Hi ed; do arsenal have an interest in sofiane boufal? If so have they made any sort of contact or enquiry about his availibility with his club?

Waq1

{Ed002's Note - Although Sofiane Boufal only moved to Lille in January 2015, bids from Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester City are expected in 2016 - the issue being is that he is recovering from an operation intended to address a recurring injury issue. PSG and Monaco have both had the player watched regularly and PSG, Barcelona and Chelsea have spoken with Lille to see if some sort of deal may be possible. Roma, Inter, Manchester United and Lyon have also had the player watched this season.}

1.) 01 Jul 2016 23:47:14
So he is injured? Must be Arsenal bound then lol.

2.) 02 Jul 2016 05:10:10
Gavsta. You took the words out of my mouth mate .
Nice one 😂.

23 Jun 2016 01:19:23
any truth in rumours regarding arsenal making contact about the 2 Brazilian youngsters.
One from Sao Paola- Marquinhos I believe and not too sure about the second, left back I believe?
Thanks for your time.

Waq1

1.) 23 Jun 2016 06:42:11
After Andre' Santos, I believe we should steer well clear of Brazillian left-backs named Santos.

2.) 23 Jun 2016 13:05:29
I know absolutely nothing of Marquinhos, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, Douglas Santos had a fairly long spell at Udinese (3-4 seasons I think) and he never really cut the mustard.
Wouldn't be convinced myself.

3.) 23 Jun 2016 15:50:30
I'd like to add that after a bit of reading, turns out he was only there 2 seasons (1 permanent, 1 loan) and only played 2 full games, so clearly old age is frazzling my memory, ignore my earlier comments!

4.) 23 Jun 2016 16:22:49
Not too fussed about the Lb, but regarding Marquinhos the rumours state we are willing to meet his release clause of 30mil which seems quite high for a 17year old. So if interest is there, is he really that good?
Would personally prefer Gabriel barbosa tbh, looked good in the copa America.

Hi ed, I was wondering if you had information regarding arsenals interest in mikhitariyan (spelling) . As in if there is interest in him from arsenal?
Also any information regarding the ST targets?
Thanks.

Waq1

{Ed025's Note - chelsea are in talks with him waq and look favourites mate after losing out on griezmann..

1.) 21 May 2016 14:36:02
Striker is going to be the hardest position for us to strengthen in my opinion.

A lot of other big clubs are also after strikers and there's not that many top quality ones available.

Higuain: would cost a fortune and Chelsea are also chasing him.

Aubamayang: big asking price (60m+) , he also favours a move to Real Madrid so unlikely we'd stand a chance.

Lewandowski: Wanted by Real. Would Bayern even sell? and if they did would he want to come to us?

Benzema: More likely to spend next season playing handball in prison.

Lukaku: Is he really good enough? And for the prices being thrown about is he worth it?

Lacazette: Again, is he good enough? As the Eds have pointed out Lyon are a nightmare to deal with.

Ibra: Huge wages, even bigger ego. Undoubtedly has the quality and the physicality to play in the prem but at his age and with his difficult personality it could be a case of the risks far outweighing the potential rewards.

Alvaro Morata: Big prices being quoted but definitely has the quality and age is on his side.

Lucas Perez: Can he step up to the level required? He's shown he's a top class player but teams will play completely differently against us than they do against Deportivo. His link up play is good and so is his movement off the ball. Any of the Eds have an opinion on him?

Icardi: Not quite reached the level this season as he did in the previous but could be a good addition for sure. I'm still a little sceptical about his ability but would represent a step up in class than Giroud. Inter saying he's not for sale, but based on info the Eds have given out it seems they'd be open to letting him move on.

Cavani: Big wages, big fee and PSG unlikely to let him go now Ibra is leaving.

Bakambu: Can he step up to the level required? Also would he suit our style of play? Marcelino has his team play a vastly different style to our own and it could be a case of the style getting the best out of the player.

Nice effort, sforza. Good post.

Hi ed, is it true Arsenal had Rubén neuves (spelling) of Porto scouted in both games this past week?
Also can you see nolito joining Arsenal in January?
Thanks.

