The Guardian (supposedly the most reliable newspaper for transfer rumours) are reporting that Vardy won't decide till after the Euros now.

Wengers comments today seem to be a little interesting:
Kinda makes you think if he doesn't see him as our first choice striker (I know he was talking about England) if
He's not a starter for his international team then why would he be ours?
Or maybe vardy has turned out offer down n wengers a little bitter.

Hmmmmmm 🤔.

2.) 07 Jun 2016 20:55:04
Vardy would rather stay at Leicester than joining the mighty Arsenal says it all and welshgooner talks about this glorious sunset all the time lol. City have just signed aubameyang and Utd have zlatan and vardy turns you down means same old top 4 finish and nothing else.

3.) 07 Jun 2016 21:23:54
quaver :)

What about the night-walkers, you've only got Kane (which is the equivalent of giroud) who you gunna get? 😂.

4.) 07 Jun 2016 21:55:47
C'mon jegooner, giroud is not on Harry kanes level and never will be. 48 goals in 73 games for spurs and is one of the hottest strikers in Europe. Even Diego maradona thinks so giroud is above average striker who is lucky to be at a club like arsenal.

5.) 07 Jun 2016 22:03:09
Lol quaver I do rate Kane ; (but you didn't answer the question.
C'mon mate who will the mighty shadow lovers attract?

6.) 07 Jun 2016 22:14:06
Jegooner, we only have Kane what about Ali, and half the English team. Also have the Belgium centre half's the French captain, the classy erriksen etc.

7.) 07 Jun 2016 23:16:46
We're talking strikers here quaver :) the best you can hope for is berahino lol

Hate to say it but il be cheering half those players you mention come Saturday 😫.

I always love how people act like they think Wenger isn't trying to do what's best for the club. It's extraordinary. People here there and everywhere going on about how he should have signed this player and done this and that when they themselves have absolutely no knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes.

It's frustrating we haven't signed anyone - of course it is, but the simple fact of the matter is we are not as rich as Chelsea, City and United so it's always going to be difficult for us to sign world class players. In the past three years, we've been fortunate enough to sign three world class players so people seem to have developed the opinion that this is an extremely easy thing to do. But the simple fact of the matter is, these signings were all highly opportunistic: Ozil and Sanchez arrived because their clubs had signed players in their positions; and the Cech signing was a unique case. This wasn't the case with the (ridiculously large number of) players we've been linked recently. So can we all just relax and get behind the team we do have, please?

I do agree to a certain point with your post but not when it comes to Le Coq. We are a cruciate ligament tear away from not having in my opinion a vital position covered! Just from a good housekeeping point of view we need that position covered! Arteta is just not good enough for that role. A top striker would have been perfect but everyone seems to have struggled to buy one as they don't seem to be available unless for silly money ie £36m +. We failed to cover our centre backs last year and it cost us in the first part of the year. I think Le Coq`s understudy / improvement will come back to haunt us. We won't win the CL but if our current strikers fire we could come close to EPL. Still doesn't stop me feeling gutted we haven't signed a top striker though! Still time though :) COYG

2.) 01 Sep 2015 15:54:53
What..arsene had over 3months buy someone.is that not long enough.poor arsene it must b awful hard to make your mind up.hate to see Wenger in a night club trying to pull a bird.he be going home on his own every sat nit..only one signing..wtf.

3.) 01 Sep 2015 15:55:44
The money we have is enough to compete with the clubs you have mentioned. How much did Pedro cost???

You are making excuses

{Ed002's Note - What has Pedro got to do with it?}

4.) 01 Sep 2015 15:59:22
I never expected Benzema or Cavani but surely we couldve pushed the boat out for Lacazette or a Abuyemang. Even if it meant paying over the odds.

i really feel sorry for Giroud, all players go through bad patches. But Giroud is not allowed to have one just because he is the only true CF we have at thew club. He is always under huge amount of pressure and he has no support or anyone to back him up.

Walcott is not a CF, as soon as a team defends deep he is completely out of the game and he doesn't have the guile or craft to create chances for himself. Welbeck is slightly better option but with his injury and no pre season who knows when he will be 100%.

I kinder understand Wenger philosophy, not signing players for the sake of it. Look at Liverpool for an example but the team needed strengthening and the fact he left it so late in the transfer window was extremely amateurish. If he doesn't get his Plan A he doesn't have a plan B or C and then hopes something will turn up. For an experienced manager this inst good enough. He has to be more ruthless instead of begging around and picking up everyone crumbs.

We try to sign Higuain, didn't get him signed no one. Try to get Suarez didn't get him signed no one. Try to get Benzema didn't sign him got no one. Wenger knows we need a CF for years but we are still waiting..

{Ed002's Note - You are clutching at straws with random names of players.}

5.) 01 Sep 2015 16:00:26
Macc I'm sure that regardless what happens we will all be behind the team we always are.

People that are unhappy are not anti arsenal. We're just deeply disappointed

6.) 01 Sep 2015 16:23:01
look how much the fans pay into the club. its a smack in the face. also if i was puma id be angry

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the fans - if you want that sort of bulk buying, Manchester City is the club for you. It is also nothing to do with Puma that Arsenal aren't just buying for the hell of it.}

7.) 01 Sep 2015 16:23:04
Sligo are you okay?

