Honestly this is getting annoying, song is NOT leaving, wenger said there was nothing in the barca rumours and song wants a new contract.
On the judas case the crest on the front will always be bigger than the name on the back and we will move on like we always do, really couldn't see RVP score as many goals like he did last season and he will probably get injured hopefully.
On potential signings I feel if bendtner and park leave we may add a world class striker mainly llorente or lewandowski. Also we will get Biglia to sure up the midfield instead of sahin and this is not a replacement for song. Also we will add another defender who is versatile and this will be Yanga m'biwa of Montpellier who can play anywhere across the back and this is because Bartley is leaving along with squillaci.

Believable34 Unbelievable25

If this is true the beers are on me. At the moment I'm having trouble believing a word AW says, he seems like a pathalogical liar

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget about what Wenger said publicly. Song's leaving, Arsene is not happy with the behaviour of Song and his agent and he will be replaced this summer.

I think more will come out about Song's recent conduct after his move is finalised but it does seem that he is certain to leave.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is 100% out the door, his words in the press are just to keep fans happy, wenger is not happy and is not prepared to keep a player who acts like this who he feels is replaceable.

lets be real , song title is a Defensive midfeilder but he is not one. i would happily get rid. arteta is a better DM even if we dnt sign another one. (we will though) arteta wilshere cazorla sounds tasty

Agree0 Disagree0

Song may leave is what aw just said on skysports, so he is leaving! I don't believe we will sign either lewandowski or llorente, but I agree with the other 2 rumours about biglia and yanga m'biwa but I believe if song goes Sahin may come in aswell

i have been informed of my source(very top source got all summer activity right so far) that song has been showing a '' terrible attitude '' since barca rumours and contacted has been made, altho his quotes in the press say he would stay, wenger has grown sick of him and feels that now is the right time to move him on and has been told he can leave. sahin deal is tricky because player wants arsenal(arsenal want player too on a loan plus option to buy after) madrid (murinho) doesnt want to sell as he feels he just needs games to grow into the player he no doubt will at whatever club he moves to.

wouldnt be suprised to see arsenal sign a striker as bendtner and park are defo being sold. was told during the summer(after giroud signed) that afobe would be playing first team football next year so that makes me feel with only chamakh and giroud , possiblely podolski and walcott. that we need a new striker , i do know from a source that llorente and soldado(who has publicly said he loves valencia and wants to stay after SPUDS interest.) have been enquired about but thats all it is for now.

as part as the bartley to swansea , we should be signing rangel as our back up RB if no better option is found.

Believable10 Unbelievable26

Just to make it clear we arent 'that' interested in a striker we are enquiring about plenty, niang was the top target along with matias suarez(who has moved elsewhere) but fee's are to high for players who havent proved it, expect rangel and sahin(defo if mourinho doesnt step in and send him to LFC) to be signed soon, simplely everything iv said here is straight from a top source ,

chambo(my rumour and reply)

Agree0 Disagree0

Just remember song is with Darren dein football agent, other players on his books ade, henry, cesc, clichy, Rvp and song. Wenger knows song will not stay. Wenger has already banned dein from the training ground this guy is a w nker

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we need another striker? If, as expected, Bendtner and Park are sold then I think we'll be okay with Podolski, Giroud and Chamakh. We'll most likely continue play with only one striker and that'll probably Giroud because Podolski will play on the left wing. That means that Chamakh will provide cover. I know a lot of people want him out of the club but he's actually a good player and I think he'll do well if given more of a chance.

Charlie

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenals chief scout Grimandi said when we signed Giroud that he is RVP replacement and AW has since confirmed this so don't expect a quality striker to come in because Chamakh make 2 is it. Think about it, when we lose one of our best players, doesn't matter how much money we get for them, when does AW buy a player as good, its always a cheaper option. To improve the team shouldn't he be buying players better than what we have lost or at the very least as good.

