Arsenal are set to sign a young 17 year old french CAM named Kevin Lebrat, he was scouted at a school match and is now wanted by many clubs in Europe. Maybe some good news? Ever heard of him ED?

{Ed022's Note - Honestly, no. I don't usually scout french school matches...}

Believable21 Unbelievable9

Yeah I've seen the name before he's lived in England for most of his life so he's homegrown as well

If you go onto Arsenal's online store and shirts. Now when you get a players number on the back, szcesny is listed as number 13 instead of number 53 so it looks like he's had a number change. I'd have expected him to have taken number 1 when Almunia leaves. Your thoughts Ed?

{Ed022's Note - I reckon AW won't want to put more unwanted pressure on young Wojcech's shoulders by giving him the "Number 1" jersey. That will go to Fabianski I reckon as he is the older of the two. Shezza will be 13 and Mannone will probably stick with 24. Personally though I think pre-season will determine who will start as number 1 in terms of playing.}

Believable14 Unbelievable3

I would say WS is a certainty at being first choice next year, he has a greater presence than Fabinaski and is 10 times more confident and equally talented in terms of reflexes if not better he is one for the present and the future.

{Ed022's Note - I would agree with the above. I think a good pre-season will cement his place. I just hope there's more Man Utd moments rather than Birmingham Carling Cup moments next season...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't put too much weight on the change in the club store, you can still get a Gilbert 38 shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they can't give him the No. 1 shirt until we have offloaded Almunia and it was easier/better to give him 13 for the tour rather than the 53 he had last season. Might be wrong but just a thought. I fully expect Shezza to be first choice for the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Great idea to give a keeper number 13

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently the 13 is temporary and he will be offered no. 1 when almunia leaves, which is why there has been no big announcement

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 22:11:14
we need a keeper, centre half , left full back , and forward or its 4-5th for next season mainly gk needed whats wrong with shay given and wenger we needed a keeper since the crazy german, fergie bought evsarr in late in his career??

Believable7 Unbelievable11

No we don't need a keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate did you miss last season? We don't need another keeper. Szczez is the next big thing, Fabianski put in some heroic performances last season, and Mannone is improving all the time. We really need a strong left back, or if Verm goes there then 2 central defenders, one world class mid, and one world class striker to go with Gerv.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Gervinho is a winger, did you make your opinion of gervinho off the back of football manager or fifa ? try watching last seasons matches with lille. he is a winger. get that into your thick head.

Agree0 Disagree0

ARE YOU STUPID gervinho will be a massive flop and the days of keep waiting for these youngsters is becoming boring, young keepers just dont cut it at the top just looking at premier league winners a majority have a steady no1 and some steel in the middle of the park WHICH WE JUST DONT HAVE

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 21:46:20
Yeah we are all down about it at the moment but i think things are moving behind closed doors.....it might be just one transfer in or out of a club that will set the wheels in motion for 3 or 4 signings....i do think nasri is going to city, and so does fergy...red faced tosser

{Ed022's Note - There is always movement behind closed doors but most Gooners, myself included are impatient! Especially when we do make a signing (Gervinho) barely anything is said!}

Believable11 Unbelievable5

12 Jul 2011 21:39:19
Arsenal will make shock signings of hulk and phillip lahm or aly cissokho and finally fernando llorente

{Ed022's Note - I will be very surprised if one of these players signed let alone 3 or 4.}

Believable5 Unbelievable32

Another person on this site who plays football manager-
what's all this about lahm? he's a fullback...sagna he is good, wenger said already no left back to be signed- it's all fantasy nonsense

2011/2012 Arsenal XI
--------szczesny------------
sagna--cahill--vermaelan--gibbs
-----wilshere---song--------
walcott---nasri----arshavin
------------van persie----------

bench: fabianski, koscielny, eboue, ramsey, rosicky, chamakh, gervinho, diaby

players who are going to break into the season this year: lansbury, coquelin, jenkinson, frimpong, bartley

bought: cahill, gervinho, youngsters
sold: squillaci, almunia, fabregas, clichy, bendtner, denilson

{Ed022's Note - So you're saying we'd make 2 signings. Would you feel that would be enough?}

Believable9 Unbelievable14

No of course its not enough, but its Arsene Wenger doing the deals so 2 would be a pleasant surprise. Gibbs @ left back next season is just doing my head in thinking about it - the guy will get embaressed. If people think clichy was a poor left back defensively, then just watch Gibbs.

{Ed022's Note - I think thats a bit harsh on KG. Although I have always said I would like us to get another LB in. I feel Gibbs has all the qualities to succeed but don't feel he's ready yet.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, harsh on Gibbs - he may be small but he gets forward better than Clichy, he skins defenders, and where Clichy was going backward Gibbs is going forwards. He is perhaps too small, and deffo not the finished article, but we could do worse than Gibbs. Ideally a new LB but give him some credit.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is what i believe will be the team not what i want. this squad is very realistic

{Ed022's Note - You honestly think that Wenger will only sign Jenkinson, Gervinho and Cahill? What would other Arsenal fans think to those transfers being the only ones? I personally would be a bit deflated.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Very realistic but you can take almunia and bentner out and gervinho starting instead of arshavin.

