Chamberlain not done deal yet, but hopefully will be.

Don't konw much about PSV winger, but doubtfull, what with the possibility of Chamberlain and Hazard.

Randy Lerner is a Billionaire, O'Neil spent approx £120 million, only fair Houllier gets some cash.

Bent no where near good enough for Arsenal, not sure why transfer request put it maybe to force Villa move, perhaps with Gyan, Cambell, Welbeck and talk of Vela loan then he feels under threat.Sunderland is his best club yet though

Wenger got cash but doesn't like to spend, we don't need to buy more then one or two either.

Pienaar refused Everton contract, free agent in summer = cheap (plus everton skint)

Should see CB in Jan, if not defo summer {ed's note - Bent doesn't like living in the area, that is why he has handed in a number of transfer requests, this is just the first to be accepted.}

Alex Chamberlain looks like a sensation. He looks far better than Walcott was that early in his career and now we're in awe of Walcott. Watched couple of videos of him on youtube he looks almost identical to Theo but with a better final ball, a better long shot, better power in the shot, better tekkers and dare i say better finishing! So good job Wenger for signing him up before he went to City.

Also heard that we may be interested in signing that PSV winger with the impossible name (Balasz Dzduszak or something, that looks quite accurate!)

Where have Aston Villa got 18 million pounds to bid on Bent with?

Why did Bent hand in a transfer request when Sunderland has been the best thing in his career?

Why haven't we bid on him, a proven, pacey, good finisher that isn't ALWAYS injured?

How come Villa can find 18 million but we can't find 18 million to sign Montolivo in the summer?

Why has Pienaar become so cheap?

When will Wenger sign a new CB?

Will anyone answer these questions (if anyone reads them !) ?

do i have a life?

BENT WASNT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE SPUDS, SO HE DEFINATELY AINT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE ARSENAL.
PIENAAR IS NEAR THE END OF HIS CONTRACT, THATS WHY HE'S CHEAP. ( I DONT RATE HIM EITHER)

Thomas Vermaelen will undergo a procedure to cure his troublesome Achilles injury and should be back in “four to six weeks”.

The Belgian defender has not played since September 7 when he completed 90 minutes for his country in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Turkey. He returned to England with a tendon problem and was expected back in action within a week.

More than four months on Vermaelen is still waiting for his first-team comeback but Arsène Wenger believes the 25-year-old will return in February. In an exclusive interview with Arsenal TV Online, the manager clarified the next steps on his road to recovery.

“It’s not a real surgery, ” said Wenger. “It is to take out a little ligament [tendon] next to his [Achilles] tendon. It is to open it a little bit and cut out the ligament [tendon] that has been causing the friction. It is a procedure, that is the right medical term.

“We are very optimistic that [this will cure the problem]. But of course it is now what you call in football a little bit longer delay of four to six weeks.”

According to some reports, Vermaelen has targeted the first leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona on February 16 for his comeback. That falls within Wenger’s time-frame but the Frenchman knows his centre back will need games before he can perform at the top level.

“Let’s count the weeks to Barcelona and you will know, ” said Wenger. “I count a minimum of four weeks, maximum six, so it is not an unrealistic target.

Wenger to purchase two CBs during the January transfer window in response to his CB injury crisis.

*Phil Jagielka for £12-£14million. Wenger is discouraged by the price tag of his primary target Gary Cahill and will instead look to bring in Phil Jagielka who will step in immediately as a starter. He has been a target of Wenger's for some time and Everton will part with him due to their lousy financial state.

*Mamadou Sakho for £9-£13million. Sakho is a highly rated prospect being watched by many top clubs around the world. He is tall (6'2"), strong, has a never-quit work ethic, a solid tackler, and has great leadership abilities (already vice-captain of PSG). He is young (20) and French so naturally he has caught the attention of Wenger who will try to buy Sakho now before his value inevitably sky-rockets as he continues to get better and better.

Both purchases are eligible to play in the Champions League.

Squillaci will leave in the summer and Sakho, Djourou, and Koscielny (not likely) will fight it out to be Vermaelen's long term partner while also providing depth at the CB position.

I can't believe Wenger would pay 13mil for a 30 year old CB so I don't think at that price Emir Spahić would be signed.

Vela loan to Sunderland - he's a left footer, Gyan right footer. Depends on the Mack'ems tying up full deal for Onuoha or Welbeck though, so this might scupper it.

What with Vermaelen out until march, a CB will be signed and that will likely be Emir Spahić of Montpellier for around £13mill or so. Only a CB will be signed. As is well known Wellington Silva failed his attempt at getting a work permit and will be loaned to Levante, the same thing has happened to Ryo Miyachi and he will go on loan to Feyenoord, so we won't get to see them in action this season.

Arsenal Rumours
First of all - Pienaar: Spurs bid £2m, Chelsea £3m. Spurs won't go back with an improved offer for the player despite talks with Chelsea breaking down due to personal terms. So stop the boasting, whining and bitching. Pienaar won't sign for Spurs this January

Cahill - Bolton's asking price is £20m - nobody will pay this, it's just media hype. Whether Arsenal will get him is anyone's guess. It looks doubtful this January because there's just 13 days to tie up the deal - and we have just 2 fit centre backs. Urgency is more the emphasis on this deal, so I expect Mexes will be the one brought in. He is experienced and available for around £4m (well within budget). He also knows Clichy and Sagna well and would not require much transition given that all 3 of his potential partners all speak French. When Vermaelen returns (April) then Mexes (providing he has proven himself) will be his partner for the remainder.
Christopher Samba is very much the bottom of the barrel. He may be cheap, but he's not the kind of player Wenger ideally wants. However, circumstances may force his hand so don't rule it out completely. Christophe Metzelder is more likely to be a summer target than one this month. Jan Vertonghen is too much of a risk too this month, although he may be brought in before the 2012 season.

Wellington Silva and Miyachi will both go out on loan to Spain to gain experience and more vitally approval of their EU work permit. Arsenal would not have played either even if their applications had been approved. They are long term prospects that the academy will groom.

Almunia looks likely to head to Galatasary. A deal may be done on deadline day, if not he will be gone in the summer. The keeper situation will not change though. Fabianski will remain No.1 with Szczesny and Shea as back up. If Arsenal DO win the league then don't expect to see any changes at all. The only thing that will make him consider a move for Reina or Neur would be costly errors resulting in losing the title or a Champions league place.
