Chambers going on loan must surely mean we are signing another CB? It leaves us with only two senior CBs. Holding and Mavropanos especially are still very raw. Koscienly won't be back until after December. Essentially and injury to Sokratis or Mustafi leaves us with an injury crisis.

Ed, do you think this means we will sign a CB before the window shuts?

{Ed001's Note - I thought the point was that Chambers was surplus which is why he is being loaned out. Monreal and Kolasinac can play central defence. I am not sure there will be another this window.}

Do u mean u don’t their will be another centre back or another player ed?

{Ed001's Note - don't think there will be another centre back.}

Thanks Ed, any idea what names arsenal could still buy this window please?

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I have not been able to get info from your end with the changes at Arsenal.}

Arsenal paid out £19.3m in wages to players who were injured last season. Second highest in the league after Man U.

Make of it what you will but I'm glad Cazorla, Wilshere, Walcott, Diaby, Rosicky and all the other leaches picking up wages without playing are gone. Can add Mertesacker to that list too, Mr I can't handle the pressure and I don't want to play football.

I’m also glad mate! But calling injured players leaches! I wonder how that would sit in other industry’s when people get injured at work. Not for me but each to their own mate.

2.) 02 Aug 2018 21:01:35
Agreed - it’s a job and they are under contrac. At the end of contract their career could be over very young. They are still Gooners and human beings.

3.) 02 Aug 2018 21:54:58
Those players could argue if it had not been for Arsenals training methods they would have never been injured as much and had more successful careers.

Jave to argue with g62 mate, every player is very likely to get injured. Naymar was injured for about half of last year and still got his wages. They might be crocked and a little old but they had contracts with arsenal.
Although maybe we waited a little too long for players such diaby and Wilshere.

Fair comment Moe mate but our training methods certainly seemed to encourage more injury problems than other clubs got, the non tackling policy did a lot more harm than good in my opinion.

Not Arsenal related but need help and thought this was best place to ask.

Anyone know of a good website for streaming football matches that works on iPhones?

Currently in rural New Zealand and got no other device available other than an iPhone. Desperate to watch England game, any good suggestions?

Delete if not appropriate Ed, thanks.

Good Morning Ed,

Just seen reports that William Carvalho is one of a number of Sporting Lisbon players looking to terminate his contract following their troubles and being attacked by fans the season just gone. Rui Patricio has terminated his contract and moved to Napoli and Carvalho has just successfully terminated his too.

Any chance this will have alterted Arsenal? We have been strongly linked with him in the past but Sportings large price tag prevented him ever moving. Will he still be a target now we have new scouts and manager? If we can snap him up on a free it would be perfect. Allowing extra money to be spent on another CB or wide player.
Any chance we might make a move?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - are you sure you have that correct?}

1.) 02 Jun 2018 06:04:07
Apologies Ed, looks like I've been duped. Read one thing on a news report saying he'd cancelled his contract. And now read on SSN that there reports he'd done so but this is not the case. SSN article says its Everton and W Ham are interested.

{Ed001's Note - players cannot just unilaterally terminate a contract mate, just like you or I can't. They looked into it legally, to see if they had grounds to have it terminated, but they don't. There has been no breach of contract that would enable them to do so. Amazing how players always want someone else to blame for their poor performances!}

So our attacking options to fill 4 positions:

Augbumeyang, Lacazette, Welbeck, Nketiah, Ozil, Iwobi, Mhkitaryan and Nelson.

Those backup 4 are likely going to be Welbeck, Nketiah, Iwobi and Nelson. i'm sorry but that is simply not good enough. Not saying Lucas Perez was the answer but we should have got somebody in.

Compared to our rivals bench/ squad its not good enough.

City - Gabriel, Mahrez, Bernardo Silva
Spurs - Llorente, Lucas, Lamela
United - Rashford, Martial, Mata

We start to lose afew through injury (which we definitely will) and we're buggered.

Agreed. Loaning Chambers and selling Perez leaves our squad too light in my opinion. Our first choice attacking options are great, but after that its Welbeck, Iwobi. that's it. not good enough.

Same with CB, Mavropanos and Holding are our backups until Jan when Kos is back.

Cant help but feel like we've messed up here.

Surely a winger/ forward and maybe a CB coming in with those departures? Personally I would only let Jenkinson and Campbell go.

Ok fair enough leaches was a very harsh term to use. But glad we have Cazorla, Wilshere, Walcott and Mertesacker off the books. Players who were all on between £70k - £110k a week and did not play enough for us over padt 2 seasons.

I would have Leno and Cech to compete for first choice keeper. But I would start Leno v Man City. Hopefully we can get around £5-10m for him. Martinez i'd would sell loan. Macey and Illiev playing for U23's and bench for cup games etc.
