Hi Ed, any truth that arsenal want Carlos Soler from Valencia?

{Ed002's Note - I have answered this before. "Carlos Soler (CM/RM) interest of Spurs and Manchester United has gone but Arsenal could give the player a move to the Premier League - if a reasonable fee could be agreed with Valencia."}

I searched in first but I didn’t find it- thanks still.

Honestly, I thought I had seen it previously, but when I searched yesterday, nothing came up.

Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - At least you know now Alex.}

Note to Arsenal, right club, wrong player. If you going to call Valencia the conversation should be about Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Hi Ed,

We’ve been linked with Odsonne Edouard as a replacement for PEA. Do you see us bringing in another forward? Thoughts on who it might be? Or will Martinelli simply be tipped to started next year?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal have looked at a few forwards and see Odsonne Edouard a cheaper option than perhaps bring Malen back or pressing for David. It also depends whether or not Nketiah interests the coach as an option. Alexandre Lacazette wanted a new start elsewhere but seems to have settled. Aubameyangadingdong will be off in all probability.}

Are we looking at Orkun Kokcu and Matty Longstaff Ed? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - (1) Orkun Kokcu (AM/CM) is Arsenal's first choice addition for the attacking role in midfield if they can move Mesut Oezil on. The player has been watched by PSG, Chelsea, Spurs, Barcelona, Sevilla but Arsenal are particularly keen. They want a reduction on the €20M asking price. (2) There is a lot of interest in ML but I am not aware of any approach from Arsenal.}

Sorry to bombard u with questions Ed but are man united interested in Aubameyang too?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for him.}

I think pea will stay.

24 Mar 2020 10:15:37
Hi Ed,

so you think Lacazette will stay and Auba will leave? That's annoying because would much prefer it the other way around! But guess Laca hasn't really been showing much worth over the course of the season in terms of goal output.

{Ed002's Note - Aubameyangadingdong does not wish to sign a new contract so Arsenal need to move him on this summer. Alexandre Lacazette wanted a new start elsewhere but seems to have settled.}

I love that we appear (at least) to be getting our replacement lined up now, not after the fact. Maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part.

Just thinking about the striker situation, Sako has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a LB but is happy playing fir the time being there. ED do you see him next season being pushed up? Seeing as you see Aubamyang being sold.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are going to do what the coach sees as the best way to utilise the players. If Kieran Tierney stays is fully fit it takes the pressure if Sako to provide cover as often as he has. And of course there is an "advisor" still pushing Arsenmal hard to take Layvin Kurzawa.

Hi Ed,

you say in the original response that Edouard is a cheaper alternative to Malen or David. How much do you think Celtic would sell him for? Because I've read a lot that David can go for ~£17.5m. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Gent has quoted a much higher fee than that to another side interested in JD. The €50M asking price for Malen is huge. Actually since Celtic quoted one side £30M for Odsonne Edouard and I wrote that note, another side have been quoted that bidding for the player will start at more than £50M as they accept that he will move on and .}

Jesus 50m for Odouard?! I can appreciate he's a very good player but given the calibre of the SPL I reckon teams would still be extremely hesitant paying even 30m.

{Ed002's Note - I would agree but they know it is inevitable he will move on and will look to get the best money they can.}

Hi Ed, any truth that arsenal are in for N'Dicka from Frankfurt?

{Ed002's Note - Evan N'dicka (CB/LB) has been scouted by a number of sides including Milan, Arsenal, Marseille, Sevilla, Valencia and Nice. It has been suggested that Milan would be open to an exchange for Andre Silva. Arsenal have certainly not approached his club as they will be no more than fishing just in case Pablo Mari does not work out and they really don't need any more CBs with Saliba returning. Marseille want to replace loanee Alvaro Gonzalez with a left footed CB. EF will not want to sell.}

22 Mar 2020 12:20:05
Thanks Ed, do you reckon we’ll keep Mari?

{Ed002's Note - Pablo Mari (CB) is a cheap and cheerful addition that Arsenal will probably look to take up the option to buy him. It saves the need for another CB to be added.}

Thanks Ed! We don’t even know if he’s good yet, he’s played one match!

{Ed002's Note - But there are other questions like is he a good fit. DL is a real nice guy who will look after him.}

Report that Real want £36m for Ceballos, should we sign him?

Interesting report we are interested in Denzel Dumfries at RB.

Not for me mate. Not a game changer, look at the impact Fernandes has had on Man Utd. I'd rather we return him and look elsewhere personally.

{Ed002's Note - Ceballos may well not be interested without some assurances - but there is nobody else showing an interest.}

Hi Ed, does Arteta have the final on transfers or does he take what he’s given? Also does he himself create a shortlist of players he wants or is the list created by those above and given to him?

{Ed002's Note - Neither, you have gone for two extremes. Players are identified by the scouting system and the enormous number of otherwise unemployable people in the ridiculous structure.}

Clearly Cellabos is a talented player but somethings not quite right for him at arsenal. Maybe it’s because he apparently wants to leave so he’s working hard to stay in the team, but where’s the enjoyment flair gone? A player like Partey would be better use of our funds I think and we have a lot of talented youth players that can fill in for Ozil. Not linked but I’d love to see Isco in the prem.
Penny for your thoughts Ed?

{Ed001's Note - neither Isco nor Ceballos are right for the Prem imo. Ceballos only bothers when he feels like it and Isco is the same.}

A bit light weight to be Vieira or Petit while likes too many
touches to be a creator of chances. Reminds me of a number of Arsenal midfielders where we would end up playing 3 in the middle and none specialist at anything

Huge gamble at 36m that makes no sense to me.

