Just wondering what the Eds views are on the Sesko situation/ rumours.
Been reading that he was close to signing then the fee was too high and I just read that his agent is asking for a Chelsea style contract of about 7/ 8 years and we are not prepared to offer that length of contract. Many thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure a club will know all of that from the outset, what the fee is, what the player wants, not months down the line.

The press just love to play around with stories, literally knowing nothing.

How many stories have they made up already about Sesko and Gyokeres, countless and they’ll just continue.

Ed, happy Friday. Are we looking to bring in competition for Ode? Are we looking at Bilal El Khannouss? Hope we get competition for Ode.

That season, apart from 3 goals scored he had better stats than the 2nd coming of our lord Jesus, or as he’s known on the Liverpool page, Florian Wirtz. 😂

That was his title winning season too.

But going back to Bilal El Khannouss, that really is anyone’s guess. One of the rumours said Arsenal are the closest to signing him, was that last week, this week, earlier on Thursday afternoon or as of 4pm today.

Nice to see you believing something else an ex pro has said, who hasn’t been at the club for donkeys and I’d very much doubt knows anyone in the know. 😉

True but I have a soft spot for O’Leary for one reason or another.

I need to stop that but I don’t see why the club wouldn’t back a striker signing and Arteta loves Kai for some reason so what Big Dave said seems highly likely. He probably has a little bitterness towards the club but I trust him more than Robson’s opinion.

Rumour circulating that Sesko wants a release clause adding to his Arsenal contract that would enable other teams to buy him for 20% more than Arsenal pay for him. So let's say we get him for 70mil, his release clause would be 84mil. This just feels like he's wanting to keep the door open for a move to a Barcelona or a Real in 4 years time. Doesn't sound like a cast-iron commitment to our club from the player. I understand it from a business and player perspective that this is smart for "him", but that doesn't roll well with the fans. We don't want a mercenary on our hands, we need a gut-busting winner with the Arsenal badge tattooed on his face.

Hey Ed, hope all is well. Constant chatter about Sesko or Gyokeres. Sesko sounds good and watching his highlights, looks promising however I've also seen his not so clinical moments and he does remind me a lot of Nunez at Liverpool. The fact neither are over the line for the sake of 5-15 mil in a position we so desperately need filling tells me neither are 100% convincing options. Especially when you compare them to the target we can't get Isak. My question is does the whispers of Julian Alvarez have any weight or is it just paper talk? For me personally, he's who I'd go above and beyond for. Would be an expensive complicated signing however one with minimal risk who is still only 25 years old. Thoughts.

There’s been constant chatter about strikers and until we buy one the merry go round of links will continue

Looks like the sporting president has gone back on his work about letting gyokeres leave for under his buy out clause, maybe that’s how we turned to sesko again.

I don't really know anything about Sesko mate but his goals per game record doesn't look all that, but if he joins us hopefully with good service that will improve dramatically 🤞.

Sesko is the one I want, I have watched quite a bit of him over the last 2 seasons and he is very impressive, he is only 22 and playing is a better league IMO than victor and also not playing for the top team in that league so his numbers are not going to compare to Victor's.

Solid in all departments, he has good pace and is a unit, also has a lot of similar qualities that Isak had before he came to the prem.

Both would be great, but I doubt that's a possibility, but I think we need 2, and a 22-year-old and a 27-year-old certainly fit the right age demographic, I think.

I think
Kai can then rotate with Ode
Merino can rotate with Rice
Partey can rotate with Zubamendi.

But also a lot of them can play other roles well

rice at 6
Havertz up top
party at RB - I know unpopular, but he does a job

Then a lW and I think that will hugely improve the first team and the depth.

Hope you are well. Thank you for the insight into the players however I have to take these three things with disbelief -

Kai can then rotate with Ode. - that would be a huge downgrade even when Ode isn’t in form. The real option to replace Ode is Nwaneri.
Merino can rotate with Rice - a serious downgrade as he just doesn’t have the engine or mobility to replace Rice or the leadership.
Partey can rotate with Zubamendi - fair enough.

Merino, Kai and Calafiori are part of a long list of signings that just aren’t quite good enough. What premiership side would they get into. Merino can do a job especially in Europe with Slower game or off the bench but he can’t be the engine room like Rice. May be with the right partner in midfield but he can’t do the same job as Rice. Just my thoughts

Am I completely off target? Where would you say I’m off?

Feck it let's pay whatever they want ( it’s called negotiating) and once we’ve paid too much whacked his wages through the roof and he’s not that great we can moan all season a bit like Kai perhaps? Also maybe that extra £10 mill might be the difference between getting say Garnacho ( NO! ) and Laeo. Cat the moment maybe we are choosing to slam the club and its transfer policy while knowing feck all! I apologise for language and trying not to labour the point 😉 COYG.

Sy I know we have a history of doing that, but I don't think that is the case with Sesko,

I believe he has a Movable (stupid idea) release clause, so I think the RB are chancing their arm a bit as they know we have chased for 2 years and now there is saudi money involved. I think we will get him for less than they are trying to say, as, according to all the reports, those have always been the figures talked about.

funny how Liverpool don't get the same criticism as arsenal for going in under a figure that the club wants. they are short of Wirtz asking price but have been largely applauded for making the offer.

Sorry Sussex - are you saying Kai was a good purchase or are you painfully using him as a good example of a great negotiation? A player Chelsea probably could not believe anyone would want, getting 65m for EHI. egiving him the highest wage at the club while not being a player we needed. Strange point.

So if a house is on the market - offers over 2m. You think offering 1.2m is reasonable if the 2m probably isn’t a million miles away. Have you ever negotiated anything? It’s a stupid way of pretending you are interested or missing out on players you want ( sound familiar ) or getting them so late thst they don’t do preseason training with the club.

I’m not saying don’t negotiate as I’m not stupid enough to think 5m saved won’t get us a Chelsea keeper. Give me a break mate - I’ve been around and got a bit of experience. Picking Kai as example is laughable.

Crap negotiation for a player who isn’t good enough and we don’t need. That signing encapsulates what’s wrong with our club for me. Hard work over goals and not paying more for what we really need. Perhaps buying a player who’s easy to manage rather than a difficult winner who will be ruthless in front of goal but may be not track back. Was Wrighty a good defender or a good goal order. Or Anelka…. Neither of which we would sign as they like to score rather than defend.
