Look at it this way if your an arsenal front man/forward you have just been given a huge vote of confidence by the manager your confidence should be high and you should want to prove the boss was right, only time will tell

Agree Yanman.

Olly, Wally and Danny, step up.

We have Giroud, Welback & Walcott, as well as Sanchez, who can all play up front. The sole poor result was home to West Ham and only Man City of the top clubs have had a much better start than us. We have Wilshere & Welback to add to the squad when fit.

Last chance for welbeck n Walcott..we'll see how good they really are now..

Ed is the any chance of any signing from arsenal this late? Loan move or permanent?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - sorry doesn't seem anything has been done.}

I'd love Zlatan!
Even if we did pay over the odds for a year or two, but it won't happen.

He's on mad wages, I doubt he'd take much of a cut either (unless it was for Malmo) and we just won't pay what he'd likely command.

01 Sep 2015 18:04:39

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Sep 2015 15:29:09
Zlatan ibrahimavic??

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Paris Saint-Germain would be more than pleased to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic and get his vast wages off the books. Milan would have been open to some sort of deal but it would have required some financial issues to be resolved. His agent has spoken to an English side about his availability but right now I don't see happening. The issue is his age and the wages he will demand.}

01 Sep 2015 15:38:38
Id take zlatan and his ego for a year. he's quality even at 34.

Agree2 Disagree4

01 Sep 2015 16:28:17
I'd agree with you Markdtone but I looked up his current wages. Assuming PSG were happy to offload him on the cheap, he'd need to also take a considerable pay cut (unlikely) but yes he is quality for his age and would be good to see him in the PL as I bet he has another season or so in him.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 13:59:23
Allegedly arsenal won't pay the 50million psg want.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - That should not shock you - I have explained it would be an issue - and there is no saying the player would be keen knowing he was third choice.}

01 Sep 2015 14:36:39
I ain't shocked ed I'm a seasoned arsenal fan. Even if we got past the first stage and agreed a fee and opened up talks with cavani we would then Baulk at his wage demands.

It's ok leaving it late and potentially benefiting from a domino effect, but if you do business like we do 24hrs isn't long enough. But a whole window is so I can safely say as a loyal gooner that if we don't get anyone of quality I will be the most disappointed that I have been

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Sep 2015 14:46:12
50 million quid for a 28 year old who has never played in a top league? I mean there are gambles, there are massive gambles, and then this. I have to say I don't blame Arsenal for not parting with the cash on this one.

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Sep 2015 15:27:42
If wenger has travelled to paris to attempt cavani deal, and it doesn't come off i won't be impressed regardless if it shows they tried, why not do this last week, or 3 days ago, or 2 months ago? Why is our transfer policy so amateur? Serious questions need asking, we are settling for 4-3rd spot with this lack of player additions.
Absolutly no ambition what so ever. Its criminal how wenger is on 8 mill a year yet refuses to pay wages over a certain amount or meet realistic transfer fee's.
Im a wenger out man, have been for about 5 years, i appreciate what he's done but i think mew blood is needed, i constantly get, 'who would u get to replace him?'.. Somebody who doesn't win a lot of trophys.. There ain't a lack of those about so take ya pick! Martinez won the fa cup with wigan.
Would people say there's more in favour of wenger now or against?
Im hoping he signs a name and makes me look stupid but, i ain't holding my breathe. And 1 signing to appease us is a bit insulting in my opinion. Papering over cracks springs to mind.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Cavani was not first choice - you know that. Bleating about something and pretending to be shocked is simply ridiculous.}

01 Sep 2015 15:44:02
Might not have been first choice ed but was vastly more realistic then benzema. And i'm not just banging on about cavani or any 1 name, i'm talking about the whole set up of our transfer dealings. Why it takes so long, why we dither, why we don't identify targets and go after them early etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal did have targets -it really is not as simple as people realise.}

01 Sep 2015 15:55:01
It's ok that he wasn't our first choice and that footballers now want to be desired like girlfriends do and ain't happy with been 2nd or 3rd choice so what's benzema is he the long suffering wife who's husband hasn't managed to convince his fancy piece to move in with him. Because RM must have known they didn't want to sell him and we were told weeks ago. We need someone to do a job and cavani can do a job.