{Ed022's Note - The original poster did say that Almunia and Bendtner (amongst others) would be sold!}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Probably the most realistic and honest post ive seen on here. I don't think only two signings will be enough but it has got wenger written all over it Develop and promote rather than spending Although I do hope he changes his approach and we bring in some solidarity and leadrer ship at the back and a proven goal scorer up front

Agree0 Disagree0

Bang on, i have thought this all along. as you say, i will be gutted to only see 1 more come in, but wenger's "1 or 2 more" speech clearly indicates such (lack of) activity. only expect more than 1 CB if a few more 1st team starters leave, or if AW happens to strike up an absolute bargain deal for a CF.

Wenger will always buy more to suit the club's finances and philosophy than to excite the fans or immediately win trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately with that team we will be lucky of a top six spot. What has happened to the big clear out, so many of last seasons squad are just not good enough to wear the shirt. How can Wenger say that this is the best ever squad he has had. Just looked thru a fanzine from 2003 and seen some of the names from then, Seaman in goal, Lauren at r/b, Keown and Cambell at c/b, Cole at l/b. Parlour, Vieria, Edu & Ljungberg in m/f, with Henry & Wiltord / Bergkamp up front. Todays team does not match up, we have gone only one way in the intervening years, and sadly i cannot see it getting better under' judge me in May' Wenger

Agree0 Disagree0

What I'd love to see would be:
Given brought in for 3 million.
Use bentdner and a few million for either hummels or subotic.
Buy Vertongen from Ajax, and if Cesc or Nasri leave use the money to buy one of Gourcuff or Snjeider or both.
and get benzema at all costs.

pipe dream i know but we have the cash so why not.

come on Wenger get yer cheque book out.

If we don't lose anyone and add a defender, we're the team to beat in the EPL. We proved our dominance against the top 4 last year. The added depth should see us fend off the lesser opponents who give us trouble.

I see City and Chelsea as our main competition. Liverpool will be very good. United could have a regrouping year. They still need a creative central mid badly.

On another note, watching replays the last 2 months, I can confidently say refereeing errors are the only reason we're as bitter as we are right now.

No one lost more decisions than we did. Some decisions were downright pathetic. Looking back in a more neutral light now, the decisions are even more awful. FA needs some serious refereeing reform. Last season referees decided the league ultimately, and that's bulls**t.

US Gooner

Believable12 Unbelievable14

Keep dreaming mate you need about 5 top quality players to come into the starting 11 and all 5 need to settle in quick if you are to have any chance. you need gk cb lb rw dmf and a proper st. theres no chance wenger will buy big hes too arugent to realise he wont win anything with kids. you wont win anything until wenger is gone. i think you'll prob be fighting spurs for 5th place behind chelsea man utd man city n liverpool. you could get £50 for nasri n cesc and buy players that want to play for arsenal. would love to see yous win but just being realistic

LOTS OF RUMOURS ABOUT SANCHEZ TO BARCA, I THINK THEY CAN ONLY AFFORD ONE NOT BOTH, THEY KNOW CESC WILL ONLY LEAVE AFC TO GO THERE.THERE ARE A LOT OF TEAMS WITH MONEY WHO COULD BUY HIM(SANCHEZ)NOW.THATS NOT THE CASE WITH CESC, HE WOULDNT GO TO CITY, MADRID OR CHELSEA ONLY BARCA.SO IF SANCHEZ SIGNS, POSSIBLE FOR CESC TO STAY....THEIR MIDFIELD IS VERY STRONG ANYWAY.....

Just saw this team someone posted and i would love it to be honest;
Starting XI next season

Sczezney

Sagna. Cahill. Vermalean. Gibbs

Wilshere. Song

Mata. Fabregas. Nasri

RVP

This team, for me would win the league.
Maybe an established LB would strenghen it further?
and for once we would have depth with subs like; Ramsey, Frimpong, Gervinho, Walcott, Koscielny ect ect.

{Ed022's Note - This isn't far off the team that I can see starting at Newcastle on the first day of the season. Walcott/Gervinho will probably be more likely to start as Mata is touch and go currently...}

Believable21 Unbelievable5

A team doesn't win the league - a squad does.

Can anyone see Gibbs, Fabregas and RVP being fit for every game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed to the reply above You need a good squad with depth.

