter ;) that this is being bandied about more.

maybe its just rumours but this game was just after new years took awhile to catch up.

i do apologise if this is not juicy as i don't know any builder who has an aunt who drives a cab with a dog and the dogs puppy told me the rumour.

1.) 01 Feb 2018 11:48:13
Exactly rumours i had been seeing and hearing. Interesting appointment if true.

2.) 01 Feb 2018 12:46:47
it seems like there is something going on behind the scenes, obviously it maybe just everyone reading too much into it, but ian wright said the players are not responding to wenger, and it feels like there is an internal power struggle, not sure if he knows something or is assuming like the rest of us.

i do hope wenger can win the carabao cup and call it quits or even the europa. anyway i think this season is a wash, give youth a chance and build team chemistry.

Good thing is the players from arsenal who will be at the world cup playing major minutes won't be many. Iwobi, ozil, kos will start, but monreal, mustafi and bellerin will likely be subs.

3.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:40
That rumour seems to have been floating around for a while LV. Perhaps people are looking at international managers who may call it a day after the WC this summer and putting 2 and 2 together? To be fair I could easily see France looking for a new manager if they don't win it with their current squad, and I am sure plenty would put Arsene forward as the next french manager if he wanted it? Combine that with perhaps Jochaim Lowe also perhaps calling it a day and looking to go back into club management, and i suppose you can see why these rumours exist.

04 Jun 2017 08:33:29
eds i don't want to talk about players arsenal are linked with, but who is interested in the players we currently have?

ox, lucas perez, giroud, sanogo, gibbs, wilshire, debuchy.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - (a) Possibly Liverpool but it makes no sense (b) Sevilla, Villarreal and possibly Real Sociedad (c) Marseille but it won't happen (d) Lower French or Italian sides I would think (e) ? (f) Bournemouth (g) ?}

1.) 05 Jun 2017 04:48:14
Wilshere's being touted to WHam I think. Might be best for all parties really.

2.) 05 Jun 2017 11:01:16
I hear Newcastle are interested in Gibbs, any truth in this Eds? The fee i heard was £15 million, this seems unrealistic however due to his injury record and only having a year left on his contract.

{Ed025's Note - it certainly looks a possibility at this stage jim..

3.) 05 Jun 2017 10:11:53
appreciate the response ed, would have assumed they would have to go on a free, as most clubs who would want these players probably would not want to pay the insane salaries we have put them on.

{Ed002's Note - You are right that clubs in Europe would not match the salaries.}

4.) 06 Jun 2017 14:32:38
Because you have a team of mercenaries who wouldn't play for Arsenal if you didn't bribe them. That is exactly the problem with the squad!

You will soon find out the horrible truth of Europa League football. Top players like Mbappe won't sign unless you pay £100M and budget breaking wages on top. If Arsenal follow this path then they will soon become the next Leeds or Nottingham Forest.

curious to know what the Eds and others make of the Kai Havertz move.

i can see how he is always in space, but just seems scared, passing sideways or back, never making a run to be a threat.

has he always been this way?

does anyone see any positive signs or will this end up as a failed experiment.

the way Arteta is backing him, it seems to be a confidence thing. if he can get his belief back he might be the player everyone thought he would be.

Lakerville

{Ed014's Note - with Xhaka leaving we had options of buying a replacement or using a current player, either Vieira or ESR to fill that left mid berth.

Havertz came out of the blue, Chelsea made it known they were looking to offload and build and we jumped in with both feet.

Fee and wages under his form can only honestly be described as being mugged off.

Havertz had got the move to Chelsea with a big fee from playing so well in Germany and as we know with a few players coming over from there, isn’t doesn’t always work out in a much tougher Premier League.

Havertz was as poor as you like last season but so was his whole team.

He truly is devoid of confidence which started in pre season and has continued to date.

No is an opportunity for Arteta to play Vieira in the role and take Kai out of the firing line, in my opinion.

However Arteta hasn’t got to much wrong on bringing in players and improving them, Pepe obvs no enthusiasm to be improved.

I really hope he works some magic with him and have a feeling he’ll stick with him a while longer in the starting 11 but we’ll see.

He has ability for sure, just needs that kick start to his confidence and to get the crowd behind him like they did Saliba when he made a mistake in his first games.

1.) 06 Sep 2023 19:26:43
In the meantime, I wish he would play like someone who is 6ft 4. Yes I know he is not in the same mould as a Lukaku from a build perspective, but he just doesn’t lplay like someone who is that big. Eveytime I mention his height to fellow Arsenal fans absolutely no one believes me ( in fact I still don’t believe it, and checking the web his height does seem to range between 6ft 2 and 6 ft 4, but either way, it’s well above average in the premiership) . I think the reason no one believes his height is that he plays like a small and timid player. Fans understand when players go through a bad patch, and they 100% forgive that player if they either up their workrate, or put themselves about. The issue I have with him, is that he is doing neither, which puts him in the Ozil mould.

2.) 06 Sep 2023 23:38:53
Nice replies Ed014 and Epping. I think you're bang on, Arteta is brilliant at improving players and we need to hope he can do the same with Kai. One area he needs to improve on is his spatial awareness. He doesn't have Xhaka's strength or passing range so he needs to pick up some tricks from Ødegaard or ESR on how to receive the ball back to goal without just passing it straight backwards. I think he has all the other tools. Honestly I'd just have him watch hours of Michael Ballack videos ?.

