Ed, seen his name mentioned a lot on here recently. Are we actually in talks/negotiations with R.Madrid over Esteban Granero.

Cheers. {Ed001's Note - as far as I know, there have been no talks regarding him with Madrid yet.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Yay what about MMM

Agree0 Disagree0

When you say "yet", is this suggesting there may be future talks.

Cheers. {Ed001's Note - yes, I believe that Arsenal are taking a look at him, so it can't be ruled out.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And what offers Granero exactly what Arteta not does? they are both squad players at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta as we all can see is an average average footballer lol...

cant do half of what fabregas could do ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas is one of the best midfielders in the world, arteta isnt in the same league, and I dont think that he thinks he is either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta plays cdm for us and if we are honest is a lot better than song in that position. He pulls the strings makes interception and plays the ball forward. Lets compare this to song who is sloppy in possession and often gives illy fouls in dangerous areas.
So Arteta although he isn't playing in the position we wanted him though is currently one of our best players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is one of the best players we have. He is immense so to say arteta is better proves you know nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Hhaaha how could u even have the guts to say that arteta is better than song in that position...

u know one of the best cdm in the league for clearin up and tackling the ball is song!...

I watch MOST of arsenals games live.. and trust me song wins alot of the balls...

arteta does not even win 30 percent of that, yes he tackles but not as much as song....

and yes arteta we bought because his a better passer of the ball...

even so his not up to arsenal standards...

think before u speak or keep quiet if u dnt know

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta is the one who is playing the best for us right now.Ever sinc AW put him as a cdm he has been great.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't beleive people are criticising Arteta - or even saying he's a defensive mid(?)
he's been a consistant performer for us since he joined - he's scored goals and set them up and we've looked very strong with him in the team. Stop comparing him to Fabregas - if you want to draw such a comparison the criticism should be aimed at Wenger for he's the one he bought him in;
In my opinion he's a model professional and someone who will help develop the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey, who are the future of the team

As for Granero he's an excellent player whos good on the ball and as good with his left foot as he is with his right - he'd be an excellent signing and would fit in our team's playing style with ease.

AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta is OK... very good with the ball but very very slow aswell... his a player arsenal would never have signed if we got goetze or honda on the last day... so yes his worth the last ditch signing :)

no more to be said and thats a fact about arteta a player who has 2 more years of football MAX left in him

predicted January transfer activity:

Chamakh out on loan. made permanent in summer. Almunia out on permanent deal.

NO players in. my reasoning:

Park Chu-Young will have adapted by then and will get more games. From what I'v heard he is a seriously clinical striker and we've seen glimpses of that. he's not afraid to go for goal.

this will leave Park and RVP as our main strikers. Walcott will be seen as our 3rd choice central striker. Gervinho also versatile enough to play in that role.

Chamberlain and Miyaichi to also have bedded in by January and will get more playing time.

in the middle we will have Wilshere and Diaby back leaving them to compete with the likes of Arteta, Song, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Frimpong and Benayoun. thats 9 central midfielders (aware that Benayoun is better operating on the flank) competing for 3 spots.

defence we have Jenkinson and Sagna at RB. Santos and Gibbs at LB. in the middle we now have a commanding Vermaelen, a solid and forever improving Konscielny, an experienced Mertesacker and a very promising CB in Miguel. Djourou isn't an amazing CB but as cover he is fine in my books but more importantly....in Wenger's books.

that's a pretty large squad. I don't see any big buys like the media are speculating. Hazard? he won't leave Lille until the summer and as much as I would love for him to come, Wenger has taken too long so secure his signature as I feared and now his value has rocketed as expected. Wenger is definitely an admirer but I am not sure he will be willing to meet Lille's current valuation. there's a still a small hope however. Gotze? again I don't see him leaving until the summer and I'm not totally convinced Wenger now feels he is needed.

if we have any big injuries in the middle then possibly a cut price bid for Montolivo from Fiorentina will come in considering his contract is due to expire.