I know Krasic from Juventus would cost Arsenal a Hell of a lot but i would love to see him at Arsenal one day

{Ed022's Note - Messi would cost a hell of a lot but i'd love to see him at Arsenal one day...}

Believable6 Unbelievable12

I hate you Ed022 :L, just agree with me please :(

{Ed022's Note - I am not here to agree! I am here to give my thoughts on your posts. I am here to give an honest assessment. Plus, I know Krasic is a good player but just don't see him at Arsenal. Footballs all about opinions!}

why Is everyone saying per mertesacker is to slow at the world cup germany kept a clean sheet against messi and coso I think he would be a great signing for us.

Believable30 Unbelievable9

He runs like he is wearing flippers

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being funny but I run like a retard and I'm petty good at football. Per Mertesacker runs like a retard and he's German international, it means nothing dude.

Arsenal are not signing Cahill, Wenger does not rate him that highly. Loads of people have said to me 'Jagielka or no CB to be signed'

I think we may get him but I really think there is chance that Wenger will say

" We did work hard to bring in a defender of top quality but it was just not possible to find the right player who is available'

This is probably the only rumour that I really see some truth in.

Believable23 Unbelievable10

Cahill is very overrated and cannot perform in big games. If we are to sign a young English centre half then it has to be either Shawcross or Dann.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger had negotiations with Bolton about a 15million deal + Miquel and Lansbury and they have suddenly been omitted form the squad which they were both in same time last season for pre season. It is likely we'll sign him but if it does go through it'll be by the 16th July. Regarding Mata, no club wants to sell their best players over speculation but considering their huge Debt if Mata comes back form holiday and says he wants to leave then their board will seriously have to consider that deal. This is somebody Wenger highly rates. Also to mention if some clubs decide to buy and then make certain players available due to the Fair Play Rule I think Wenger may try to bring in some younger targets like Hazard.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 19:41:23
what do you think the odds are that wenger wont actually sign anyone else. i have a feeling that august will come and there will be no new faces. he has already started staying how close we were last year and TV coming back will be like a new signing. its only a matter of time before he starts with the 'we couldn't find quality that would strengthen the team' bs.

Believable26 Unbelievable8

Hello we bought gervinho and jrnkinson already....i thnk he will bring in a CB definitely

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello he said ANYONE ELSE.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 19:30:44
would love to see wenger buy a golkeeper to challange shezza or be a back up to him possibl craig gordan 5 mil..ish if he could stay fit or federici of reading ? i think given would be ideal but it would just hamper shezzas progression

i would love to see vermarlen used as a left back as i feel he is too small for a cb in the prem.yes he had a brilliant 1st season scoring goals but i think many fans let this mask he did make a few mistakes and was caught out a few times leading us to concede vital goals.yes i love him as a plaer but i think LB would suit the team better

this would open 2 new vaciencies at CB..for me only 2 candidates stand out head and shoulders above all..SCOTT DANN and CHRIS SAMBA.tall strong leaders and have prem experience 20mil would secure both these players.i would also sell squillaci and bring in upson on a 2 yr deal as cover.

i personall would sell fabregas for 35mil and bring in mata of hazard for 23mil..ish as the could step right in and in 3 years time they will be worth 60mil.i would use walcott as a CF and have mayachi as our right winger.i would love us to get vertoughen as a DM as i dont rate song.many would disagree but i see him as lazy and not physical or as dynamic as other players in this position like vieria was or diarra of flamini.actually flamini would be an excellent coup for us.

strikers...obviously a 30+ goals a season player is what we have missed since wrighty and henry so benzema of falcao would be brilliant..but 35mil...no chance while wenger is here.shame.if he wont spend big i would loves us to have a plan B as crouchy is for spuds or pea head for man u....somthing different for when passing it in the net isnt working as normal.i see this player as LUCINA TRAORE 6'8" 20 yrs old champions league experience..fast strong good shooter skillfull and can head.physical presence of crouch but moves more like yaya toure with pace if that makes sense lol.

sumary in
gordan...5mil
dann...10mil
samba..11mil
mata/hazard...25mil
benzema/traore....33mil/5mil

sumery out.
almunia...1 mil
squillaci...2mil
djrouru/koscielny...6/8mil
clichy..7mil
fabregas...35mil
vela...4mil
bendtner...9mil

Believable6 Unbelievable22

We do need many new players now coz likes of diaby, rosicky, eboue, bentner, and the 2 trash cb he bought last year are just not good enough. Le4ts buy dann and cahill and even try for a world class midfielder who can set the premier league alight. This will prob be wengers last year and he does need to get cups and put the smile back on us fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did u get the idea that vela/koscielny/djourou are going anywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say Song is not physical enough?, he pushes players who are much taller than him off the ball

{Ed022's Note - Yeah and thats why he gives away so many fouls...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Great shout mate i like what your saying brummy gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Im with you on song mate hes way over rated hes a real weak link brummie gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

God i'd love to take a sniff of whatever you re on.
Have you forgotten that we only have a transfer budget of 20m.