Believable28 Unbelievable12

We're going to hijack Liverpool's loan move for Sahin? I thought they hijacked our move for him!

Kyle Bartley is on his way to Swansea,I reckon a new defender is on his way in. My money is on sakho as he can deputise at right back as well as cb.

Believable11 Unbelievable11

Sakho is left footed

After the cazorla news I have no reason to doubt my sources and according to them we are off M'vila ("He is going to be a spud") and at present are contesting for the Anderlecht Midfielder Biglia.
Also according to them Sahin has agreed terms with us and will against the will of mourinho, join Arsenal.

Bad News:
Our promising defender Kyle Bartley is Swansea bound.
Probably due to his medical history(Hernia).

Desi Gooner

Believable18 Unbelievable12

How could you know that Sahin will be joining Arsenal; when he hasn't made the decision himself yet? A number of clubs are agreed in principle to sign him from Madrid. He has to choose between those clubs. Obviously your reliable source must be a psychic?

On top of which just because he said Cazorla would sign doesn't make him reliable. A huge amount of people said Cazorla would sign because it was a no brainer.

And Kyle Bartley didn't leave due to medical history. He left because he wanted regular premier league football that he was not promised with Arsenal. We wanted to keep him as a back up but weren't going to force him to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bartley is hardly promising. Poor infact. Struggle in the SPL. I've watched all Celtic/Rangers games of the past few seasons.

kev88

Agree0 Disagree0

You're deluded sahin can't go against the 'will' of mourinho, tool, its a 1 year loan deal and he won't sanction a deal to a CL competitor, mourinho wants him back, if you're gonna make up crap think about it first!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bartley is not promising.....he was mildly average in the SPL.....I'm an Arsenal and Rangers supporter, I'd take him at Rangers, but not Prem League Material and never will be!! Jay x

AVB has said he will not sign m'vila, think your source needs to knock the dust of his crystal ball

Bartley off to Swansea....

Why are we shifting him instead of Djourou/Squid?

G95

Believable24 Unbelievable3

Djourou is very good for a 4th choice cb and Bartley needs games.

Agree1 Disagree0

Watched him play in spl for rangers was ok but in 1 of the 2 best teams i dont think this is a major loss. Anyone think we shud take judas Adebayor back, he's available for £3M, we all know what he can do. Thoughts

Agree0 Disagree0

Bartley is no great loss. he was injury prone and we always ran rings round him when he came to celtic park

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet half of yous have never seen Bartley play! Hes a horrible defender and is a big liability. He is over aggressive and constantly mis times tackles. Im glad hes gone, Miquel and Djorou are far better

Believable15 Unbelievable8

Do not want, Biglia is almost a lite version of Arteta. He's more suited for a mid-table team.

Reports stating that Song could still possibly stay with Arsenal, provided he sign a new contract. If he doesn't, he's gone. Arsenal still holding out for something in the 18-20£ million pound range.

Also, rumblings on Twitter indicate that Arsenal are keen on hijacking the Sahin deal. As I stated before, I don't think it was set in stone that he was going to LFC. I think he very much wants to come to Arsenal, but many inside Real Madrid are pushing for him to go to LFC.

SkySports also reporting that Luca Biglia is back on Arsenal's radar, if Song does leave.

It should all come together next week, so let us wait and see what happens, and what moves are made. Keep your heads up lads.

IMO I think that if Arsenal sell Song then this will be a bigger loss than RVP, as he was one of the main players last year & he stood out. Also he's expressed his desire to sign a new contract so why sell him?!

Thought on this Ed & fellow Gooners?