Do not count Diaby, he is not going to play six games in a row without breaking down with another injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

You had me at "NO signings"

AM

Agree0 Disagree0

Wozza,
You are spot on regarding incoming (not that this is what I want: I want Vertonghen at the back and Adam Johnson on the left wing, but what i want isn't quite the same as Mr Wenger, and so far, he has won more thna me as a Manager).

Plus The Ox, (should always be included in first team thinking; boy's a genius!)
Plus Arsharvin
Plus Bartley (bring him back from Rangers!)
Plus Vela (bring him back etc)
Plus Wellington Boot, Botelho, Lansbury, Campbell.
Plus any who show true signs of coming through the reserves..

To be honest I am totally shocked with this ridiculous post. Arsenal cannot possible compete with the current squad. If you are hanging your hopes on the Chelsea result, then you will sooon realise how naive you are post January.

So answering your points in order;

1. Arsenal have to sign 3-4 players
2. Chamakh and Almunia are both very average and therefore sale or laon is possible.
3. Park Chu Young will no adapt as he is average at best. You say you have seen glimpses of his ability, and I find that laughable. He lacks pace, has no stature and seems totally unsuited to the English game.
4. Walcott has promised to deliver for years and never made it. Gervinho looks hellishly bad and his latest misses alongside one on the best strikers in the world demonstrate he is weak.
5. Chamberlain could be anything but a year or two will be needed to harness his young talent.
6. Wilshire having to compete with Arteta and song made me chuckle. Wilshire is world class and if fit is an automatic selection.
7. Coquelin, Rosicky, Song, Frimpong, Ramsey and even Benayoun are all average players who would never make a top 3 midfield. Infact apart from Wilshere there are no World Class players in the centre of the park. Spurs seems to have left Arsenal in their wake, and if you compare the likes of Parker, Bale, Lennon, Modric, Van Der Vaart, Sandro, Huddlestone, Pienaar, Krancjar and even the youngster Livermore and Carroll then there is no comparison. Only Willshire would get close and even he would be on the Spurs bench.
8. The defense is full of great promises and little quality. Vermaelen looks absolutely world class and can form the hub on the foundation. Jenkinson, Sagna, Gibbs, Santos, Migual, Djourou and others are so average. Just look at the total goals conceeded and ask yourself if they are any good.

In summary
GK - No Star
LB - Rubbish
CB - Vermaelen World Class
CB - Need a player to play with him
RB - Very weak
RM - Walcott is the best option and he is average
CM - Wilshere look world class
CM - Arteta can do a job if fit
LM - Arshavin should be the option but he look destined to leave
CF - Robin Van Persie looks one the best strikers in the world on current form
CF - The rest of the attacking options look weak and without RVP up front I doubt even Bolton would be worried about Arsenal's attacking options.

If you are disillusioned and feel recent results have reaffirmed that Arsenal will recover, then the future will be shocking if the board and wenger feelthe same.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above post arsenal play 442 do they. You must be the bloke calling for an offside from a throw in who sat behind me at the emirates!! Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Wozza, heart warming to see an overall positive and up beat post. Good on you mate! I agree with nearly all your points, but i do feel we could do with another player for defense, another for mid field and another for forwards. Three players in in my estimation, and roughly around 7-8 deadwood players out would make for a much more healthier squad in my opinion. But who would these players be and would we pay good money for them? it is dubious. If money was no matter, i would like to see Vertoghen, Hazard and Pazzini join up with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the third above im no arsenal fan im charlton but ur wrong infact if arsenal sign podolski and mvilla then they would be strong ur obviously a spurs fan and by the way asides from the cc which any top flight team can win what have spurs won nothing and so before looking at arsenals problems which arent huge take a look at spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