{Ed022's Note - I am impartial but I will break down the transfer budget as I see it. We had £20m left after Gervinho. We now have £27m off the back of Clichy. Plus Bendtner will go for around £9m so thats £36m. If Squillaci and Almunia go its nearer £40m. Thats before the Fabregas saga continues through July/August. Potentially we could have £80m. Wenger will spend no more than is necessary. Which wont be anywhere near what most people are suggesting...}

Agree0 Disagree0

What has happened to Chamak? I think he is a great striker who likes to shoot on sight. I think is what Arsenal need as trying to pass the ball into the net does not work in every game.

I think playing Chamak up front with RVP on a free role in behind would turn out to be a great partnership?

Agree0 Disagree0

Peter crouch? sucks

Agree0 Disagree0

I can agree with everything but selling Vela a very good footballer who needs time and first team football. He can cause competition for forwards or be played on the wing if necessary or behind the striker. Koscienly is about 23 years old young quick and very aggressive, he has the qualities to be a very good dfeneder and when he played alongside Vermaelen there were no issue as Vermaelen lead the back line and gave him confidence but should we forget his performance against Barcelona in the first Leg. He tackled Messi and co countless times wining possession.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 18:37:50
i dont think bendtner should go he is a good player sometimes

Believable19 Unbelievable30

Unfortunately he is a talker and not a performer.
KJ

{Ed022's Note - If he played like he talked he'd be the Danish Messi... Sadly, he's just a mess.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I will say this about Bendtner, he is not a bad player, he's just not good enough for Arsenal. First touch needs massive improvement, and he needs to eat a huge portion of humble pie lol {Ed046's Note - With or without whipped cream?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Quote, "sometimes". I actually like Bendtner, not his attitude, but he has a great right peg, he's not bad in the air and his passing is actually top notch most of the time, but he's just not good enough for Arsenal's first squad and he wants 1st team action as in his eyes he's the world's best. {Ed046's Note - He's had plenty of opportunities to shine, and hasn't proved it to date}

Agree0 Disagree0

That too...I was building to that then left it out hahaha

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think bendtner is under rated. He is good, just not Arsenal good. If he plays in a mid/bottom of the league prem team where he'll get 90mins week in week out he would score a lot of goals

SG

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner is excellent. I am very sorry he wants out.
Why do you all wants him to be humble? You have to believe in yourself if you want to score goals. Arsenal have enough players who would rather pass the ball than take a simple goal

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. I think he's a good back up player and has the potential to be world class. He just needs to chill out a bit and work on his first touch and postitioning. Strong and good as a target man. He gives us a different dimension to our play. Bet he'd score 30 a season for united or Chelsea. There must be a reason so many good clubs in Europe are after him

Agree0 Disagree0

Here is the thing. He's a CF being played on the wing so how is he going to score goals putting crosses in he should be getting on the end off? If we played him through the middle he would score and has done when given the chance. He is wasted on the wing and if he goes and is played as a CF then he will score.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 17:56:15
Arsenal will sign a 14 year old eskimo

we don't need cahill, mata, benzema etc. This dudes gonna be brilliant in 5 years time

SG

Believable29 Unbelievable12

People might find this funny but this is probably actually what will happen

Agree0 Disagree0

I know, its what I expect. So many transfer windows I sit there at midnight on deadline day looking at the screen convincing myself, wait for it...... any minute now....then nothing.

Im 90% sure AW will use the 'team is more mature' card. Makes me laugh, win a game and our team showed great maturity and lacked it if we lose. Yet buy such young players, well hang on AW, I though maturity was the key here? I seriously don't know whats going on anymore. We have a good team and I truly beleive we can beat anyone on our day but we NEED to strengthen because everyone in and around us are and I fear we could get left behind

SG

{Ed022's Note - On a serious note the 14yr old Eskimo is known to be ice cold in front of goal. He's also almost never on the ig-loosing side...}

downing is on his way deal agreed by end of the week he said he preffers arsenal cus there going places lfc are on thier way to championship bad times for them

Believable6 Unbelievable21

Why would we want Downing. He is s**te and another overated English player. Instead buy Gary Cahill and Juan Mata

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes better off at Villa. At least their manager has won a trophy recently

Agree0 Disagree0

And Gary Cahill isnt over rated or English?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a villa fan and i dont think you should buy downing hes overated and gary cahill is brillent an if anything he's underated hes always gonna be a legend for us after scoring a over head kick against the scum you should defenatley sign him he would sort your defence out

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh as an arsenal fan I think the criticism of downing is harsh. His been villas best player for a while now, alot better than ashley young. I personally dont think he would suit us and would be alot better playing for liverpool in there system. just my opinion though..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ssn said that downing prefers liverpool over arsenal. they can have him for all i care hes average at best

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont talk rubbish lfc will finish above arsenal cause they no ambition. grant scotland

Agree0 Disagree0

Downing said lfc are going to ch'ship .....really be honest how long did you spend coming up with that

Agree0 Disagree0

He said he prefers Liverpool and he's overrated Mata is better quicker, younger more skilful and more versatile.

