What about Bentdner ?
Agree0

Personally i think if we sig another player it will be at the expense of Song to Barcelona. IMHO i see the club, Wenger and the board trying to "Balance the Books" as they always do in which case is a kick in the teeth to us fans as we want them to show intent which means bringing and adding not replacing the starting lineup (deadwood yes offload).
Typical pulling of the wool over our eyes again as it looks like they have finally done somthing right only to do many things wrong to recoup money and thus proving nothing to us or the rest of the Prem towards our ambition which i now see won't ever change.

Juventus are in for him so wenger needs to act quick

Apparently only players native to basque play for bilbao. would like that though! very disgusted with us sending him off to united. abroad i could of hacked but to another english team.. disgusted with the board and van purse-strings. had his name on my back for last 3 seasons.. reckon if i wrote him a letter and asked to be re-inburst seeing as hes on 200 + grand a week?

Bilbao only have Basque born players. No NB 52

"Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.
Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move.
Further updates will feature on Arsenal.com in due course."

We're getting 24 mill
Agree0
Disagree0
BBC say we get 24 mil for him which is very good for a player with a bad history record & probably just 4 more years at his peak. What now i wonder? Llorente? We pulled out of Mirallas so thinking we go for a more established proven striker now. Any ideas anyone? At least we know where we stand now! Must admit he has let us down, can't believe he's gone to Utd. Sickening.

Can now anyone refuse to say we are not the selling club. Yes, we are a selling club. We are always naive that our players will be loyal and we let them to one year left on a contract. But they aren't. Another year without a trophy, thats for sure.

It is now about what winger does with the 24 million- he has to invest that if not more in at least one world class centre forward.
who should we sign?

Ambition! What did the mancs win last season? We went further in the cl. They are gonna win f--k all next seasons. Rvp will be crocked by November and wishing he was to of the pl with us gooners.

All true gooners to make sure we let RVP what we think of him and his club has no ambition comments. Another greedy
"[i] love this club" badge kisser departs. Let's see whether we replace him or whether the money from the sale falls down that black hole in the board room.
Agree0
Disagree0
I'm a tranmere fan love watching arsenal by far the best 'footballing team' in prem. RVP goin for extra cash that's it wouldn't worry too much he's 29 an without been nasty has been injury free for couple of years must be due a knock! Greed once again wins over love for club!!
Agree0
Disagree0
Dont be disgusted or surprised. Footballers rarely have any loyality to their clubs - only the we the fans do which ever club you support. Its a job nothing more. His dad will be upset! as he said his son would never play for another premiership side - especially those situated in the North West - as did his wife!. I am not sure Man UTD needed him to be honest. Their priority was in midfield. Arsenal will do better than last year. Will that be enough? Lets see. Dont be surprised if we dont bring in another striker though. Up the Gunners keep the faith. Remember its only us that are loyal.. Buxtongooner.. see you all on Saturday!
Agree0
Disagree0
BBC reckon 24 million
Agree0
Disagree0
At Least with Podolski and Giroud, we have two international strikers in thier prime and not replaced RVP with youngsters, a bit different from when Nasri and Fab were sold last year. Like for like has been replaced, so it would seem on paper, and to get £24m for a striker in his last year of his contract is good.
However, the money must be used on the team.
I do feel that this is a make or break season for Arsenal and we will be viewed as closer to United and City and be regarded as 1 of the so called big 3/4, or we will be left behind and move closer to Tottenham/Liverpool / Newcastle, which will affect how Arsenal can do bsuiness in the future and the type of player they can attract and more importantly retain.
If we cannot produce the goods then players will start to see us as a stepping stone and not a team where they can win trophy's and see thier career out.
Overall,The signing's and business looks good so far tho!

So we have won nothing for years- and everyone and his son, keep on reminding us - after the Invincible's we tried to rebuild a team and lets be honest that team has won NOTHING, we have sold/released the entire team, so I say, GET LOST to the lot of them, we are the Arsenal and we will prevail

Yes it stinks that we've sold him to the plastic manc scum, but I assume the club's view was: "the player clearly isn't going to sign a new contract, so let's get as much dosh as we can for the arrogant little weasel and flog him to the highest bidder." And tbh, £24 million for a 29 year old with an injury record like his might not be the worst bit of business we've ever done. He's still a greedy little turncoat with no respect for the club that made him and stuck by him throughout all his time out with injury after injury, so here's hoping he gets crocked the first time he turns out for the plastics. Hope he enjoys life in a rain-sodden bomb site as much as he did in London too.

If Wenger has not agreed a replacement for RVJ before the move to MFC in Debt Ltd, then he is culpable of crassness or in misrepresentation vis a vis the sighning of Giroud remember ( not a replacement for RVJ but an addition)

Totally agree with Redchad, Ecstatic
Agree0

Redchad - if you knew anything about football you'd know you have an enormous hole in your midfield = ours has wishere, cazorla, song, ramsay, diaby, ox, arteta in it. Your team is not going to win jack
Agree0

He will never play as good a season as 11/12 and didn't want to be here so £24 million is very good riddance in my opinion.
Agree0

All, it really doesnt matter how much the fee was. i think we all know we'll be lucky to see a fraction of it re-invested. pretty sure wenger has already commented that replacements have already been brought. this board bends over once again to a rival what a f##kin joke they are the fans deserve much better
Agree0

Absolutely gutted. It baffles me that on a consistent basis there is a lack of loyalty to the club that has nurtured them from obscurity to world class stars. It is getting to the stage that I honestly will be shocked if an AFC player rejects an offer from a barca or city and stays with the club. Song, prove me wrong please.

