Rangers fan here, jst wondering if anyone has heard bout Kyle Bartley comin bk to rangers on loan or permanently, the big man only played a handful of games but looks like hel b a very good player

Believable14 Unbelievable2

Yeah he looks a good prospect- haven't heard anything for a fact, but I think some on here were saying he will be staying at arsenal this season, as back-up, carling cup, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

I very much doubt he will be sold from Arsenal. Loaned at most.

I have just had a thought, should we try and get hleb as part of the fabregas deal could be useful if we cannot agree on valuation and could be a useful squad player, we would still need to spend the money on a new player(maybe mata or benzema)

Believable1 Unbelievable20

I thnk hleb moved to birmingham...moreover he is past his prime...sad to see how his career turned out

Agree0 Disagree0

'sad to see how his career turned out' LOL, put him in a care home he can't do anything anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt hleb say he would play for free for arsenal if given the chance. sounds good get rid of denilson and stick hleb on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

That was only a loan to birmingham, to my knowledge hes back to barca. he did look pretty poor last year but maybe he could rediscover his form. or turn out like ros**tsky...

Agree0 Disagree0

Hleb was a fantastic player for us and ide love to see him back , not sure how good he still is tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Scored 3 goals in the time he was here, not a fantastic player, greedy get, moved on , good riddance

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want Hleb anywhere near our club again after how happy he seemed to be headed to Barca. Not to mention he clearly has very little to offer any more

Agree0 Disagree0

All you anti-Hleb peeps know nothing. Hleb was quality at AFC and you don't just go from quality to crap overnight. Hleb himself said that he had made a mistake leaving Arsenal. But then again all you haters never made a mistake huh?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hleb was a quality player while he was here, even though many will use his numbers to argue against that. But just because he admitted his mistake in leaving the club does not mean we should all be happy to have him back. There's a reason he has barely played for Barcelona since leaving and his form for Stuttgart and Birmingham over the last couple seasons in no way suggests he will magically improve if he returns.

what about mark van bommell for one season.sit in front of the back four and direct operations from there.

Believable19 Unbelievable24

Van Bommel extended his contract for 1 more year

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont need him got frimpong

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont need him got frimpong?? You might aswell be AW. I'm sorry but its views like that why we are we are at the mo. Dont get me wrong Frimpong will be a great player for us, I have no doubt but he is not ready yet Like all the ppl that try to defend Djorou, he is not good enough simple as that, and Wenger keeps backing them and not bringing in replacements and so we remain weak defensively. Im am not saying these players are awful just not good enough to be in a side that is expected to challange on all fronts. Im sure Djorou could play for an Everon or a Bolton but not Arsenal, we should be aiming higher. In my opinion Frimpong should be loaned out to a lower EPL side or even Championship side for a seaon or 2 until ready then he can come back and fight for first team football, like how we loaned out Wilshere, now look at him, If Wilshere would have started for Arsenal a season or 2 ago it wouldnt have worked. Now I also dont think that Van Bommel is the answer, we have Song but we do not have another player in the squad that can do what he does if he is not there or to push him for a place. In my opinion we should be aiming for De Rossi, Cambiasso, Mascherano and such like, but the way we are going no players of this calibre will have any interest in joining Arsenal soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I never reply to threads but mate....Van Bommel is a complete DONKEY, If you watch Holland in the world cup he just kicked people & mislaid passes.

I'm surprised he mad it to the final without getting sent of and banned, bad move for the Arsenal, he would never be able to keep up with the way we play, or even the prem pace.

song is not a top defensive midfield man.he cant tackle for a start which is not good in that position.i know people keep saying on here we dont think wenger will sign a def mid, but the reality is we need to.if you like me think song is way overrated vote.

Believable20 Unbelievable25

I hate it when people say song is overrated. no he isn't. if he is deployed to sit infront of the back four then he will do it and he will do it well. Remember the United game where rooney didn't get a sniff? Song had him in his back pocket the whole game. The reality is Wenger doesn't tell him to sit infront of the back four. the 3 in the middle rotate in their duties I.E if wilshere and fab go forward then song will stay back, if song and fab go forward then wilshere will sit back

Agree0 Disagree0

No need in signing a def-mid, we have frimpong coming in this season

Agree0 Disagree0

I think overrated is harsh... but his not the solid DM we need. imo his a very squad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

COULDN'T AGREE MORE, A TOP DEF MIDFIELDER IS SOMEBODY LIKE VIEIRA, KEANE, DE ROSSI ETC.

