we will sign NO one in January or at least there won't be any major signing(s) (Even a player like Diame), so don't hold your breath mates (really hope to be proved wrong, but it's crystal clear that fans' views and concerns aren't important at all for the club)

Wenger won't make his move untill the last week of the transfer window, whether they are key signings or kids remains to be seen but I suspect he will sign two new players.

I've been following all the post on the rumours and sometimes it made me hope or smile but mostly laugh...
AW never make signing in January, and never spent more that 25M for a player, sometime I wish but we are not man united or city or Chelsea, even now not Spurs, why because we don't want to spend like them. I grew up with Arsenal, before AW arrived and I'm sure I will die with Arsenal without AW in charge! In all these year AW have made more than any other with little he had... The man know where he goes and with what we have (money/players/fans) that where we supposed to be... We are an independent club without a tycoon owner doing what I couldn't do in kindergarden. So If you envy City ( with Money from Oil but no class) or Chelsea (own by a lonely kindergarden boy who know nothing of his toys) or man united (with dept and a Sir Alex in his last breath) or Spurs (well just kidding no one want to follow those), Arsenal won't follow that! It is not our time for the moment. I can take an example like Liverpool, since the beginning of football in England, they've been the number one club (and us just behind) they're not around that much, but I believe us like them we'll be back soon, but not this year not next one hopefully before the next 5 years... I can easily accept to be ending each years 4th for the following year because for now our business is to find the way to do better with smart players who won't go just for the sweet money deal and small Money! We won't play the game of the club who spend that much. So we need to stop comparing ourselves to Man U, City, Chelsea, ... and try to act like we are: looking for the solution... AW is doing that since Chelsea became Russian, and City coming back from abyss in history books. And it's not an easy job to do finding that things, that players, that team... it's not done in 5 years or more...
Sir Alex didn't win all of his years at the head of man united and no-one blame him for that.
So please give some credit to AW and his choices, get back behind the team, we'll finish at best 3rd and we will do another step next year but we have to keep in mind that we're not playing the same business games than the others...
Best to all of you...

A relation of one of the Editors sadly died a while back in a swimming pool, he was only 12, but could have been saved with a diffibulator. His father is trying to get support for an e-petition for diffibulators to be available in all public buildings. If this is something you consider worthwhile, perhaps you would think about signing it:

It is sad, and my condolences go towards the family and to the ED.

I do wonder why we haven't moved in the transfer market yet. Everyone knew we had Man see and Chelski to play this month along with Liverpool and West Ham. We don't deliver in the big games. That's because the squad isn't good or deep enough and there are no game changers on the bench. I hope we win tomorrow but two thirds of the month has gone and we have done nothing. Knowing we had 3 tough games, I would have thought the club would have pulled out all the stops to get someone and bed them in. If Felleini has a buyout clause of £22m activate it. The same for Diame, MBiwa and so on. I'm not saying buy everyone. However, we have money to spend. Some of the players tha have been mentioned by the media and on here would significantly improve our squad and team. Get on with it Arsenal.

Was anyone else hoping we give the likes of Eisfeldt, Gnabry and Aneke before signing one more 19 year old offensive mid?
If he is better than what we currently have then fair, but if he is as good or no better then we should rather give our youngsters the chance and use the money on proven talent

Hey gunners fans!
I am living in France, and as you know, AW always do his market here.
I am not expecting big signings from Arsenal in this window, and some sources here in France like " L'Equipe" reported that arsenal made 2 bids for two players who are likely to Join, the two players are very young and unknown as always, and they are Florian Thauvin (20 years old, 5M bid) and IMBULA PLAIT (9M bid, and also interests Chelsea and Newcastle) ...
Dont expect better!

It is Gotze who has a £30m release clause in his contract which runs out in July '13but I doubt he'd come to Arsenal - I believe we have bid and with fingers crossed I'm sure Malaga will announce this as a done deal! It's not {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona were previously knocked back by his club although Goetze has identified his favourite teams as Barcelona and Arsenal. There has also been interest also from Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and AC Milan - who I suspected were shifting their interest in Ganso or Fernando to Goetze. Chelsea know that there will be pressure from elsewhere to buy the player - most notably AC Milan and the major Spanish sides - and are of the opinion that a move to England will probably not come about - although I suspect Manchester United will look to the player again.}