I think he is the best of our “creative” ball carrying midfielders, but then again maybe that’s not saying much. Would still prefer him to stay and let pretty much every other of our so called midfielders go. The main issue with Ceballos is he plays alongside other players who are the same. I would like to see him partner a proper defensive midfielder and then see how he plays.

Hi Ed, with PEA’s wage demands it seems likely he’ll go this summer. Can you comment on any prospective replacements (like Jonathan David) ?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is very early but Vinicius Jr (LW) It has not been working out well for the player in Spain and Wolves have shown an interest in him but he would only be a second string to Diego Jota - and the asking price (circa €60M - although they may accept less) is seen as high. Arsenal have been approached but with Saka emerging on the left it is the issue of Pepe on the right and Aubameyangadingdong in the centre or left that needs the most consideration - but he shares and agent with Martinelli so there may be a discussion. Chelsea have also been approached as he would provide an option to Hudson-Odoi on the left allowing Pulisic to move to his more natural right side. Others have been approached but none would be in a position to look for more than a loan and Real Madrid need players gone to continue their rebuild.
Aleksandr Sobolev (S) makes little sense.
Kevin Volland (S/W) BL did't want to sell in January but may in the summer.
Donyell Malen (F/W) rather raw Arsenal reject who has done well at PSV, is well liked if a little moody, but may not be able to make the step up. Rather unlikely if there is interest at the €50M asking price at all but Barcelona has asked about availability.
Jonathan David (AM/S/W) Gent youngster who has attracted plenty of scouts to watch him this season including those representing Lyon, RBS, Lille, Everton, RBL, Arsenal, Leicester and Lazio. Lyon are looking for a replacement for Moussa Dembele and RBL who are looking for a replacement for Timo Werner have both spoken with Genk who are open to the Canadian leaving at the right price. At the start of the season Napoli and Brighton attended matches to watch Roman Yaremchuk but were apparenty were also impressed by the performance and versatility of the player.}

Thanks Ed, do you expect Saka to sign a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - It depends if an acceptable offer is made - and if anyone of significance shows an interest. I would hope he would.}

But Ed actually, wouldn’t you say his career is best somewhere else? Arsenal is a beat right now and he’s a talent.

{Ed047's Note - unlike you maybe he likes the club and wants to stay here

{Ed047's Note - you’re talking like it’s fine for Saka to leave because we’re so bad. 🤦‍♂️

Saka has time on his side much like Rogers said to Sterling at Liverpool " the next contract will not be your most important contract "
For Auba it's the complete opposite as financially this will be his last big deal and ambition wise what he does next will decide if he is to have any chance of ever challenging for or winning a top prizes, obviously it's unlikely he will be able to achieve those things at Arsenal at his age and what left of his playing career.

26 Feb 2020 19:06:35
Heard today from a few reliable people that sakas new contract is almost sorted and signed.

26 Feb 2020 20:32:09
I'd have been well shocked if Saka had left 16 mate, I think Auba summed the popular media up brilliantly when he said " why do they speak about things they know nothing about "
Ever since Arteta was asked on Sunday how important Auba was it's been non stop from the tabloids claiming to have inside information about his future, Saka last week, Auba this week I'm Just waiting for the rumors to start about Martinelli wanting out because he's been left out for Eddie in the last 2 league games.

Aubameyang wants to leave Ed said.

26 Feb 2020 21:42:43
I didn't see him leaving to be honest but nevertheless delighted he looks set to sign. Auba I have no idea about and not heard anything. But really hope he stays.

26 Feb 2020 22:54:40
Hi DG I'm not saying he doesn't want to leave, he may well do but what I am saying is the papers are merely picking up on Artetta answers and making a story from them, something Auba confirms with " why do the speak about what THEY don't KNOW anything about "! The popular media are Just blaggers who are blagging 99.9999% of the time but every now and then like everyone else get something right by the law of averages.
It's good news about Saka 16 mate that's for sure mate.

27 Feb 2020 07:54:08
I hope that’s correct and Saka signs a long term deal. What a talent. I would like to see a few of our youngsters sign long term deals: Saka, Martinelli and Guendouzi for sure. I am intrigued to see how others develop: Saliba, Nketiah, Nelson, Smith-Rowe and John Jules.
In addition we have some superb talented players in their early twenties: Tierney, Holding and Pepe.

27 Feb 2020 09:00:03
I think it’s quite obvious and logical auba wanted to leave, but I also think a strong finish to the season and showing some conviction in getting players like Saka to renew will show direction and would give him something to think about at the least, we are improving under arteta and hopefully he will be a part of that.

 0 0

27 Feb 2020 11:07:14
I agree Marshall, giving players a reason to think next season will be better if they stick around is the key to keeping most players happy.
Auba is 29? He doesn't have forever left in the game so it's all about what he wants to achieve before he's past his best.
If he really wants a real chance of champions league or premier league medals then we can't realistically offer him either over the next 2 seasons or longer so it's in his interests to leave, if he wants superstar wages like some clubs pay those and shouldn't make the mistake of trying to again either so it's best he goes elsewhere if that was the case.
If he's happy to stick around on really excellent wages because he likes life at Arsenal and is prepared to help us be the best we can be then I'd be very very happy for him to stick around, but having said that do we actually need to start selling players while they havr real financial value rather than leave for free at some point?
It's a trickyone and maybe there is a case for cashing in on older players whole we can too.

Ed any truth in Partey link?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has not made any approach for Thomas Partey whohas been offered a new contract - but is awaiting clarification over another matter before signing.}
