Hi eds - seems we are down a potential striker and don't have a credible list of potential targets - can you offer any help?

Any interest in Dzeko?

Red Rooster

{Ed025's Note - a striker will be one of the priorities for arsene this coming season rooster but i cant see it being dzeko mate, hes not really an upgrade on giroud for me and im looking for better to be honest..

1.) 20 Jun 2016 10:05:15
Thank you sir - can't wait to see some names and for the record, I like Giroud and would like to see another striker with different qualities so that we have a strong rotation. Vardy would have offered that.

2.) 21 Jun 2016 17:00:54
Hello ed, many newspapers report that arsenal are holding talks with everton over lukaku, is this true?

{Ed025's Note - im hearing that he is likely to stay at everton alex..

05 Jan 2015 19:52:40
Hi eds, lots of talk re Perrin is he done or is there a possibility for Nastisic?

Red Rooster

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

11 Aug 2014 16:33:24
Eds any interest in getting Song back? Not what many are looking for but great for depth in CDM and CB.

Red Rooster

{Ed025's Note - nothing that i have heard RR..

08 Jun 2014 21:49:30
Like some other seasoned and wisened participants on this board I am quite keen on Schneiderein to join the rotation with Arteta and Flaminin. However, as good as the pick up sounds on paper.age, skills, potential and cost . I don't recall any credible sources on this one, help me out here, has there been anything to give us hope that he is a serious target? Many thanks and ed 02 this means you!

Red Rooster

{Ed002's Note - Both Arsenal and Napoli will look to Southampton's Schneiderlin this summer.}

1.) My source is from within Southampton. Talks have definitely already been held for Schniederlin. I'm sorry that I can't name who my source is but I can definitely say that it is someone who should know.

2.) Pretty much common knowledge that after Bender he is our number 1 target!

3.) Pretty much common knowledge that after Bender he is our number 1 target!

I like the idea of Arsenal signing Loic Remy - would like it even more if ed 002 told me we were serious about it ;-))

Red Rooster

{Ed002's Note - He would not be first choice.}

1.) Do you know who first choice would be then Ed?

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Ciro Immobile from both Arsenal and Dortmund.}

2.) Any idea who the first choice would be ed?

3.) 15k a week at the moment region of £9-10 mil. Only problem is Dortmund will be tenacious in the market due to the departure of lewandoski. Ciro sounds like a decent player though, newest flavour in seria A

It only have pains me to say, because I was in favor of signing him. But Vardy is going to have a rough year, career and regret snubbing Arsenal forever. Pas mal buddy!

Red Rooster

1.) 06 Oct 2016 12:39:29
Like they say better to regret the things you have done rather than the things you haven't.

2.) 06 Oct 2016 15:05:11
It would be amusing after he was speaking from such a high horse about how snubbing us was such an easy decision. Found that very strange as he took a month to announce an actual decision.

3.) 06 Oct 2016 15:13:27
Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

So not suited to Arsenal.

4.) 06 Oct 2016 19:40:06
This time last season people were calling Harry Kane a one season wonder.
I'm no idea if Vardy will get back last season's form but like many Leicester players he's having a problem getting going again after such a high.

5.) 07 Oct 2016 09:41:15
I hate Vardy but he has a PL winners medal and on 80,000 a week - if that's a rough career than I want to be doing whatever it is you do for a living!

09 Sep 2016 02:16:10
What if kos/ mustafi become the best CB partnership in the EPL plus Shaka continued to impress next to santi with bite and distribution - doesn't that change the calculation and put us right on the mix for the title? We could be tough team to play against, along with our flair! COYG.

Red Rooster

1.) 09 Sep 2016 12:57:52
Yes ofcourse that would change a lot of things, but it's such a 'what if' statement.

2.) 09 Sep 2016 13:50:30
Not really, I think we bought him to be part of the best combo and with Xhaka we are looking pretty strong, it was a rhetorical question for haters. its funny this site is ass backwards, the positive ones are the trolls. see you all at the parade if you don't hurt yourselfs jumping back on the bandwagon.

3.) 09 Sep 2016 14:34:20
@rooster lol. It is a bit negative here sometimes. At the moment, I'm pretty keen to see the new boys. A good defensive performance this weekend and Perez sticking a goal in with Sanchez and Ozil playing well would be a needed tonic!

4.) 09 Sep 2016 16:14:53
What are you on about? I'm rarely pessimistic about Arsenal, but ofcourse it's a what if - you can't tell me it's a given that they will be a hit?