Well, looks like AFC might be shafted in the Sahin deal. Several journos and the LFC Echo are reporting that Sahin is on his way to Liverpool.
Apparently AFC was his first choice, but Mourinho stepped in and advised and pushed him to go to LFC. Supposedly it has to do with Mourinho'a connection to Rogers from his Chelsea days. Mourinho also told Sahin he would get more playing time at LFC, though that doesn't make much sense because LFC have a glut of MFs, moreso than AFC does. Mourinho has always had a personal vendetta against Wenger, so that possibly plays a part in all this.
Xabi Alonso apparently also advised Sahin to go to LFC.
I still don't think this is all concrete, so I'm still holding out for a deal with Arsenal. Keep your heads up Gooners.

Sahin is not going to liverpool!?
He wants champs league and to play for a team on the up, liverpool were the biggest club in england! That was 25 years ago now they are on the same level as newcastle, everton and spurs!
Alonso left a sinking ship why would he tell sahin to jump on it and get drowned.

I am a Liverpool fan and have heard the same stories/rumours about Sahin. Seems like he will be coming to Liverpool (on loan). Not sure how true the Mourihno thing is ... just because he knows Rodgers I don't think he would recommend Liverpool as he has no link with us (apart from reportedly being a fan in his younger days). No evidence of this but it may be more likely that Liverpool have agreed to pay more towards his wages with Arsenal having their policy in place. I strongly believe that Xabi could have been an influence as he still speaks highly of Liverpool and has openly said he'd love to end his career back at Anfield. Sorry to see Van Persie go to Utd ... however, have always rated Podolski .... good luck for this season ..... Scouse AndyB

Arsenal want Jelavic from Everton. With Mirillas going to Goodison, they'll get him for 15mil. According to an agent I know in Scotland. Would be a fantastic deal, he's world class.

I agree but i think llorente would be a better choice

Jelavic is not world class. Hes a good player for everton, hes a class finisher but his build up play lacks, and with the system we play and i dont think he could play the middle on his own.

AndyLat
Agree0

Everton supporter here, we will not sell jelavic under any circumstances as Mirallas is coming in to be a winger or play off jelavic. Get a life and realise your a club going backwards you only have van persie and he wants to life

Your looking for joke of the day mate
Agree0

? world class? he played in my country for years! I mean the Austrian Bundesliga. There is not even a fix CL-Spot for this leaugue. and he never was top scorer...-.-' calling him top class is like saying chmakh is better than messi and ronaldo combined!!
Agree1
Disagree0
Not a chance of getting jelavic for 15m after the season he had, try nearer 25m. everton will squeeze every last penny out of the transfer. not that everton would sell him at the oment anyway, maybe nxt season he will move on if he has another good yr.
Agree0

Jelavic not quite good enough for Arsenal. Don't see him as any better than Bendtner really - work ethic would be an improvement admittedly but beyond that no.
Stewart
Agree0

Be another signing of intent cannot see it happening .
Agree0

Make sense since they robbed us of mirralas. Also jelavic is a animal.
Agree0

Rodwell's cash less £5m for Mirallas is enough to keep Everton's debts in check for another season. Why sell Jelavic and make your own fans angry. As we will do when RVP goes to MU
Agree0
Disagree0
Behave, jelavic will not join arsenal
Agree0
Disagree0
Jelavic really is not world class. He's a decent finisher but lacks any kind of pace, he'd never be a first pick at Arsenal
Agree0
Disagree0
Everton will never let Jelavic go
Agree0
Disagree0
FIFA rule, no player can transfer to 3 different clubs in a calendar year so you are talkin trash mate
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes jelavic may not be world class, but his finishing is second to none and he does not rely on pace as an asset towards his game, his link up play is excellent and his movement is even better (hense why he scored so easily in the 2nd half of the season).
The poster who says he would not be first pick at arsenal are kidding themselves. Players as they get older tend to lose their pace and if that is their main asset their pretty much f*cked, but jelavic will always remain a top quality striker until retirement as his finishing, technical ability and the ability to read a game very well will never be lost.
People have their own opinions I understand but take it from me, as an everton fan who watches Jelavic week in week out.. I have a pretty damn accurate opinion of him, therefore know that I am right.

Ed, do you think Song will leave for Barca, and if so how much do you think he is worth? I personally wouldnt accept anything less than 20-25m. I also think he losing him would be just as bad if not worse than losing RVP.

Let's ask ourselves, does song actually play a CDM role? I don't think so. Case closed! Cash in and get someone better.

He is not awful. Certainly not Arsenal material but hate this mentality some of the fans of big clubs have that if a player is not an absolute world beater he is automatically s**t or awful. Mirallas is a good player who could make a difference in the EPL but he could just as well fail if things don't go his way. We'll see I suppose

I have heard that he is abrilliant player and his true price should be nearer 20 million. This is arsenal being too slow as usual.

No, here's what will happen. Mirallas will play like rubbishe and get two goals over the course of the season. Against Arsenal he'll fluke a goal, and the commentators will be talking about how we SHOULD HAVE SIGNED HIM LOOK HOW STUPID ARSENE IS because that's what they always do. One commentator was even claiming we should have held on to Silvestre for god's sake, they say absolute b*******

I'm not bothered if we miss out on Mirallas. Despite his impressive couple of seasons at Olympiacos I don't feel that's enough to prove his worth for the prem or Arsenal.
I think we would be much better putting his cost and the wages of Bendtner and co. towards better investments. That way we could actually increase RVPs wages significantly whilst signing a CD, LB and/or CDM, AND still be within the profit from the sales of Cesc and Nasri.
The idea of giving them the Squid is appealing though..
