Italian journalists lacazette is now unlikely, we've turned to javier Hernandez. Not to happy with that if true. Not exactly leading striker.

Mark_afc_abbott

1.) 06 Aug 2016 23:40:38
It always was unlikely it's been going on for weeks.

2.) 06 Aug 2016 23:51:41
If there was any truth to that, I'd be pretty content.

Great finisher, makes intelligent movements, poacher type of striker, had a great season for Leverkussen, I think he'd bang them in for us.

3.) 07 Aug 2016 00:11:59
100 % not the answer.

4.) 07 Aug 2016 09:39:51
Proven EPL striker. Happy if we get him and have been mentioning him before so not just stating this because we get linked.

5.) 07 Aug 2016 09:51:38
More media misinformation and hit chasing if you ask me.

6.) 07 Aug 2016 11:08:14
Ide sign bonny 13 million well worth a punt great return of goals just never got a look in at city but was a handfull at Swansea.

7.) 07 Aug 2016 11:26:12
And before i get shot down ide love to bid 40+ mill for a player but i'm not the manager and although he's done it in The past i just carnt see it happening this time aftet forking out 33 for granit.

8.) 07 Aug 2016 12:39:08
Smoggy i hear what you are saying, he is still young hasn't been round the block and always looks a handful when he plays. The only thing i have against him is is he clincal, when the pressure is on. We should be signing better but he does still have some life left in him.

9.) 07 Aug 2016 13:15:21
Bony and Williams

Do it now you fool, the pair would do a bloody good squad job for a couple of seasons

But you won't Wenger . why? Because you haven't sold anyone.

10.) 07 Aug 2016 17:10:45
Bony and Williams will not win us squat, average players for average teams think big or do nothing. No point making moves that will only do what we do fight for top 4.

11.) 07 Aug 2016 18:54:18
Ashley williams is a great center half did u watch the euros playing in a less tgan decent defence and was imence every game he's a proper old fasioned cb better than mert and better than gabrial.

12.) 07 Aug 2016 19:15:36
And bony i just think in our team with the like of ozil and sanchez ect pribably would get 20+ goals.

13.) 07 Aug 2016 20:54:15
Let's not get anyone then Laker

I'm afraid there ain't anyone else

Don't sit and wait for something that isn't coming.

27 Jul 2016 22:59:00
If this is wengers last season, who do you think is inline to take over?

Mark_afc_abbott

1.) 28 Jul 2016 06:05:27
Roy hodgson hahaha maybe Laurent blanc.

2.) 28 Jul 2016 07:50:01
Hopefully Eddie Howe or DB10 😜.

3.) 28 Jul 2016 10:07:45
The problem is that all the top managers are in jobs at big clubs. We will have to take a punt on a young up and coming manager, such as Eddie Howe from Bournemouth. Wenger will be a very hard act to follow and I can't see him staying on next season, as we are due for more of the same and the fans will turn on him. He had the opportunity to go out and make 3 or 4 major signing and all we have to date is one, Xhaka. He can still redeem himself by buying a top CB and striker, but I doubt that he will buy the type of signings that will excite the fans. I know we can't pay £100m for a player, but £40m on Lacazette or similar and £30m on a top CB, would keep the fans happy. Wenger doesn't appear to get the fact that us fans love seeing new stars arrive, it isn't enough to unearth gems and bring youngsters through. For those of us old enough to remember when we signed Bergkamp and Platt one summer, it was so exciting going into the season.

4.) 28 Jul 2016 10:52:06
I doubt this is Arsene's last year.
He makes the club a lot of money and a paid a lot of money.
It's good times for both sides.

If he does, however, I'd like Joaquím Low, Thomas Tuchel or Simeone.

I wouldn't be upset with Eddie Howe to be honest, after seeing all the links to us in the paper.

However, I'd imagine it'll be someone like Steve Bould moving up, Dragan Stojkovic or Rudi Garcia.

5.) 28 Jul 2016 11:31:27
I agree D

I think he will sign a new deal.

6.) 28 Jul 2016 13:32:23
Simeonne if we have ambition. So it will be some one else, who fits the "arsenal" way. Which is kronkes way.

7.) 28 Jul 2016 14:37:15
Eds is there any truth that valencia would accept a significant lower deal for arsenal to get mustafi? And if its true or not do u expect arsenal to sign him in your own personal opinion?

{Ed001's Note - why would they accept less from Arsenal??}

8.) 28 Jul 2016 14:41:15
someone who doesn't demand £8m in wages per season for mediocrity.

9.) 28 Jul 2016 14:49:01
Has to be Tuchel. Plays the style of football we want and isn't afraid to put faith in youngsters (weigl, pulisic, passlack etc) .

10.) 28 Jul 2016 14:50:15
I saw reports like that that's why. Do u see him coming to arsenal?

{Ed001's Note - reports are obviously crap. Valencia are now a shop window for Mendes, they are there to sell high. Impossible to say, it would need the lad to push for the move.}

11.) 28 Jul 2016 16:36:07
Apex take it your referring to his €50mil release clause and the papers reporting that it wouldn't take that much to actually sign him?

