Ross Barkley is definitely leaving Everton. Opinions on coming to us? Think he could do a job and perhaps do the Santi job that we have missed so badly?

1.) 26 Jul 2017 16:45:52
I'm not sure it would be a good fit at all, he's a talented boy no doubt about that but I think he needs to go somewhere where the expectations are extremely high from every player and if you don't work out your quickly shipped out, Chelsea Utd City maybe even Spurs but not us because we need more players who self motivate and set high standards of themselves like Sanchez not more players who are hit and miss.
He's an excellent prospect and we are a great club but together I don't think we would do each other any favours.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 18:58:38
I think he's over rated but that doesn't mean he can't be good. Like a lot of British players his first touch is poor.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 19:21:25
He's a bit like Jack for me when but without the injuries he's good he's very good but when he's not he's a passenger.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 19:24:32
Everton fan here and I personally think he would do well at you guys he needs to leave us as he needs to get away from his circle of friends also Steve. r not sure how much you have watched Ross but he has a fantastic first touch.

5.) 26 Jul 2017 20:19:00
He has the ability 79 mate but it's the attitude that's the question and if there is one thing we don't need right now simeone who has a? Over his attitude and commitment.

6.) 26 Jul 2017 20:34:41
He much better than jack wilshere I'd take him but it for 50m.

7.) 26 Jul 2017 21:03:14
Blimey, British players compared to foreigners are poor, that's why they are never nominated for the big awards and our teams are so average on international competition. Sorry I don't know any current English midfielder with a great touch.

8.) 26 Jul 2017 21:20:58
On the odd occasion when Jack is hot he can be outstandingly good but unfortunately even when fit this occasions are few and far between and becoming less bit more frequent with age.
Ross is a gamble we don't need to take right now.

9.) 26 Jul 2017 21:32:00
Gunner we definitely don't need him. He hasn't got the best teams in Europe after him, why? He's not that good, can't even get in England team.

10.) 26 Jul 2017 21:48:14
Gunner Jack was rated by a lot of people because he had that rare British talent, a first touch. Gaza is the only other recent one and that's why big foreign teams came sniffing.

11.) 26 Jul 2017 23:26:39
barkley to spurs is worlds best kept secret.

12.) 26 Jul 2017 23:27:43
Steve a lot of that to be fair is the money in the premier league, Gerrard Lamport and others would have moved abroad if the premier league wasn't so rich mate.

22 Jul 2017 11:15:47
Ed. Is there any chance of Sanchez to PSG?

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely.}

1.) 22 Jul 2017 11:45:14
Thanks for coming back Ed002. Do you think if a deal for Sanchez goes through it will be a straight cash deal or will PSG include some players in the transfer i. e. Aurier, Matuidi, Rabiot? Any response is appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - They may consider discussing players at the same time but Arsenal would have no interest in discussing players they are not looking to.}

2.) 22 Jul 2017 12:02:41
Thanks Ed, I thought we would have an interest in Matuidi but obviously not. PSG will have an incredible team if the manage to sign both Neymar and Sanchez.

{Ed002's Note - Sure but PSG has a lot of players they are moving on and if Arsenal agree to a discussion they will not want to complicate matters.}

3.) 22 Jul 2017 12:09:49
Ed not trying to push my luck here but while your available could I ask you if PSG securing Sanchez would in effect end their interest in Benzema and cut our competion for his signature down to just the Milan clubs? And do you think the lack of CL football would make Benzema less likely to consider us at all from what youv gathered? I know youv eluded to the fact that Real won't even consider his sale unless they secure Mbappe or Lewandowski but do you feel Benzema would be interested in joining Arsenal regardless as I find it a little bit of a stretch imagining he'd fancy the change of scenery.

{Ed002's Note - PSG want a "well known" French player and several fit the bill - MBappe, Benzema, Griezmann, etc.. Out of the options available and with other plans I suspect, with the baggage, KB is the least likely of these.}

4.) 22 Jul 2017 12:10:00
According to sky sports they will make a 35m bid next week. I hope we just laugh at them as we reject it. Last year in his contract or not I feel he's worth more.

5.) 22 Jul 2017 13:17:02
Ed002! Glad you're back!

6.) 22 Jul 2017 13:31:11
He's worth more to us. I feel he's going to stay.