(Can you put this on the rumours page Ed)

Believable11 Unbelievable13

Song is average at best the reason we haven't won in recent years is because the player aren't good enough Rvp and song are doing us a favour get rid of this lot of over paid under achieving bunch of no nothing rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is average? Cos anyone can tackle, dribble and pass to his quality? I agree with this post, 90% of RVPs goals last year could have been scored by anyone, even Nicklas bendtner as they were tap ins

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a miles bigger loss than RVP but good luck to songo

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2012 18:17:05
Seems fellow gooners are in panic on this page. Lemme share with u sumthing. Im not reliable, but my friend knows a very reliable journalist and he told him that wenger denied song rumours just to pressurize barca to match their valuation. Actually, santi was bought to be the creative hub in our team and thats why wenger wants a solid and a natural defensive midfielder. Fortunately, M'villa is Arsenal bound and will be even announced till 25.
Not just, a striker will be purchased surely to replace rvp. And he even went on to say one more player will be in. Meaing 3 players are coming in.

Trust me, i kno that guy and he's immensely reliable.

Believable8 Unbelievable11

Song is over rated, we have better attacking players and defensivley he is prone to ignoring his duties, get 15-20 million and get a real CDM, maybe Sahin or probably Mvila.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know that we're panicking...just a bit pi$$ed off!

I for one am still buzzing about the coming season!

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't even make sense. I doubt you know anyone in the 'know'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger just publicly claimed that Podolski and Giroud were bought in case of Van Persie's departure...As for Song, this rumour seems to be picking up pace and Sunderland may be the last Premier League match he plays. Hopefully we M'Vila, as this will release Arteta, Carzola or whoever is in midfield of some of the defensive duties.

Alex Song will leave Arsenal in the next 24 hours. He will be replaced by Yann M'Villa next week. Both fees will be around £15m.

Nuri Sahin will go to Liverpool.

Believable11 Unbelievable27

Just read that Barcelona have met Arsenal's valuation of £15MILLION for Song, surely bullsh*t he's worth at least £20million, it's from I don't know how reliable they are.

Believable25 Unbelievable38

Dont listen to fake reports just wait until sky or bbc say it

Agree0 Disagree0

Supposedly Song is demanding a move and refusing to play if we don't let him join Barca.

It's put us in a position where we need to get him out the door as quickly as we can and Barca are the only club in for him. Difficult to haggle in that situation.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

To put into perspective I think we paid £13m for Giroud, £10m for Podolski and £17.3m for Cazorla. How do you rate Song against those 3 players and would you say he's worth more than them.

Bergkamp's apprentice

Agree0 Disagree0

The rumour has hardened to Arsenal agreeing £15 for Song to Barca, we know this is true as Wenger likes to sell in pairs or threes (Clichy,Cesc and Nasri) more sales more money

Agree0 Disagree1

15mil is way too low for an experienced player considering allen cost 15mil it shud be atleast 20mil or 15mil and tello or affelay

Agree0 Disagree0

What?! "Wenger likes to sell in pairs or threes (Clichy,Cesc and Nasri)"?! Tried to hold on to all of them and was (increasingly) visibly shaken as each subsequent one left. Also, to pick and choose a player's value based on what has been paid for someone else is just ridiculous - why not base it on the price that was paid for Anelka (maybe £150,000ish?) or Jeffers (about £80m?). Bergkamp's Apprentice makes an excellent point - £15 million is a fair price provided it is reinvested wisely.

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy above who thought we might sell him to Barca for £15 may not be right.

Agree0 Disagree0

If song was to go and mvila arrive for around the samemoney, would it really be so bad ? or even to bring back diarra? if his head has been turned, let him go. if he thinks he can get in a midfield/forward line consisting xavi iniesta busquets mascherano villa fabregas messi pedro then i wish him luck and look forward to watching him as a emergency cback in spanish cup games next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone agree that we need to replace van p with a wide player not striker? pod giroud and walcott(contract allowing) can rotate for central spot, with ox gervinho calvin zola rotating wide withpod and theo. for me one more wide player such as johnson frim man city is plenty. if theo goes then look at sturridge, if song goes any of previously mentioned dms is adequate. 3 mid places rotated between song/ newguy. arteta wilshere frimpong ramsey coq rosicky is plenty for me. losethe deadwood in bendy arsh chamak squid and all good in my eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Evening Standard yesterday reported that Wenger(some artistic licence here) had a working relationship only with Song and he doesn't care if he goes because Song does not perform the function he is meant to do for the Club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that song doesn't perform to his task. Sure,he got some nice assists last season, but he's a defensive midfielder and instead of setting up goals up the field,he should be concerntrating on preventing the goals being leaked in and if he stuck to this job, maybe we wouldn't have dropped so many points from conceding so many goals. If I was a manager,I'd want a defensive midfielder to defend--not go looking for the glory