Agree0 Disagree0

U r a serious whopper for even writing this ya big nugget get to bed uv'e got school tomorrow

{Ed022's Note - At 1045pm on Wednesday, Liverpool FC have agreed a £20m fee with Aston Villa for Stewart Downing. He will be signing for Liverpool in the next week or so. For that money I would love Mata in who, in my opinion is far better!}

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 16:45:34
In all fairness...i dont know what wenger is upto.

What we all do know is that We are not buying a LB.

Which means we will definitely buy a CB.

In my honest opinion i dont see wenger buying cahill or samba especially over 10 million. They are not fast and i honestly think they are over rated.

Vertongen would be the best buy with is left foot and speed. Hopefully arsenal can land him if not then mertesacker then cahill and then samba. But we all know he will buy one CB and if he needs another will do so in the january window.

I do think if Almunia leaves he will sign a GK so that is a given, and hopefully it is shay given.

on the attacking front, mata could be a cesc replacement. I do think barcelona will stump up for him...should be end of transfer window.

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Shay Given is going villa

Agree0 Disagree0

What he said and mertesacker is a lot slower than cahill or samba

Agree0 Disagree0

I THINK SHAY GIVEN WOULD BE A GRATE SIGNING I ALLWAYS LIKED HIM

Agree0 Disagree0

Samba is exactly the type of central defender we've been missing imo, he should absolutely be our top target back there.

Interesting rumours so far today...Some people saying barca have signed sanchez, not sure if thats true havent read anything about that but haven't really looked. If it's true and they are still keen on signing fabregas, but don't have the cash to sign him and with the rumours they are willing to let villa go what do people and any Edds think of a swap deal...villa+5-10m for fabregas? would be sad to see him go but if he doesn't want to be here then we could make the most out of a bad situation and bring in a top cf which is a position i reckon we need to add to.

Cheltenham Gooner

Believable5 Unbelievable15

We will not sign Villa as his wages are too high & he is 30 this year, not Wenger's style. It will be interesting to see how Barca intend financing the proposed purchase of Fabregas, if they sign Sanchez?

Ive never posted on here before. However, I just got back from work experience at Fulham FC where Mark Bowen (the assistant manager) was on the phone for much of the day to representatives from Arsenal.

I can only guess that this must be to do with a certain Nicklas Bendtner...

After missing out on Roger Johnson Arsenal will now bid for Ryan Shawcross

Believable6 Unbelievable35

Has johnson gone somewhere yet?what did we miss exactly ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes signing for Wolves. This is how bad its getting here, decent defenders would rather join Wolves.

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd never sign Shawcross, not after what he did to Ramsey. The guy is a brute. He'll break it again, he'll break it again, Ryan Shawcross, he'll break it again.

Agree0 Disagree0

But we have Jack Wilshere, what hes done was far worse. Innocent people on a night out. We carnt have double standards here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats almost a chant. I remember what they are, but i carnt remember when i last heard one at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

After what he did to Aaron Ramsey he would not be welcome at the club, and the fact that he can't play the ball on the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

if we keep the team we have now and add benzema and samba to it we would have a great team to rival anyone i hope we dont get cahill as i dont rate him much at all..whilst samba isnt a fantastic player on the ground you cant doubt hes very very hard to get a ball by him

Big news, I've got a source who works at the training ground and apparently Benzema and Meta are done deals and will be announced on Thursday. Also, deals for Samba, Cahill AND Scott Paker are nearly done.

I found it hard to believe, but this guy told me about sol campbell before it was news.

R

Believable13 Unbelievable51

If the gut told u about sol, and is so reliable, why did you find it hard to believe?

Agree0 Disagree0

If benzema signs for us i cant tell you how happy id be he would bang goals in for fun for us

Agree0 Disagree0

If Only You could Like Posts

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is meta. Presume you are trying to say Mata

Agree0 Disagree0

If you really believe Scott Parker coming then I strongly suggest you go and invest every single penny you have and bet it on him as we are 33/1 to sign him and Chelsea are odds on so I think you need to change your sources.

Agree0 Disagree0

COBBLERS-GOONER...... i would be interested to know who you kwow at the training ground, as i certainly have not heard all of these rumours. I did tell you on Monday that Benzema was almost done for £22M, and that we had triggered the release claus in Mata's contract, to add to this Samba is dead in the water, but Cahill is very close to being a done deal. Parker was touted, but no interest was followed up, that was weeks ago. some really good news tho, is that Nasri has agreed to sign his new contract, in the region of £110k over 4 years, and Fabregas, i am sorry to say, will now be sold to Barce..... :o(, so name your source, or are you rumour mongering......lol COBBLERS-GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence cobblers but you claim things you cannot prove either. In what capacity can you prove the Benz is nearly done for 22m? Or Mata's release clause met? Samba is dead in the water because the spec has dried up, not because we're no longer interested necessarily. At no point has AW admitted he's withdrawn interest. And the Nasri deal?? Well wel sir, if Cobblers knows then someone else more important will know, which means it would have been announced by some sharking media leech at some point. Your rumours are no stronger than anyone else's

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish that was true but I don't think it's gonna happen

This happens every year, all these rumours. I know for a fact wenger will not break the bank. he will buy proven CB, and 1 or 2 kids.. thats it. FACT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fingers crossed for this post to be true, but i doubt it. Wenger never buys more than three people in any one window, even if he's under pressure now, its hard to see him change a policy of a lifetime...

