Been having an Walcott discussion on Twitter and just wanted to get more opinions. As we know Walcott is not in the best form coming back from injury and contract talks are due to start again. I originally took the stance that I want Walcott to stay. However after thinking it over I'm starting to question that. Last contract we needed him to stay, now I don't think we need him as much. The biggest shock for me is that Walcott and Sanchez are the same age but completely different in terms of ability and unfortunately I feel Walcott will never reach that ability. I do feel Ox could and deserves to be a first team player now with impressive displays over the last few years. We sold Vieira so fabregas could develop should we sell Theo to allow the Ox and potentially Welbeck to push on?
Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of Theo and if a deal can be done great. But does he deserve 100k a week (may even wants more now). If we could offload him this summer to a non EPL club I would be very for it. Selling to a EPL club would be difficult although I think potentially only Liverpool would fancy him. Another stance is sell Walcott and look at Pedro more of a WC player until OX is at that at stage?

while walcott is a sensational player if he does have a decent run of games, his constant issues with injury does not favour his current stance with his contract.

can he thrive at man city or liverpool? yes.

but i don't see any point in trying to keep a player who held us to ransom, got his deal, and since 2 years ago, has been injured for a year and has still not proven he can raise his game when it counts.

The ox has already proven he can be more of a threat in the same role, and with Welbeck and sanchez we always have a constant pace threat.

Morata, Dybala, Vietto would be the only players in my mind who can replace walcott and make us better.

but if we want quality to replace him and give ox more of a challenge, i can only think of Marco Reus and Bale. both of which are near impossible.

{Ed002's Note - None of the players you mention in Morata, Dybala, Vietto, Reus or Bale or likely to be viable for Arsenal. Pedro might be an option.}

How do you think the Ox's goal scoring record compares to Walcott? I can't quite believe what I'm reading. He gives us things that nobody else does. Let me know when Ox scores 20+ goals from midfield in a season (and I love Chamberlain by the way). We cannot sell one of our best players because he's been injured for a year. For me he is still our most important player along with Koscielny. And I believe the discussion is redundant anyway because Wenger already knows all this and would not sell.
