Higuain to Arsenal is off, that's why we are looking at other players, the Arsenal bid for Saurez was a desperate move to tempt Real Madrid into bidding (which has worked) They did this to distract Madrid's attention from their moved for Gareth Bale, for whom they have offered cash and you guessed it. Gonzalo Higuain! expect Khedira to be involved also

Believable29 Unbelievable66

Higuain and Sami khedira would have to also agree with the move which is unlikely.

Agree1 Disagree1

Why is all the negative stuff so believable?
bale just took pictures in for their new hp sauce kit. yea I guess they could give them higuain now and get bale later, but why would you do that? just to spite a rival team, higuain has played at the top level, so why sacrifice that for a team based around one player who will leave and then just end up with a building team again.

Agree3 Disagree0

Maybe, maybe not. I honestly don't think bale will leave this season, his agent has said as much.

I know that might not mean much these days, but I actually think he will stay 1 more season.

But, if so, then wenger needs a new target asap- cause the bale deal could go on for a weeks and why should we wait while RM, say well perhaps you can have him and stalling.

On the other hand it could all be a lot of old bollox, like most of the info these pages.

I keep an open mind.

khedira and higuain wants to play champions league, not europa league

Agree4 Disagree0

Yeap, Madrid wants Gareth Bale and they have been dangling Higuain (and probably Khediera now) plus 50million?

Arsenal have only dealt with Higuain's agent/father and haven't made an offer as confirmed by Madrid.

Problem is Higuain wants UCL football so spurs and liverpool are mostly out.

Arsenal wants to jack up the price on Suarez, and putting Madrid in a bind.

Arsenal are in better position to get Higuain now methinks at their price

Agree3 Disagree0

Wow these things take time. You see teams like spurs and man city buying players because they are DESPERATE and arsenal are not, so can everyone please calm the bloody H-E double hockey sticks down arsenall will make decent signings but in their own time, some may call it wenger time. FYI I'm a Fulham fan but I really like arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Higuain & Khedira may want Champions League football but let's be real, it may only be 1 more season until they get it. The gap is closing & not looking like we're going to be much stronger going into the new season

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute rubbish. madrid aren't chasing bale anymore as ronaldo is staying. madrid know higuain wants arsenal, he wants champs league. stop making up rumours

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2013 10:11:30
both wouldn't move to tottenham. I mean you say they may get champs league next year but at the end of the day we have consistently achieved champs league football for over 15 years it's just got harder recently as there are more teams challenging, but still think we will get it next year even with our current squad.

can't see higuian agreeing terms with tottenham because that's what he wants.
also when was the last player plus cash transfer? it rarely happens and never happens with big players anymore as it devalues them.

bale won't go this season, his linked for a move to real every season and unfortunately for us he loves spurs, though saying that I do think he will go next year, just vb talked to stay for at least one more year.

to sum up its just another bs rumour from twitter

benjamin gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal might not be desperate but therein lies the problem.

I, for one, AM desperate and I KNOW I am not alone.

I am DESPERATE to see more world class quality in an Arsenal shirt again.

I am DESPERATE to win something, and not just anything (like the miserable cup we lost to Birmingham anyway), something of merit.

Mostly, I am DESPERATE to understand how we have not yet tied up deals for Higuain, Fellaini and Cesar at the very LEAST!

All are available at the right price.

Now, I'm not ITK or anything and have absolutely NO clue about how these things work behind closed doors, but if much of the speculation is true then I cannot understand why we do not throw a couple extra £M's at RM, QPR Everton, and the players too if need be, because they're all just about worth it whilst our NEED to sign them far exceeds our need to see good value.

Chasing "good value" has been the most costly exercise of our club in the last few years anyway; Squillaci, Chamakh, Bendtner, Santos, Gerviniho. do I need to go on?

There are others. some were overpriced, some where overpaid, some were BOTH. Their numbers do add up to a massive financial burden which has hindered us greatly.

