Personally I think Sanchez is off to city, now if that is the case and they want him that bad ask for augero if they say no then we say no! Keep him and buy big and he may change his mind if we have a good season if not leave him go.

Lovely idea, but City won't let Augero leave. The problem with your other suggestion is that it could cost us £50m if he runs his contract down. I beieve we may leave it as long as possible this summer in order to drive the price up as the window comes to a close. We have reportedly made an offer for Juventus wide man Cuadrado, possibly a replacement for Sanchez. I can then see us signing a quality fiorward such as Lacazette and selling Giroud. That way, we would increase our attacking options in an attempt to cover the loss of Sanchez.

selling giroud and alexis and replacing them with cuadrado and lacazette is not an improvement but a step backwards.

neither has EPL experience, or cuadrado was not good enough for chelsea, so i don't see the point in trying to get him. or maybe it was as he didn't settle in london.

It's lovely buying new players but what we need and have always seem to lack is quality back up on the bench.

I know mate, but my point is if they want him that bad let's ask for part exchange, 50 million isn't that bad and if we make quality signings and win the league he might stay. with ozil I am not fussed, but if we keep sanchez and make 3 world class signings we will be pushing for for the title. we can only hope mate lol.

All this "he wasn't good enough to Chelsea (or whatever team) " isn't always true on the face of it. For example (s) , Kevin de Bruyne wasn't good enough for Chelsea but works well at Man City. Lukaku wasn't good enough for Chelsea and is great at Everton. Salah wasn't good enough for Chelsea but apparently Kloop thinks he'll be good for Liverpool.

And this isn't just a Chelsea phenomenon as there are plenty of players that don't work out at a club and go on to shine at another.

Awful as it is to say it 50 million doesn't buy you much in today's market. You certainly wouldn't get a player of Sanchez quality, experience, and proven Premier League ability.

Last year we made about 46 million from The Champions League, now allowing for the fact that we are in the Europa league, we will still in all likelihood make 30 million less than the previous year.

If keeping Sanchez allows us to get back into the Champions League and end up higher up the Premier League table, the earnings from this would surely offset the loss if he transferred out on a 'free' at the end of the season .

If we spend all our transfer money buying real quality to add to the players we already have and only lose from the fringes of the squad we may find that the season is good enough for Sanchez to decide to sign a new contract before its end.

The real key is in spending the money necessary to get the absolutely top-flight players who will allow us to be competitive in all competitions. This is the big 'if' here, if we spend the money the market demands for proven quality, then we can be successful, if however we scrimp and try to buy from the bargain bucket we will not improve and the gamble will have failed.

If we add five quality players for fringe players plus replace any players (excluding Sanchez and Ozil) such as Bellarin/ Ospina with similar quality if we get an offer that is just too good to ignore or if the player wants to leave and is not critical to the team, we can be a real threat again. However everything relies on the manager being bold and spending as if he wants to win the champions league not the most frugal manager of the year award.

I would like to see us spend any transfer proceeds on improving the first 11, rather than the squad. Being realistic we are not the sort of club that will ever have a group of 'worldies' sitting on the bench, and let's be honest what top player worth their salt would accept that without causing massive problems? We already have good players for the bench, plus some youngsters who need to be given a regular spot next season (World Cup winning Maitland-Niles for example) so let's blow our budget on one or two individuals who would make a massive difference to our starting 11.
