Does anyone knowif thisrumour has any substance??
All I know is we need a keeper and 2 central defenders
Im a Gooner in the United States & former Newcastle defender Warren Barton is the pre-match, halftime, & post-match presenter for the Premiership over here. He actually said that Shay Given to Arsenal is extremely possible & that he & Given remain good friends after their days together with Newcastle. & that Given seemed keen to join the Gunners

Ed whats your opinion on given to arsenal? whats the chances of this transfer happening or have you heard anything? cheers for your time mate {editor's note - I don't believe that there is a snowball's chance in hell of City selling Given to Arsenal. I still believe it will be Schwarzer joining as soon as Fulham sign a keeper to replace him.}

Ed any truth of the cetin rumours? Sounds like someone we need. . He scares the crap out of drogba. . :D what about any other rumours? {editor's note - I haven't heard anything about a particular defender, unless (like in the Arshavin and Koscielny transfers) a move drags on, nothing normally leaks out from Arsenal anyway, well to people I know anyway.}

Ed any truth in the Buffon rumours as I would love it if he comes {editor's note - I doubt it very much, he has a serious back problem that will only get worse. You really don't want him at the club, he is going to struggle to play for much longer.}

Tasci signing To be announced on Friday morning.
Now wenger will bid for both given and schwarzer, most likely both bids to fail. 5m for schwarzer, 7m given.
Wenger will play fablianski in goal with szczhenzy on loan and mannone and almunia as back up. If almunia departs, mannone with be 2nd keeper with James Shea as third

A deal for Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci is almost complete for an undisclosed fee. Expect a medical in the week and the deal to be complete by friday. He may start against Blackpool as Laurent Koscielny will be suspended.

Arsene is a man who stands by his principles.Both a curse and a blessing. Expect Schwarzer to be an easier target as all three parties are intrested eventhough there is no agreement yet. I doubt Wenger will be making a bid for any German Defender due to price and salary demands.
But desperate times might need drastic measures.

The bid arsene made for Riena was including add ons worth over £18 million so yes he would but not for a keeper without premiership experience. Another bid is still a possibility.

My soures are telling me that arsenal have made a deal with manchester city over shay given {Editor's note....Obviously City don't see the Gunners as a threat to them! Spurs on the other hand are moaning that City won't sell or loan players to them because they are a threat...LOL}

Ed which goalkeeper and defender(s) will Arsene Wenger sign? {editor's note - Schwarzer, I believe, is nailed on, he wants to join and Wenger wants him. I don't know on the defender for definite, other than it is not Mertesacker, but I think it will be Subotic or Tasci.}

Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing a fee for Ajax shot-stopper Maarten Stekelenburg. Personal terms are yet to be agreed but the move looks highly likely. Medical end of the week!

Arsenal will be signing Mark Schwarzer within the next week, after Almunia's shocking display at Anfield. This means that Shay Given also linked with Arsenal will be going to Fulham.
Also Wojciech Szczesny to go out on loan, as Arsene Wenger already has said they he will be a great goalkeeper, but he just needs to more experience.
Arsenal to also bring in a centre back as back up, although he will not play this weekend as he won't have had long enough with the squad. So Song will play centre back. This defender will most likely be an unknown as Wenger won't want to spend a lot on a backup defender.

Warren Barton has let slip that Shay Given to Arsenal is a done deal on the US Fox Soccer Channel. Warren played with Shay at Newcastle for a few years and they are still good friends.

1ST Post today, i want to do a few.
Please please please, stop singing Eboue`s name, it only encourages AW to start him. This guy is not good enough to wear an arsenal shirt, the only thing he brings us is falling over a lot. Which wouldn`t be so bad if we had someone that could take a good free kick.
He was booed for all the right reason`s don`t sing his name out of pity he offers nothing.

ok, arsenal need a GOOD goalie, so arsene wenger is tracking either neuer or adler.
Arsenal also need a GOOD centre back so wenger is tracking jesus. In case he has another season of injury he wants to bring in Keisuke Honda.

I think Wenger is close 2 signing a keeper thankfully as he said in his interview after the match ' we'll not talk about keepers at the moment because it will afect our current keepers confidince'

Servet is devilish. I could hear him breathe and it sent chills down the back of my neck." could he be the answer?
also whats happening with given/schwarzer/frey? and other CBs etc. .? {editor's note - I haven't heard anything new regarding a centreback, Cetin would be a great signing but I haven't heard anything definite on him sorry. Though I think your main priority should surely be a keeper? You aren't going to win anything when your keeper concedes goals like yesterday's.}

Lads I think we are going to struggle if we don't sign some new players.
GK- Has to be Shay Given he is now avaliable so lets stop being cheap and just get him or go and spend over 10 million on Buffon Neuer Lloris or Akinfeev. Either way we need a new keeper.
DEF- Cahill meresacker or Mexes as a comanding centre half and someone like Zapata who can cover a few positions.
MID- Just go and get Melo to compete with Song he has said he would like to play for Arsenal and Juve have said they would let him go.
STR- Also if we need to buy a striker go and get a good English player like Gabby Adbonglar.
This isn't really a rumour because im not claiming at the minute i know things because i do hear rumours some times through my job but that's just what i think Arsenal should do!

Listening to Wengers last interview he mentioned that clubs in Italy and Germany don't want to sell. Putting 2 and 2 together (and probably making 5), I think Wenger is looking at Melo in Italy and a defender in Germany.
Hopefully we'll see some last minute activity. Also hoping that we are looking at the pending fire sale at Man City to pick up a bargin.
Hoping, praying, begging. Please Wenger ffs spend something.

he did say this yes but he did say it was never for definate tbh i think wenger is just saying this so that almunia and fabianski won't be affected mentally for the liverpool game