IF WE WANT TO BE A TOP NOTCH TEAM THEN SONG SHOULD BE COVER FOR DEF MID AND CB BUT NOT A GUARANTEED STARTER.

WOULD HE START FOR BARCA ? REAL ? THE JUVE OR UNITED TEAM OF THE EARLY 2000'S ? OR EVEN THE ARSENAL TEAM THAT HAD VIEIRA OR PETIT ? NO CHANCE.

WE ALL NEED TO REALISE THAT HE IS EITHER GOOD ENOUGH TO START FOR A " GOOD SIDE " OR GOOD ENOUGH FOR COVER FOR A " GREAT SIDE "

HE IS GOOD BUT NOT GREAT .. SIMPLE AS THAT.

Agree0 Disagree0

THE LAST TIME WE HAD A PROPER DM PLAYER GIBERTO SILVA WAS ON THE BOOKS

Agree0 Disagree0

He may not be GREAT but he saved us more times than he let us down last season In my opinion he was one of the reasons that we came 4th and not 5th or 6th, nuff said

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love a player in the de rossi mould, but i think far more likely will be promoting from within, and i think, along with song who i think is a perfectly good dm, frimpong should be given a chance to step up. ive heard good things, anyone think he'll make 1st team squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

To come 4th instead of 5th or 6th ? u could argue that he is a reason we came 4th and not 3rd or 2nd....

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the 2nd post, in the trio of Song, Fabregas and Wilshere we have a brilliant midfield as they are equally good in attacking and defending, for me all we need is a quality centre back, a left back and a replacement for Bendtner.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Song was to sit and actually play the defensive midfielder role, then we would be a better team, no doubt. We leave ourselves so open because everyone bombs forward and leaves the defence exposed. We should still without doubt sign a new centre back, but i think that a new defensive midfielder or Song deciding to do his job properly then we would be much more solid defensively.

JH.

Agree0 Disagree0

I spent years hating him & demanding that he be sold (along w/ Diaby, Bendtner, & Denilson). A couple years ago, I started changing my tune though. He's really come along well. He battles hard and wears his heart on his sleave.
We need defenders... not a DM.

Agree0 Disagree0

Frimpong? Are you AW? He is nowhere near ready yet, not if we wanna challange for honours anyway, in a few years he might be who knows. We are Arsenal for crying out load not West Ham. We should be signing the best players in the world, not saying lets give this youth player who has never played an EPL game before to step straight in. Its this type of view that means why we are where we are at the mo, winning f*** all.
I also agree with he post about De rossi, this is the type of player we should be aiming for, not settling for Frimpong

Hopeful Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Want to moan about our central midfielders try Denilson (who doesn't pass forward) or Diaby (who despite his potential, absolutely nothing happens when he gets the ball).

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO, if you look at it, the part of last season that we struggled the most was when song was hurt. we had no one to sit in that hole (although he likes to bomb forward sometimes), diaby aint a holding player, and denilson...is denilson. enough said. de rossi would be ideal but cant see the boss going for him. song just needs to sit in the hole and be content with his role of not scoring goals and we'd be a better team.

In arsene we trust?

Agree0 Disagree0

If Wenger doesn't wind up signing another CB (but please do Arsene), any chance Song will partner TV5 in the back 4? I believe he (Song) plays there for the Cameroon national team... and he may be more reliable than Kos or Djourou. Ramsey and Wilshere look quite capable to control the central midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people here are just idiots that take scousers as the ones in the know if any of you guys really call yourselves die hard arsenal fans and watch every SINGLE game like i do, you would know that we are lucky not to have Song asking for a transfer He is simply amazing. Just because few people talk about him it doesn't mean he is not as good as De Rossi and players as such in his position. Are you guys out of your marbles?? This guy i the future, you have no idea how technically gifted Song is as DCM, he sometimes has the touch of a super slow, Sergio Batista. My dear friends, watch more Arsenal games then judge the gaffer's choice of starting him game after game and never looking for a replacement for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't rate Song as a 1st team DMF either. Don't get me wrong, he's not a donkey, but he is no more than a squad player for me.

All players, but especially central players, must have the (natural) ability to read the game. That's why even slow players can be good. Better to be in the right position at the right time than be very quick and have to make up ground.

To me Song lacks this and subsequently positions himself poorly, which results in him having to make up ground (now that maybe as a result of instructions with regard to the tactics and shape, but it is one of the reasons why we tend to be exposed). It takes time to make up the ground and by the time he does, play has moved on. He then has to make a challenge due to the danger and this is more likely to result in a foul.