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2012 13:15:52
AW won't bring in players, surrounded by a media-hype. He likes to bring in players who are great but aren't featured in the media that much.

Don't get me they're will be big players coming in just not at a price elevated because of interest from other clubs.

So forget about the 25-30 mil signings of Lewandowski, Llorrente, ... and expect another player that isn't overly featured in the press.

Just really hope that if Song is also leaving AW brings in someone who can excite the fans, someone we can't wait to see in Arsenal shirt, someone like the three we've already brought in.

Van Persie has now been officially taken off the Arsenal.com team list. The reality is kicking in, sad times indeed.
But we will move on, we've lost great players before now, and we dust ourselves off and fight for silverware, as we always do. Only this year I have a true belief we can win a major trophy,
it's just a shame RVP didn't have the same belief.

Believable32 Unbelievable9

Van Persie was in reality off the list at the end of last season. We have signed 3 quality players who will more than compensate for the sale of Van Persie. More worrying is the possible sale of Song, unless a quality replacement has been lined up.

Agree1 Disagree0

RVP is just one player! We all need to move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunno what website ur looking at but van Persia is still on the official arsenal website on the teamlist

Agree0 Disagree0

Move on gunners you got 24mil for a player that had 2 good seasons in 8 and last year of contract.I am a Liverppol fan and think Wenger is the best manager in the world for buying and progressing players just look at what you have got top 3 RB in prem Sangna when fit 2 good solid centre backs the best 2 young english players in the prem in Ox and Wilshire a great buy in Santi for 15mil Walcott who i do like. The only problem i can see is if Song goes should keep him and go out and buy a top top class forward they say A Madrid willnt sell Falcoa but money talks and Arsenal have alot of it he would be perfect 4 you fox in the box can head 2 good feet you lot will still finish above Chelsea

F**k RvP, he's proved that his just as much of a judas traitor as Adebayor & Nasri (if not worse) but lets move on, we support Arsenal Football Club not individual players!!

So we've sold RvP for £24m and possibly Song to Barca for £18m but as long as the club re-invest the money straight away it won't be a bad thing.

I'm hearing though that both Llorente and M'Vila will be signed by the end of next week (Fingers Crossed) along with 1 other outfield player??

Hope the rumours are true!

Believable29 Unbelievable17

Why isnt Fabregas a judas traitor then?
and henry?
and viera?
and clichy???

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger said they signed Podolski and Giroud because he knew RVP would leave. I dont expect another striker to come in.

If they did want to impress the fans they should go for a player like Neymar. Throw the RVP money to sign him and RVP's wages offer to sign him.

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know wenger he will not buy a replacment for either rvp or song. dont see llorente coming but maybe m'vila. but his atitude both on and off the pitch are a concern

Agree0 Disagree0

Mvila to come in i doubt another top striker

Agree0 Disagree1

Well chuffed RVP has finally gone. Song however, that would be devastating. That could be what stops us from winning anything and falling out of the champ league spots.

