Love your work, couple of quick ones if you will. Firstly, I'm reading that we're in for Howedes, which I'm absolutely praying is true, is it? Also, Romulo is widely reported to be a done deal. I can't say I know anything of him, is he a likely Jan signing and is he actually any good? Thanks eds

Xhaka had 98 passes at 100% efficiency with 1 assist. He is going to be a gem this season i reckon. He can tackle and pick a pass, something our midfield has sorely needed. Took him a while to find his feet but it will be worth it.

The reason xhaka was average at the start of last season is he was playing in the wrong position. He is not a defensive midfielder (hence the yellow and red cards) he is a deep lying playmaker. A quality one at that. It is no coincidence that since we went 3 at the back he has played very well and he has improved his discipline. Its because this formation allows him to play to his strengths. Unfortunately as a defensive mid in a 4 3 2 1 it exposes his weaknesses.

Quality player, plays like a quarter back spreading play and rarely wasting a pass. Lovely touch and the weight of his passing is superb.

Good shout Derby. Cazorla would be lethal next to him with 3 at the back. From what I've seen, Lemar could be too.

Xhaka is not a good tackler at all and he isn't the answer. What do people see in him or want to see in him. He's doesn't dominate anything except sideways passes. I think he will struggle again when we meet teams of quality, he is a passenger in top games. Sorry don't see it.

What apart from the chip to welbeck a long range shot which was just saved by courtois another long range pass to lacazette I think oh and the assist for the goal. Still at least he dominated the side ways pass. Also Chelsea are champions exactly which decent teams are we going to play? Just because we didn't sign Kante who wanted to go elsewhere the down on Xhaka is ridiculous. He ain't Stepanovs! With some of the abuse he gets did I miss his transfer to the Spuds 🥔? And before anyone says it's just one game he was improving the last ten games of the season . COYG.

Can't help but agree Steve Xhaka is in the Charlie Nicholas situation where fans want him to be good enough so much they ignore his poor performance's and over hype his best ones.
My guess is we will still be debating his value much this time next season.

Yesterday was a friendly and wasn't the league. We have won three pre season friendly cups and that means zip all. Xhaka is a show pony with a donkey kick. He will prove this season he isn't good enough.

Ed I don't know a neutral fan who rates him at all and that is more telling than your own fans who are desperate for him to be the player he isn't.

So, we have all come to terms with Sanchez going to PSG, right? As much as I would love to see Draxler come the other way in the deal, i don't see that happening. Matuidi might happen though, especially as Goretzka looks unlikely, Matuidi would make our midfield look very strong. We would need to land Lemar and in my opinion, Mahrez too, hoping he finds his 2015 form. Throw in Van Dijk and we have a strong XI even with the liss of Sanchez.

I read a few tidbits a little while back saying that we might seriously go in for William Carvalho. Does anyone know if there is anything further along there? Carvalho next to Xhaka would be a beastly midfield!

ive seen him a few times and to me he seems to be getting lazy. i'd even take an injured diaby over him, he always came back and performed like a superstar.

hes huge can break up play keeps the ball moving fast.
not the quickest and has a agent we don't seem to deal with. wouldn't be top of my list but wouldn't moan if he signs.

Pretty sure he's represented by a super agent. Arsenal might have broken their transfer record but I don't see them going in for anyone at the exorbitant levels that breed of agent tends to involve. That most likely rules out a move for Carvalho.

Shambo mate, i think you may have missed the point in some of what stoner was saying. All the points you make are absolutely right but, any gooner who pays attention already knows those points. What exactly does it do, coming on here and repeatedly whinging about the same things, over and over again? I'm all for sharing opinion but, do we really need the read the same opinion 10 times a day?

Starting lineup had 5 players out. Ozil and Ramsey were short of match fitness. We were missing our best player and we were missing 5 CBs. That was a bloody fantastic win. We made mistakes for every goal, we will improve on that performance. But sure, have a whinge people.

Xhaka was not good for most if last season, no dispute. He was good to end the season and i stand by my original post. He will be excellent this seaaon and people will eat their words, or, at least, find something else to have a whinge about. Some people on here could be drinking ale, but still be having a whine. It's so boring.