You've just basically said 'what if our team are really good, wouldn't we be really good? '

I can't wait to see them in action either Ozilbaggins, and I think we could be competitive in th eleague if things go our way too. My apologies for calling a statement that began with 'what if' a 'what if statement' lol.

5.) 09 Sep 2016 17:09:10
If all the new signings play tomorrow ( which i don't think all will start) and they bomb, it doesn't make them bad signings, if they come in and excel it doesn't make them the buiz either. Ten games minimum to even start to make a proper judgement. One swallow and all that. Reyes and gervinho looked world beaters in their first few games, ozil and henry looked a waste of money in their first few games, lots of games later and?
It will be nice to see them all make a great start but the proof is how they finish.

6.) 09 Sep 2016 18:39:13
Virtually Impossible for all to play Steve unless Kos is dropped of course:-)

7.) 09 Sep 2016 19:06:24
agree steve fingers crossed!

8.) 10 Sep 2016 10:05:06
I'm sorry but best defence in the prem?
Smelling and Bailly, Luiz and Zouma (when he comes back) Stones and Otamendi, Morgan and Huth.

01 Sep 2016 18:02:33
Could someone on here please help reassure me that we are going to use some sort of smart rotation. Where wingers rotate with wingers (Walcott, Perez, Ox etc) and midfielders rotate with mids (Cazorla, Ramsey, Elneny etc) , and we are not going to leave all those wingers on the bench and play Ramsay over on the wing.

Red Rooster

1.) 01 Sep 2016 19:09:31
I don't think we should be rotating full stop, Leicester didn't rotate last season or Chelsea the season before, rotation makes for a happy squad picking the best available 11 week in week out makes for a successful team and club.
Play well play every week play badly lose your place, that a formula that's proved successful ever since I've been watching the game.

{Ed025's Note - im with you G62..

2.) 01 Sep 2016 19:34:22
Good answer G62.

3.) 01 Sep 2016 19:31:13
Imagine telling Southall and Radcliffe or Henry and Bergkamp or Cantona and Giggs or Dalglish and Souness they needed to take their turn so all could be happy Ed025 mate :-) the Everton Arsenal Utd and Liverpool trothy cabinets would look very different today with that approach back then mate.

{Ed025's Note - liverpool won the league with 14 players playing i think G62, as you say rotate them if they play poorly not if they are doing well, continuity is a recipe for success in any walk of life and if you get dropped when you are playing well then that can only breed with you all the way on this one mate..

4.) 01 Sep 2016 20:28:30
62 - agree with you. Only rotate if makes sense from an injury perspective or tactics

For me - Rambo can play on the right and offer late runs, an engine etc in certain games. I look at the role Parlour and Freddie played. Why not Rambo?

5.) 01 Sep 2016 20:38:29
I think they can rotate - the best should should play the most but a little rest and protection from injuries helps, no one gets tired/ jaded and a little freshness with energy from the bench doesn't hurt IMO. I am not talking communism and equality but smart rotation. And if I had a Bergkamp or Henry they would not be rested - nor would Sanchez or Ozil get as much as some others.

Bigger point is keeping a bunch of wingers on the bench while Ramsey takes their spot.

6.) 01 Sep 2016 22:11:37
Whether or not continuity and consistency can win you the league is pretty academic in this context: it's Arsenal and some kind of rotation - most likely forced - will be necessary, as injuries WILL happen.

7.) 01 Sep 2016 22:16:18
The wingers mentioned are all presently unproven premier league challanging players, Aaron is much much further ahead in terms of proven performances as is Caz who can offer much more dependability too.
Ox needs to kick on this season and take any chances he gets big time, Theo I'm not sure if there's any more to find out about him ( hope there is but at 27? ) Perez? Full stop.

8.) 02 Sep 2016 06:55:38
Rambo sucks out wide. Wenger just put him there to "accomodate him". We need to be deadly on both sides otherwise we will be predictable with all our attacks coming from Sanchez wing.

9.) 02 Sep 2016 15:28:25
Rue definitely.

10 Aug 2016 20:24:42
Any chance Kos the Boss steps in on the weekend to start for us?

Red Rooster

1.) 10 Aug 2016 20:55:17
I hope not. Should not risk giving him an injury by throwing him back in. Not being funny but if chambers and holding aren't capable they should be out on loan.

2.) 10 Aug 2016 21:12:57
Agree D16,
No point risking him for 1 game with 37 to go.