12.) 28 Jul 2016 16:40:40
My guess would be that Arsene would have a deeply personal connection to whoever he wants to replace him. Tuchel is unlikely given the project at Dortmund, but the Arsenal job would be an attractive option given the vast resources and top talent at the club already. Slightly tempered I suppose by the catastrophic ****up that was Moyes in replacing a club legend at MU, which would make people wary.

I would personally love Ancelotti, but he's unlikely to leave after only a season at Bayern if successful.

13.) 28 Jul 2016 17:32:12
Wire anchelotti is in his retirement job at bayern, he will get an easy last 3 or 4 years there and then, I think fade out to retire.

17 Jul 2016 12:46:03
I've seen some rumours that bayern are looking at koscielny, only a year left on his contract. I've also see one saying he rejected a new contract. I hope this is just media nonsense.

Mark_afc_abbott

1.) 17 Jul 2016 16:08:44
He knows the crack, he's after more money. He knows we are up the Creek without a paddle without him, he wants paying for that. Ashley cole springs to mind.

2.) 17 Jul 2016 16:45:38
He deserves it too, we've been underpaying him for years.
Theo 140,000 Kos 70,000! I wouldn't want to try and explain why thars OK to Lauren would you?
He's due a lot of back pay if you ask me.

3.) 17 Jul 2016 17:28:46
True - we will probably offer him a short deal because of his age : (

4.) 17 Jul 2016 17:55:09
Him earning less than Walcott is not at all right. He deserves a better deal this time.

5.) 17 Jul 2016 18:23:49
Kos should be one of our highest earners.

6.) 17 Jul 2016 19:12:42
Agree bambam, he's world class and been a loyal gunner.

{Ed041's Note - world class? Not for me. But a very good defender.

7.) 17 Jul 2016 19:17:18
This is more bad management from Wenger

Only 1 year to go and will be free from him

Hallelujah, praise the Lord.

8.) 18 Jul 2016 07:17:49
Kos is def world class for me. We have Wenger to thank for bringing him in, training/ teaching him and giving him the chance. He came with little love from the online chatters (unlike TV5) and now is immense for us.

Please give the lad a raise and the captaincy.

9.) 18 Jul 2016 08:26:04
Red rooster you are making too much sense there. Can you retract that last post and do a new one just blaming Wenger please.

10.) 18 Jul 2016 09:18:34
Steve, I enjoy reading your posts and that of most others, but you do seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder. Not sure if you were implying, by referring to Ashley Cole, that you disapprove of Koscielny if indeed he is holding out for a better deal, but if you are, I don't get it.
Who wouldn't?
I would. Players no longer care about the badge on their shirt. It's a job. Lovely job, handsomely rewarded for those at the top, but it's no different to being wooed by a competitor in your industry, whatever that may be.
As supporters we can't be bought or sold: thank goodness, but players are commodities and whatever else we think about the obscene amounts of money players get paid, i'm sure we'd all do the same given the opportunity and it is at best a twenty year career. It's called making hay.
That said, WENGER OUT!

11.) 18 Jul 2016 09:32:43
I take it I've Sussed it out then lol.

12.) 18 Jul 2016 09:34:57
If we want Koscielny to stay, give him a signing fee, plus decent wages He is 30 years of age and looks like he has at least 3 years in him. The cost of replacing him, will be far higher. Unless of course Bayern will pay a huge fee for him, enabling us to buy Manolas. I have been very disappointed with Gabriel, but would keep him at present. Mertesacker, is decent cover for the remaining year of his contract, whilst Chambers clearly needs a year on loan at a club where he will play regularly.

13.) 18 Jul 2016 10:02:41
Pretty sure it was a good deal when he signed it and plenty moaned about stupid tackles in the box
He signed it and was happy
Sure we don't wait till the last year to extend either
He has a contract that runs till he is 30/ 31
What's Wenger done wrong now!

14.) 18 Jul 2016 13:15:46
SY4 - If reports are correct, his deal is up at the end of next season, so the problem is that our best CB, who is only 30, can leave at the end of the season for nothing. He has been playing well for a while now, so it would have made sense to offer him a longer deal at least a season ago.

15.) 18 Jul 2016 13:17:12
Max no chip just want wenger gone mate so we can move up. No cole wanted to stay wanted a few quid more for a bit of recognition and we didn't give him it so he left and guess what his replacement wasn't as good. i'm an arsenal fan not arsene by the way.

16.) 18 Jul 2016 12:15:44
Ed, any truth in the icardi developments?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea sorry. I do not know what developments you are referring to.}

17.) 18 Jul 2016 14:25:57
The ones where arsenal and his representatives will meet.

{Ed001's Note - they will meet on a regular basis, agents regularly go to visit clubs even when they are not doing business together.}

18.) 18 Jul 2016 14:59:43
I know but do you really think the club seriously waits to negotiate deals until all power shifts to the player?

19.) 18 Jul 2016 15:40:16
Max didn't quite finish the last post. So the same thing, I think applies to because if he doesn't get the recognition he might go, even though he wants to stay. Cole would have stayed had he not been shat on and kos might think similar, give me a bit more and I will stay, don't and I qill go.