8.) 01 Sep 2015 16:24:41
regardless what any eds says we should have signed sombody inregards to other teams we always strenghten, we have taken one step forward signing cech and now two steps back its shocking

9.) 01 Sep 2015 16:46:23
sorry iam a bit drunk as iam on holidays i meant to say other teams always strenghthen :)and the way its gonning i want more drink lol

10.) 01 Sep 2015 17:07:10
Just frustrating...reckon squad is so close.for the 1st time in a long time to challenge.sick of standing still

11.) 01 Sep 2015 17:17:54
Your off your head eds. Clearly. You act like players have moved this summer. Stop defending the undefendable.

12.) 01 Sep 2015 17:18:49
Man city have brought well and will lift more titles over the next ten years that US. Tell me I'm wrong eds

13.) 01 Sep 2015 17:36:00
People on here are absurd to say that all those who want Wenger out are not true Arsenal fans,Absolute ludicrous,I want Wenger to go,its not just this window where he and the club have failed.
We have waited about 8/9 years now for just 2 players,who could maybe bring us the league title.we clearly have the money,although not always been the case,to which Wenger deserves so much praise,cause mourinhio,furgurson or the like could not do.
Like many others i thought Wenger deserved a chance,he bought Ozil,Sanchez,Carzorla.This season we got Czech,pretty early,i think he would have got Carvolha? if he hadnt got injured, but there was Schnerdelin,wanayama,and the like,ok Coquelin is a fine prospect and has done amazing but he will not last and when it comes to playing the big teams the i'm afraid he's found wanting,he will end up like wilshire and all the other injured players we have,as he's going to play way too much.A Strike was needed as Giroud is simply noy good enough,dont get me wrong he's done well,but also fails against the big teams.I think a deal for Benzema could have been done if it wasnt for the board to not penny pinch,i guess they offered Real Madrid £25 million and a pound a week,When if they give them £45 million,straight out they would have bit our hands off.
We supporters pay the dearest seats in the world,and we deserve to be treated way better than this. Gary Neville was correct in calling Wenger arrogant.he most surely is.But i feel sorry for him this year as i feel IF we don't buy,the fans will be on he's case,and rightly so.He`s had he's chance and not delivered,he runs the club from top to bottom,so he takes the blame for me,not the board(sorry about spelling and such)

Just a question about the window. Deadline day is on Tuesday here, but I've read that in France, Germany, Spain, and Italy it's on Monday. Does this mean we'd have to have signed players from these countries by Monday or is it just that teams in these countries can't sign any more players after Monday?

Macc Gooner

{Ed002's Note - No, but they won't be looking to sell then.}

Firstly, I'd just like to say that everyone played brilliantly tonight. To me, and to most people, we quite clearly have a much better team than United, but that doesn't mean that going to Old Trafford is in any way easy: the whole team was completely committed and fighting for each other, not to mention outclassing United technically.

Secondly, referees get a LOT of stick. So it's only fair we give them some praise when they do well. I mean seriously fair play to Michael Oliver, there were three separate occasions when he could have given in to the crowd but stood his ground. The first being when Bellerin could have been given a second yellow, but he instead (quite rightly) went and booked Rojo for that horrible previous challenge, then came the Di Maria and Januzaj incidents when many referees would have backed down to the crowd, but again he held firm!

And finally, on a slightly unrelated-to-Arsenal note, as Dags mentioned earlier how good is de Gea? Two of his saves tonight (especially the Sanchez one) were of unbelievable quality. I'm not sure I've ever seen a shot-stopper as good as he is, and in general terms for me he's pushing Neuer for the number one spot now. All I know is (and it's very nice to say this), he's clearly much too good for United!

Whenever one of our players go down injured all you can hear is the song, same old arsenal, always cheating. Now I'm not saying we are perfect but 2 separate utd players dived yesterday. When are they going to get the stick they deserve.

Having watched France play with both Benzema and Giroud up front, I know which one I'd prefer. Perhaps he's not clinical but he has that x-factor we're missing at times (yesterday for example) - he can create a goal from very little. But as has been said, this is all a moot point - remind me to unfollow a certain Italian journalist on Twitter.

Lacazette is not '3rd rate' or 'pants'. He's fast, he's a good finisher, and he's only 25. Last season, he also learnt to link the play properly as a lone striker. He's basically exactly what we hoped Walcott would become. In the worst case scenario, that is, he isn't quite good enough to replace Giroud as our main striker, he's still a fantastic option because he's basically the polar opposite to Giroud.

For those of you who are worried that Deschamps didn't pick him for the French side, and played Giroud up front, I wouldn't worry. I'm half French and I can assure you that Deschamps got slated for that decision. Lacazette had a bad first half of last season because Lyon did. They were awful, and you can't blame him for that. He had a fantastic second half to the season, but it seemed that Deschamps had already made his mind up about who was going to the Euros.

Looking at Icardi, on the surface his stats seem pretty identical to Giroud's. However, their main difference is their conversion rate (Icardi's is considerably better) . To give some perspective, based on his conversion rate, with the number of chances Giroud had last season Icardi would have scored roughly 28 goals. He might not be the best option, but he's certainly not a bad one!

Basically there'll be 6 teams in third place in their groups and these teams will be ranked against each other based on their points totals, goal differences etc from their own group matches. The top 4 teams in this ranking will go through to the next round.

Completely agree with that team - it does feel a little harsh leaving Cazorla out though