7.) 22 Jul 2017 15:41:08
Anything around the 60Mill mark from PSG and would accept it tbh it is clear Sanchez wants to move on and being in his final year of his contract it is silly to lose out on such a fee and risk losing to a PL rival in City for free for the sake of one season when we are not in the Champions league anyway. I think keeping Shanchez against his wish will be bad for the team balance and I think he will get too greedy and selfish on the ball trying to sell himself too much.

8.) 22 Jul 2017 15:42:35
Sanchez or Ed002?

9.) 23 Jul 2017 00:27:30
id take krychowiak and cash.

14 Jul 2017 13:23:16
Ed's. Any news on Lemar or Mahrez? Things have gone quiet on this front?

{Ed001's Note - nothing has changed.}

1.) 14 Jul 2017 13:51:32
Monaco won't sell Lemar.
Roma are sniffing around Mahrez.

I think know we should drop the Lemar interest and go for Mahrez.

2.) 14 Jul 2017 15:23:06
I think there is zero chance of them selling Lemar after they'll also be losing out on Bakayoko (Chelsea) and possibly Mendy (City) who has been left out of their pre-season squad. Great player though but sadly looks like we'll miss out, and he'll only get better next season - which'll draw the bigger birds of prey, making him one of those 'could've signed him' players.

3.) 14 Jul 2017 18:18:51
lemar will be in boys have faith. closer than they make out.

4.) 14 Jul 2017 18:35:37
Monaco playing hardball.

5.) 14 Jul 2017 19:03:07
PSG are playing softball while Lyon are playing rounders, it's all going batty in France right now Dags :-)

6.) 14 Jul 2017 19:37:46
You are talking a loads of balls mate 😊.

7.) 14 Jul 2017 20:36:11
Bats a bit harsh mate :-)

02 Jul 2017 18:52:12
Reading that Ox has turned down the offer made to him, Ed's do you think this is the case or paper talk?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, it would seem the most likely judging by the way his agent operates though.}

1.) 03 Jul 2017 02:54:30
Good point ed001, I often forget he's represented by Ward. You'd think players would learn to stay away from him.

{Ed001's Note - he makes his players rich. You make it sound like they care about anything else!}

2.) 03 Jul 2017 05:13:57
Hah fair point. Look at his other clients though - Sterling and Berahino. Sterling has declined since leaving Anfield and Berahino is virtually nobody now.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, he is a terrible agent who puts short term monetary gain ahead of his client's long term career. He is amongst the worst of modern intermediaries.}

30 Jun 2017 18:31:24
Can you rumours be finally true about AL and the latest bid?

Fingers crossed this time Sky, the Daily Mirror might be right.

1.) 30 Jun 2017 20:32:20
I just can't get excited about this transfer. Yes his goal scoring record is great but he's second fiddle to Giroud in his national team for a reason. were supposedly looking for a more effective player than giroud right? . Like Sanchez a world class player isn't a bench warmer for his national team.

2.) 30 Jun 2017 20:51:19
Dechamps likes Giroud it's simple don't knock the guy at the time we bought Sanchez he was a bench warmer at Barca, maybe not Chile but they don't have the strength in depth as the French do we moan that we don't sign proven players and we moan when we try to?

3.) 30 Jun 2017 20:58:57
He is frozen out because the manager likes to play with a big man upfront otherwise he would play 100% he will be more effective in arsenals style of play then giroud is IMO.

4.) 30 Jun 2017 21:52:08
If we keep Ozil and sign Lacazete I can see him being deadly for us, he's more like an Ian Wright type player which would suit out style and Ozil will always have someone standing on the shoulder if the last defender ready to make the run.

5.) 30 Jun 2017 22:44:05
I'm with you coldice! And it's no shame to be a bench warmer at Barcelona but I personally don't think he's as good as giroud! Let's hope not. It stinks of a club who can't get a lewandowski or a aubameyang. But he is a different type of player and let's hope a change is as good as a rest 👍🏻.

6.) 30 Jun 2017 22:46:18
How can you not get excited about Lacazette?

I've got a party going on in my boxers just thinking about him in an Arsenal shirt.

7.) 30 Jun 2017 23:00:36
Dags were just excited to buy anyone and pay lots of money.