Agree0 Disagree0

The later is attracting interest of juventus....Wenger slready stated he will not bring in anymore forwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please not m'vila maybe that tubby kenyan bloke from celtic he's simple and effective

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, makes a lot of sense to spend more money on a soon-to-be 28 year old striker than we got for a 29 year old striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas came to us from Barcelona and always wanted to go back, viera and Henry went abroad and so didn't play for a direct rival and clichy is a judas money grabbing whore... We all know that. ( this is a reply tithe second post) and seriously if you think that money will e reinvested you are deluded. Any arsenal fan who has been a fan for longer than 7 years will know we won't reinvest. He's said he's not buying
A replacement striker already. It's a myth... Where did the money from fab and nasri and clichy and Henry go? The fact of the matter is that we have become a feeder club due to the joint ownership at the top level of the club. We need an usamanov take over ASAP as he would surely bring Dein back and with him the glory days.

A rumour that does nothing but rub salt in the wounds ...
A reporter who supposedly has great United links has said it's an initial £15m fee for RVP, with further payments based on Van Persie's appearances, goals and silverware won as a United player. It could end up at £22m, although Arsenal are convinced it could go to £24m.

Hope this is not true

Believable13 Unbelievable35

I dont think the Arsenal board would have agreed to that considering his history with injuries (appearance fees) and the fact that UTD have too much rivalry for FA Cup & the league

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

If its true... all I have to say is, so man u don't expect the add-ons to be fulfilled? What no appearances, goals or silverware? Oh well not looking good for utd then...? I know addons are addons but if they are worth 8mil or whatever, lets be honest there is a chance he'll meet the criteria, so it will end up being 24mil or close. But of course it will cost utd more anyway... more 50/60 mil if you include rvp's wages, agents fees, vat, etc. with no re-sale value and potentially being croak at anytime... I actually think its 50/50 who has the better deal here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I herd 22mil upfront and 2mil addons....

This rumour has been proven false, it is 22m+ addons

Wenger says we won't be signing a RVP replacement as "we already recruited to replace him"

This to me means poldi is going to be used as a striker to interchange with Giroud, plus take the number 10 shirt.

The main point here is its now worth gambling on getting podolski #10 on my shirt!

D

Believable66 Unbelievable12

I suppose I have to ritualistically burn the jersey as well? And maybe hire a shaman to place some bad juju on rvp?
-James R

Agree0 Disagree0

It a tactic. Desperation or the appearance of it diminishes your negotiation power. Same reason after Fabregas he didn't seek first class replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poldi already wore 9, which was Park's number. So there is a free number for another forward :P

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

If Park, Chamakh and Bendtner all leave we will need to bring in another striker.

Also Wenger will be saying we do not need anyone to put us in a stronger position for negotiating any transfer

Agree0 Disagree0

It was clear all along that Van Pussy was off & that the 2 strikers we signed are his replacements. Assuming we play 4-2-3-1, then the sole striking role will be Giroud, Podolski & possibly Walcott on occasions. The right attacking role, will be Walcott & Oxlade, the left attacking role Gervinho & Podolski, so the central, left & right attacking combinations will come mainly from Walcott, Oxlade, Giroud, Podolski & Gervinho. The additional player to cover these attacking positions, will be either Arshavin or Chamakh, depending on whether either or both depart. Only if both depart would I expect an additional forward to be signed.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Wenger we were not signing Carorla either, I expect us to do some more business before the end of the transfer window

Agree0 Disagree0

£24 million for an injury prone one season wonder, I would take that!

Agree0 Disagree0

He also said we need a natural dm and than rvp would stay! so ya cant realy take him at his word ! i expect 3 players to join before the window closes with song going ! then a forward to com in, in january!

RICK DALLAS

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this an actual quote? the only piece of relevant evidence i have heard was Grimandi saying we signed Giroud early so we definitely wouldnt go into the new season too light on CF options. but this didnt mean that we wouldnt sign anyone if RVP left. ed, do you think we will be recruiting another striker?

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger also said we weren't in for Giroud, Cazorla & many more but we signed them though. Never play poker with Arsene............

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't rush into getting that shirt. I reckon Cazorla might take #10 and Poldolski #9.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger also denied we after Podolski wait Untill the window closes.

we will reinvest in the team maybe not another striker but more players will come!Eds?