I can't tell you how happy I am that we have Sanogo and I'm very excited about Bellarini getting a long term deal and us being linked so strongly with Serge Aurier - who couldn't be more keen on Arsenal, but we need top drawer players NOW.

I try to remain as positive as I can, I love the club and I love Arsene Wenger (warts n' all) but when you buy a season ticket every year and go through financial hardship to contribute to one of the most financially successful football clubs in world football - forgive me for wanting to see quality on the pitch and trophies in the cabinet.

Rant over.

No offence to anyone else - everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if it were true, Higuain is worth 25.5 mill and I can assume Khedira would be abotu the same. so 50 mill for the two and 30mill for bale if we take it as a 80 mill transfer?

will tottenham do that deal?

Spurs would want 80 million so they could buy who they want not take 50 mill in players Madrid don't want.

saying that the players also have to agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ the last post
in truth the gap is what it has been for the last 6-7 years. the spud's very best pl result, ever, still wasn't good enough to pass us at our fairly mediocre norm. we had no rvp they had monkey boy in the form of his life. with a fit jw10 and a bit of beefing up of the spine of the team, giroud now knowing what ti's all about etc. etc. what's to say they won't be left trailing us again?

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain wouldn't go spurs - no champs league.

Agree0 Disagree0

They all claim to want Champions League but I bet a nice big wage packet may sway certain players to miss out for a season or 2. Money talks

Got some news.

Arsenal will loan Sanogo to Villa as a replace for Benteke, who is Chelsea bond. With this agreement Villa have promised not to sell Benteke to The spurs and to take as much money off Chelsea they can.

D10

Believable15 Unbelievable75

Yeah, I doubt that.

Agree3 Disagree0

Sounds like a conspiracy theory - absolute garbage.

Agree3 Disagree0

There are fans thoughts/fantasises not the thoughts of football clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

The way our bid for Higuian is going, Sanogo may be our main striker soon!

Agree2 Disagree0

We could (but won't) send Sanago on loan to Villa. However, they're never going to make an agreement to ONLY sell him to Chelsea. Especially if the player refuses which (judging from recent quotes from his agent) he said he'd rather play for a Belgian amatuer team in the seventh division than play for Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh god did I really just read that
it is by far the most ridiculous thing I have read

watford gooner

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes, because that's how football works.

Agree0 Disagree0

As ridiculous as this is, I would love to see Sanogo get out on loan somewhere because I think he would pull a blinder - he could do us many a favour against teams around us too.

I'm hoping we bring in enough quality wherby he will get very rare opportunities in the first team so let's send him somewhere - like Palace or Bolton and see what he does with a proper run out.

20+ would not shock me - Ba and Benteke did it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have given Benteke till 7th August to engineer a move or he'll have to say sorry to Lambert directly OR he'll be training with the reserves.
he said he supports Arsenal - then why is he trying to engineer a move to Spurs!

Flamini lookin to return to the prem. How bout landing him?

Believable6 Unbelievable69

No thanks he's not even that good anymore he had his chance
Imranredmam

Agree3 Disagree0

Good call

1) he wants to return to PL
2) former player
3) wants to win trophies.

oh well 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO not good enough plus I never forgave him when we let diarra go because we were commited to him even though he ended up leaving us.

Agree3 Disagree0

A good idea, had arguably his best season with a. c. last season, and a former player. him and cesc looked like they were gona form an almighty partnership. shame cesc has gone. bit old now tho

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2013 21:55:58
Bit old? Isn't he 29 years old, I could be wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

A would land a kick right in his face he choose money over anything else he's not what we need at ar club thanx very much

Agree0 Disagree0

He never chose money over the club. He was a great player but wenger used him as a multi sub for several positions. In midfield and even defence. So he never established himself in the team and therefore people thought he was crap when really he was mustard. Another great player we lost because wenger never treated them right.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2013 08:08:53
Never forgiven him!? From what I can recall, he push Wenger and the board to give him a new contract, and had been played all over the field, mainly left back, he was told that he needed to prove himself before he would get a new contract in his final year, and low and behold, he has his best season in the DMF position, which in turn allowed Cesc to do his stuff, and you are surprised when he went to Milan!

