Ed. Any truth in the Draxler rumours and do you think he could do a job for us?

Cheers.

paulb1966

{Ed002's Note - Draxler has been offered to two clubs without the permission of PSG who have no interest in selling him.}

1.) 19 Aug 2017 14:24:24
Isnt that against the rules ed?

{Ed002's Note - What rules?}

2.) 19 Aug 2017 21:41:46
Offering the player to other clubs without psg's permission?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, I don't understand.}

3.) 20 Aug 2017 09:04:33
well this thread is making a really easy conversation very hard.

28 Jul 2017 17:27:15
Evening Standard saying Lemar signing is odds on to happen. Ed what's your take, do you think we are close to a deal?

paulb1966

{Ed002's Note - I have no way to measure "close" Paul. If Arsenal can agree a fee then something can be done.}

1.) 28 Jul 2017 17:36:52
I think the fee would be difficult. They want 80m euros was it? And if reports are to be believed we're offering around 50. Seems a long way off.

2.) 28 Jul 2017 18:03:06
The deal will happen at 70 million euros according to my contact 😂.

3.) 28 Jul 2017 18:14:02
The ball is once again in our court and if we are not prepared to go for match point when we have the chance then we will undoubtedly end up losing him to another club who is.

4.) 28 Jul 2017 19:12:54
I think both arsenal and Monaco playing hard ball and this kind of transfer will drag to the last day and then booom we miss on him as always.

5.) 28 Jul 2017 17:48:26
Ed do you think arsenal will agree a fee or do u think we will go for mahrez instead?

{Ed002's Note - I can explain interest but I busted my crystal ball Ibraim.}

6.) 28 Jul 2017 23:09:02
The fact that Mahrez is heavily linked with Roma and we still haven't made a move for him yet suggests that Arsenal must be confident in landing Lemar and Monaco lowering the price as the window nears the end.

7.) 28 Jul 2017 23:51:16
History suggest we will count the pennies and settle for the player that suits the pocket rather than the task at hand, as with poor old Perez who did nothing wrong but be a pacifier for missing out on other targets can tell.
Do it right or do it cheap that's our choice.

8.) 29 Jul 2017 09:03:31
As I posted the other week, be prepared for Sanchez to leave mid August and Arsenal to sign neither Lemar or Mahrez. Late August we'll panic buy a 6 out of 10 player for around 30m. Possibly Barkley this year.

26 Jul 2017 16:31:12
Ross Barkley is definitely leaving Everton. Opinions on coming to us? Think he could do a job and perhaps do the Santi job that we have missed so badly?

paulb1966

1.) 26 Jul 2017 16:45:52
I'm not sure it would be a good fit at all, he's a talented boy no doubt about that but I think he needs to go somewhere where the expectations are extremely high from every player and if you don't work out your quickly shipped out, Chelsea Utd City maybe even Spurs but not us because we need more players who self motivate and set high standards of themselves like Sanchez not more players who are hit and miss.
He's an excellent prospect and we are a great club but together I don't think we would do each other any favours.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 18:58:38
I think he's over rated but that doesn't mean he can't be good. Like a lot of British players his first touch is poor.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 19:21:25
He's a bit like Jack for me when but without the injuries he's good he's very good but when he's not he's a passenger.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 19:24:32
Everton fan here and I personally think he would do well at you guys he needs to leave us as he needs to get away from his circle of friends also Steve. r not sure how much you have watched Ross but he has a fantastic first touch.

5.) 26 Jul 2017 20:19:00
He has the ability 79 mate but it's the attitude that's the question and if there is one thing we don't need right now simeone who has a? Over his attitude and commitment.

6.) 26 Jul 2017 20:34:41
He much better than jack wilshere I'd take him but it for 50m.

7.) 26 Jul 2017 21:03:14
Blimey, British players compared to foreigners are poor, that's why they are never nominated for the big awards and our teams are so average on international competition. Sorry I don't know any current English midfielder with a great touch.

8.) 26 Jul 2017 21:20:58
On the odd occasion when Jack is hot he can be outstandingly good but unfortunately even when fit this occasions are few and far between and becoming less bit more frequent with age.
Ross is a gamble we don't need to take right now.

9.) 26 Jul 2017 21:32:00
Gunner we definitely don't need him. He hasn't got the best teams in Europe after him, why? He's not that good, can't even get in England team.