Waq1

{Ed002's Note - Porto's Ruben Neves will likely be subject to a January offer from Chelsea as interest grows from Manchester City, PSG and Real Madrid, with Real Madrid also likely to make a January offer. Porto has no interest in selling in Jnuary. Liverpool had scouts at a Porto match (against Maccabi Tel Aviv) and Asenal were present at the ame match and against Dinamo Kyev, I don't know who they were looking at as several Porto players are attracting attention (Martins Indi, Brahimi and Neves).

Barcelona has approached Celta Vigo about taking Nolito in Januiary - but Nolito says he will not move anywhere just as cover for others and wants a commitment of game time. Arsenal have had Nolito watched by a scout recently. They may be an option. A Spanish club could force move (if the player agrees) by paying a release clause that he has, but even though he has been playing well recently, Barcelona are the only Spanish club to have shown an interest.}

Ed hope you could answer a few questions please;
Is El sheraaway still a target for arsenal? Heard he's not been in much contention in their since his return from injury.
Is aymeric laporte a genuine target for January? Or are we looking else where?
I know it's early yet, and the January window is a whole away yet. But do you have any info regarding possible interest for January signings? Would appreciate your info, thanks

Waq1

{Ed002's Note - (1) No. (2) Not that I am aware. He would be really expensive. (3) Cheick Tiote is worth keeping an eye on.}

Just a few things I wanted to give me opinion on;
1. squad depth; how can you say this squad is weak, when we are still competing at the top of the league without having a huge chunk of our teams core missing a large amount of games? As well as the majority of the players who would be on the bench. Why is it ok to say city are not at the top because they are missing kompany because he is so important to them. Aren't coquelin and cazorla and Sanchez just as important to us? If not the why? All teams have their injuries and being close to the top proves we can cope now.
2. Strength of teams; read somewhere that they don't believe that other teams have become stronger. Really? The fact there are teams like Everton, who haven't been big spenders, bought a striker for close to £30mil clearly indicates the improvement of other teams. Teams are spending more, have larger squads and more hunger this season. It cannot be denied.
3. Arsenals best chance; I agree it's a very good opportunity for Arsenal to win the league. But I don't believe it's because the rivals are poor or haven't added to their squads. City bought one of the best midfielders, a World Cup finalist CB, a promising winger. Spending over £100mil. Chelsea bought, United bought, Liverpool bought, Tottenham bought. All the teams have added to their squads. Yet none have have pulled ahead of Arsenal. So what's to say they will leave us behind if they buy again?
4. Signings; in particular a Striker; we all want a striker but who is available? Some have said make them available by throwing money at the clubs, so why weren't city able to get their striker target? Or Chelsea? Or Manu? It's not as easy as some think.
5. Comparison to 13/ 14 season; the difference from then to now, other than having fewer points, is that at that time in the first half of the season, we had most of our main players fit. This time obviously we missed quite a few. Also this time we've got Sanchez, who I'm 100% confident will be on fire this half of the season and help us to the title
6. No reason to predict anything matches or final positions this season, because no one is dominant. All we can do is take it game by game, and hit mini spurts of wins. As no one seems to be able to win 4/ 5 games in a row. This will be a season to remember.

"When you start supporting a football club, you don't support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history. You support it because you found yourself somewhere there, you found a place where you completely belong."
Dennis Bergkamp
Good times come and go, think a lot of fans and clubs have lost themselves in the hunt for glory.

Waq1

1.) 04 Sep 2015 15:13:03
Here's a question for u Waq,

If u could have just back back in Henry or Dennis in there prime, which one would u choose?

2.) 04 Sep 2015 15:29:35
I agree with some of that Waq but when you care about something or someone and give them your support you want them to be the best that they can possibly be and if the best they can possibly be is 20th and are relegated so be it you don't give up on them but if they are selling themselves short and not doing all they can you are entitled to be disappointed in them and to say so.

3.) 04 Sep 2015 15:38:21
At this moment in time Ctr it would have to be Henry for sheer weight of goals because that's what we currently lack.

Mind you I'd kill for a player to score as many as bergkamp atm

4.) 04 Sep 2015 15:49:03
Bergkamp for me as he set up so many goals

5.) 04 Sep 2015 16:06:58
Bergkamp absolute class on grass in a league of his own the best playerr we've ever had or are likely to ever have. Worth the entrance fee on his own, Henry was unbelievably brilliant but Denis was better, I'll stop now because I'm pining all over again :-( but just to be clear BERGKAMP gets my vote.

