Mislintat leaving because of our financial position, seems like we are doomed.

sparky68

1.) 16 Jan 2019 01:58:48
Most reports say that he is leaving because he is not being allowed to grow his role into technical directorship, which Gazidis offered him on taking the job. Don't know where you got that other stuff but it sounds like nonsense.

2.) 16 Jan 2019 08:08:20
Emery makes the comment that we won't buy this window and the media make mischief, their job is to get hits and it's in our best interests to remember the media simply can't afford for there to be no news for an hour let alone a day or a week.
How would sky fill their 24 hour rolling news if they had to stay within the boundaries of the truth.
Rob Holding is injured and Theo Walcott has left Arsenal stories get 00 viewers or readers.

15 Jan 2019 20:34:21
Well according to Belgian media we have been offered Carrasco but can't afford him. Being reported on Sky Sports.

sparky68

03 Jan 2019 21:03:48
45mil plus bonuses offered for Pepe apparently.

sparky68

1.) 03 Jan 2019 21:17:59
Not sure forwards should be our immediate priority but looks a good prospect.

{Ed002's Note - He is a RW which Arsenal are looking for.}

2.) 03 Jan 2019 21:26:32
We don't have to many problems scoring compared to our woeful defence capability, i'd rather see us going after a LB and a CB.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained what is wanted.}

3.) 03 Jan 2019 21:33:01
Yes you did, that does not take anything away from the fact that we should be recruiting decent defenders as what we have are ageing and below par. Which is why i said i don't believe forwards are a priority right now.

4.) 03 Jan 2019 21:37:42
We need a winger desperately.

5.) 03 Jan 2019 21:41:36
What we need desperately is to stop shipping easy goals, we can't defend for rubbish.

6.) 03 Jan 2019 21:59:11
Ed002 I don’t think he was having a go at you mate just making a point we should be looking at more defenders.

7.) 04 Jan 2019 02:44:14
IMO we don't actually need a winger that badly. It would be welcome, obviously, but a CB (and getting rid of Mustafi ASAP) should be our top priority, before anything else.

Our best football has come when we've used the width of Kola and Bellerin as our wing play and covered for them with a back 3 and Xhaka/ Torreira. Actually finding a way to keep from shipping stupid goals would be great.

8.) 04 Jan 2019 16:42:32
I agree, our defense obviously needs work, but as Ed002 has previously explained, we have to ship out certain defenders before adding further recruitments.

We've been hit with a major injury crisis no doubt, and on the books we have in terms of CBs: Kos, Sokratis, Mustafi, Holding, and Mavropanos, with Chambers only out on loan.

If we get the chance to sign Pepe we should take it.

31 Jan 2018 19:01:58
Debuchy gone so a few more quid off the wage bill.

sparky68

31 Jan 2018 17:01:43
Chelski just confirmed Giroud i hear.

sparky68

1.) 31 Jan 2018 17:14:08
Gutted.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 17:14:26
Why did we sell to Chelsea.

3.) 31 Jan 2018 17:26:29
to sweeten the David Luiz deal?

4.) 31 Jan 2018 19:08:28
Rollercoaster of emotions today lads 😁🤯.

5.) 01 Feb 2018 01:36:22
My feeling is that Dortmund had settled on Bat Shoe Eye and would have essentially informed Arsenal and Chelsea to sort it out or there'd be no deal. Worked only because Giroud was Chelsea's best option IMO.

Just caught up with all the goals over Christmas, wish I had'nt bothered, that was scary to watch. You know something is wrong when even the likes of Fulham look like scoring whenever they break.
If we can't sort out this defence then forget Top 4, we will struggle for Europa.

sparky68

1.) 03 Jan 2019 07:55:45
The honeymoon is over and reality has landed.
The biggest criticism of Arsene was his inability and lack of willingness to sort out the defence and mentality of his players.
The mentality is better but the defence jusf as awful fragile and unorganised as ever.
Dick simply has to sort it to stop the pressure piling on himself and his team from fans and media alike.
Even before the injuries we looked well dodgy.

17 Jul 2018 06:45:58
Arsene has told a French Sports publication that he regrets staying at the one club for so long. Can see the Wenger out brigade having a field day!

sparky68

1.) 17 Jul 2018 07:35:12
Wenger is history, I'm really looking forward to the new season, to see how we now play under Emery and with 5 new players so far. I can also see see an end to keeping failing players at the club. 25 days to kick off!

