Hi Ed’s hearing rumours that Nzonzi has handed in a transfer request . Any current interest from Arsenal and a cheeky supplementary question is Banega a possibility- with the Sevilla connections . Thanks in advance COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed001's Note - N'Zonzi has handed in a transfer request just about every summer since he joined. I don't know about interest from Arsenal. I do know Dick Emery would love to bring in Banega, but I am not so sure that everyone else is so keen.}

1.) 04 Jul 2018 10:32:45
Nzonzi would be ideal alongside Torreira in front of the back four. I am not sure the current 'noise' isn't being initiated by the player himself and I am a tad concerned that he has a poor attitude.

2.) 04 Jul 2018 17:09:53
All this rubbish about N’zonzi is just that. Torreira (hopefully) joining after the World Cup, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles and El Nenny extending their contracts and Ramsey soon to follow there is exactly zero chance Arsenal pony up any significant amount of money to buy a 29-year old Defensive midfielder. The lot of you should stop believing the trash all these tabloids put out there!

3.) 05 Jul 2018 02:22:49
Agreed raver. High hopes for Ainsley, very talented young lad.

That said, as Ed001 says, we may still see Banega arrive. Maybe dependent on another departure?

4.) 06 Jul 2018 16:17:24
I think after torreira next on the agenda would be a winger. Although against better sides away from home playing two better DM'S is a good option to have.

10 Jun 2018 00:43:55
Hi Ed02 ifTorreira was number four on the list of defensive midfielders who were the top three we were looking at and have any of them been recommended by scouts still at the club? Thanks in advance COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - Fabinho - who was recommended by a scout still at the club. Julian Weigl - I don't know who recommended him but the same Arsenal scout who recommended Fabinho was asked to watch him on a couple of occasions. Wilfred Ndidi - I don't know who recommended him but Wenger wass keen apparently, - but it seems a view that was not shared by others.}

1.) 10 Jun 2018 12:07:51
Thanks as always ed02.

20 May 2018 12:17:11
Cazorla to Villarreal - no more cozy club ?

SUSSEX AFC

1.) 20 May 2018 17:12:34
But we are possibly bringing back Artetta, one out one in ;-)
And even if Artetta doesn't happen we still have Mertesacker flying the cosy Flagg:-)

2.) 20 May 2018 17:56:13
Arteta*.

3.) 21 May 2018 20:37:08
Personally I would have given Cazorla a 1 Year extension to see how he would come back from the injury, but obvs we are not close to situation to judge fully. He was miles ahead of Ramsey and Xakha in my view when fit and at his best. One of my fav recent Arsenal Players sad day.

16 May 2018 22:36:22
In 1996 when Wenger was appointed ( and inherited a good squad) the only manager of real note was Sir Alex ( class 92 ) . In world football there was none better but no others in the prem at that time. Now we have Pep Klopp Moanio Conte Mopo who are all rated on world stage . In my humble opinion we can't take a chance as there are 5 top class managers already here. We can't be cheap but fear we will. Ed002 has stated our options are becoming limited and I believe that but then I believe the eds are florists or trainee chimney sweeps. Give him the budget Allegri for me if not Ancellotti COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - Allegri would be a great choice but it is not “budget” per se that is the issue. It is not a “give me 250M euro” issue. But as I said, he would be a great pick.{

1.) 17 May 2018 07:11:29
What I don’t get, Is clearly at points Allergi could have been had. The fans want him, the players would be more than happy to work under him I’m sure, out of all the candidates we’ve been linked with, he’s most likely to steer the ship the right way and attract too talent; so why on Earth are the board not doing everything they can to get him. The board really are just in it for the money.

2.) 17 May 2018 00:20:34
Thanks Ed02! Is it our position in world footballl that is not attractive to Allegri or is he just happy 😊 at Juve? Also can I have a quote for a dozen roses and a hearth that needs cleaning in Sussex? COYG.

{Ed002's Note - Coaches want to understand the management structure, their role, what the expectations are, will their style of football fit with the players they have, what changes they will be able to make etc.. They will consider what has happened with coaches in the past - and from that point Arsenal are well placed.}

3.) 17 May 2018 13:40:50
No idea why we don't spend big if players are the right age price Stan should look at them as an investment.

A top4 return won't come for free.

4.) 17 May 2018 18:24:49
Derby you get the players that are needed, whatever the price. Like you say, the right players pay for themselves and their value goes up if you get the right players.

