Hearing quite a few rumours of Luiz going to rennes. Strange as he just signed a new contract but thought worth a share.

Stranger things have happened D16 mate like Clive Allen joining and leaving us without ever playing for us but I'd rate these Luis rumours along the lines of a ufo landing in trafalgar square mate.

Ed I watched Upamecano today against Athletico. I mean for what, a 21 year old? He was insanely reliable. Linked with a good CB partnership which could be Saliba, he’d be unreal. He looks like he would be a good investment/ buy if an opportunity arises, no? Tell me we’re still interested in him.
(Yes if we can offload a few CBs in the process, maybe make a little aid to the kitty. )

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty sure eds 002 said PSG and City were talking to his people...I’ve eulogized about this kid for ages he’s a monster of a CB...Theres more chance of Arsenal Wenger playing for spurs than Upamecano signing for the Gunners mate.

Just read that Kia has slammed Sven Mislintat for his signings that cost a fortune. Leno and Aubamayang great signings, Torreira and Guendouzi good signings although may not have worked out we should get back more than we paid for them and Sokratis has been decent for not a great outlay. Can`t believe Willian and or Coutinho, Luiz and Soares will have much sell on value but the agents fees are very nice at least. He also said Arsenal has not even been mentioned to Fernandes! Just wondered if the rumours then are complete hogwash COYG.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is backtracking on Joelson after ptting a huge amount of effort to have Arsenal committ €45M and significant fees for him.}

13 Aug 2020 16:26:13
The fact Ed002 he has said what he has just confirms he`s a slippery wotsit and can`t believe him that Fernandes knew nothing of it when he`s put that much effort in. I fear Edu and Raul are hanging their hat on him and with his actual and potential signings we are back to square one where we have an aged squad of players who no one wants . Had enough of that recently COYG.

Svens signings were brilliant, he's not not responsible for how Emery or Arteta manage them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - that agent seems like an absolute nugget

13 Aug 2020 16:36:35
Could be wrong here and most probably am. But surely him back tracking on Fernandes perhaps shows arsenal wasn't willing to spend stupid money on him. Maybe he isn't completely brainwashed them yet. Who knows.

Apparently he's an Arsenal fan too which is why he wants to help us with our transfers, bring success and fix the mess of previous transfers over the years! Welcome 32 year old Willian 😂.

It will all cone out in the wash Ed047 mate, kia is obviously a road we are going down Whether we like it or not so we may as well hold on tight until this crazy part of our history passes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - sure it will mate, the next few weeks will be interesting that’s for sure

13 Aug 2020 21:11:54
Exactly Gunner mate 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 I'd love to see Partey but I would be more than happy if we signed Doucoure. Willian brings experience, a good injury record and makes us more potent going forward. Doucoure would sure us up in the middle for sure and again has loads of Premier League experience. 2 more smartly thought out transfers and I'd be happy.

I think there is a lot to be said for premier league experience Glen mate, there will certainly be different players at Arsenal next season and different players bring the hope of different outcomes whether you agree with the signings when they arrive or not you always have to hope they do the business in an Arsenal shirt once they are here.
Less hope the class of 2020 freshers bring more lasting optimism than the freshers of 2019 delivered :-)

Much depends on outgoings but there is a need for a DM, CM to replace Ceballos) , AM/ W and S.

This is a Post C.V. update on possible summer transfers:

Cedric Soares (RB) Arsenal has the option to buy the loanee in the summer - scraping the barrel rather. Done.

Pablo Mari (CB) a cheap and cheerful addition that Arsenal will look to take up the option to buy him if all goes well. Signed.
William Saliba (CB) signed.

