So Stee wanted to put me down as i passed information that was fresh that day rather than whittle on about what i want and what i think will happen.

What i think will happen now is:

An experienced GK will be brought in unless Flappyanski is happy to bench warm and play cup games.

Defence due to a clause (well publicised) in Djourou's contract no CB will be signed as we have him for another year. Fullbacks are fine as we have cover as long as people stay fit (you cant have 5 in each position just incase of injury doesnt make financial sense)

Midfield - We all know Wenger likes his midfielders and tends to buy in this area the most, but this recent turn in fortunes and the squad jelling nicely might scupper what the majority of us want to see and that is Gotze. However he is as Wenger would say an exceptional talent and they are the players Wenger wants so possibly if the price is right. I can see a winger coming in but not a high profile name Wenger will probably scour France to find a rough diamond or as some have said and one i agree with Junior Hoilett would be a great addition to the squad. Other than that i dont see much happening in midfield

Strikers - Can go either way we could go get a prolific goalscorer and imo that would be Huntelaar the guy scores for fun and can play as a fox in the box. Podolski i have liked him for the past 7 years great player but as has been highlighted can blow hot and cold. We do have the ideal candidate in the squad already a certain Mr Walcott for in my opinion is a striker not a winger, his first touch and technical ability is not high enough to be an out and out winger but the timing on his runs and the pure pace he has is ideal as the front man with RVP behind. So we move Walcott then we do need a high profile winger but who my choice would be Valbuena who has the ability to play across the midfield, also brings experience after all he is 27.

Expect us to go to Spain for a couple of youngsters as well to come through our academy. Watch out for Miquel next year as well if he doesnt get loaned to Bolton or even if he does, this guy has something about him.

Just my thoughts

Well done mate, see it wasn't that hard was it? But the post I commented on was pure unadulterated regurgitation. Was probably in the paper because they couldn't find anything fresh to put in the paper. Didn't mean to sound like I was having a go, sorry if it looked that way

My view on our squad and where we could improve...

Goalkeepers - In Sir Ches, we have one of the best keepers in the EPL so no need to spend silly money on a GK for once! A backup is probably needed but is not one of the main issues that need addressed and tbh I can't see Wenger buying one. I can see Almunia and Mannone leaving.

Centre Back - In TV5, Kos and Per we have 3 class defenders. Per isn't really suited to the EPL but will have a big influence in the dressing room due to experience. After those 3 we have fairly average players and inexperienced youngsters. IMO, we need to sign a dynamic, versatile CB to replace both Squid and Djourou.

Full Back - As far as I'm concerned to problem at either RB or LB. Sagna/Jenkinson and Gibbs/Santos are fine in my book. Coquelin is versatile enough to cover for both.

Midfield - On a whole we are not actually to bad in midfield. We have class players in Wilshere, Arteta, Song, Ramsey, Rosicky and a handful of promising youngsters. IMO, we could be doing with a player like Patrick Viera. A player who gets stuck in and is mostly defensive minded but has the vision to play a killer pass. Out will go Denilson, and I think we should let go Diaby too. Good player. Injured too often.

Wingers - In Oxlade-Chamberlain we have a player who has every attribute to become the best player in the EPL. Then we have Theo and Gerv. Inconsistent but on their day deadly. IMO we need another winger who can create a chance from nothing and also have the versatility and ability to play attacking midfield aswell. Almost like Juan Mata does for Chelsea. Out will go Arshavin and Vela.

Striker - This, undoubtedly, is where we are weakest. We have the best striker in the EPL and after that nothing. We HAVE to buy at least two striker. Another deadly striker who will get you 20 goals a season and a promising youngster that will get you 10/15 goals a season, like ManUtd did with Hernandez. Out will go Chamakh, Park and Bendtner.

Thoughts,

Believable26 Unbelievable4

I still feel we really need a CAM... a world class one.