10.) 26 Jul 2017 21:48:14
Gunner Jack was rated by a lot of people because he had that rare British talent, a first touch. Gaza is the only other recent one and that's why big foreign teams came sniffing.

11.) 26 Jul 2017 23:26:39
barkley to spurs is worlds best kept secret.

12.) 26 Jul 2017 23:27:43
Steve a lot of that to be fair is the money in the premier league, Gerrard Lamport and others would have moved abroad if the premier league wasn't so rich mate.

13.) 26 Jul 2017 23:50:28
Gunner the best players English or foreign are not in the prem. It's kick and rush. The best paid players in the world are outside the prem.

14.) 27 Jul 2017 08:04:21
Barcelona Real Bayern Juventus PSG attract top players either on par to the prem or even superior to the PREM but that's 5 teams from 4 different countries Steve mate pounds for pound the premier league attracts more quality players across a car big number of clubs.
Kick and rush it maybe but it's world wide appeal makes it super rich which is why the likes of Theo earn so much within it.

15.) 28 Jul 2017 11:38:24
Why not keep the Ox and let him play the Santi role rather than shelling out a lot for another player?

16.) 29 Jul 2017 07:43:35
Steve r dele dally and adam bannana are two english midfielders with a very good first touch. don't want barkley at arsenal. i think he is overated. his numbers ain't all that anyway. Rather have someone like goretszka.

22 Jul 2017 11:15:47
Ed. Is there any chance of Sanchez to PSG?

paulb1966

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely.}

1.) 22 Jul 2017 11:45:14
Thanks for coming back Ed002. Do you think if a deal for Sanchez goes through it will be a straight cash deal or will PSG include some players in the transfer i. e. Aurier, Matuidi, Rabiot? Any response is appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - They may consider discussing players at the same time but Arsenal would have no interest in discussing players they are not looking to.}

2.) 22 Jul 2017 12:02:41
Thanks Ed, I thought we would have an interest in Matuidi but obviously not. PSG will have an incredible team if the manage to sign both Neymar and Sanchez.

{Ed002's Note - Sure but PSG has a lot of players they are moving on and if Arsenal agree to a discussion they will not want to complicate matters.}

3.) 22 Jul 2017 12:09:49
Ed not trying to push my luck here but while your available could I ask you if PSG securing Sanchez would in effect end their interest in Benzema and cut our competion for his signature down to just the Milan clubs? And do you think the lack of CL football would make Benzema less likely to consider us at all from what youv gathered? I know youv eluded to the fact that Real won't even consider his sale unless they secure Mbappe or Lewandowski but do you feel Benzema would be interested in joining Arsenal regardless as I find it a little bit of a stretch imagining he'd fancy the change of scenery.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - PSG want a "well known" French player and several fit the bill - MBappe, Benzema, Griezmann, etc.. Out of the options available and with other plans I suspect, with the baggage, KB is the least likely of these.}

4.) 22 Jul 2017 12:10:00
According to sky sports they will make a 35m bid next week. I hope we just laugh at them as we reject it. Last year in his contract or not I feel he's worth more.

5.) 22 Jul 2017 13:17:02
Ed002! Glad you're back!

6.) 22 Jul 2017 13:31:11
He's worth more to us. I feel he's going to stay.

7.) 22 Jul 2017 15:41:08
Anything around the 60Mill mark from PSG and would accept it tbh it is clear Sanchez wants to move on and being in his final year of his contract it is silly to lose out on such a fee and risk losing to a PL rival in City for free for the sake of one season when we are not in the Champions league anyway. I think keeping Shanchez against his wish will be bad for the team balance and I think he will get too greedy and selfish on the ball trying to sell himself too much.

8.) 22 Jul 2017 15:42:35
Sanchez or Ed002?

9.) 23 Jul 2017 00:27:30
id take krychowiak and cash.

14 Jul 2017 13:23:16
Ed's. Any news on Lemar or Mahrez? Things have gone quiet on this front?

paulb1966

{Ed001's Note - nothing has changed.}

1.) 14 Jul 2017 13:51:32
Monaco won't sell Lemar.
Roma are sniffing around Mahrez.

I think know we should drop the Lemar interest and go for Mahrez.

2.) 14 Jul 2017 15:23:06
I think there is zero chance of them selling Lemar after they'll also be losing out on Bakayoko (Chelsea) and possibly Mendy (City) who has been left out of their pre-season squad. Great player though but sadly looks like we'll miss out, and he'll only get better next season - which'll draw the bigger birds of prey, making him one of those 'could've signed him' players.