2.) 17 Jul 2018 08:33:39
I think it's only natural that with time to reflect he should look back and think what might have been if he'd done things differently.
Arsene was to close to the woods to see the trees in the end and now he's had chance to think clearly he's thinking what if?
Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
Everyone looks back at less successful times and thinks and sees things differently to when their caught up in the moment.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 09:40:09
Wenger, very much yesterday's man, looks lost. He wasn't offered the managers job at PSG. With France winning the World Cup, Deschamps job looks secure for the foreseeable future. I can't see any top club offering Wenger the managers job.
Quite where he will fit in is a mystery. I appreciate his time at Arsenal, but bleating about the past is embarrassing.
Emery is so refreshing, although we must be patient whilst he upgrades the squad, giving it much needed balance, fitness, defensive awareness and tactics.
The final bit of business this summer will be to unload the 6 players mentioned, try to extend Ramsey's contract and bring in at least one more player, Nzonzi is my choice, A second if Ramsey leaves.

4.) 17 Jul 2018 10:08:16
I think he probably stayed about 10 years to long . Not sure if it was pride or stubborness that carried him through to the end.

5.) 17 Jul 2018 10:11:13
Hehehe :-)

6.) 17 Jul 2018 10:27:20
Hindsight is a wonderful thing 68 mate and Arsene is only human and once the dust is settled on a difficult time where things didn't work out as we wished for its easy to see where we might have been more wise.
Your right mate he did stay to long but I'm not sure if it was pride or stubbness but simply a case of being surrounded by people who constantly defended him and refused to see him held to account, pundits journalists fans you name it people qued up to defend him right up until the last season or two, it's got to be easy to lose your way when 50% think you can do no wrong while the other 50% think you've had it, who do you listen to? I guess we would all chose the compliments over the insults wouldn't we?

7.) 17 Jul 2018 17:36:14
Bleating? Really? So the man that GAVE 20+ years of his life to the club you claim to love can't have a thought?

What's embarrassing is some turnip pretending he's a jet-setter with a private plane, a super model wife, an economist of State as a father-in-law and to top it all off, an internet package that makes it look like he's in Blighty when he's really in Madrid.

What's embarrassing is your ability to repeat the same thing multiple times in the hope that someone on here will take you seriously.

First time in years that I am looking forward to a new season. The change of management has brought a whole new level of expectation and finally going after players and actually getting them. Top 4 will hopefully be a doddle but, I think we all expect more with these exciting new signings.

sparky68

1.) 09 Jul 2018 22:09:53
I'm not sure top 4 will be a doddle or even achieved next season but I'm genuinely excited about watching the team give their all in the pursuit of it and the possibility of prehaps more if all goes exceptionally well.
Tough to beat and no one's mugs again would be a great first season under Dick in my opinion.

2.) 09 Jul 2018 22:41:02
There’s no reason Arsenal can’t compete with United, Tottenham and Chelsea for third. To me Liverpool and City are a cut above the rest of the league but Arsenal absolutely have a shout at third.

3.) 10 Jul 2018 08:13:27
Let's hope so Q, it's certainly not beyond the realms of reasonable possibility like it was this time last year.
I'm expecting dramatic improvement in attitude and mentality in Dicks first season but accept it MIGHT take a couple of seasons to fully close the gap on the clubs you mentioned, hopefully not but if it does we have to be patient and as long as we are moving towards them rather than slipping further behind it will be a brilliant turnaround for season one.

20 Jan 2018 14:12:38
Dortmund confirm Arsenal offer, believed to be 44Mil.

sparky68

{Ed002's Note - Sorry but the offer is not on GBP. You need to ignore the money.}

1.) 20 Jan 2018 14:34:40
Forgetting actual amounts, what currency do offers get made? Is it the country that the player is currently at or does it vary?

{Ed002's Note - The offer will be in euros.}

2.) 20 Jan 2018 14:36:19
Each journo report I've seen says £44mil.

{Ed002's Note - Each one is wrong. Go you are easily led.}

16 Jan 2018 20:44:17
If we pull these signings off, aboombangbang, melcom and mkhitaryan, would that be enough in your eyes to save AW job? Personally i think its too little too late.

sparky68

{Ed002's Note - I would agree.}

1.) 16 Jan 2018 20:55:23
Whatever happens, I don't think he will get sacked.

If he wants to see out the remainder of his contract, he will.

I hope I'm wrong.

{Ed025's Note - i think it will be by mutual agreement dags..

2.) 16 Jan 2018 21:02:54
the job upstairs is awaiting him, he doesn't really have much to lose.