Agree0 Disagree0

That old footballers trick of playing out of your skin for one year to get a good contract.

He was average the whole time he was with us except for his last year when he was arguably our most important player.

Has returned to average ever since.

No thanks mate. Good luck to ya. On you go.

Looks like Real have taken the bait for Luis Suarez. I'f this happens Higs will be on his way.

Believable25 Unbelievable33

10 Jul 2013 17:08:35
I am told the following things:

1. Wenger wants a proven premier league striker, hence the links to Rooney and Saurez. Higuain is a back up if we do not get one of the preferred two hence the delay.
2. Cesc has not made up his mind on a move and if he moves he will come to us, Fellaini is back up for Cesc, if he does not come then we go for the belgian.

SM

Believable23 Unbelievable54

Take what you get. rooney and his wages are out of our scope. so is suarez.

if we were really interested we would have raised the bid to 40mill and shown that we mean business. not 5 mill and get that rejected too.

unless once again the papers are making up crap.

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone believes what they read in the papers! I know it's easier to believe what we want to be true, but please actually use your brain instead of your heart in future

Agree1 Disagree0

So says the mug reading a rumour website.

Agree2 Disagree0

And cesc is definitely not coming.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is nothing definite about Cesc at all just yet, it is still 50/50 and people well connected are seeming quite confident.

Agree1 Disagree0

No club would open with a 40m bid. madrid, barca, united etc would have all started at 30m, then work towards a compromise. I thought this was all made up by journos, but seems legit. strange one. if we get him there will be a lot of annoyed scousers. sign him up!

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2013 16:40:14
Arsenal to sign Julio Cesar for an undisclosed fee.

Higuain deal a non starter. Man City see him as back up should Alvaro Negredo bid fail.

No word on Fellaini, unlikely to be any deal in place.

Unlikely any signings will be made/announced until after Asia Tour.

Wouldn't worry to much, Manchester United have yet to dip into the market. City and Chelsea have the greater pressure to buy big and buy fast. -

Believable16 Unbelievable33

I would absolutely worry! man united have actually bought a right back already and they are not under the same pressure to spend as we are. they won the league and have the best striker in the league - kindly donated by us.
moyes will buy again. city have already bought navas and fernandinho and chelsea will get whoever the hell they want

Agree1 Disagree1

From the list you've provided, we finished below all of them.

The pressure for us to strengthen is MUCH higher

Paul

Agree1 Disagree0

Why is Higuain a non starter?

Because he is a back-up option in case city don't get negredo?

So Higuain/RM is going to hang around in case the negredo deal falls through? Well that's very nice of them (I am being just a tad sarcastic).

arsenal make it a starter by getting the deal done asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

The difference being is that finishing 4th in the top four is acceptable to the board. Not winning ANYTHING for 8+ years is acceptable. Sorry but to me, that indicates less pressure. If Man City or Chelsea don't perform well, their managers WILL get the sack before the seasons' out. It's different with Man U, Fergie hand picked Moyes and he will be given time. It's not like Man U have had 100 managers in the past 20 odd years.

Anyway, Higuain is a non starter (as in it won't happen) because. if we were signing him we would have had it wrapped up straight away. Think back to our deals last summer. All done early. In all likelihood, Arsenal will not bring in any big names and then panic buy at ten to midnight (Mert, Santos)

All this talk is just fantasy, don't get me wrong I'd love it to be true. The only thing that can be said for certain is that either A) Arsenal's negotations team are just amatuer or B) Arsenal's negotations team are not in negotiations with anyone right now.

justagooner

Agree1 Disagree0

This is a good posting - I was wondering why we didn't sign anyone on July 1st but, what's the hurry? The pre season tour is not the Champions League, it's a trip to wave the flag and play opposition that we are expected to beat.
If it gets to August 16th we've signed no-one of note then I'll worry.
I've got £15 at 11/1 for AFC as PL champions - rock on.