8.) 30 Jun 2017 23:29:25
the manager plays moussa sissoko and used to play sakho says it all. he will be a hit imo.

9.) 01 Jul 2017 01:36:53
I do agree with what a lot of you are saying. He's a great signing if it goes through. An awesome signing. But big clubs buy big names and I don't think he's a massive name. Put it this way, how many fans will have Lacaztte printed on their shirts? I know it's not about that, it's about results and I don't question he'll be a hit in this Arsenal team. Just be good to have a big profile signing, someone every fan regardless of what team they support know of them. We rarely buy profiles and when we do we can't keep hold of them.

10.) 01 Jul 2017 08:26:08
I think it's a gamble mate.

11.) 01 Jul 2017 09:15:37
I'm not convinced at all. He was rubbish in the emirates cup.

12.) 01 Jul 2017 18:03:31
Hes obviously a good player, how good, that's the question. He isn't a "winner" of the big trophies and that's a little worry. He isn't a regular at international level and he wasn't top scorer in his league. He doesn't dominate games, he's a goal scorer, is that enough, who knows.

Looking forward to the Emirates Cup this weekend and hopefully seeing Holding play. He looks the part already and could be the answer to our leaky defence.

1.) 26 Jul 2017 16:28:18
What Channel is it on anyone know.

25 Jul 2017 16:50:07
Is it time to accept we are not going to do any more significant signings and look forward to the new season and enjoy the up coming Emirates Cup, I know I will.

1.) 25 Jul 2017 17:22:42
Paul Paul Paul mate are you trying to out neg even me and zee Steve?
It's a bit early to throw in the towel just yet mate :-)
I'm not saying we're going to sign Mbappe or anyone who will shock the footballing world but I'm sure more new faces will arrive before the season kicks off Geeza.

2.) 25 Jul 2017 17:40:43
I think you and I are the positive posters on here gunner. Can't stand all this negativity.

3.) 25 Jul 2017 17:58:29
Gunner Thanks for bringing ing me back down to earth, just want our club to challenge for the league.

4.) 25 Jul 2017 18:51:16
Challenging for the league might be a bit away yet Paul mate but there are other prizes available in the mean time mate.
My advice for what it's worth is try to accept all we want might not happen short term and enjoy what is within our realistic grasp right now, the europa league is a European trophy and how long since we won one of those? If it's good enough for Utd and Chelsea it shouldn't be beneath us that's for sure.
If a surprise title challenge came out of nowhere none of us would complaint that's for sure but take it from me getting worked up about it not happening is a mugs game, trust me I've been a prize mug for years and since Arsene got his new contract I've accepted things aren't highly likely to change for the foreseeable future so it was time for me to change instead, and I'm much happier for doing so mate.
Give it go a go mate it really is in your interest Geeza and like I said the title is just 1 of 4 prizes up for grabs and the other 3 are doable possibly even 2 of the 3 in one season:-)

5.) 25 Jul 2017 19:07:18
Gunner. You are a wise Jedi.

6.) 25 Jul 2017 19:52:05
I hadn't always been Paul mate :-) but I'm trying to learn from my mistakes of the past, I haven't enjoyed our 3 cup win in recent seasons because I've allowed myself to be to frustrated by our total lack of premier league competitiveness so I've lost out all ways round which in my book makes me pretty stupid to myself.
Arsene's new contract in some ways gave me personally a new outlook on my own personal choices, I could spend the next 2 seasons (atleast) complaining about what we aren't but could be or I can just accept it is what is and little ol me and going to change it no matter how much I point out Arsene's failings.
I'd be over the moon with 5th to 7th place and the Europa league title next season mate, anything more would be icing on the cake for me personally.
I've gone from virtually impossible to please to pretty low maintenance, well low for me that is :-)

7.) 25 Jul 2017 20:09:02
Keep that up gunner and you will be invited to join the board of directors gunner. Lol.

8.) 25 Jul 2017 20:26:22
I wouldn't last long Steve mate, and neither would my new laid back approach :-)
I think it's best for them and me we agree to differ from a distance :-)

9.) 25 Jul 2017 21:42:54
title challange is too soon guys we are only 13 years into our project.
I think if he doesn't win it for another 10 he would still believe he's best guy for the job.