6.) 04 Sep 2015 16:21:38
Henry all day is the one we need. Bergie amazing but I'd take Henry right now guaranteed goals

7.) 04 Sep 2015 20:29:26
Even Wrighty.

8.) 04 Sep 2015 22:03:00
To waq1 - Finally a proper fan. Totally agree with Dennis's words of wisdom

9.) 04 Sep 2015 22:05:18
Love 'Bergie' but Henry all day long. Whilst typing this, one of my favourite goals was when he took a free kick, nodded to it and said something like "Is that good enough" whilst nodding, loved his positive confident attitude. >>Sigh

{Ed025's Note - henry for me as well DW, best player to ever gace the prem, with dennis a close second and shearer 3rd..

10.) 05 Sep 2015 08:28:26
Christopher Wreh for me

11.) 05 Sep 2015 10:38:23
Henry any day of the week, apart from bank holidays of course.

12.) 05 Sep 2015 10:40:18
Shearer was quality Ed my favourite English striker followed by ian weight then fowler shearer was always up there and never played for the money true great at the game

13.) 05 Sep 2015 11:02:42
P.s. You have to laugh, over on the lfc site they're saying Fowler is the best Prem era striker and that Henry had 'better players around him' which made him look better!

Henry, Shearer, Drogba, RvN and more - all better all-round no. 9's than Fowler on a consistent basis.

Perhaps this is the world famous scouse humour you hear about?

{Ed001's Note - or perhaps it is just a difference of opinion? Henry was fed by the great Bergkamp, Fowler had who of that class? As for the rest, you must never have seen Fowler play if you think Drogba was better as a number 9. And to suggest RvN and Shearer were better all-round no 9s is idiotic. Better at some aspects, but neither of them could hit free kicks with his accuracy, neither of them could dribble past players as Fowler could and neither of them had his range of passing which was up there with the best midfielders. It is amazing how few people realise just how good Fowler was, he earnt the nickname God for a good reason.}

14.) 05 Sep 2015 12:02:02
Drogba over fowler all day. Henry's goal away at Madrid says it all. The guy could kill a defence on his own

Even fowler would agree. Caragher still has nightmares now

15.) 05 Sep 2015 12:20:03
A difference of opinion that depends largely on who you support Id say, which is why I made the point. I don't think many if any non lfc fans would say Fowler, whilst many non arsenal fans would say Henry and many neutrals would say Shearer (despite him not having great players around him).

Fowler was a top player but not the best striker on a consistent basis for me. Perhaps the term "all round" was mis guided, I should have said the others do what Id want from a top striker more regularly. That other stuff (free kicks, passing) is great but the likes of Drogba, RvN, Shearer were more consistent at getting important goals which lead to winning games - which is what I want from a top striker. All three were a constant nuisance to defences whilst also having the clinical finish to make the opposition pay, more often than not. Fowler could do the same on a good day, just not as often from my memory. Henry was on a different level altogether Imo because he could get those vital goals but also provide the magic to create the chances, on a more consistent basis than anyone else.

Fowler would be one of the next best after that group in my book.

16.) 05 Sep 2015 19:23:21
Do you feel that fowler is LFC's version of wrighty as in how he was loved by the respective fans. I'm by no way comparing the too in a football sense

17.) 05 Sep 2015 08:11:18
No Ronaldo Ed?

09 May 2015 17:03:54
Hi eds, you stated that one of arsenals targets this summer are fekir as 1st choice and Isco as second choice, I was just wondering as both are attacking mids, are they being looked at as a replacement? If so any idea who for? Thanks

Waq1

{Ed002's Note - It is best to try not to complicate matters.}

My thoughts on yesterdays game;
Probably our best performance in terms of dominance this season. Great football, great atmosphere and great battling by the players, even ozil got stuck in at times.
leaving sanchez and pushing ozil back out wide again was puzzling and probably cost us a win, therefore I believe the injury to ramsey, although a big loss, may become a blessing in disguise. He was capable of performing quality moments still, but was just looking like he was trying to force the issue at times.
this could mean ozil bcomes a regular at CAM, and hopefully sanchez and ox on the wings.
back to the game; we should have won, sanchez should of started or atleast come on earlier, chambers and ox combo looks quality, the more I see chambers play the more I feel we have got ourselves a world class defender of the near future.
our performances are improving, the players are gelling and as long as we don't get any further injuries in defence, things are looking to be improving. Just one big hurdle next week, and if we come out of the tie with a positive result, then I can only see things improving further.
Like I said before, let's judge after 15 games, it will test our patience but I have faith it will come with great reward.
Take Care gooners,