Arsenal to submit a 35 Mil offer to Liverpool for unsettled striker Luis Suarez

Arsenalboii39

Believable31 Unbelievable36

My relative is an arsenal legend who does tours and match days and a massive gossip! He claims that arsenal believe they can get Suarez for £33 m headline fee with some add ons to show fans and other transfer targets our intent.

Agree0 Disagree1

So. we wouldn't pay 25.5 mil for Higuain as demanded by Real but we're willing to spend 35 mil on Suarez instead?

Agree1 Disagree0

Agreed, makes no sense, with saurez you asking for trouble.

Arsenal are closing in on a £4 million move for Gareth Barry from Manchester City.

Believable19 Unbelievable49

No- this is a wind-up.

I am not one usually to react- but I will throw my the toys out of pram if this happens!

Agree4 Disagree0

Please no! Waste of money Wenger should use that cash to make sure we get the Hig!

Agree2 Disagree0

The thing is though if he comes into the squad and does a great job in mid, a playerfor squad depth?, no one will be slating him
we should judge every signing at the next transfer window
+ve attitudes come onnnn

PdotY

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone at the club thinks this is a good deal then I am going to give up following football and learn how to crochet

Agree2 Disagree0

Not sure if I like the idea of this. As a squad player maybe. Experienced and won things. What we need. But still much better options out there. Very unlike arsene if true

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be genuinely disgusted if we buy this waste of space. he is a shocking footballer. we would be not better off than if we had kept denilson. buying Barry would provoke outrage after all the crap IG souted about spending big money

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2013 17:47:39
i would be just as unhappy if he did a good job as he is 32. You want people who have time ahead of them doing well not on their way out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Holy crap. If AW thinks we need a journeyman midfielder, I despair

Agree0 Disagree0

Where has this rumour come from? Barry is average squad player at best? Havent we enough of them. Whether back up or not would still demand £80k p/w which would be better spent elsewhere.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe we have shifted too much dead weight and wenger just can't handle it lol

Agree1 Disagree0

What dimension will this guy add? We have players of that mould just better, we need physical presence, power and pace not a guy who looks like he is towing a caravan.

Just read it on a certain website that I shall not mention.

Arsenal make an offer for Edinson Cavani, the offer to be consist of Cash + Player deal (Theo).

The majority of fans will be aware that Rafael Benitez is a huge fan of the player and sees him as an ideal addition to his team.

Arsene Wenger has decided to play Cavani with Suarez up front and believes that they will be untouchable and therefore thinks the investment will be immediate.

BTW, Its easy to write crap.

just read something very interesting from Ed002 on the real madrid rumours page (http://www.realmadridrumours.co.uk). if we end up with them both. this will be absolutely massive! also explains the suarez bid

crawf

Believable9 Unbelievable30

What did you read? Didn't see much on there

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't get all this Suarez stuff, yes he is talented, but he is a liability. a massive one. He is facing a 10 match ban ffs! Not to mention the race row stuff. It just wouldn't look good for the global brand image AFC are building or for the clubs reputation (its alright for Liverpool, they are pretty much over), think about it.

It's more likely that Arsenal just made an enquiry, "is he for sale etc", for purely tactical reasons and to provoke Real.

there's nothing on there to suggest that, just Ed002 saying it will become clearer in the coming days

Agree0 Disagree0

Check the questions page. Was ed01's response. Out of date but seems really relevant now. Especially as we are probably selling Gervinho, they have bought Isco and trying to keep Utd off precious Ronaldo. If you imagine the situation and the hurdles both clubs would be facing can really make sense of the Suarez and possibly Fellaini bids.

Just image if it happened. Get these 2 + current squad = world domination. and in the old invincibles colours too!

Awesome to imagine

Yup also have no idea what you are referring too.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the rumour is the Khedira one. I have said elsewhere for a while that it wouldn't surprise me if Wenger went to Madrid and came back with a player other than or along side Higuain. Malaga mentioned Ramos months ago I think, perhaps after the 2011 rumours, but it would make sense if it were Khedira.