Agree0 Disagree0

First replier,

If we buy a player like Goetze, Hazard, Eriksen, they can all play CAM or on the wing so that would do as they are versatile. It was someone like that I was meaning when I compared them to Juan Mata.

G95

Agree0 Disagree0

So Park in and then out within a year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with u on everything except 1. Park Chu Young. He is a quality players which have not get the opportunity to show his talents.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Park will leave as he clearly has not impressed Wenger(God knows why we bought him) and is not getting game time.

Re: Wingers, don't forget about Miyaichi. He's looked impressive at Bolton. --dk

Agree0 Disagree0

I said earlier on in the season Wenger will still get bargain buys but will shop earlier in the market so as not to cause the frenzy of last year.

I agree if fabianski stays no goalkeeper will be bought, if he goes then the Birmingham youth goalie - Butland will be bought or Shea will be promoted. No one will take Szczesny's place.

Defence is tricky Vertonghen has ordered his agent to organise a move to Arsenal after watching the Milan game. Great player in a very average team had a good defensive relationship with Tommy V, however we need to get rid of Squillaci and now I also have given up on Djourou. But Djourou is sticking around for another year so that's already a few too many CB's seeing as Miquel is also such a great prospect.

In midfield I can see Arshavin being replaced and by hopefully Hoilett. Wenger has given no inclination as to wanting this kid but the Canadian is a game changer for Blackburn and hopefully Wenger can see that premier league experience can be a great trait after Arteta joined he really helped us. I think Miyaichi will be promoted and Ox will be tested in all sorts of positions but as a first team regular. Gervinho will be the new Arshavin. I hope he proves me wrong but the kid has struggled and slows are performances at least he gets back to defend I suppose.

Finally depending on Joel Campell's permit and the possibility of moving Walcott through the middle may mean Podolski is the only signing with the priority being to ship out Chamakh who is Torres-risqué in his lack of confidence.

I would love to see M'Villa but I know he is a wanted man.

Szczesny
Sagna Vermaelen Koscielny Gibbs
M'Villa Song
Podolski Wilshere Chamberlain
Van Persie

Subs: Fabianski, Vertonghen, Jenkinson, Arteta, Rosicky, Gervinho, Walcott

Fantasy Football stuff I know.

In Arsene I Trust.

dont get me wrong, Podolski would be a fantastic signing, but i just get the feeling if we were to spend a little more and get huntellar we would scare the crap out of most defences, how much more im not so sure, but this guy is scoring for fun, imagine the dutch duo tearing up the EPL

SOURCE: Daily Mail

So the deal is done, though still not confirmed on the Official Arsenal Website, and Arsene Wenger appears to have secure the signing of a long term target who he will look to strengthen his front-line. The deal will end up costing the North London side a total of £31.7m (£10.9m to Koln and £20.8m in wages) and this still seems like something of a bargain when you consider the quality of the player purchased.

Lukas Podolski is still just 26, despite having almost 100 internationals caps to his name. The Koln striker is in form, notching up 16 Bundesliga goals this season for a club fighting relegation is no mean feat. The former Bayern Munich man will add a new dimension up front and the Polish born attacker can play either as an orthodox striker, perhaps alongside Robin Van Persie, or out on the flanks.

Podolski was probably wise to turn down a move to Anzhi at this point in his career, though clearly making the move to the Dagestan based club would have resulted in a contract worth twice that he has signed for the Gunners but a move to the Premier League must have been a temptation the German international wasn't willing to pass up.

Wenger will hope that this signing will help persuade Van Persie to put pen to paper on a new contract as his current deal will have just a year to run come the summer. By all accounts the Dutch goal machine is looking to the Emirates Stadium club to show their ambition by bringing in top notch talents.

He would have been disheartened at the way Arsenal sold the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy only to fail to properly replace them. This has helped lead the club to having to fight for a spot in the top four when many would have hoped to see them fighting for major honours.