The board are a disgrace and dont give a rubbish about the welfare of the club, top 4 team in england and one of the biggest in the world? i doubt that very much! expect to see song out of the door within the next few days and a few more may well be leaving yet. walcott still hasnt signed a new deal! massive problems for the club and for people to say we are in a better situation than we were last year? you talk rubbish especially if we lose alex song!

Podolski 9

Pold is only player not to be submitted with a # that is why he wasnt given a number yet, he will wear the number 10. and watch when rvp officially leaves it wont contain the words in afc statement " we wish robin success" players who leave like this never get that, nasri, cole, adebayor, toure, clichy and now rvp

How can Arsenal's board justify this Sale. First they sell to of our best players last season. One to Barcelona and the other to City who justified the players claims by winning the League. We start the season badly and get trashed by United, yet you sell our most prolific scorer to the team that humiliated us last season.

It seems arsenal have conceded top spot to city and Manu and only fight for 3rd place. Lets just assume this is true. When you consider that Chelsea have strengthened, does this not increase the possibility that we might be competing for 3rd place with the very team you have sold our best player too. Did it not occur to the Board that this player might just be the difference between achieving that goal or not.

This is just poor. This is the biggest slap in the face ever.

If the wants too go he wants to go - 20m+ the best we could do

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal could invest a billion dollars in players and thrash every other team on the planet... But if they did, I'd start supporting another team. I much prefer to support exciting underdogs with a sustainable business model who have to fight for a champions league spot. And perhaps one day these underdogs will surprise me and beat those billionaire teams to the premier league or champions league. Now that would be fun and would show the world that money does not trump loyalty and hard work. For now, and for as long as your wishes don't come true MiracleGunner, the team I support is Arsenal. If you're after a club with unlimited money and don't value loyalty, why don't you do what Nasri or Van Persie have done and switch to another team?

Agree2 Disagree2

It seems clear that Wenger's hand was forced on this, by his own board. I don't believe he would have painstakingly arranged training and friendly games to get rvp's fitness up so that we can then give him away fit and healthy?
Near identical case with Na$ri last season.
Blame the board, not Wenger. He is the one that we can definitely not afford to lose.

-chane

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did Wenger say this. Surely we need to bring in another top striker now, what both Poldolski and Giroud are unproved qualities and what if one gets injured?

Agree0 Disagree0

A 30 year oild in the last year of his contract with a shaky fitness record...24 mil is a good return

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people just dont understand modern day football and how clubs run. RvP didn't want to sign a new contract, end of story. Move along

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel terrible getting the news this morning but considering that he is injury prone and doesnt play well outside of arsenal (national team for example) I think getting 20m out of him is not that bad. I would love him again if he can get 200k/w and a long term injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

We got one good season in eight out of RVP; he is fragile and he is 29 - I do not think he will dramatically improve Man Utd they are still weak at the back and in midfield. It is great to get GBP20m for a player of that fragility and age. I just hope we reinvest.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it's not Wengers fault then why does'nt he speak out about the players being allowed to run down there contracts. I think he is to blame as nuch as the board.

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree with comments about owners. check pompey out :) also chelsea will be 4th at best i think i can see a manchester one two tho.

tevez back i stil think its citys title. theyl get agger in and one more player.

im happy with podolski and giroud instead of persie. id like to see us sign defensive mid and a defender and back up goalie

apc

Agree0 Disagree0

Nort many player leave arsenal an hit the form they did at arsenal. only ashley cole who i agree for the sake of 5grand a week we should of kept.

nasri isnt the same player he was for me. in silvas shadow everyweek. cazorla is so much better then nasri