{Ed014's Note - or hours of our very own DB10 mate.

This is ed01’s write up about him on the player profile page from when he was at Chelsea.

“Havertz is an extremely creative young midfielder, one of those players that seems to glide across the ground rather than run. He did have a very difficult start to his time with Chelsea, but began to show signs of settling in nicely at the end of the season.

A mainly left-footed player, who favours coming in from the right onto that left foot, but he tends to look to pass, rather than shoot or cross. To me he needs to be more decisive, more confident and drive more into the box and look to take the shot, something I expect will come in time as he settles in properly.

Havertz also needs to work on his fight, he rarely wins a battle for the ball and clearly does not relish the physical side of the game. He wants the ball given to him in space or put into space for him to run into and use his pace.

Despite his skill and height, Havertz does not want the ball with his back to goal or in the air for him to head, that is simply not his game. In many ways he is reminiscent of Mesut Oezil in his play, particularly in the way he makes everything seem effortless, which can often result in a belief he is not trying.

Like Oezil, he likes to play an incisive pass slipped through a gap most players would not even be aware existed. That is the key, getting the ball to him in and around the box where he can make things happen”.

Well it might have been a quiet window but it's better to not spend and regret later. Wait for the summer.

With the departures we know off and a few in the summer probably saliba and guendouzi and others, does anyone know if there are other youngsters who will be given a chance in the first team?

I'm not sure how highly rated they are but surely we should be giving them a chance?

I'd assume we are still going to bring in a striker and a mf even though we will have no strikers come June.

Eds what's your take on arsenal management, not taking the recent showings, has there been a change for the better in your opinion or do we still lack. Would appreciate your take if you are not too busy, if not thanks for taking the time to read this.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - It is as I said the other day - they are not the right people.}

Im sure you guys are also reading about Aouar, but where are we funding this from? And how are able to keep soo many players?

I figured with ceballos we would not need Aouar, are we buying luxury? We also have ozil for another year.

Not to forget our DM position which seems to never get filled, torreira and guendouzi seemed to fill it awhile now that's gone.

What you guys think? I was certain ed said We can't afford aouar.

Where are the rumours from Larker mate? That's always my first thought and if it's the usual suspects then I look to see what mystic Meg and Russell Grant are saying in my horoscope for a slightly more realistic take on things.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 18:13:32
Arteta said the other day that we aren't done in the market but didn't allude to whether it was for incomings or outgoings. I thought with DC playing higher up that we would target a defensive midfielder/ box to box but we'll see. As for funding it, it's very much down to outgoings and there will be some for sure. I think we'll see around 4-5 players leave in total with 1 more player coming in after Runarsson. We have to be careful with the amount of non-homegrown players we have though too. I think we have 18 now which is 1 over the 17 maximum? I might be wrong.

3.) 17 Sep 2020 22:23:19
I have it on good authority that Aouar is joining!

4.) 18 Sep 2020 07:19:53
I heard from a bad anarchist he wasn't joining us DG.

Eds now that the EPL transfer window is over, and hopefully you all can resume some sanity, i wanted to inquire about your opinion on the state of arsenal behind the scene.

you did say something to the effect of having a DOF who is not a DOF? and perhaps the structure not being clear and a complete mess? i'm not quoting you.

Im sure we managed to pull a miracle to have a decent transfer window, however what insight could you provide with an opinion on the long term outlook of what we are actually headed for in your experience.

feel free to ignore my ques if it sounds stupid.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - The structure of the management is a joke at Arsenal hence the issues they had recruiting. The transfer window has been very good but it is a risk the club has decided to take.}

1.) 09 Aug 2019 00:51:19
I'm shocked they have if it's that bad Ed maybe they wanted to get the fans back behind the club.

I'd have pepe back. not sure he was the failure everyone made him out to be. but maybe there's a discipline element.

I assume he is a young player and won't cost us the earth? as i assume we must be in the red with our summer purchases.

hope we can get some decent depth added in the winter transfer window.

from reading past posts, Ed002 did say we need to make some sales, possible lokonga loan move.

Im happy to add some depth, even if its not going to pull up any tress, some guys who have the hunger to fight for their spots and buy into the team ethos. i'm enjoying that the most, its a complete team performance.

do you see it as a big risk ed? or something that we can recover from if things don't go our way this season with a champions league spot.

Lakerville

{Ed002's Note - It is a major risk going forward and the club will need to look to sell.}

You do realise we have mustafi right? It's like saying I'm not going to take a poo for a month. you think you can't but we all rubbish ourselves eventually.

As a rule if mustafi scores the game should be called. be it an own goal or if he scores for arsenal. That's it. winner declared and go home. cause there's no way it's fair that we have played an entire campaign of 4 major competitions with 10 men and still had refs give red cards and penalties when we come into every game with a man less.

Travesty.

to be fair I did travel along time ago well 11 years ago on the trans Siberian and it was amazing, I understand the situation has changed, although I did have a lot of people just stop and look at me like I was an alien, further east I went, girls were friendly though ;)

yea I understand the situation has changed and I really want to see a world cup live, never been to one. not even the euros, now that I can somewhat afford it was thinking of doing it.

to those I have spoken to have told me not to travel, I am considering not going but i'm not sure i'd survive Doha 2022 in the heat :)

Yea I wanted to know if anyone is going. right now its jack jones and that scenario will be a definite NO.