10.) 25 Jul 2017 22:55:27
Derby and so would some people. Dinosaurs are now with fossils in museums and at the moment there is one mising.

24 Jul 2017 21:07:26
Hope the news about the Eleny bid are untrue, would rather see Francis leave always think there's a sending off in him.

23 Jul 2017 16:34:00
I will no doubt get shot down with this post but how many other fans are sensing de ja vue going into the new season?

I know the transfer window is still open for another month but all the top 5 bar the spuds have spent and improved their squads while we have a freebie and Al at present with no sign of any other players and Alexis, Ozil and The Ox still not signing on. We fell short last year and it looks like we are going to go into the season with the majority of players who finished the season.

Let the abuse start.

1.) 23 Jul 2017 16:56:42
No doubt I will too. Why do you expect different when nothing has changed. It been said enough times, if things are the same (and they are) nothing will change. I don't expect any different next season because it's still the same.

2.) 23 Jul 2017 17:36:57
That's to be expected mate and to be fair you would be foolish to be optimistic . The lacazette signing didn't throw me like the Sanchez and ozil as they were already world class. If lewandowski or aubameyang was purchased instead I would have been more excited. But all we can do is see and still reserve my jusmdgement until the window closes.

3.) 23 Jul 2017 18:05:13
Glad its not just me, wanna believe with AW signing a new contact things might change but hey ho lol.

4.) 23 Jul 2017 18:13:58
What is different to last season is we are likely to be without 2 of our most consistent 3 outfield players in Caz and Sanchez leaving only Kos who is a year older and certainly coming to the end of his prime.
We currently have brought in 2 potentially decent additions who until premier league proven can only be potentially good signings like all new players.
I'd say if Sanchez leaves as is almost certain then currently we are weaker than last season when in the main we were a long way off good enough.

5.) 23 Jul 2017 18:30:11
with him in charge no chance of the title but it is what it is. I expected to be going into the season with allegri and usmanov. il continue to dream.

6.) 23 Jul 2017 18:23:38
I know I'm repeating myself but I am sure if we do lose Sanchez, we are in trouble.

7.) 23 Jul 2017 18:35:56
Unfortunately mate it's a product of what's gone on before as everyone has said, I'm certain even if we added Lemar and Goreztka there would still be an amount of trepidation.

For me with those two and keeping Sanchez there would be more than enough talent to win the league but it's then down to Wengers two most used words throughout the season, "Mental strength"

We finally get that right then we'll see a positive season.

8.) 23 Jul 2017 18:53:46
Agree Stoner a new mentality would be our absolute best signing but it ain't for sale and can only be achieved unfortunately.

9.) 23 Jul 2017 19:20:19
I don't want to judge too early as there is still time to improve the team, the two players stoner mentioned as well as keeping sanchez even if we lose him for free next year will be a massive improvement and a good year to look forward too.
However having said that if Wenger keep faith in the same players didn't live to thier potential which is more likely to happen we have a very frustrating season ahead.
I hope we are all proved wrong and we get rid of the dead wood including the ox if replaced by Mehriz or lemar.

10.) 23 Jul 2017 19:56:08
Agree with all the comments, let's hope we are all proved wrong.

11.) 23 Jul 2017 20:27:07
Personally and it's to each thier own but I have suspended my aspirations for us to be contenders for the foreseeable future.
Instead I've got my mind focused on what I think is achievable from our current set up rather than carry on getting wound up each season about things we should but simply don't achieve each season.
For me the 3 cups are within our range and Europa league qualification if we fail in that competition this season, more would be a very nice bonus but I'm not expecting or even thinking in terms of any kind of sustainable title for a while and for me that makes the season that much easier to cope with and enjoy. I've been driving my self nuts the last few seasons because we don't do all we could to be the best we can be and for now I'm happy to accept what is rather than worry about what could be or even should anymore.
It is what it at Arsenal right now and nothing is going to change that so I had to change my own mind set and aspirations for a while.

22 Jul 2017 16:53:32
Ed. If PSG come in with a money plus player bid, who in your opinion would be the player we should takeib exchange?

{Ed001's Note - Kurzawa maybe?}

1.) 22 Jul 2017 17:52:44
verrati but no chance.

2.) 22 Jul 2017 19:48:08
Pgs will try and exploit our position that's for sure.