Agree0 Disagree0

Even teams such as United have lost top players such as Ronaldo & Tevez. We sold Nasri for £25m with a year to go. We sold Fabregas for approx £35m as he wanted to go & we have now sold Van Pussy for £24m with a year to go. This totals £84m. We have signed Carzorla, Areteta, Giroud & Podolski for apprix £48m, hence a profit of approx £36m & will this make us weaker? I prefer Cazorla to Nasri. Controversially, I believe Arteta is a better all round player than Fabregas, its just a shame he is 30. I believe that having Giroud & Podolski is more beneficial than placing all your eggs in one basket with Van Pussy. If Wenger can retain Song, add a further defensive midfield player & a forward/left side player, we will have a formidable squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everyone making out like its doom and gloom? yes van persie was class last year but someone will always stand up for our club. before van persie their was adebayor before that henry. The cologne game showed us that their is life after van persie. Cazorla giroud and podolski linked up well and in cazorla we have the man we have been craving to pick a part a defence. this is a stronger arsenal team than last year even without van persie. thank you for 8 years now lets move on and show why we are one of the biggest clubs in the world!!

JoshA

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the other poster, I love the club have done since I was a boy , of course it pains me to see good players leave. But they have left us before and the club will remain. This is not a level playing field .. get over it . Players have their own career goals and agendas and the club will not always be able to enforce their wishes on those individuals. Man city have a limitless supply of money , Chelsea have funding source not based on their tickets sales or commercial ventures. Man Utd have been leveraged to the max but still their commercial power means they can afford wages we cannot... We are one of Europes top teams and prove this year in year out.... will we win something? .. yes .. one day .. thats football. btw miraclegunner , the board can justify this because it just makes common sense ,,, of course we could have kept him for one more season.. but with 24m to collect on a player that we bought for a 10th of that and has only really produced a single truly outstanding season and next year could have little to no resale value even to Manu .. why is that poor or a slap in the face ?

Sorry but to the person a few above I can't consider anyone a true fan and value there opinion that says if they did that I'd support another team. No way on earth would a TRUE fan say they'll support another team!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is so bad...selling our best player to the league rival...
i know it wont sound good but ..just imagin what difference it makes if we cut the RVP's las seasons goals. we could have had same fate as liverpool result wise.

EVEN THOUGH WE DID GOT 3RD SPOT it was solo act of RVP. other than rvp our remaining team is no match for chelsea, city n manu. plus dont count spurs n liverpool, if any one of them has a good season...we are in a battle for 4 again...
and that sucks.

Agree0 Disagree0

We had no choice. The mistake is allowing the contract to run down. RvP made it clear he wanted to leave and his non-plus performance on Sunday underlined his attitude. £24M for a 29 year old is good business

Agree0 Disagree0

Who the hell wrote comment number two? "I'd rather support an underdog with sustainable business model"? What sort of fans are we becoming? I want to support a team that attracts the best players, who want to sign for a team that they want and can win trophies with. Everyone likes an underdog but when that underdog is in the top 5 richest teams in the world then something is seriously wrong. I do not profit financially or emotionally from supporting a team with a positive bank balance. I would profit by thinking that my team were on the same page as the fans as far as success/trophies are concerned.

Jon (occasional contributor but constant reader of this site)

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we need 3 strikers we cant play them all at the same time we only need a future striker someone like niang.
Aah

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Persie won't be a big loss. He had ONE injury free season in 8 years and only started 211 games. Fabregas, Clichy and Hnery were bigger losses.

Agree0 Disagree0

The situation was in part created by the Club's perceived "lack of ambition" by not investing (or spending) on "name" players in the past, and in turn allowing certain players such as - Fabregas to leave.

Unfortunately the Club was placed in an impossible position when Van Persie made it clear that he wanted "out" ... sell to the highest bidder or allow him to go for zilch next season? Now I'm sure the Club would have preferred to sell him abroad, however a club like Juventus was never really going to buy him simply because the don't actually have the funds, and Real Madrid were never going to pay crazy money for him, so the only real bidders were City or United.

