Is benzema 's agent using arsenal speculation as a gambit to get an improved wage at Real Madrid.

Doesn't seem like this is the marquee striker we are getting (if any)

I'm not in the know so can't speak for certain. But with madrid expected to buy a striker this year his place MAY be under threat, so I'd say his agent was just seeing what options he'd have should he end up leaving.

Do you ever just get the feeling a transfer isn't going to happen? I just cannot picture Benzema in an Arsenal shirt. In spite of his performance yesterday, I do think he's a little overrated. I don't think his goal ratio is as amazing as it should be considering the team he has and the standard of the Spanish league below the top few teams. He is coming up to 27, so it's not like he has a long career ahead of him to justify the 40 million he'd probably cost. He's a player that's been playing a lot of games since a relatively young age. They don't always go on as long as you'd expect; Rooney being an example, Michael Owen also. If he was available for £20million, I'd say it'd be worth a go, as in spite of what I just said, he's a better option than Remy or Bony if available at the right price. But with teams around like psg and Monaco, it's unlikely that he'd be on the market long enough to see his value drop to £20 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

To be honest, I think he is finally hitting his stride and turning his potential into results and positive statistcs

Let's not forget, that the team is not built around him and has had to accept playing second fiddle (third fiddle?) to the high profile players.

If a team were built around him, with the likes of ozil, giroud looking to set him up, I do believe we rack up the goals.

. however, I don't think there is the slightest chance of him joining. sadly.

Second or third fiddle? He starts almost every game now Bob, and in his favourite position.

a) Ed, who are the strikers Arsenal are looking at now? is Balotelli one of them?

b) Do you see Campbell playing for Arsenal next season?

Who I want:
Ruffier/Adler
Aurier/Abate
Khedira/Bender
Campbell
Balotelli/Benzema

c) Ed, is Arsenal interested in all of these players (excluding Campbell, of course)?

{Ed002's Note - GK: Begovic, Ruffier, Marshall

RB: Aurier, Lichtsteiner, Uchida

MF: Schneiderlin, Khedira, Bender, Rabiot, Hughes

FW: Mandzukic, Bony, Morata, Remy, Lacazette, Benzema, Heung Min Son, Di Maria, Balotelli, Vela

Considered but probably won't happen: Sanchez, Kroos, Bernard, Kondogbia, El Shaarawy, Griezmann Batshuayi, Bakkali, Origi, Pedro, Draxler, Song, Gonalons, Abate, Konoplyanka, Calhanoglu

Interest at some point but won't happen: Reus, Martinez, Erkin, Schmeichel, Kouyate, Mandanda, Ucan, Cuadrado, Adil Rami, Santon, Valbuena, Fabregas

Ruffier, Uchida, Williams, Kehdira and Benzema would be a great summer in my opinion!

Can I just ask ed, what happened with Griezman? Read from a few sources that Wenger was really keen, or was it just more rumour nonsense?

Also you've put Hughes on the list of mids. Is that Derbys Will? Be an awesome signing but be more 'one for the future' surely?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Will Hughes, yes. Griezmann to Arsenal is, at this time, unlikely.}

Ed am I right in thinking pejciinovic has gone to lokomotive Moscow now? Also see balotelli has moved from the unlikely options to the likely ones now has anything changed or have we just stepped up our interest? Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, you can take Pejcinovic off the list. There is no "likely" list but there is interest in Balotelli.}

Shooting for he stars Baz.

ed how come IG says Aurier will not be playing for Arsenal but is on your list? Is this another IG "Wenger has a £100, 000 budget" but he cannot spend it.
Thanks for ace chat

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what has been said but Arsenal have actively been trying to get a deal done for Aurier.}

Ed002? Few questions, Just wonderd is there a good chance that Joel Campbell's work permit will be allowed? Also if this is allowed do you think Wenger will still look for a striker? I know he had a fantastic game last night, but I feel we still need a big name striker for extra options.
What's the situation with Aurier? He has said on a couple ocations he wants the move to Arsenal, are we front runners for his signiture?

Cheers!

Believable7 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - (a) Joel Campbell has a work permit already. (b) Mr Wenger is looking for a striker. (c) Arsenal has approached Toulouse about Serge Aurier and there is interest from Monaco and PSG (he is not first choice for PSG). Toulouse will look to hang on to the player.}

Cheers Ed

Ed, do you expect Joel Campbell to be loaned out again or will we keep him next year?

We better get Aurier, I'm going to be absolutely gutted if we don't get him.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I try and avoid expectations Jonny.}

I should know by now Ed really!

How else can I put it? Have Arsenal shown any interest in keeping him? Doesn't make as much sense!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal got him a work permit and sent him on loan for experience so it is reasonable to assumer he will be part of the squad next season.}

That's better, thanks Ed!

So, Aurier just doubled in price.

And that is why, if you're sure a player is the man for you, you move for him early. Watch Monaco splash the cash and price us out of the market.
