eds - do you expect Gustavo to leave Bayern this summer? if so what kind of fee would he command?

i think he would be a solid option for our midfield

cheers {Ed029's Note - He is on the list to go but apparently wants to stay.}

Believable27 Unbelievable7

Pros:

He is a good interceptor
Young
Plays for Bayern, has won CL and their league.
Passer
Tall

Cons:

Isn't starter for club
Is fourth choice DM for Brasil
Not strong at all
Couldn't handle speed nor physicality of PL

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate did you not watch him start for brazil in the confederations cup? The lad is quality, certainly has the speed for the prem. would be a great addition. Would prefer fellaini, but Gustavo would certainly demand a lower fee so more likely. Could be just what we need in midfield

There is growing speculation that Arsenal are set to sign Brazilian international Bernard.

Any one know what he is like apart from being 5, 5

Is he any good?

I am guessing he is not a defensive player lol

Believable45 Unbelievable24

The guy is sik I watched him on YouTube. I know it's only YouTube an they only show the best bit but he's got loads of potential he will be a good signin if we manage to get him.

Danny1985

Agree1 Disagree1

I watch him regularly in the Brazilian championship.

Very fast, agile, and makes smart runs from the wings. He can finish very well also.

He is small and light though, so that's a bit concerning.

Surely sooner or later one of these rumours will be true? I am concerned that with 3 weeks to go until the season starts that we still have not got a decent 2nd goalkeeper, we are clearly short of at least one central defender (what happens if Mert or Kos get injured on day one as there apart from Miguel there is no back up), and we still need another world class striker. In other words we are no further on than we were last season and I just don't understand our complacency. In addition, we have a number of players who are prone to injury, Gibbs, Kos, Wilshere, Walcott, Diaby, Rosicky and if these start to occur again our squad will look pretty thin.

Hi Edds, can you post this please?

I seem to remember a few months ago, one of the edds stating that there was going to be big things happening at Arsenal this summer, I think he was hinting at the ownership or management.
Can he now shed some light on what he was talking about?
Has it all turned to custard?

Thanks in anticipation,

ColbyGarry {Ed027's Note - That was Ed002, and due to all the abuse he received, he won't be updating you anytime soon

Many Thanks for the info

Would he fit in at Arsenal & the way they play?

Agree0 Disagree0

He has to have something about him, he's keeping the likes of Ronaldinho out of the Brazil squad.

Boozy82

Agree1 Disagree0

He's like cazorla but could bet better with the potential of him expected

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive seen him play a few times. he is part of the golden generation fot brazil. I defo think he will b the one to watch more then neymar next yr for the world cup. similar height as arshavin but his tekkers and speed r better. would b a good signing imo. but still would prefer a stiker to a midfieldet/winger. but with him signing I woyld suggest that's the end of the reciding forehead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Messi's not 6'2 and built. #Justsayin

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a similar sort of player to coutinho

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it true that brasilian transfer window closes tomorrow?thanks
Finland gooner {Ed029's Note - Only for incoming transfers.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't hold your breath! Another Madrid or barca signing, reminds me of juninho.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is very similar to Walcott, is very fast and plays wings. Here in Brazil do not speak in the interest of Arsenal. Good for the future, needs to evolve because it is still very thin.

"Various sources"

Sorry it's not various sources. Every report is citing "ESPN Brasil" as the source but they've said nothing of the sort whatsoever (check their website)

It's one guy named Ale Oliveira who is a reporter for ESPN Brasil who supposedly said it. There's nothing concrete whatsoever about this rumour.

Pls the EDs!
Is there any truth that Atletico Madrid attacker, Diego Costa is the South American Arsene Wenger wants at Arsenal, as purported by Mundo Deportivo? Thanks for your incisive update. {Ed027's Note - I don't belive it mate, we were at Atletico games last season, I believe for Adrian

Brazil ESPN and a Brazilian reporter has confirmed that Bernard will be arsenals second signing

Believable48 Unbelievable29

I saw this too. Hope it's true he
Looks quite talented!