Loyalty in football nowadays rarely exists, so where fans may look at it and think - how can a player move to a rival such as United? the player (in most cases) merely sees it as quitting one employer for another.

Whilst it does grate me that Van Persie is going to United and old Blue Nose will be lauding it over everyone once again (Sky Sports News must be working themselves into a stupor especially Jim White), as it would City ...£24 Million is at least some consolation, although I'd still rather the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Where did Wenger say this. Surely we need to bring in another top striker now, what both Poldolski and Giroud are unproved qualities and what if one gets injured?"
Is this site peopled by 11 year olds? LP is a top international striker and Giroud was virtually single-handed in winning Ligue 1 for Montpellier. Crucially both of them also have exceptional resilience to knocks. Giroud can actually score as many from his head as feet, which means our CF might not now be taking corners!

Agree0 Disagree0

This the first time I have ever wanted a stranger to me in Rvp to fail
For me this is like sol coming to us from the lane only this time Rvp will not win the double

Agree0 Disagree0

Look Man if a player wants to go let him go. It only hurts the team in the long run

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont fight for third! Chelski is better than last year. We will fight for fourth, fifth or sixth.

Agree0 Disagree0

We sold the person because he wanted to leave...not because he wasn't wanted...not because his God like status at the club was in question or anything to that effect... it's plain and simple. He thinks Man Utd or rubbishty can win something. To be perfectly honest, I think rubbishty will bring some metalware home.. but Man Utd? Not this season... check back with me when this season is over. Man Utd's midfield is rubbishe. Carrick?Oh FFS

Agree0 Disagree0

It is dissapointing that we are losing our captain yet again, but hopefully the new skipper will be TV and he will surely be more vocal for a start. We have cried out for the club to buy quality players and Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla are just that - quality. RVP had made his mind up to go and there was not a lot that Wenger could have done. I strongly belive that we will finish above Man U this season as we have 3 new international players, a fit Diaby (fingers corssed), the Ox will be unleashed and of course, let's hope Jack Wilshere returns in the short term - effectively 5 additions to last season's squad. Also, who knows if the spending is finished. Let's get behind the team and Wenger and stop bleating!

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal Board are not and have never been Fans of the Club, they are upper class knobs who have found a cache cow since SKY. When the Chairman Peter Hill- Wood sold his heritage in Arsenal to David Deine (a real Arsenal fan) with the remark " it is dead money you know boy"

Agree0 Disagree0

"Sorry but to the person a few above I can't consider anyone a true fan and value there opinion that says if they did that I'd support another team. No way on earth would a TRUE fan say they'll support another team!"

I never claimed to be a "true" fan, whatever that means and i couldn't care less what you think of me to be honest. I don't even know you or anything about you aside from the fact that you are severely dyslexic or haven't yet finished high school. I support an idea, not a team. But for the last 15 years that idea has best been materialised by Arsenal: exciting to watch + not stupidly buying/bribing its way to the top. I'm cheering for Arsenal, not b*tching about them and their manager like so many "true" fans.

Jon: Where do you think some of those other rich teams get their money?Arsenal are one of the richest teams in the world because of good business dealings, not because money is being poured in by corrupt oligarchs who steal their country's resources (Chelsea) and employ slave labour (Man City, PSG) to get where they are. I don't want to profit emotionally from the misery of others, especially not for something as trivial as winning the PL. I'm happy to see Arsenal win their games most of the time, and they do. So i'll stick to my guns... 3rd place is SUCCESS and if Arsenal start lose their ethics in order to win trophies then sorry but i'm out.

Been told Remy deal was only waiting on that Man u bidding more than 20 mill and now all Arsenal have to do is dot the i's and cross the t's. Er, don't think so. Interest from Juventus has been reported but there are no official reports that he has signed.

If Arsenal want him, I think that you're really well placed to get him and I think that he would be a perfect fit for your style of play.

If you do get him, given the other signings that you've made, I think that you will have a really strong shot at the League this season.