Here is an idea.....why dont Ushmanov buy players for the club, if he wants the club to compete? He could buy players through his company, and lease them out to Arsenal. Totally legal I think.
He could buy Hummels, Falcao and Goetze for less than 100 mill.
These players are at the top of their value, so there is not much for Arsenal to collect from future sales.
Norwegian Gunner {Ed002's Note - It is not at all legal to have third party ownership of players in England.}
Believable2
Unbelievable15
Yes but he could buy them and then sell them to Arsenal for affordable transfer fees
Agree0
Disagree0
Eds if it counts as being the same thing then fair enough....but to pay for players, would that count as third party ownership if he did not take ownership i.e. if he bought them for the club?
That said, the board have stated many times they have no desire to use Usmanov's money at all. So whether he hands over money or pays for players and 'gives' them to the club, it's the same thing in the end, and the club don't want to do it.
Metal Gooner {Ed002's Note - I have this vision of Usmanov turning up driving a bus full of players? Is that what you are thinking of?}
Agree0
Disagree0
He's already tried to give the club 100 mil for transfers but the club rejected it! Brave desicion and to be applauded? Or just damn right stupid?
Agree0
Disagree0
Haha well I'm just going along with the question Ed....whether Usmanov buys the players or gives the club money to buy the players makes no real difference in terms of it happening - one is illegal and one the club refuse to allow so yeah.
You made me laugh though: 'Here you go AFC, here's your new squad additions, enjoy, thank me later!'
Metal Gooner {Ed002's Note - Interestingly something very similar happened at St Et a few years ago when Comolli bought players without consultation and presented them to the manager during training.}
Agree0
Disagree0
Sounds like something roman would do, but not saying hey look at these guys I brought, more of a hey look at these guys YOU ARE GOING TO PLAY
Agree0
Disagree0
Actually ed you are right in a way, it is illegal to play a player when he is owned by a third party. But Usmanov isn't a third party he owns almost 30% of our football club so he can invest if he wants.
I believe Ken fryar did a similar thing when Arsene took charge of the club by investing 50 million for the purchase of players as the club had stagnated.
So Usmanov wold not be doing anything illegal because he not an outside money man with no ties to the club financially {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but his company would eb a third party - what was suggested is not possible. Any players have to be owned by the club.}

Good Morning Fellow Gunners!
Theo putting pen to paper, is like a big name signing for us. He IS currently our top goalscorer, and Van Persie sang his praise last season for his assists. This season too, he has almost as many assists as goals. Not only is he a good football-player, he is also a down-to-earth guy and an important part of our British youngster-core. I, for one, is very pleased he signed.
I do believe we need reinforcements, and this is because we are a bit thin at the moment, and the squad-players we have sendt out on loan now will be subjects for sale, rather than coming back.
Diaby, he could be a giant, but can we rely on him? Every time he start to impress us, he gets injured again........but so was Van Persie also. I truly believe that Diaby can be great, but his position is a part of our squad that I would like for us to strenghten.
I also think buying a CB, who can also play DCM is wrong. I would rather have a DCM, who could play CB if necessary.
We would all like to se a world-class striker join us, but is that realistic?
Could we get Cavani, Falcao, Lewandowski, Villa etc?
I think not, but I truly believe, that Wenger knows what we need. We have always had good strikers.
I would like us to make 3 more signings this January. ( I count Walcott as a new signing)
Etienne Capoue, Toulouse.....strenght to our squad.
Maarten Stekelenburg, Roma.....two good goalies is key. (Roma will probably not sell)
Roberto Soldado, Valencia......great score-ratio over several seasons.
I guess these players only are possible in my head...lol.
Well, whatever happens, I will ALWAYS stand by Arsenal, and Wenger!
Gunner 4 life!

Well, when you read Wenger's comments about Diaby you cannot help but love Wenger. What he says is so true. And I do respect him for taking the time and effort for Diaby and trying to rehab him back into a player, because like he says Diaby is an incredible player and he does deserve a career. Wenger obviously has massive faith in the medical staff and specialists at his disposal as well.
However, what has frustrated us is that he still leaves the team short. I believe 1005 that there wouldn't be a fan in the world who would be unhappy if we kept Diaby IF we signed someone to play during his lay off who'd then be another option when Diaby is fit. This is where Wenger has gone wrong. For 2 seasons we relied on Song when we shouldn't have done, we even played Jack back there which was a waste (although that was as much to do with having too many good midfielders!). Now Song's gone and in came....nobody. This is what it crazy. He should have signed someone else a long time ago.
Wenger sees no problem with waiting for another year. He will think 'why buy Wanyama when Coquelin might be good enough this time next year' and this is what has prevented us from silverware. We've always been 2-3 players short- nothing we couldn't deal with, but we never have dealt with it.
I am not sure what I want from the rest of the window really. I take your point about CDM but if we have Diaby sometimes, Arteta and Coquelin I would rather we signed a TOP CB who can deputise rather than a CDM who converts to a shoddy centre back.

In my opinion Walcott is overpaid and overrated, his touch on Wednesday v Swansea was that of a hippo, just my opinion, he has half the ability and drive of Wilshire and I read this morning ( Saturday 19/01/13 ) that we have paid over 20m for him to stay, for that kind of money we could have bought 2 Walcott's and that's the last thing we need. I heard I through the grapevine that Gotze and Diame will sign in the next ten days... Wenger does not want Zaha anymore as he sees him as too similar to Theo..