3.) 10 Aug 2016 22:31:00
He'll play and rupture his achilles in the 5th minute. Classic Arsenal.

4.) 10 Aug 2016 22:45:27
I'd rather the young lad Beleik chambers reminds me a bit of chicken run.

5.) 10 Aug 2016 23:10:31
Wenger will risk him, there is too much at stake if he doesn't. Agree it is a risk but the fall out for a loss would be massive, the fallout for a loss with an inexperianced defence would be even bigger. Yes there is 37 more games but on sunday it will be about one.

6.) 10 Aug 2016 23:40:07
Agree Steve. I do think the loss of this could affect our season. Also the fans would really get on his back for signings.

7.) 11 Aug 2016 00:00:28
I have a terrible feeling that Loose Cannon's prediction will be correct. We have a habit of losing every player for the same position through injury at the same time. The emirates curse.

30 Jul 2016 17:55:12
So question for the chaps - if we only get one more signing - CB or Striker? Not an easy choice but I am thinking striker, but that we probably get a CB.

Red Rooster

1.) 30 Jul 2016 18:28:39
Who would you rather see in the starting 11 Gabriel or Giroud? Or if they are injured Theo or Chambers?
CB comes out as our biggest weakness in my book just ahead of striker.

2.) 30 Jul 2016 18:34:51
Centrehalf all day.
I would rather we spent 40m on a centrehalf and less on a striker if we can't spend big on both. I look at what Rio did for Utd or Vidik.
Would love a Keown to play centrehalf for us. Fast, leader, determined and good man marker.

3.) 30 Jul 2016 18:55:57
Striker, we have shown with a decent DM that we can defend well enough and we've since added Elneny and Xhaka so someone to consistently smash the ball in the back of the net is the one for me.

Let's also not give up on Gabriel just yet.

4.) 30 Jul 2016 19:07:27
The thing I really don't understand is why is it so difficult to improve us on either of those positions?
Our alternative to Olly is Theo and our partner for Kos is Chambers or Gabriel, its not as if we have to improve on Aguero and Kompany.
I just don't get it.

5.) 30 Jul 2016 20:31:12
The problem G62, is the 'philosophy'.

It's like going to buy a car.
If I go out tomorrow and say I'm going to buy a car for around £5k, then I've got a lot of options.

If I go out and say I want to buy a ford for £5k, still got quite a few options.

If I go and say I want to buy a 2010 Audi for £5k, my options are limited.

But, unfortunately, Arsenal go out looking for a 2016 Mazerrati, automatic, not manual, matte black finish and tinted windows with at least 10 months MOT and a cup holder, for £5k.

And to find that, you have to be pretty bloody lucky.

6.) 30 Jul 2016 21:52:07
Top reply D_.

Spot on mate.

Your not wrong sir, sometimes he is pretty slow to get the new guys in and they have a hard time settling in. Gabriel, xhaka, Perez even someone like Ox etc.

Good question, but how are we supposed to know how our formation works with the bosses' choice of personnel?

Holding/ Merts/ Kos at the back, bullerin and the hulk on the wings and elneny/ coq plus xhaka in the middle would at least give us a chance to understand.

Steve you are bang on this time. Mahrez can be a beast for us and it's all about motivation. I hope we have enough leadership to keep him focused.

Would like to see Mahrez on an incentive driven deal for the player and for the seller. would be a beast with Sanchez and Ozil.

Am I missing something with Perez, he had some nice moments but never got a serious chance. Creative player and can find the goal.

Theo is an unsung hero. Luckily he has enough dough to keep him from getting to sad about it.

Play the man already - he is one of our danger men!

I can get pretty frustrated too my friend, but if we have a solid outing, I am still going to stop and give the lads their due. Let's hope they get on a roll, Chelsea looks flawed to me as well.

Thanks also ed 1, much appreciated!

Red Rooster

{Ed001's Note - thank you RR, glad you enjoy them too. I actually enjoy doing them, I learn a lot doing the research and seeing things that normally I wouldn't notice in regards to form. I never normally look at other teams to see their form etc, so it is very interesting to look at for me.}

That is some kind of negative thinking there G - it's going to be a long season for you. Happy with the performance today, liked that we didn't concede.

Heck of a post from MK. rational and thoughtful. Seems out of place with the heckling and hysteria we get around here most of the time, see where ed 2 is coming from.

No advice today but the next couple of moves is critical and the next game, we have been so good for so long we have been spoiled. It can change fast. C'mon Wenger!