It's not just disgruntled arsenal fans who think arsenal have fudged up in this window. Professional footballers, club legends , pundits and people in the business

We have missed s trick

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - This is a very expensive player - one of the best in Europe in recent years. I am getting the feeling you really don't understand anything about the game at all. Certainly you are not seeing the difficulties of the transfer process. The club has targets and works towards those - you just want players signed for the sake of it. Bradley Dack is having a good season at Gillingham, looks like he is going to score a lot of goals - another one Arsenal has missed out on.}

01 Sep 2015 16:04:33
I don't think Cavani will be good enough, can't imagine him scoring too many goals in the prem, like Falcao.
i'd be happy for him to prove me wrong but i can't see Wenger signing him either.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:09:55
Does it matter if he was first choice? If after a month you can't make some progress with first choice why not move on and give yourself a fighting chance of securing someone rather than last minute nonsense

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It might well matter to him.}

01 Sep 2015 16:37:04
I think that is all rather insulting ed. there is obviously a lot of people who don't understand the game then and the average fan on the street will obviously not know what it's like behind the scenes at transfer time. But surely you can understand fans anguish?

I have seen other posters on here been warned for stupiding people. Please try and not be god like. I understand it can be frustrating no doubting that but you obviously do the editing for a reason. I'm sure I will get a draconian reply but just a frustrated fan here that's all

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You simply have no grasp of any of this as far as I can tell.}

01 Sep 2015 16:39:53
He hasn't been first choice at psg. But he would be at arsenal if he came

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 16:54:21
Well it could easily be Edging02 your bets. No point if your on a hiding to nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:05:05
Brow looks like ed is being a bit hard on you, not to worry… I don't understand the inner workings of finance and transfers either as I am a football fan and it all seems a bit tainted. I appreciate your insights in these matters as well, pretty sensible even if I don't always agree.

Ed 2 on the other hand is pretty damn knowledgeable (if not lovable) on these matters without these insights we would be grapsing in the dark so keep on keeping on - i guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:06:22
First choice as in first choice as a transfer target Browgun - not first choice in the starting eleven. Funnily enough, footballers have ego's and emotions just like us and some players may not feel wanted enough if they are being approached as a plan b option. It's not like the Fifa transfer market.

I wouldn't say it's a lack of understanding of the game, as I'd have thought the beautiful 'game' of football is what is played on the pitch but now I can see why Ed002 has asked us fans to steer clear of going too deep into behind the scenes goings on - such as transfers and contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 17:38:29
No rooster I agree I do appreciate the eds and there knowledge. That's why I ask when I'm unsure on something and it is also why they obviously are in the ed possition. Just feel sometimes ed02 gets a bit sharp for want of a better word. The site is open to joe public with fans of a shared love of their respective clubs and it's also a site where people share their views and banter on. There was a post on the banter page yes the banter page where stephenbristow wrote "come on wenger get your hand in your pocket" which is a plain in fun comment and mentioned why not get charlie Austin and was then called niave and suggested that he would like us to buy for buyings sake. Just unreasonable response especially when the post didn't have ed do you think at the begging.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Do you often bump in t things around the house? Try not whining and grizzling for a while.}

01 Sep 2015 13:29:48
Ffs Wenger put your hand in your pocket and buy what we need

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You have an incredibly naive view of how things work.

Regardless, Cavani won't happen as the price is seen to be far too high for a player of his age - I suspect wages would also be an issue. PSG would sell Rabiot but everything is back to this issue with guarantees - and Arsenal will not, in my view, give in to such demands. So possible options:

A loan to buy deal for Kokorin may be a solution but I don't know how the player would feel as he has turned down options to move to the EPL in the past.

Cheryshev was priced out of a move yesterday but his agent says he is still available today. Arsenal has asked about the player previously.

Yarmolenko is still available at the right price but Dynamo Kyiv want him to stay until January.

And of course one potential blocker for Cavani was him being third choice - so could something be done with the second choice still? Higuain.

Logistically at this stage it would require third party medicals and there must be a risk, however small.}

01 Sep 2015 14:31:51
I know it ain't easy Ed but even you know we should be at least getting a striker even Austin I think he would be a good but scored 18goals at qpr would get 25 with us

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - So you are a believer in the club not buying to improve the squad but just for the hell of it? Arsenal has never done that - and all of the players I mentioned above are available and have been of interest to Arsenal.}

01 Sep 2015 15:06:03
No I believe in improving the squad and I think Austin would Ed that's why I only said him

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has shown no interest in him.}

01 Sep 2015 15:22:50
i never said they did i'm saying i would like wenger to sign him

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:47:28
At present austin is in better form than any forward we currently have so he would undoubtedly be an improvement to the squad. No brainer. I don't think that would be buying for the sake of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 15:51:53
Ed I see u mentioned Higuain. Would arsenal go back for him at this late stage or is everything just over? I need hope...