29 Jan 2018 21:15:52
Probably get slaughtered but Fellaini at right price for CDM - big strong a goal in him and a plan b or c! Tin hat on . Any interest at all please Ed 02?

SUSSEX AFC

{Ed002's Note - Not from Arsenal.}

1.) 29 Jan 2018 23:35:35
Thanks ed 002.

2.) 30 Jan 2018 06:43:33
I would sign Fellaini and Luiz and pair them together as DM's. Wenger won't sign either player!

3.) 30 Jan 2018 09:07:52
Imagine a team with Luiz, Willian, Fellaini, Sane, and Dante. For pure intimidation value we'd be streets ahead in the league table.

Germany the old Arsenal and Sweden the new? COYG.

SUSSEX AFC

1.) 23 Jun 2018 21:03:27
Hope not because Sweden let 10 man Germany gain the upper hand like Arsenal of old - 😉.

2.) 23 Jun 2018 21:25:27
Yep Sy4 you can’t keep them down although when I posted they were 1-0 down . My point is hopefully we have an organised team who all work for each other - without the last minute winners 😀COYG.

29 May 2018 04:51:25
Juventus reportedly allowing Higuain to leave! Anyone? 😂😂😂😂 madness begins.

SUSSEX AFC

1.) 29 May 2018 09:00:32
I both think and hope the new management team aren't going to go down the road where they think it's good for us to be linked to top players even though those players have no interest in joining us, its not good for our image at all it just makes us look delusional and out of touch with reality.
Give me a real Johnny Evans story over a ridiculous unrealistic Mbappe Illusion any day of the week.

25 May 2018 20:16:49
Only Nacho really from usual defence going to World Cup! Am interested to see if Unai is happy to improve what we have in defence particularly with one or two DMs in front of them or buy new centre backs. If we assume Hector and Monreal good enough surely one or two from Kos Mustafi Holding Mav and Chambers will impress new boss in new system?

SUSSEX AFC

1.) 25 May 2018 23:31:29
Thats why we let so many goals in.

2.) 26 May 2018 02:08:50
Question is are they all as bad as they have shown or will more protection better coaching etc improve them or will he just buy? COYG.

3.) 26 May 2018 08:13:45
I'm certain Emery will improve our defence from a tactical point of view. Under Wenger in recent seasons we were all over the place defensively.
With a properly marshalled back four and midfield, Cech will get protection opposed to being continually exposed.
GK: Keep Cech for th final year of his contract, sell Ospina and sign Leno.
RB: Reports of signing Lichtsteiner on a free emerging. Although he is 34, he is fit as a fiddle and is a proper RB, unlike Bellerin, who cannot tackle and has no defensive positional sense. If we can achieve £40m, I would sell him and bring in Lichsteiner and a new young RB. I also like Southampton's Soares.
CB: We need to sign 2 CB's. Perhaps, Papastathopoulos and Diallo. We have Mavropanos and Holding as cover. I would sell Chambers and Mustafi. Koscielny won't be back until next year.
LB: I would keep Monreal and Kolasinac
DM: Xhaka will improve under Emeryi. Nzonzi would be a signing. I would love to see us sign Verratti. Maitland-Niles must be played in his true position as a DM.

To fund purchases we should sell: Ospina, Chambers, Mustafi, Akpom, Campbell, Bellerin (if £40m+ can be achieved) and Perez.

I don't believe we only have the reported £50-70m, plus sales to spend. Arsenal went about their business of appointing the new manager in a professional way and I am sure, unless it is for tactical purposes, they would not give details of the amount they have to spend. The club has substantial funds at their disposal and barely had a net spend last season, with Sanchez swopped for Mkhitaryan. Aubamayang came in, but we sold Oxlade, Coquelin, Szczesny, etc.

I can't wait for the new season to see a different style of play, with the defensive side of the game upgraded.

4.) 26 May 2018 10:33:40
I'm confident mustafi has more than he's shown and think he will do well with emery. In defence I would keep monreal kolasinic mustafi holding and the Greek lad. I love kos the boss but I feel we have abused him by making him the only reliable cb and it has caught up with him.

5.) 26 May 2018 10:54:23
I agree Kos is done unfortunately Kin mate, he's been absolutely outstanding for us but covering first everyone else and playing through injury have taken their toll on him.
What a waste of a very very good player who in my opinion deserved to play in a much better Arsenal team than he ever did.