He then looks slow and clumsy.

If you watch the best DMFs they close more play down by being in the right place at the right time than they do by actually tackling.

I'd like to see a more experienced DFM brought in. This would help both Song and Frimpong.

Long time Gooner, short time lurker.

P.S - it's imperative that we have the ability to shut teams out at 1-0 if needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but i think last season song was one of our better players and we need another player like him in the team. He gets stuck in with his tackles can create chances and even score if we had another player similar to him in the team arsenal would be a better side and we wouldnt get bullied by the likes of stoke etc

Agree0 Disagree0

He goes missing and is also a little lazy - he has loads of potential though as does Diaby - along with a couple of others they really need to step-up this coming season or we should get shot of 'em.

Hey lads, what's the current score? Who scored? Who's playing well? Who's playing crap? Sorry for all the questions my Arsenal player is down :/. Cheers.

Ben {Ed002's Note - This might help:

HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL ON THE INTERNET (WITH THANKS TO RED LENIN)
1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Hi Ed everytime i come on here i love hearing about Mata Benzema Hazaard etc but i think as a attacking force we are a match for anyone going forward wih the exception of Barca but i would love to see us build from the back if we was to add 2 CBs hopefully Cahill and Subotic and even get Scot Parker on a season long loan this would give us the steel at the back we need would you agree or do you think we do need to add to the attacking side of the team.......

In the league last season we were the best away team, it was our home form that let us down. Comparing with ManU we only conceeded 3 goals more at home than they did (15-12) but they scored 16 more goals at home than us. That was the problem, we have to be more effective at opening up packed defences.

Agree0 Disagree0

EXACTLY. Arsenal are good going forward against teams that also like to go forward, but that top 5% of creativity needed to break down 11 men behind the ball - arsenal lacked it last year. Even in the friendly match today, arsenal didnt have it. Arsenal need another creative midfielder OR a striker with great movement that will help the midfielders find a pass. RVP isnt the quickest guy in the world, defenders will play high because they know they will catch him.

Heard arsenal are trying to sign Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell... he looks decent and has scored some quality goals, would do as great back up for van persie and is a bargin @£2mil.. hopefully we sign Benzema, we would have a great strike force then even though goals have never been a problem.

Arsenal are REPORTEDLY in negotiations for Costa Rican wonderkid Joel Campbell, watched this kid in the copa America and made a comment to a mate 'why dont Arsenal sign him, hes a kid and quality', want this to happen He would cost around a mill... We would however need to apply for a special visa... Hes a quality youngster on what i have seen, and i know its experience we need and not more kids, but atleast if we are signing kids we are signing great talent... And people need to calm down with moaning about Wenger and what he has done in this window, calm down the window has been open jus over 2 weeks and we have signed Gervinho for 10.6m and earlier Jenkinson for 1m, we will sign an experienced defender for around the same value, and possibly a replacement for fabregas when he finally gets released by his captures Arsenal, who are demanding a ransom to allow him regain his freedom and return to his home Barcelona (anyone else think we should report Barca for tapping up, alow the deal to go through and than report them, that would be a victory for alot of teams, they need to grow up) maybe Barcelona actually need to review their policies at youth level and maybe all these playerz wont leave Also reports of a 14m bid for lukaku, to my knowledge we recently signed an agreement with Anderlect which would put us in good stead should this be official.... Maybe you could clear this up Ed? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea met with the Anderlecht general manager yesterday. I am told that Van Holsbeeck is still looking for a figure in the region of 30M euros and that there are previously undeclared ownership issues to do with two other parties - one being Lukaku's father. Chelsea have made it clear that it is the responsibility of Anderlecht to deal with those third party payments and Chelsea were expecting Van Holsbeeck to have arrived for discussions accepting Chelsea were not interested in paying the sort of figure being suggested. It seems that this may continue to drag on for a while. Chelsea were told of interest from other clubs but I don't know if it is Arsenal or not, and I don't know of a bid. I rather doubt that £14M would interest Anderlecht even if it were true.}

Ed002 do you agree that song is slightly over rated and leaves us vulnerable at the back when he attacks. Also if nasri stays he should definatley not be made captain as he lacks the loyalty we require. I also think subotic would be the best cb signing. {Ed002's Note - Subotic would be a great signing but I don't see him moving to Arsenal. Song is decent player. As for Nasri I would not be surprised to see him offered the armband to try and persuade him to stay.}