20.) 18 Jul 2016 21:13:05
I don't think his deal is up, I think he wants a bit more money to stop him flying off to bayern. He only signed a deal 18 months ago.

21.) 18 Jul 2016 21:18:42
Sorry kos signed a four year deal 2 years ago.

22.) 19 Jul 2016 11:58:59
Ashley Cole left because of a bruised ego, because we wouldn't pay 60k instead of 55 k a week. Stubborn player, stubborn club - Cole could have gone to any club in the world, went for the cash at Chelsea. That's life.

02 Jul 2016 17:43:37
Eds is there any interest in higuain from Arsenal this summer?

Mark_afc_abbott

{Ed002's Note - PSG may look to Higuain if Cavani is sold and Benzema or Lacazette are not available. Arsenal may yet turn to Higuain as an option but the price may put them off. Do not rule out a move from Bayern Munich if they lose Lewandowski - they have been looking and Ancelotti is an admirer. Conte has told Chelsea he is keen but I suspect Chelsea will be unwilling to pay the asking price. Atletico will try and tempt Napoli with an option of one of two players plus cash deal.}

1.) 02 Jul 2016 19:42:19
Thanks ed 👍 I'm just worried that Arsenal will miss out on a top class striker and end up with giroud as 1st choice again, which won't go down well with fans. Arsenal really do need one of the ones you mentioned 👆.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing the club does will go down well with the fans.}

2.) 03 Jul 2016 04:17:42
Now! Now! Ed02 .
Don't you start with the Higuain rumours.
You should know better .
You will end up getting everyone at it!
😂.

3.) 03 Jul 2016 11:26:14
Hit the nail on the head there ed002! Although that's not the case with all fans lol.

29 Jun 2016 11:03:02
Hi eds do you know if Arsenal are in talk with or interested in draxler this summer?

Mark_afc_abbott

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of Arsenal doing anything this summer, with regards to Draxler.}

1.) 29 Jun 2016 13:03:28
That's a shame draxler or Reus would have made good Arsenal signings.

2.) 29 Jun 2016 13:04:59
Hello ed, higuain agent has said that he will not sign a new contract at napoli, would this make arsenal and others more interested to sign him and if so, do u expect him to leave?

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to leave, but I would expect PSG to be his likely move.}

3.) 29 Jun 2016 13:48:43
Would u think arsenal would at least put in a bid for higuain and surprise everyone by getting him? And also ed is barbosa a striker or winger? In other words is he vardys replacement?

4.) 29 Jun 2016 15:06:09
As far as I'm aware, Apex, Barbosa can play anywhere across that front 3, but plays mainly on the right, cutting in onto his preferred left foot.

5.) 29 Jun 2016 16:23:17
Thanks D, i dunno why ed didn't reply.

{Ed001's Note - my mistake, I did reply but most have clicked to shut the ed's note before sending and not noticed.}

6.) 30 Jun 2016 14:15:24
Oh it's okay ed.

We don't need a striker and a winger. If we sign a striker Sanchez and iwobi on the wings, or sign a winger and Sanchez up front. Our team is good just missing in two areas, our strength in depth is one of the best in the league.

09 Aug 2016 18:51:38
£30m for bollasie. Have I missed something?

Mark_afc_abbott

1.) 09 Aug 2016 22:16:33
Yeah you missed the fact that fame and what club you play for doesn't mean anything if someone can spot natural talent in you.

2.) 09 Aug 2016 22:34:40
No, it's an over inflated marked where clubs are asking way to much for very average player. He is 28 he scored 4 and assistant 4 last season but he is £4m more than mkhitaryan. But clubs are silly enough to pay then more fool them. I guess Joel Campbell is worth £40m.

3.) 09 Aug 2016 23:42:01
Mark it is over inflated for a guy who is talented but inconsistent but the prices will get more and more.47 mil is way too much for stones but that's how silly it's getting. Realise that or get left behind.

07 Aug 2016 22:53:36
So with lacazette apparently injured not sure we will sign a striker, however given the preference of Walcott and akpom and wingers chamberlain, iwobi, Campbell. Add that to gnabry and asano to come back from the Olympics, I wouldn't be to upset if we didn't. At least one centre back is a must.

Mark_afc_abbott

06 Aug 2016 10:36:32
So wenger has been quoted saying. "We do not have to panic but make the right move when the opportunity comes up. " so come the end of the window we have not signed a striker, he can just say the right opportunity didn't come up.

I was just reading a report on the player on goal. com and he can play out wide and is very quick so I think he might stay with the 1st team and be given a chance as back up to Walcott and iwobi.

No, I think he's tactics are outdated and easily countered and still living in a premier league that existed 10 years ago. There are 7 team that could be capable of winning the league. We're getting caught by Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham and now it might be to late.

I guess, those players will probably be there highest shirt sales and how much money the can make of marketing the players name, where as holding and elnenny are not popular names on the back of shirts in China or America.

I don't understand the transfer market. John stones is 22 and wasn't always in Everton starting 11 but £50 million. Progba £90 million. Holding 2 million elneny 5 million. Now there all young and very talented, but not sure the price gap is justified.