Danilo Pereira (DM) Nearly made the move to Arsenal under Wenger and it has been suggested by an ex Arsenal scout in Portugal that Arsenal could make an approach after losing out on their first choice DM player PG.
Thomas Partey (DM) Atletico Madrid are not looking to let him leave but AM are in a significant debt issue and know that Oblak, Llorente, Saul, Partey and Lemar are the options to open up the opportunity to raise money - yet the interest of sides is a light year from serious and Atletico will fight to keep Koke and Gimenez. Juventus have an interest in Partey but would want to have a player involved in the deal - that would be Douglas Costa ideally, but AM want the €50 buyout paid in cash. Arsenal may just be able to use Lacazette as part of a deal for him, but Arsenal remain in a significant financial mess as well and really need sales before they buy.
Douglas Luiz (DM/ CM) but Manchester City have the option to buy him back if Aston Villa put him up for sale - which I doubt. Seems unlikely.
Marc Roca (DM/ CM) last summer approaches from three sides (Bayern Munich, West Ham and Inter) were flatly rejected by Espanyol without offers or discussion but a side could opt to offer his €40M termination clause (which needs to be paid in cash) and force discussions to be opened. Real Madrid still see him as a possible option - but some way down the list compared to other targets and they are in a really bad place financially so nothing will happen. The other sides who were previously interested do not have the stomach to offer up the cash and all would want to negotiate a deal. Arsenal have an advisor who sees Marc Roca as an option to Thomas Partey but another who sees the Danilo Pereira as a low cost option that would suit Arsenal better. MIlan has an interest which will increase if the price were to drop, and they will look to include a player in the deal. Espanyol want to keep him. If his price halves due to the C.V., then the likes of Crystal Palace and Everton could look to him.
Abdeoulaye Doucoure (CM/ DM) if reasonably priced will offer a viable and experienced solution for Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle all of which are looking for that type of versatility.
Amadou Diawara (DM) I am not aware of any approach by Arsenal but people have been asking.

Alfred Duncan (CM) suggested by a new Arsenal scout as a Dani Ceballos replacement - scratch him,
Carlos Soler (CM/ RM) interest of Spurs and Manchester United has gone but Arsenal could give the player a move to the Premier League - if a reasonable fee could be agreed with Valencia. Possible.
Houssem Aouar (CM/ AM) Very unlikely unless money can be found from sales.
Morgan Sanson (CM) possible but need to act soon.
Ivan Rakitic (CM) would be a mistake, but possible.

Thomas Lemar (AM/ LW/ RW) would be a mistake.
Philippe Coutinho (AM/ LW) Kia wants it done,
Willian (RW/ LW/ AM) could be used as an AM - done effectively.
Ryan Fraser (LW/ RW) seems very unlikely
Joelson Fernandes (LW/ F/ RW) another possible Jadon Sancho replacement that has been considered by Borussia Dortmund but they were not impressed by the non-negotiable €45M cash release clause or Sporting saying that they are discussing a new contract with his "agent" which will see the release clause double. There was a potential legal issue if his agent deals directly with any other clubs because of his age, but approaches have been made to Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona and Chelsea but none are keen on such a huge investment for someone who has had only a tiny amount of experience at first team level. If Arsenal are willing to spend that amount on a player who would certainly be behind Bukayo Saka for a while it would be a bold move and a giant hint that Kia Joorabchian has really got a hold on Edu and Arsenal. Kia is backtracking now - I think it is unlikely now Kia is backtracking.

Odsonne Edouard (S) a cheaper option than most and seen as an ideal Lacazette replacement.
Rodrigo Moreno (S) an option but at 29 it would make no sense unless very cheap.

Thanks Ed! I would love Edouard but don’t see it happening unless we generate many sells.

