Sanchez and Ozil to Bayern with Muller, Vidal and Alaba coming the other way. Wishful thinking, eh?

Just a tad. We might sign a 12 million pound midfielder that no-one has ever heard of? Usually happens.

2.) 02 Apr 2017 10:04:20
Already way ahead of you, the one from Everton.

Possible bad news for us as Robert Fernandez has announced at a conference today that Dani Alves has decided to leave Barcelona. Bye, Bellerin?

NE Gooner

1.) 02 Jun 2016 21:17:17
I doubt he will go and if he does I hope we hold out for big bucks! He is a good prospect no doubt, but not a difficult position to replace.

2.) 02 Jun 2016 18:24:42
Let's hope not, for we are hoping to become a top club it would be a good start to hold onto top players.

3.) 03 Jun 2016 11:29:50
Unfortunately, this is a bit like Cesc.

It's not relaly a question of IF it will happen, but when.

Honest question: Do you think we can keep bellerin for him entire career?

Best thing we can do is extend his contract every 18 months, to keep his price as high as possible.

28 Jan 2016 23:16:50
it'll be interesting to see how city's game will change with de bruyne out for almost 3 months! it gives me a lot of confidence we will AT LEAST come 2nd. Kompany has been touch and go and we all know what aguero's like. this could really be our year.

{Ed025's Note - derby is holding a candlelight vigil for KDB if you are interested mate.. :)

1.) 29 Jan 2016 10:25:28
So you think Leicester will win the PL?

2.) 30 Jan 2016 15:29:05
"Stranger things have happened"

3.) 30 Jan 2016 19:04:53
If they deserve it mate then so be it! And as things go you have to say they deserve it! Fairy tales happen and it's a great thing for the English game for all fans to think maybe just maybe.

4.) 30 Jan 2016 21:04:44
NE you say stranger things have happened mate but when?
If Leicester were to win the premier league this season after narrowly escaping relegation last season I'd be hard pressed to think of a greater achievement in the history of the English game, if they did pull it off which I don't think they will they'd be pushing the invincibles all the way for the most outstanding achievement ever.

"Palermo's owner Maurizio Zamparini says striker Abel Hernandez, 23, wants to leave the Serie A club at the end of the season."

I recall one of the Eds saying Arsenal were interested in Hernandez. There we go then, here's our next superstar striker next season.

NE Gooner

1.) 06 May 2014 21:27:01
I really hope so! I think this guy would be the perfect striker Wenger can get the best out of, tall, fast and strong! TH14 mould of a player! I'm not saying he will be as good as Henry, but it's the type of striker that would be perfect on the counter and for Ozil to start using that great vision of his!

Mustafi released by Schalke. World cup winner but most importantly ageing and free! Edu will be rubbing his hands, expect an offer any day now.

Is it possible that we'll be looking for loans with the option or obligation to buy this season in order to stretch our budget a little more ed?

NE Gooner

{Ed002's Note - For who - or is this just tandom players picked up by pissing in the wind and spinning around.}

What a shame Arsene is going to be subjected to more and more public ridicule before it all ends badly for everyone.
Should he have walked away, yes of course he should but he can't because he lives eats and breathes football he just can't make the right decision for him and the club himself.
He reminds me of an ageing singer who was once a Superstar but has now lost his voice, he can't hit the right notes and is out of tune most of the time but because he continues to play to packed audiences he thinks all is ok, despite not having a number one hit for over a decade.
" if it is my fault I'm sorry "
I find that sad to hear from him and sad to see him yet again in a position where the entire footballing world is shaking their heads at him and his decisions yet again.
Above everything else he shouldn'thave been allowed to be in this position and it looks very likely now he is going to suffer the indignity of being sacked unless someone close to him ( a true friend) can make him see sense and walk away of his own will.

just a thought, what if raver's a closet spurs player? explains the trusty subaru. oh, sorry, rusty subaru.

NE Gooner

1.) 11 Aug 2017 16:47:37
Raver has been overheard, sobbing in the back of his Mum's rusty Subaru, complaining that his mates from Arsenal are on twice the pocket money he is on. His Mum has punished him by fining him the maximum permitted 2 weeks pocket money, costing raver £1.50. He is angling for a move to Arsenal, but winning trophies could be dangerous for his mental health As he knows the pain at Wembley just goes on. 1961 and waiting!

Only a could leave for Lichtsteiner, Ed? Surprised not to see Teirney (? ) on that list too, I remember a lot of talk about him not long ago. Looks like a big rebuild in the summer.

NE Gooner

{Ed002's Note - (a) Right, as I said Stephan Lichtsteiner could leave. (b) Arsenal are not one of the sides who have approached Celtic about Kieran Tierney and if that changes I will say. Right now I would not hold your breath.}

Teams don't spend €140m on a player before checking if they fit their style of play jc.

it's strange ed, I don't understand why year after year, big british players are linked with teams abroad but they always end up staying here. Is it generally the players refusing to move or are British teams seen as more difficult to negotiate with etc?

NE Gooner

{Ed001's Note - it is because they are not good enough and there is little genuine interest until the current crop of youth players.}

62, the first half of the season we were going backwards, 100%, but as we all know the players downed tools. But now the squad has bought into arteta's philosophy and it's beginning to pay off. How many losses, draws and goals conceded are down to individual since the start of this year? Cut those down and we're a different team.

We all knew arteta wasn't going to provide an instant fix, especially when half of our players would struggle to get into most teams in the top half of the table. Judge him come the winter transfer window next season.

Accidentally sent that halfway through but given another decent transfer window where he can get the players he wants, I reckon we'll do pretty well next season after the madness of C.V. eases off and a decent preseason.

Look at pep, he barely scraped top 4 in his first season but his man city is playing some of the best football we've ever seen in the premier league. Obviously we don't have the budget of city but with some good additions and a coach who studied under one of the greatest football coaches ever I can see us getting back into the CL in a season or two.

This season was always about arteta working out his game plan, figuring out what works and drilling that into the players and making them play the way he wants them to play.

He's sorted the defence, is working on the attack and by next season that should all be drilled into the players.

Thanks for the response ed001. But yes, Arteta's treatment and handling of some of the players has been atrocious, this is after he received so much praise in the press from city players who claimed how well he treated them and improved their game. Don't get me wrong, I like a manager who gets up and barks orders at the team but it just feels like he's trying to emulate Pep even down to the way he dresses. Sounds like he needs to let the players play their game and loosen up a bit.

NE Gooner

{Ed001's Note - it might be something he learns over time, but he will need to learn quickly.}

Ed001 do you think the issues at arsenal ie lack of chances are almost entirely down to Arteta or do you think it's because, as we keep hearing, we're missing that final piece of the puzzle? Whenever I look on twitter etc half the fans are blaming Arteta and the other half are blaming the lack of an AM? Obviously even with a new midfielder we're going to struggle but could you see one player changing our game that much?

NE Gooner

{Ed001's Note - you have an AM, but Arteta is not able to pick him, so that can't be used an excuse. A good coach would find a way round it. Personally I think the problems are Edu then Arteta in order of importance. They have both done nothing but caused friction and now Arteta is throwing players under the bus it can only be a matter of time before he goes.

It is Arteta that sets the style of play, he has his ideas and he is trying to implement them. For me the question was always whether he just needed more time or not to get things going. The only time you can really tell whether a manager has it or not is in adversity, when they hit a bad run. Like Pep, we are only now going to find out whether he really is a great coach. Arteta we are now seeing is someone who turns on his players when they make mistakes, he badgered Lacazette into losing form. When he should be encouraging and protecting them, he instead points fingers at them.}