6.) 26 May 2018 11:00:28
Kinloch - I think you are correct. In Wenger's team of last season we had no true experienced DM players and the defence was often played too high, allowing teams to get in behind, which made the defence and keeper look poor.
If we sign the Greek CB from Dortmundt and play: Bellerin, Mustafi, Greek CB from Dortmundt and Monreal, with Maitland-Niles and say Nzonzi as DM's, then the defence will improve enormously with proper defensive coaching and DM's. In addition, away from home play Mkhirayan, Ramsey and Xhaka as the 3 midfield in front of the 2 DM's, we will become secure at the back and stop conceding weak goals. Possibly replace Ramsey with Seri.

7.) 26 May 2018 12:17:55
The two I am interested in seeing how well they play the most are Xhaka and Mustafi. Neither have impressed overall but also am convinced aren't as bad as some may have us believe. I believe they are both decent just haven't shown it yet and further believe this change of manager system attitude will prove that COYG ps happy Anfield '89 day it's also my sons birthday 😀.

8.) 26 May 2018 16:01:33
61 - our mid year accounts show a drop in revenue due to ticket price fall as well as broadcasting fall due to Champ league failure. Our profit increased but due to property profits and player sales. Our footballing costs actually increased despite reduced bonuses following champ league failure.

We do have 160m in cash which is good but we owe 60m in player transfer fees plus we don’t have access to the full 160m due to debt covenants.

We have a healthy cash position but EL is costing us dearly and without external money coming in - how will long will it take to burn through the remaining 80m. Once we spend 70m this window p, us player Sales - it doesn’t leave much for future windows. I doubt we have much more than the reported 70m plus sales from players to be honest unless the owners fund it or we start leveraging the club more like Manu.

Our commercial deals are getting better - shirt sleeve sponsorship etc but it’s a drop in the ocean compared to what City can draw down on with their ownership structure.

FFP was the saving grace for the soul of football until then it’s the play ground of the mega rich who play with EPL clubs like normal people play on PS or Xbox.

Really hope Emery is confirmed! It didn't make any sense to be clearing out the back room staff for Arteta. None of us knew what was going on and I think the club used Arteta and Henry as smoke screens to get who they want. It is how we do and should do business. I am 100 per cent behind this appointment should it happen and the only person i can find who is against it is Punani but then mate you called two time possibly three time Champions League winning manager Zidane a " Rookie " . I'm happy 😊 COYG or YAABILY.

1.) 22 May 2018 06:31:26
My daughter was sick yesterday, so I couldn't get much on the hype with Emery's news until now.
It's look like the board had to save the day after making a mess out of it.
I'm happy with our new coach and very excited to see what he can do for us.
We don't get our self a Pep, a Klopp, a Mou or a Conte. Emery it's not a fancy chose, but he is a dedicated worker and passionated for what he do. Perfect to steady the ship right now.
Let's not forget that we are 6th now and no UCL for two years in a row. I think we get our self the best possible deal in this situation, far superior that any high potential but inexperienced option.
Kudos to g62, who in my despair over Arteta's confirmation, warn me not believe everything I read.

2.) 22 May 2018 11:59:38
Hi fidelo hope your little girl is feeling better today mate.
We've all fell for the media hit seekers in the past but a couple of years ago I came to the conclusion if Ornstein and the Eds don't know about the anything it's highly unlikely the tabloids hit needers do either so there for it has to be a load of benzema.
If there is any substance to a story then the reliable sources will be talking about it.
if Ornstein and the Eds are saying it then I listen and if the bbc main football page are reporting on it then there is definitely something happening in my experience.

3.) 22 May 2018 13:32:00
She's getting better mate, thanks!

Agree 62 regarding Gabriel, thought he was useful and a lot of games I saw he was always covering for Mert or Chambers . If Mustafi is not moved on I am hoping the new atmosphere motivates him and he plays like a 35mill player, he definitely fell out with Wenger over something COYG.

Class on grass! I try not to get suckered in by players that slag off rivals via social media or scream at a team mate when a pass is missed to him - crowd pleasers! Me I’m happy with quality - Ozil and over a number of years Kos. It’s the way of the World - one lost game one mistake then hang him by his Buster Browns! Well said Ed and hopefully our defensive unit defend for once and let Mr Assister do his thing COYG.