{Ed002's Note - I am sure there will be some sells.}

13 Aug 2020 15:38:22
Fantastic Ed, thank you for the update.
Regarding outgoings, are you able to clarify at all where the interest is atm? As we know Guendouzi is likely to leave, AMN is being looked at and also Torreira and Lacazette look like possible departures. We also have Mhki and Elneny too which would help. Are there many others that are of interest to clubs at this stage of the window?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Needs updating but something like this:
Hector Bellerin (RB) Sevilla are looking for support and eventual replacement of the aging Jesus Navas and Bellerin is their first choice. Arsenal will likely want to hang on to him for a year because of money.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles (RB/RM/DM) Arsenal took up their option on Cedric Soares - so a kick in the gonads for the kid and he may have to think about other options such as Brighton. The complexity is that he wants to play CM but the club do not see him as good enough to play there.
Sead Kolasinac (LB) Schalke provide an option.
Kieran Tierney (LB) Arsenal will look to hold on to the player but Leicester could look to him if they lose Chilwell - which seems unlikely.
Shkodran Mustafi (CB) could well be available.
David Luiz (CB) not convinced it is going in the right direction at Arsenal has expressed his desire to join Benfica this summer - but an extension probably ends that opportunity.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB) With Saliba and Mari people need to make way and Sven Mislintat will look to pick up a few bargains for Stuttgart as he know the issues Arsenal have financially. However, the player wants to stay at Arsenal and Stuttgart have added Anton in addition to taking KM on loan.
Konstantinos Mavropanos (CB) wants a chance at Arsenal but may have to look to Stuttgart or elsewhere in Germany as Arsenal has a bundle of CBs already.
Granit Xhaka (DM) there was a tentative agreement for a move to Hertha Berlin, who are looking at a complete rebuild. Lucas Torreira will need to step up if it happens but right now nothing is happening.
Mohamed Elneny (DM) Milan are trying to reach agreement for a summer move and have asked if it will be possible for a January release from Besiktas - but they had an option to buy and did not want any disruption at all as they were doing well. Option not taken up and Arsenal would not negotiate the price - now stuck as Olympiakos and Kasimpasa will not match the price. An own goal at the moment.
Matteo Guendouzi (DM/CM) the player has made it clear he wants to be playing at a higher level of football than Arsenal can aspire to and his agent has been hawking him around Italy, Spain and France for a while. I imagine Arsenal will be open to offers as they are for their other DM players and may be an exchange for Lemar, Partey, Coutinho or Ceballos might be an option. Villarreal are keen.
Lucas Torreira (DM/CM) told the club he wants to leave and his agent has been working on trying to find interest in Italy. To my knowledge there has been nothing so far but the club will be open to selling him as he does not seem to be in favour with the coach.
Dani Ceballos (CM) agent is investigating other options as the player is edging away from signing for Arsenal who would like to keep him. It is about direction, opportunity and the future. The idea is he gets another loan, gets to the Euros, gets to talk options with Real Madrid and the decides on a practical way forward - perhaps with a progressive side like Real Betis. Else he needs to look to stay at Arsenal on loan perhaps as money is a major issue. Real Madrid need to be selling players as they have a significant financial target to meet so they will not be wanting to loan him out. Keeping him is an option if they can assure him of game time.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (AM) Arsenal will sell to Roma but value him at three times the rejected €10M offer. Mino is looking to leverage Arsenal's financial issues and expect the next Roma offer to be only slightly improved.
Mesut Özil (AM) if a deal can be found to sell him (which will be tough) then the option is to try and negotiate a fee for him to leave - else if he stays then there will be a significant impact on transfer plans and he will leave for zip in 2021.
Bukayo Saka (LW) Bayern Munich were keen to take the kid from Arsenal so Arsenal signed him to a new contract and he will stay for now.
Folarin Balogun (S) wants out and wants to be playing.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangadingdong (S/LW) wants a new start elsewhere but Arsenal have spoken to him and he says he will consider a new contract - but it is unlikely agreement will be reached over terms and there is nothing on the table that I am aware of. PSG may offer him a way out as a Cavani replacement but they are well stocked and game time would be limited. Napoli retain an interest in Aubameyangadingdong as a preferred option to replace MIlik - Barcelona could look to an offer but money and priorities are against it.
Alexandre Lacazette (S) wanted a new start elsewhere but seemed to have settled before the season was halted. Atletico Madrid are keen but he is very much a Plan B for them.
