As much as it sucks that cesc is gone - Wenger obviously didn't want him for a reason.

This is because we need to invest in the following areas:

GK, RB, DM, LW, ST

Wenger plays rambo, wilshere, ozil, cazorla, chambo, rosicky etc in AM/M so it makes sense to me.

i reckon:

GK: one off of ED02's list
RB: Aurier/Uchida
CB: if Verm goes (Ginter?)
DM: Khedira (im throwing all my hope here)
LW: Vela/(di maria/pedro/sanchez ha)
ST: Balo/Morata/Martinez

Eds? Realistic?

Believable14 Unbelievable15

{Ed002's Note - You can add Bony to the list of strikers.}

Ed02 if above list of players is to believed then it's looking like arsenal will make 6 signings? Ed02 are u expecting arsenal to strengthen these six areas? Thanx will appreciate your reply

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I have explained where the interest is, I am not going to predict numbers. And you can add Mandzukic to the list of forwards - Mr Wenger has shared that information with, oddly enough, a scout from another EPL side who is also in Brazil.}

Thanks Ed - seems fair enough if we are replacing players who are on their way out and buying in places we have needed to buy for 2 years!

Unless of course, Cesc didn't want to come back to Arsenal.
Which is just as plausible, if not, more so

Agree0 Disagree7

Why do we need to get a young Rb we have Jenko.

Agree0 Disagree0

How nice of mr. Wenger to share his targets :)

Sagna has just confirmed the inevitable, he is leaving Arsenal.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Which is why Arsenal have been in discussions over a right back. This should not be a shock.}

12 Jun 2014 18:21:45
well we all new that?

Ed - is it aurier/abate/uchida then?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal have been talking to Toulouse about Aurier.}

12 Jun 2014 17:53:38
Ed, why on your post did you have Di Maria as a more likely signing than say Sanchez or Pedro? I had always assumed Di Maria was a dream that would never come true and Sanchez was a realistic option

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I do not know if they have yet submitted a bid but Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all interested in Di Maria. There has been an offer from Monaco and an rejected PSG offer, although they may well return with another offer. If he cannot stay at Real Madrid, the player would not object to a move to Italy should the opportunity arise and Juventus may give him that opportunity, perhaps as part of a package deal that could see players being exchanged. If not, he would be beyond the means of Juventus without them selling either of their prized assets. Madrid seem keen to hang on to him but Jorge Mendes has been looking for a deal for the player and has persuaded Real Madrid to provide a price at which they would sell him. He is however in danger of pricing him out of the market with some pretty outrageous wage demands.

There has been in Sanchez interest from Manchester United, Juventus and Arsenal. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on and would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. There have been discussions Juventus in respect of Sanchez and there is no secret that his agent has confirmed that they would be willing to meet the terms that the player desires. However, they are far from agreeing a figure with Barcelona for the sale - very far indeed. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on for a very significant fee or would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. Barcelona were looking to replace Fabregas with Vidal and were looking to that as an option whilst there is such a difference between what is being asked and what is being offered. However, with talks dragging on and Juventus wanting to keep Vidal their attention shifted from Vidal to Koke and then to Rakitic. Juventus has returned to talk with Barcelona on June 10 and have made it clear to Sanchez that they will keep Vidal but they still need to sort out the financial issue somehow - and this means they will sacrifice Pogba in order to get Sanchez and keep Vidal.

Barcelona will listen to significant offers for Pedro. Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are known to have enquired with his agent in recent months. PSG has spoken with Barcelona about the player last summer and in January. So there is really very little right now. It would not be a surprise to see interest from Liverpool if Suarez were to leave.}

Thanks Ed, still sounds like Di Maria will not be possible but I'd really really like him

Agree0 Disagree1

I was unaware that Mendes was Di Maria's agent. Now that we know that, I strongly feel that there is no chance that we'll ever sign Di Maria due to Mendes' ridiculously strong ties with Mourinho.
Mourinho would never allow Mendes to sell a player, on his books & of such calibure to a close rival of Chelsea's.
Having recently read "The Special One" by Diego Torres, my complete view on Mourinho and the actual power that the Gestifute Group hold has been blown away. The close ties between the pair, continously being compared to a brotherhood, would never allow such a move which would cause possible competition for Mourinho's Chelsea.
Just my opinion though, I'd be happy with Balotelli, Khedira, Aurier & Ruffier as final signings. Throw Remy in aswell and hopefully TV5 stays.

I really hope arsene has something up his sleeve now that we didn't need cesc.

Believable16 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Khedira. There is clear interest.}

What does everyone & Ed think of Khedira? I've never been overly impressed but must admit I haven't seen a lot of him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Khedira, besides ramsey please if there is a god.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know where u would play him you have rambo jack ozil wally and the ox carzola then flamimi arteta diaby when fit and the promisin young lad and gnabry vela unless we lose carzola to athletico I read they were preparing 18 mil bid because turan mayve on his way

Agree0 Disagree0

I would much rather of had cesc than khedira, khedira would be a massive waste of money

Any truth in the Bressan rumours? Personally I don't know anything about him, but he's young and good on football manager!

Believable3 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - If this is the Gremio player it would be unlikely as I can't see how he would get a work permit.}

Thank you for the reply, any chance of explaining how the work permit system works?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up by FIFA (top 75), or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher. Some players can obtain work permits through their parents or grand parents being English.}

Having read that it now seems extremely unlikely that we'll get him as doesn't seem to fit into any of those categorize. Thank you Ed002 for the clarification.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe he has an Italian passport, if so he wouldn't need a permit.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That will help but it will need to be ratified to ensure it is not a passport of convenience.}

I don't like to predict things generally. But from what i'm hearing from a few people that have their ear to the ground
I've got a feeling we will sign Morata. Hearing this from sources at the Emirates.

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Morata, Vela and Giroud to be the frontline?

so does that mean giroud is our main striker?

if that's the case, Khedira and Di Maria are essential to give us more elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

LAKERVILLE. Possibly Giroud to be back up. But I wouldn't mind seeing two up front. 4-4-2. To see how it goes.

Ed02 thanx for my earlier rumour reply? Ed02 do you have any information regarding Jackson Martinez to arsenal? Bcs his agent said that arsenal and Valencia are the two most interested clubs? Thanx and I will really appreciate your reply

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Porto are seeking his full release clause but would likely need to settle for less. Two bids from Juventus were turned down and Milan baulked at the asking price. This has left Valencia who are looking to make improvements this summer and have been in discussion, Napoli who have spoken with Porto and perhaps Spurs. Arsenal are interested and remain a possibility but the price will not be attractive. It would take some work.}

11 Jun 2014 17:51:29
Ed, is it possible we could use Vela's buy back clause as a 'makeweight' for any potential Griezmann deal (seems unlikely to me)? and is Joel Campbell going to be in the squad next year or loaned out again?

Thanks in advance.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Any "deal" for Griezmann will have nothing to do with any "buy back" clause in another players contract. No decision will have been taken about Joel Campbell yet.}