Agree0 Disagree0

The only way we'll get these players is if I win the euro millions and I buy them.I pray that this rumour is true, but I won't be holding my breathe.

{Ed022's Note - Can I just say that I thought Dublin Gooner was full of wit...or should I say sh... I feel Thursday will pass us by without an annoucement. Alexis Sanchez has just completed his move to Barcelona, for approx. 40 million euro. I make two conclusions out of this:
- they will be more than reluctant to spend a similar amount on Cesc unless they sell Villa - the only high priced asset they are willing to part with.
- they will have few arguments to convince anyone that Cesc does not cost as much as Sanchez. Having seen them spent 30 mil plus on Chigrinsky (spelling) and 40 on Sanchez, with Cesc they are just riding on his desire to return to Barca..
I am starting to think that Cesc will stay for one more season.

Hello, this a new source writer 'Angus' and i have travelled with the gunners on there Asia Tour, i went to the training center with them, along with thousands of asian crazy fans.

During the training 4 huge things happened:

-The huge crowd inside and outside the stadium ranted "Nasri, Nasri, Nasri, stay, stay, stay". Which was greeted by Nasri willingly ignoring it, without a smile or anything carrying on passing the ball to teamates

-The club photographer; He, could have took alot, alot more photo's of Nasri, but you could see he looked like he was orded not to, only he could when he was in the background or hided by his teamates, maybe not to show his dissapoint, which was very captivating inside the stadium

-The club for fun, had a 100m dash, inwhich new arrival Miyachi drew with the Famous Theo Walcott, even the amazing Tezzy Henry couldn't do.

-Arsene Wenger was pratically on his phone, through the whole duration Maybe to complete deals i do not know, also he was back and forth to a certain person who else was on his phone, sometimes going under the tunnel to hear better...

Thank you, please put it on 'Rumors' for more people to see it, and boosssst the Arsenal Team

{Ed022's Note - Theo Walcott currently holds the Arsenal 40 metre sprint record with a time of 4.72seconds beating Thierry Henry's previous record of 4.82seconds. Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe you at all, but Philip Lahm in an Arsenal shirt would be the best singing ever, he is better than Samba, better than Chaill, better than Jags, and obv has world cup finals experience and Champs league experience. He is quality.

Lahm as far as I know is a full back. This makes no sense.

Better than samba? better at what - playing as a left/right back? yeh your right. But id choose samba at CB over lahm every day of the week so why do a comparison. Would you pick benzema over cahill ?

Lahm is a full back lmao, and djourou would not be part of any deal, bendtner would be. but this wont happen so stop dreaming

Grow up you tool. We're talking the difference between central defence and left/right backs, hardly as ridiculous as comparing defenders with strikers. It seems like, a lot of people on here, you get your facts from championship manager. He's rated 19 for pace or something and you signed him as bournemouth manager and won the champions league. Total, utter, guff. Ok analysis time

Goalkeepers ..Shezza done great last season and will continue to improve. Already proving to be a top class keeper. Wenger still has great belief in Fabianski and so he will more than likely be our number 2. very unlikely anything will happen in this position. Small possibility Wenger will loan out Fabianksi to get him a full season under his belt and bring in an experienced goalkeeper to cover as number 2. very doubtful tho.

Defenders ..Sagna and Jenkinson to fight for right back. it has been said Gibbs and Traore will fight for the left back spot with Vermaelen also providing cover. Poor idea in my opinion. Suggestions of this being a smoke screen whilst Wenger searches for a suitable left back very doubtful however With Wenger stating that Arsenal are an offensive team it seems we won't be strengthening the back as well as many of the fans would like. Expect ONE dominant centre back to come in. Many have been linked with Arsenal in the past month such as Gary Cahill, Roger Johnson, Jagielka, Christopher Samba, Scott Dann and Sylvain Distin, possibility of one of them coming in however I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger goes back on his word and goes abroad. Doubt it very much it will be Metersacker (spelling). It's just an old story that's resurfaced. He had a poor season in Germany and certainly isn't going to improve us.

Centre midfielders plenty of depth in this position. Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby, Lansbury, Song, Nasri, Frimpong and Rosicky. 8 players that can all play in the middle, very unlikely we will see ANOTHER centre midfielder come in.