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Read the post.}

01 Sep 2015 17:25:12
lets face wenger was never going to sign any 1 else was he

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2015 07:52:34
If we manage to sign Cavani and Rabiot, whilst loaning out or selling Cambell, it will have been an awesome window and the squad will have good balance. Fingers crossed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Unless someone like West Ham step in for Campbell it is difficult to see where he could go.}

01 Sep 2015 09:10:19
Hello Eds,
Does this mean even Flamini stays?
Is there any interest in Campbell from Portugal?
Thank you.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Whatever happens with Campbell has no impact on Flamini - unless I am missing something. I really don't understand how Portugal fits in to any of this - sorry.}

01 Sep 2015 09:51:45
Thanks ed.
Sorry for the way I framed my questions, will be careful from next time. Transfer window for Turkey closed so I was wondering Flam and Campbell would not leave.
Also Portugal's window remains open and there was previously some interest in Campbell from Portugal.
Thanks a lot ed :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It seems to be clutching at straws.}

01 Sep 2015 12:31:27
I don't wanna waste my time watching deadline day so ed, a simple yes or no, do you think arsenal will sign anybody?

Eds we won't let the ox leave the club will we

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him right now. So it seems very unlikely.}

01 Sep 2015 08:06:22
Wenger would have to be crazy to let this move happen. The backlash would probably put his job in doubt. That's if the ox even wants to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Go where?}

01 Sep 2015 08:43:00
The story is from the same paper that said Benzema was a done deal and gave the day he'd join us, twice.
As if the Ox would even consider the move, if he was available he'd have many many more options from top English clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What move is this? I am getting confused.}

01 Sep 2015 09:14:44
A paper this morning is saying Ox to Galatasaturkey Ed, get ready because just after lunch their going to run a story about Sanchez to Plymouth on loan and you'll be inundated with posts about it :-) good luck with today Ed0002 I've a feeling you might need it :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You might want to comment on the paper article saying that "Ed002 says that the transfer window in Turkey is already closed".}

01 Sep 2015 09:20:56
The story says that the Ox is going to be subject to a bid from Galatasary, absolute no chance..

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The Turkish transfer window has already closed. I think you guys are reading the wrong papers.}

01 Sep 2015 09:25:19
I think he's referring to the Sky Transfer Centre Source:

"Sky sources understand Galatasaray are trying to sign England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain"

According to them a French agent has been sent to London to try and complete a deal, although Sky have apparently spoken to the agent who appears to be less than hopeful.

Sounds ridiculous to me and I've lost a lot of trust from the infamous Sky 'yellow boxes' this summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Feel free to email Sky and tell them that "Ed002 says that the transfer window in Turkey is already closed".}

Hey Ed, do you have any info regards WENGER going for Santos Gabriel Barbosa and Adrien Rabiot..?...possible Cavani... But it looks that Barbosa younger and skill sick... 👊

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Santos' Gabriel Barbosa is of interest to Fiorentina, Galatasaray, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. However, although much is expected of him he is only 18 and whilst there is an agreement between Santos and Barcelona that may be exercised in 2016, I suspect that he won't move there at that time. Chelsea have tried and continue to try to strike a deal - but it may be a while away. His agent mentioned that Fenerbahce had made an offer but I suspect that is incorrect and it was Galatasaray. I rather doubt Gabriel will end up in Manchester, unless it is in the away dressing room.

Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea enquired about Rabiot in 2013 and PSG were not keen to sell. Chelsea and Arsenal both enquired again in the summer of 2014 but would see him as one for the future - and neither will commit to the guarantee of first team football that was being requested by the player. Rabiot has been bleating about not being in the first team at PSG and a move to Arsenal or Chelsea would not resolve that in the short term. However, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle and Manchester City have had him watched over the past season on a regular basis, and Spurs were keen on taking him on a loan to buy deal in January. Although previously backing away due to the request for a guarantee of playing time, talks did again happen with Juventus in July. Spurs has to be a contender still and Arsenal may rekindle their interest but Wenger will want to talk to the player (and his mother) to ensure that his head is in the right place. Chelsea simply saw him as too much grief in the end.

I have explained over and over about Cavani being an option - but Arsenal will want to try to negotiate the price.}

01 Sep 2015 07:12:21
Good morning Eds! Happy deadline day too. Arsene Wenger has just been spotted on a plane to Paris, could this mean Cavani, 28, is on his way to Arsenal?