3.) 14 Jul 2017 18:18:51
lemar will be in boys have faith. closer than they make out.

4.) 14 Jul 2017 18:35:37
Monaco playing hardball.

5.) 14 Jul 2017 19:03:07
PSG are playing softball while Lyon are playing rounders, it's all going batty in France right now Dags :-)

6.) 14 Jul 2017 19:37:46
You are talking a loads of balls mate 😊.

7.) 14 Jul 2017 20:36:11
Bats a bit harsh mate :-)

Gooners everywhere. Is it time to accept we are not going to do anymore transfer business bar Ox and Alexis going and just get behind the team? I check the reports every hour or so and nothing changes, think it's time to get behind the players and Le Prof and show the team we will support them this season despite having a hopes and dreams shattered.

paulb1966

1.) 30 Aug 2017 17:31:07
Yes we will just sit back take a big sigh and watch our club rot under it's owner and manager and do nothing but keep cheering come what may. Don't quite think fans will see it that way somehow.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 17:40:32
Le prof.
Le prof?
Really?
Whats he a professor in then?
What's the implication here?
Yeah your right i'm pissed off.
Le prof.
Jesus wept.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 17:46:34
have a feeling, we might replace ox with mahrez.

26 Aug 2017 16:38:51
Eds. Do you think we are possibly selling Mustafi with a new defender being lined up or sell and bring Chambers back in the first team?

paulb1966

{Ed002's Note - I would not necessarily say "lined up" but Chambers will stay to provide cover.}

24 Aug 2017 20:35:07
Any one else slightly confused with AW and his comment about Mustafi? Surely that proves he is going otherwise he would of denied the rumours.

paulb1966

1.) 24 Aug 2017 21:16:08
Hard proof that is 😂
Who knows mate.

2.) 25 Aug 2017 06:35:58
Absolutely and a report came out from Fox News that Arsenal are after Van Dijk. Fingers crossed, Van Dijk is just te type of tall athletic CB we have been crying out for.

15 Aug 2017 13:50:17
Ed . In your opinion are we going to sign any one else or is the focus now solely getting rid of the dead wood at the club?

paulb1966

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any "dead wood" - what a terrible thing to call players of the club you support.}

1.) 15 Aug 2017 15:38:37
Ok . Players who are now deemed surplus to requirements?

2.) 15 Aug 2017 18:43:29
In the words of ed002: "rtfp"

01 Aug 2017 10:32:28
Without getting too worked up, what do we all think is going to happen transfer wise over the next month?

I am hoping Lemar will come in perhaps a DM as well whilst keeping hold of Ozil Ox and for time being Alexis unless a huge big comes in for him other than Man City and we start the season running and get some confidence flowing.

paulb1966

1.) 01 Aug 2017 11:03:20
Myself I think we should be planning for next season already, concentrate on getting those who are good enough and committed signed up and those who aren't out.
Then build all we can this window plus January and next summer for a real crack at next seasons title.

2.) 01 Aug 2017 12:21:18
I'm concerned. We still have a lot of dead weight on the safe bill, haven't strength in the midfield, CB or ion goal. Most worrisome I think though is the situation with all the players whose contracts are ending. This will be a distraction.

3.) 01 Aug 2017 12:39:54
This season doesn't exactly have ' look out premier league here we come ' written all over it and even top 4 while not impossible looks extremely difficult.
Do what we can in the league go for all 3 cups big style while getting ourselves in much much better shape on and off the field for next season.
The worst thing we could possibly do is end up well out of contention for the title and top 4 plus disrespect the cups and worst of all have the same problems this time next summer as we do now off the field.
Let's do what we can now to make the future more exciting.

4.) 01 Aug 2017 14:22:12
We have to sort out the players with the contracts. Having these guys running down the contracts is pointless. If we have to sell at a knockdown price, or to another premiership team then so be it. Its what we deserve for letting them run down to this point. Why we didn't re-new them all last year, when they had 2 years remaining, and we had qualified for the CL is beyond me. What did we possibly think would be better a year later? It only says to me we wanted to save on the increased wages, whilst keeping other players on the wage bill who offer nothing to the team or squad. In fact when i put it like that, no wonder Sanchez wants to leave.

Ed. How likely is it we will pull this off and do you think it's what we need?

Paul.

{Ed001's Note - Wenger needs this deal, so I expect it to go through. He certainly adds something different.}
