Hi Ed, any truth in the links to Ben White?

{Ed002's Note - Ben White (CB) an alternative to Pau Torres for Manchester United, but seen as expensive because of the "English premium". Spurs have sustained interest but the funding will go on other priorities. Liverpool has an interest but will opt for Konate. Leeds would like to take him back but on a permanent basis but find that asking price unattractive. Arsenal showed interest last summer but opted early on for the cheaper Saliba who is expected to now have his chance - else they will need a CB. Added to PSG options as preferred target fall away but English players are not good travellers. If finances allow Mr Mourinho has included him on the list of players he was interested in when joining Roma but it seems unlikely. Brighton will look to hang on to him unless a very good offer is made.}

Arsenal had the 3rd best defence in the league last season. We are crying out for a LB, RB and 2 Centre Midfielder players and now we're supposedly serious about signing Ben White.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ben White is a fine player and usually i'd be buzzing by this but this is most Arsenal thing I've ever seen.
We have one of the most talented youngsters at CB in the game in Saliba and he hasn't played a minute, yet we look set to offer crazy money for Ben White.

If we are going to offer 40-50m for a Brighton player it has to be Bissouma!
What on earth is going on at Arsenal 🤦🏻‍♂️😂.

There has to be more to the Saliba situation. MA can't ignore the stats from his playing time last season, he was great. Looks the real deal and ready to start at CB for us next season.

There has to be issues that we are not privy too, otherwise I agree it makes 0 sense.

I remember him and Guendouzi on social media making a mokery of not starting, so possibly he has a poor attitude? Just all a bit odd.

If Ben White rumours are true, Saliba won’t be in Emirates next season. If not, this transfer doesn’t make any sense at all. And to replace Rob with a 50M CB doesn’t make sense either.

It sure is lefty mate and maybe there is more to it but you have to give the lad a shot. He's probably annoyed because he was signed for near 30m and possibly had assurances over game time? Who knows.
I just find it typical of Arsenal that we are looking at a player that we don't really need with the backup we have. If we get the business done in the important positions first and then move for White then fair play but if we don't sign a LB, RB and CM cover then we're not set up probably going in to the new season.

I am truly baffled by the interest in Ben White. I am told that Arteta is worried about Saliba's lack of experience in the EPL. If that is so he could have played him in gently or loaned him to an EPL side rather than packing him off to France. Either way, Saliba's figures do not suggest we need to spend £40m+ on a CB.

Quality players to go to CM, LB cover, RB, and possibly a striker if Laca/ Nketiah go. It's simple, but what do I know?

I agree Urban. I feed bad because I should be buzzing but I just don't get it. It makes very little sense in a summer with limited funds and other priority positions. Fans never know anything though mate 😂.

Why would you want to replace Rob Holding DG. As already said we had the 3rd best defence last year, and he was head and shoulders our best center half? So why replace him at all, and if you did want to ship one out, why not Gabriel, who consistently was our worse defender?

Is Arsenal really interested in Ben White this time round or is not just click bait, given we’re the most gullible fans out there?

Even if we should buy a CB I doubt it would even be half £40m.