A second bid for Suarez will be made, it seems that Arsenal ARE genuinely interested in signing him, and it was not a ploy to push Madrid along re: Higuain

Very, very interesting!

Believable47 Unbelievable45

This is ALL very likely a typical bulls**t Arsenal campaign to ensure season tickets all re-signed up and will increase sales of the new shirt. I went to 99% of home games for 15 yrs and gave my season ticket up 2 yrs ago as I was fed up with the transfer policy! I know there's a waiting list for season tickets and no shortage of people to fill up the ground but its all PR. I know what i'm talking about not because I know someone, but because I know Arsenal and noticed the transfer rumours fizzle in every year as renewal date approached for tickets snd a shirt realease! I can see Benteke being our biggest signing sadly no ambition as we split hairs over a few million with clubs over great players all the time (we dance with the girl and never take her home!)
PLEASE PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG THIS YEAR!

Agree4 Disagree0

I would be happy with benteke and giroud up front!

Also need a dcm!

Agree1 Disagree1

Totally agree I giving mine up this year fed up with being taken for a mug

Agree0 Disagree0

It appears that real madrid have made an offer for suarez in the region of £40mil, we could finally get the player we have been after, by that I mean higuin

Agree0 Disagree0

Indykaila rumours are not serious

Agree0 Disagree0

How much did we bid and where did you hear this?

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree. its very frustrating, if our only signing is sanogo then nothing has changed, french league two player, under half a million pound.

spurs have already had a better window then us. this is wengers chance to take the league back with all the managerial changes, and the apparent 70 million to spend.

i doubt we will buy any big players now, especially as today is arsenal's last training session before we fly to asia. very depressing and ominous season to come

Agree0 Disagree0

It does seem a little strange that arsenal put in a bid for him made public where-as normally all business is done under wraps for arsenal. let's be honest this works for arsenal and liverpool arsenal get their long standing target higuain and liverpool get their money so the can have more time to buy players. I honestly think this is just a ruse that will be played out by both clubs I would expect a second bid just to tip madrid into action.

dave

Agree0 Disagree0

It always amazes me that people moan and criticise arsenals transfer policy over recent years. Let me put it to you this way. If you'd just moved into a mansion and your mortgage and shot up by an extra few thousand pounds per month, you wouldn't be able to afford nice holidays at the luxury five star resort. Instead you may have to go for a 4 star. Get it? I'm sure now we have the funds we will make the purchases. Wenger has been and will continue to be an unbelievable manager, he has totally secured arsenals future by moving to the new stadium, and been totally unselfish as he could have stayed at Highbury with a bigger transfer budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool won't sell for less than £40 million and Arsenal won't spend that kind of money on one player so it's just a pointless exercise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow. loyal supporter.

Yep let's under bid stir up a frenzy sell some tickets then say we tried are best but nobody wants to sell therw best players

@first reply:
there are still 54 days left in the transfer window. I understand your frustration and am in no way defending the below par signings that have been made in the last few seasons, but these supposed big deals take time. the clubs we are supposedly targeting know that we have a bank full of money and are going to try and milk every ounce of it out from us. whilst we do clearly have more financial power than before, we still cannot go around throwing money at clubs in the same way as city and chelsea.

it might seem like we are dilly dallying about, but the club is definitely working hard to bring in the signings we are asking for. they know it is a make or break season for the board and wenger himself.

if in 54 days time we haven't signed any players of significant quality that will genuinely improve the team and our chances of winning a trophy, then I will re-evaluate my own standing with regards to wenger and the club's ambition. but that's 54 days away.

have some patience!

Bravo, at last somewone else who can see further than the tip of their noses, arsene wenger has done an amazing job with arsenal and the move to the emirates. It won't be long until other english top teams including the spurs down the road a liverpool need new stadiums and they are going to struggle a lot more than we have. Arsene wengers magic he wears a magic hat and when he saw the premier league he said i'm having that. In arsene we trust!