Wide players ..Arshavin on the left along with Nasri also featuring there. Gervinho been brought in to play on the right. Ryo Myaichi will feature for Arsenal this season given the amount of hype Wenger has surrounded him with. That's 4 wingers already. Then we have Theo Walcott who has a chance of playing upfront this season but can also play on the right. that's 5 wingers. Possibility of one more coming in with that player more than likely being Alex Chamberlain with one bid already rejected. A complete joke of a bid at £6m but that is just the opening offer to get the negotiations running. A deal will be met sooner or later.Talk of Mata and Downing isn't going to come true. £18-20m for Downing? Smoking pot He won't lodge any of the wingers already at Arsenal and to pay that amount of money for a back up isn't going to happen. Valencia have stated quite firmly that Mata isn't for sale. Hazard and Lille have also both stated that a transfer isn't going to happen.

Striker ..this is the position I feel we may actually get the big signing in. Van Persie is the main man upfront at the moment but can also be known to be the main man in the injury room as well. Vela's agent has claimed the player will be staying with Arsenal this season but after his poor loan spell at West Brom last season it will be very surprising to see him given major opportunities this season. Chamakh will be given an opportunity to make up for a debut season that didn't quite go to plan. There is no guarantee he will be a success next season. Walcott will get his games upfront and should hopefully prove more effective in this position. Expect a pure proven goalscorer to come in next season that Wenger can count on to get goals in Van Persie's absence. Vela, Walcott and Chamakh don't guarantee this and so Van Persie will not have a major challenge for his position. Benzema is a big possibility depending on whether Real Madrid push him out. His agent is adamant the player will be fighting for his position however the club have yet to state that he features in Mourinho's plans. The possibility of Aguero, Tevez and Neymar signing could push the French striker out the door and through the Emirates entrance. don't think a deal for other big strikers in the game are off limits either ..players like Falcao and Aguero aren't out of Arsenal's depth.

Summary .

Rb signed in Jenkinson
RWF signed in Gervinho
One centre back to come in.
One wide player to come in. (chamberlain)
One striker to come in.

That's 5 signings. 2 young ones, 1 unproven one and 2 established players. Very unrealistic for Wenger to sign anymore than that. Even 5 seems very optimistic. Fans talking about 6-7 big name players in need to get real. Wenger feels arsenal were very close last season. He isn't going to revamp the squad completely if he believes that.

Thanks for reading.

Opinions appreciated

Juan mata a name buzzing around the emirates and I am going to tell you a short story that will fill a lot of gooners with hope.

Yesterday, Valencia president llorente said the mata is not for sale and there has been no offers for him. He will be at Valencia next season. End of the mata (bad pun)? Not quite.

Let's take a journey back in time to the David villa transfer, he said exactly the same thing that he has said about mata, but, 5 days later he had signed for Barcelona, okay so there is some hope, but there is more.

Again, David silva, llorente again stated the same phrases of which he said about mata and you guest it, 4 days later he is announced as a man city player.

So arsenal fans there is something in this mata strory, start of next week juan mata could be at the emirates? We will see, bendtner and almunia need to go to make room in the squad for him and also Gary Cahill.

So Bolton are looking to finally cash in on there cb, but with a price tag set at 17m and very little time to sign him if Bolton deadline set is true. Ignasi Miguel, someone Owen coyle is VERY interested in has not travelled to Asia, arsenal are looking to offer £15m + Miguel on a season long loan, and the chance of any youngster of his choice in the reserves. A deal that could go through maybe.

Peaves

Believable23 Unbelievable10

Arsenal could have given money + miguel a month ago. cahill could be in asia playing with us..if wenger actually wanted cahill, we would have him already.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your Thinking It would be lovly if this does happen... I Like Mata, he would give us good width on the Left which will be free as Nasri can fill Cesc's place, when he finally goes to follow his DNA rubbish and sits on the bench.
But I really hope your right with Cahill.. we need a player like him at the club abit of passion, grit, leadership and English too

Agree0 Disagree0

Also.. Aren't Valencia financially in trouble?

Agree0 Disagree0

Regarding Mata, he has a realise clause in his contract believed to be around about 25m (£20m) which apllies to all clubs (not just Spanish clubs that these clause generally apply to). So the Valencia president can say he isn't going to sell Mata all he wants, if someone meets the realise clause he is powerless to not sell him.

Listening to AST meeting last night, we have a budget of 30 mill to spend, which coninsides the new contracts for Nasri and then next year for Walcott, Rvp etc...

Which means, if we don't sell Nasri this year for 25 Mill?.& he leaves for free next year, we will not have hardly any budget to buy a replacement, due to contract of the other players, and other possible transfer's.

We have an extra 25 mill to spend due to property devlopment in the area, but this will be long term.

Wenger is a main manager who thinks long term, but it is time to think short Arsene.

Breaking News-
Reports in Sweden are stating that Arsenal have signed a 16 year old player for 500K.