Shevy85

Agree0 Disagree1

The Brazilian reporter and Brazil ESPN are usually quite good at predicting deals so this could in fact be true

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good player. very short though

Agree0 Disagree0

The same Brazilian ESPN that is stating that Spurs and Liverpool are fighting for his signature!
I couldn't find anything on your rumour of confirmation.
If you are going to quote a source make sure that source doesn't contradict what you are saying in the first place. This is the first rule of 'Lie club'.
Anybody would think you assume that the very people who require a computer/phone/tablet and an internet connection to see your very post couldn't pop online to corroborate you story!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was a BS hoax. Confirmed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt they also say julio cesar was a done deal during the conf cup?

cant find it guys, where. km

Agree0 Disagree0

Possible although I've seen another article saying this reporters track record of announcing transfers isn't that great. If we do get him then that frees up Podolski to play CF.

In the Brazilian league, Bernard is being called the new Neymar.

Eds, do you know if Soldado is going to leave Valencia this summer, and if we are interested? He is a class player and a real goal scorer.

Mr T {Ed029's Note - From Ed02 on another page - Liverpool did previously show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he signed a new deal in last summer. Spurs are interested now but I suspect he will stay another season in Spain unless an attractive offer is made to the club and player.}

Believable6 Unbelievable18

Since arsenal had off loaded all their fringe players, I hope they would sign quality players as promised. Please Wenger do something before all the world class players are signed by other Clubs who are willing to spend the money. Arsenal fans want statements backed up by action.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's useless - misses far too many straight forward chances.

Agree0 Disagree1

Spurs linked with him today also I think

Andre Santos off to Flamengo on loan (thankfully)

Believable62 Unbelievable11

He signed a 2 year contract, it's permanent

Agree4 Disagree0

Thankfully he appears to have gone. When he signed, some Turkish waiters I know, told me he was poor defensively and boy were they correct. What worries me, is if they knew he couldn't defend, why didn't Wenger?

Agree1 Disagree0

We don't want him to go on loan, we need to sell him

Arsenal will improve their offer to luis suarez to 40 mil.

Believable67 Unbelievable28

19 Jul 2013 02:11:01
We will get! One surez or hig don't but mind whwantich a big part of me wants the wild boy 35 goals plus!

Agree1 Disagree0

Now Liverpool say they want £50m!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be more than happy to see Suarez as a part of the Arsenal setup. I think he does want to prove a point and Wenger could exactly be the man to give him that platform.

Now, down to the actual transfer it seems everyone now wants to keep increasing the asking price given that there are clubs who are ready to pay ridiculous amounts. Also the confusion lays whether or not 40 mill is the figure to trigger a clause. Suarez's agent and the liverpool board seem to disagree on this one. It could be one of those transfers that drags on forever.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's got a clause in his contract which is £40m that's why he won't hand in a transfer as their is no need to x

Agree0 Disagree0

The cluase of £40 million only allows Suarez to talk to clubs, Liverpool are not forced to deal/accept and so can ask for more. It seems odd but Suarez could agree terms but a deal not be inplace between the clubs.

Basically the 40 million is just the starting bid that I expect will have to be a lot higher to acutally get Liverpool to agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez wants out of country he won't join arsenal another window of missed targets

Agree0 Disagree0

Pointless as Lpool have stated they want at least 55m so why even bother? {Ed027's Note - because Liverpool won't get 55m

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed you said we wouldn't get 40 mil the other day {Ed027's Note - you are clearly twisting words, I said something along the lines of you will get 40m max from Arsenal, and other clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2013 00:25:52
Daily mail reporting AW has been given the all clear to spend the £40million required for Liverpool to listen to offers for Suarez.

Fingers crossed eh!

Believable46 Unbelievable21

Yeah. as if wenger is actually going to spend that much on one player.

Agree1 Disagree1

We bid 30m plus 5m add ons to equal 35m and we will up that to 35m + 5m add ons to equal 40m.

The add ons are performance related and based on appearances.

Agree1 Disagree0

"We bid 30m plus 5m add ons to equal 35m and we will up that to 35m + 5m add ons to equal 40m.

The add ons are performance related and based on appearances. "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then it won't get accepted. If Wenger wants him he just has to pay the actual asking price for a change.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fingers will end up cramping if you think Lpool will sell Suarez for 40m to a rival lol. Lpool will not sell for less than 55m, this magical 40m is all paper talk as any clause only allows an approach, not to sell at that price, so Arsene can keep bidding a few million here or there but your just wasting time and effort.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool will not get 55m for Suarez. They know it and so does everyone else. They are also in for a highly disruptive season if they keep a player who wants to go. If we offered a straight £40m, Suarez would agitate for a move and make it impossible for Liverpool to keep him. Especially in the very public context of his wish to goi!