{Ed002's Note - What job?}

3.) 16 Jan 2018 21:03:46
I think the clock is counting down and we all know that only a certain number of events will save him. Not all these players are his choices that's obvious. He is approaching last chance saloon i think.

4.) 16 Jan 2018 21:03:33
The only way Wenger could save his job is to win the Europa league and Mickey Mouse cup, and that’s not personally that’s what I think would happen if he didn’t win anything and we are out of the top 4 I think he will walk.

5.) 16 Jan 2018 21:16:51
i'm not sure even that will save him even if by some miracle it happened. Watching us defend and watching Chec over the last couple of seasons we are in dire need of a refresh, new players, new ideas, new hope.

6.) 16 Jan 2018 21:18:52
We all know that what has gone on in the last few months would mean the sack at most top clubs. I can't believe he hasn't had conversations letting him know its not good enough. Whatever we think of mike dean as well, that is worrying what he did, not very professional.

7.) 16 Jan 2018 21:21:10
I pulled you up on this the other day steve! He’s not approaching anything he is on his back with his legs in the air whilst a dog pisses on his face. For someone who has beeen the herald of this black winter you sure are been generous to the old man.

8.) 16 Jan 2018 21:06:42
Heard he has a exec job lined up Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - Well, which job would that be?}

9.) 16 Jan 2018 21:30:04
no idea mate just a rumour that was doing the rounds.

10.) 16 Jan 2018 21:34:10
Ed025,
Agree mate. Plus, make sure you look after my boy Theo 😁.

{Ed025's Note - i will try dags, but if he does not perform he will get slaughtered like the rest of them mate..

11.) 16 Jan 2018 21:42:51
Sano you know me i ain't generous to him at all. Lol he should have gone a long while ago.

12.) 16 Jan 2018 21:45:35
Ive heard he's going as understudy to Charlie George.

13.) 16 Jan 2018 21:57:10
An exec job ed is where a person is paid his weight in chupa chips to watch young French kids play football.

14.) 16 Jan 2018 22:49:30
I have always wondered if he would end up staying in london or head back to france. still not sure.

15.) 17 Jan 2018 11:08:22
You don't give up a precious piece of property in Totteridge and Whetstone that easily DG. its like giving up the crown jewels! . I can see him becoming the manager of an international team in the future where he can still be based in London.

16.) 16 Jan 2018 22:58:35
Ed002 seeing as this topic was about arsene I was wondering what your opinion is on the job he is doing at arsenal and why his stature if that's the right word for it has declined so much in many of the fans views.

{Ed002's Note - He should have moved on a couple of years ago. I would think with the management changes that he will move on in the summer. I don't think his stature has declined at all - he has done what he sees as best for Arsenal.}

17.) 17 Jan 2018 12:40:25
In reply to sparkys original post, i don't think those signings would make 1 iota of difference as they wouldn't be Wengers signings, especially Auybamalangadingdong who he isn't interested in.

Cant argue with any of that mate, we need to build a team where players don't want to leave, its been too long since that was the case.

I get the whole "Get Ozil off the wage bill " thing but let's face it, he is still one of the best players in the world on his day and talent like that is not to readily available. So you take a massive hit on Ozil and buy what? Another player that could not get in at Barcelona or Citeh you then have their wages to find. Wish Dick would just swallow his pride and admit he is wrong about Ozil.

He was on a hiding to nothing taking over from Wenger and with a board reluctant to give him the funds he needs to rebuild. Give him 3 years and then make a judgement I reckon.

We have been operating like that for years Steve, constantly letting players go to rivals for below market value and getting shafted when going into the transfer market too late as was the Wenger way.

I can't argue with that mate, we are stuck in a loop of wanting top players but offering money that won't buy them. Look at the Suarez situation with 40mil plus 1, we make ourselves look desperate and clubs see it and rinse us. We have a squad mainly of players that were bought because they might turn out ok or worse because they were free.

There is a reason they are on a free and we have become a welcome home for average at best because of it. If the board have no drive for the club to compete at the top then it will continue until the revenue drops week in week out. Whilst they are selling over priced season tickets and charging crazy ticket prices that we are all paying they won't and have no reason to change.

Liverpool have spent over 130mil on a GK and CB alone that's without all the other players Ox etc.

Problem for Dick is he will not have the funds to see his vision through, does not matter who is in charge if you are not supported by the board then you have to make do with what you have. As much as i respect him and what he did not just for us but for English football, Wenger left us with an awful squad and Dick has to try and impress us all, not a job i'd fancy!