Waq1

1.) Improving? If we are improving then i'm watching the wrong team I think. We learn nothing. Same mistakes

2.) With all due respect nobody gets15 games in the premier league. Wenger shouldn't need 15 games and the league could be well and truly
over by then. Why should we need 15 games, wenger is supposed to be experienced and knowledgeable. The bloke is either capable or not and at the moment not. A good result at chelsea would change a few opinions and for me tell us everything if we dont.

3.) We are out of the title race already. miles off

17 Sep 2014 23:02:06
wow the level of negativity on here is crazy high.
has this been a below par start to the season?; other than winning the community shield, 100% yes. many players have been below par and we haven't made the key defensive midfield signing needed.
regardless of this I am not upset. it has only been a few games, and every team has stale patches like this. once the team finds its balance the performances will improve.
Ozil is getting a lot of criticism, and I guess rightly so, along with wenger, but surely there must be a reason why he is continually played in that position by both arsene and lowe, even though there are more natural players for that position.
but once again I don't mind it too much atm, because one thing I noticed when one of central players are out of form, wenger puts them out wide for period, he did it with ramsey and wilshere and RVP. so i'm sure he knows what he's doing. we should until at least 15 games in before considering where this season is going.

Waq1

1.) 15 games wow the season could be dead by then. The reason for all the negativity is with the problems that are on going and getting worse. We are going to be buried if it carries on like this. It's not what it might be in the future, its the uttet rubbish that's going on now.

2.) 18 Sep 2014 07:59:42
Based on form, 15 games into the season we will be 20+ points behind Chelsea.

3.) Mate I admire optimism, I really do. We'll need it for this season. However for me this isn't just a stale patch. This is a continuation of the problems we have been facing year on year and now the financial restraints have been removed, I was hoping Arsene would have listened to the fans and made an effort to correct them. Simple answer was he didn't and now I am of the opinion that he is not fit for purpose to manage Arsenal Football Club (Regardless of what he has done in the past)

The 'In Arsene we Trust' brigade need to wakeup and smell the coffee, the man needs to go. We are spending money now on good players to no effect as this dinosaur has no idea how to utilize them in the modern game.

4.) Lets not get to excited, neither did city or Chelsea win thier openers either, with the latter playing at home.

5.) I said ages ago we will be further from top spot than we were last year! and we will! last season was a weird season. both pellegrini and jose are more settled with there teams.

Thanks ed, if the bid is from arsenal and we sign him, could be a promising signing, but may also mean possible departure? hmm
btw ed, sorry bout the questions, but do you have any info regarding the interest in Nastasic? rumours or genuine interest? Thanks

I have a feeling any forward signed will either be as a result of a domino effect or very late in the window. also I have a feeling we will sign a forward who can play across the frontline like sanchez. would provide great movement and fluidity to our attacks. a bit like barca when the had henry eto and messi

It's just one of those games where it wouldn't go for us. I don't agree we missed cazorla, because we have had similar games already with cazorla in the team. Also we did create quite a few chances, just wouldn't go in especially for Walcott.
The player were missing in these games is Giroud or welbeck, to provide a physical outlet up top.

But he's been playing and starting as a wide forward for Wales? Him and bale were starting either side of Rob-Kanu. Yes they've been given freedom to roam, but he does so for arsenal too.
And he's best season wasn't in the no.10 role but as a deeper CM.

I was thinking the same jegooner, and still don't see why not. He's a good finisher, great touch n dribbling, causes defenders havoc. Strong too.
But think we'll need to buy 2 goal scoring wingers on either side of him tho. Reus and Mahrez would do nicely.

I don't get the point of this question. I'm still one of the few remaining who have faith in wenger, but I don't think that has any effect on my opinion on any of the players.
for me ramsey is the future of arsenal, and wilshere will also be a big player for us.

How is ronaldos shooting better then messi? equal imo
plus messi is much better at freekicks.
and then there's attributes like passing, vision, balance. all which messi is superior at.