O yer charlton will be in the top flight in two years time wait and see

Well done to the 'realist' posters that replied. as for the negatives that found my post ridiculous......u need to understand that I didnt come onto this website posting my wishlist. yes i would want arsenal to sign 3 or 4 players BUT my post was based on the fact that I doubt Wenger will bring in these 3 or 4 players. I'm a realist, I listen to every word Wenger says and I study Arene's spending pattern however it doesn't take a genius to work out that Wenger won't be blowing £20m this January. Yes players like Arshavin and Diaby could probably be replaced by better players....but is Arsene really going to do it??? NO! He has faith in his squad whether we like it or not. I was a fan that was moaning and groaning during the previous transfer window, fed up of our poor transfer activity at the time. but then the transfer window shut and i had to do what i do every season....get on with it and get behind the players we already have. these negative posters are the type of ridiculous fans that had the nerve to boo Eboue a couple seasons ago when he was having a bad game despite playing out of position and just coming back from injury. those type of fans AREN'T fans. and those that come on here and can only talk about the negatives of our players to me AREN'T fans. people will come on here and moan about Jenkinson but I'll tell u wat fellas.....when I got to the Emirates to watch my beloved Arsenal I LOVE to see a player that gives his all, that plays his heart out and my god that is exactly what I see in that young lad. we had a major overhaul in the summer and it cost us.....we didnt look like a team and needed time to gel. this cost us so many points at the start of the season. we're slowly starting to find our rhythm now. when it comes to January do fans really believe that Wenger is again going to bring in another 3 or 4 players to disrupt the squad again?? come on get real!!

we do need better back up players in our squad to mount a serious title challenge in my own personal opinion. I know that much. I'm not dissillusioned by an impressive 5-3 Chelsea victory but I will celebrate it none the less. Newcastle fans also know that they don't have the squad to really compete for the title....but are they moaning about it? NO!! they're getting behind their team and pushing them as far as they can. I WISH every Arsenal fan would do the same instead of spreading nothing but negative vibes.

everyone can come on here and talk about what we need. I have done the same in the past and will continue to do so. but don't rip into a post that doesn't discuss what we should but instead evaluates and predicts how the Arsenal manager will actually act in the next window. next summer....I do expect some positive deals to go down but I will leave that until next summer. right now its all about what we got, and we do have a lot believe me.

Good post.
What many dont get is that we are better than the sum of our parts, mainly due to Wenger and his style of play and coaching skills.
Also, people get blinded by headlines and fancy names or reputations. and whos in vogue right now.
And to the joker who mentions Wilshire as being a Spurs bench player....get real. 2 lines above you call him world class (he is getting there) and then say he would be benched behind the likes of Parker/Sandro/huddlestone and Pienaar? Crazy.

Support the team, get realistic and as Wenger says the only way is up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wazz...i respect you...lets enjoy what we have, and not dream of things we dont ..
jj realist gooner!

Agree0 Disagree0

I said Wilshire was world class but you then mentioned Krancjar Huddlestone and Pienaar who never play fo Spurs anymore. You tell me where Wilshire fits into midfield at Spurs

LM - Bale ( No chance)
CM - Parker (Are you serious he has been the best player in the premiership in midfield this season without doubt)
CM - Modric (there is world class and simply amazing)
AM - Van Der Vaart (Perhaps behind Adebayor in an attacking midfield role, but where with this super star available)
LM - Perhaps downt he left out of position with no pace in place of Lennon.

You see he cant get into Spurs midfield and he is you best player in midfield by a mile. And for the record I suggest you get out more and record a game Spurs play and watch the young Brazilian Sandro who looks like a monster in midfield and even he can get into the spurs side.
Modric ?
Parker
Van Der Vaart ?

Its Been stated that Arsenal are in negotiations to bring Granero to the emirates in january as a contingency to jack wilshere. The only problem is that he wants to stay in spain with malaga wanting him too.

Positive start that wenger has identified a few players and will try to make those moves in the january window.

I do have a feeling Hazard will join Chelsea and pair up front with torres and mata.

Drogba and Anelka are done out there.

Gotze is in contention to head down to Man utd or Real madrid next summer.

Neymar will end up with madrid, tevez is more like a lottery no one wants.

But for Arsenal we have to get some depth this january, on the wings too and push not only for the 4th spot but for Carling cup and FA cup.

btw next round we face city in carling cup.

Believable13 Unbelievable7

Has arsene wenger come out and said he is looking at buying granero? because if he hasnt, then we dont know if he is interested or not.