Yes we have but he plays for Germany under 17s. Confused.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to your figures, I cannot understand how you expect Arsene to think on short terms when he is financially restricted to planning on long term basis?

Gooners need to start getting real.

Agree0 Disagree0

No your wrong, Arsene has had a 10 year plan, he think long term, as in a long time the player he signs hopefully get amazing although they leave for a better club. Thinking, short term will make Arsene buy the players that are on there peak and maybe win trophies.

Well it's fair to say that the figure of 30mil is false representation (a la Barcelona 'we only have 40 million to spend and we're signing 3 players worth at least 25'). We had 43m that was made public over a month ago. We've spent abut 12 on Gerv and Jenk. So approx 30 left in that pot perhaps. But with the sale of Almunia, Bendnter and Clichy that pot goes from 43 mil to 62 mil approx. Plus fabregas sale at at least 35 mil.....so we're talking roughly 90 mil this tf window. Take 10mil to dent the wage bill and we're talking 80mil left to play with, minus the 11ish for Gerv and boom, 70 mil we want 3 players. get to work AW and bring in the talent we need. then bin Nasri the traitor.

Fergo states that Nasri has already agreed to another club (Manchester City)

Fergie doesn't know what's going on at arsenal- he also added, 'but he may be staying arsenal, who knows ?' In other words he doesn't really know
The press love to pick up on just one line like that...without putting into context.

Plus, everything else you're saying has been said either yesterday or days ago- we all read what's in the papers here dude

CG with another quality post. nasri will be at Arsenal this season, he cannot agree terms with any club as he is still under contract to Arsenal. In January he will be able to if he hasn't extended his contract by then.

Wenger to wait until January, and depending on Gervinho, and Chamakh's form, to bring in Nikica Jelavic for around £12m. He only played the latter half of the season for Rangers, after a bad injury, and Wenger wants to see another half season of full fitness. RVP, for all his talent, is a 20 game a season guy and we need numbers up top to compete. Jelavic, for me, is one of the best strikers in Europe. Forget what you hear about the standard of the SPL, which is admittedly atrocious. He is outstanding, and would enhance any top 4 team. He plays up top on his own, or as part of any 2/3 combo, and is similar in build and playing style to Batistuta. Remember Henrik Larsson? People said he was only good playing in the SPL. Moved to barca (league and champions league), then man u (league). A class player is a class player, and Jelavic would be a sensation for us. Significantly better than Benzema, who I actually rate highly.

Believable10 Unbelievable30

Praise Henrik Larsson, I live about 500 meters away from him in Helsingborg. A huge legend in Helsingborg.

This is rubish

Be good to hear a Ranger's fans view on this player

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a Rangers and Arsenal fan and tbh Jelavic is a really good player, but i still dont think he is Arsenal quality, yet. And from a Rangers fans point of view £12 million would be bloody amazing

Agree0 Disagree0

IAM A RANGERS SUPPORTER SPL MIGHT BE A s**tE LEAGUE BUT JELIVIC WOULD SCORE 20 TO 25 GOALS NO PROBLEMFOR ARSENAL AS LONG AS UR PLAYERS WOULD PASS THE BALL TO HIM AND STOP TRYING TO WALK THE BALL INTO THE NET, LOVE ARSENALS STYLE OF PLAY UR JUST MISSING THAT FINAL LINK AND JELIVIC IS JUST THAT, SPL OR NOT 12MILLIONS CHEEP FOR A PLAYER OF HIS STANDARD. IF HE WAS PLAYING IN GERMANY OR SPAIN YOU WOULD PAY MORE FOR HIM, OUTSTANDING PLAYER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im on here coz its posted on our page ur looking at him... honestly, hes the best striker iv seen at ibrox seriously since mccoist. I promise you hes better that bender sorry bedner or that chamkh boy..

I will seriously hate arsen wenger more if u take him.

If i am honest i cant see him being at rangers next season. once ppl see him in champs league hes off.
bast***s

Agree0 Disagree0

I also am a Rangers fan from our page, if you get him for £12 mil it is a bloody steal. I don't care what you say about the SPL he is an amazing player, you can have an amazing player in a s**t league, but it doesn't make them a s**t player.

Agree0 Disagree0

WOULD HATE TO SEE HIM GO BUT HES TO GOOD FOR SPL , I AGREE ITS NOT THE BEST IN THE WORLD BUT LOOK AT WHAT LARSSON DID HE WAS AN UNKNOWN BEFORE HE WENT TO SPL AND LOOK WHAT HE ENDED UP DOING WITH MAN UTD AND BARCA, JELIVICS UR MAN BUT WAIT TILL JANUARY SO HE CAN WRAP THE LEAGUE UP FOR US FIRST, 12MILLION PLUS MAN FOR ARSENAL IF YOU WANT TO WIN LEAGUE HES THE GUY TO DO IT FOR YOU.
